We came during the crazy holiday time. We knew there would be a wait. We arrived around 1pm and were told the waitlist was closed although the restaurant was half empty. We managed to get a standing spot at the bar and enjoyed our time for about 2 hours. The selection of spirits and beer is incredible. We all ordered a classic old fashioned to start. The bar was pumpin and our cocktails came out in a timely manner and were perfectly balanced. Our next round were some of the specialty cocktails and these did not disappoint. Highly recommend the herd it through the grapevine which was the perfect holiday bourbon cocktail and the foam alone was easy drinking and festive as well. We were hungry and needed a nibble. We ordered fries. To our surprise there was a variety of fry options but we went with the classic which were PERFECT and came out super fast. Highly recommend for a shareable bite. On our way out we were able to put our name down and were told an hour. We made it to our next destination down the road and instantly got the text that our table was ready so we quickly jet back. Oh my god! This is the second time I have had this burger and the poutine fries! It is totally the best, and I am already craving it again. It is made to perfection, and the onion Jam is to die for on. I don't know what they put on those fries, but I could eat them for a year straight and never get sick of them! Horrible service, not friendly. The bartender could not even get 2 beers correct on tap. On another note, he also forgot the shots we ordered, and when asked nicely came back with an attitude...... mind you they were on our tab. Lots of good reviews and my husband wanted a burger so we gave it a try. Server, Brady, was very nice and helpful. I had the black and blue salad and my husband had the bbq bacon cheeseburger. 3 stars because I asked for medium cooking on my skirt steak and it was quite rubbery. My husband ordered his burger medium well being told that there would be very little pink - there was much pink! Definitely not a medium well cook. My family and I had dinner here and everything we ate was delicioussss! Our server was so patient with us because we had sooo many questions about the menu so shoutout to her. The inside is also just a really cool vibe and decorated so nicely. For appetizers we got the German pretzel, fried pickles, bbq wings, and poutine. The pretzel is AMAZING especially with the beer cheese - I ended up dipping my fries in the leftover cheese because of how good it was. I think the only complaint my dad has was that the poutine could've used more cheese curds, but everything else was perfecttt. For entrees we got the mushroom Swiss burger (could've used more mushrooms), my mom got the grouper which she loved, and my brother and I built our burgers. Prohibition Kitchen is a really cool restaurant in the heart of historic St. Augustine. I love the speak easy vibes; it feels like you're stepping into a different time period. The menu even looks like an old timey newspaper. We ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with the sirloin patty upgrade ($2) and their short rib grilled cheese. The burger patty had delicious flavor and was cooked to perfection. There wasn't a strong mushroom or Swiss cheese flavor, but it was a solid "regular" burger. I loved the short rib grilled cheese which was absolutely packed with meat. I really enjoyed adding their hot sauce for extra flavor. I went here for dinner while in town with my husband and friends and overall the atmosphere was lively and turns into a party vibe at night. For starters we had Brussel sprouts and deviled eggs which apparently they switch on occasions. For this one, it was smoked salmon with bread crumbles and pickled onion which was different but in a good way. All the flavors balanced well. The Brussel sprouts were just okay, I wish they were crispy. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with fries which was just okay. However, the true star of the show was my husband's lobster roll! Be prepared for a wait! Initially they said about 30 mins just to get a buzzer but luckily someone left as I was still standing there and I got one. The bartenders are great and you can have really good drinks and even eat at the bar if you choose to. We waited on our table at the bar and the waitress was very nice. The decor of the restaurant was really cool and the band playing was fun! The space to wait for a table was very limited so you could not stand and listen to the band while waiting for a table. When we checked in the wait was 90 minutes and it did take about 90 minutes but there were a lot of open tables. With a very busy time of the year I feel like they should have been able to seat all the tables. With portion sizes we often order an appetizer and an entree, however they charged a $5 share fee so we eliminated the appetizer and ordered a $4 cup of chili. They would have made more money if they did not have a plate share fee. I ordered the fish and chips. The portion was large and we could not finish it. The flavor of the food was somewhat bland. I added some salt and pepper to the fries and slaw, which I rarely do. The house made tartar sauce was on point and added the flavor the fish needed. The cup of chili was very tasty, but was literally a cup, maybe even less. I like to try new places so that makes it worth the wait but I would not return unless there was a band of interest and I could be seated where I could view them. read more

When he finally got to us he was a bit distracted and not focused, but he just poured a couple of beers, so not big deal. When we did get seated, it was at an intersection and there was lots of traffic. I get it, not a big deal. It took our server (Nicole) a little to get to us, but she was pretty good. Pleasant and competent. Ordered the Brussel sprout appetizer. It was different than most. The sprouts were a little hard and the dressing was a Cesar dressing that almost worked. Give it a 6.5 out of 10. The issue came when we ordered. I wanted the Short Rib grilled cheese. They ran out. I tried to order the Reuben, they also ran out. I ended up ordering the Bootlegger burger (with fried green tomato) and asked if they would wave the $2 upcharge for a premium side because I couldn't get the dishes I wanted. The server smiled and said she didn't think that would be a problem and asked the manager. She came back a few minutes later and said the manager said no. I was surprised and order the burger anyway. It was alright, I liked the fried tomato, but the bacon was a little under cooked. Burger was medium as ordered. 6.5 out of 10. Wife ordered mushroom and Swiss burger with non-premium side, regular fries. Her burger was a bit over done and the fries were nothing to write home about. A bit too salted for me. 5 out of 10. The music was ok at best. Nice background, mostly acoustic instrumental. Can't complain to much about that, but it wasn't outstanding. I did seek out the manager (Drew) after we paid the bill. I said I was a little disappointed that he denied my simple request to wave the $2 upcharge due to my disappointment with them being sold out of my first two choices. He was a bit rude and told me 'I'm sorry you feel that way'. I didn't make a big fuss, but I am disappointed. His reaction did prompt me to write this review and I hope I'm not the A-Hole here. I'd recommend any number of the other pub style restaurants on the beautiful St. Geroge Street area. NEXT DAY UPDATE: happend to be in the area and spoke to the general manager (Shannon). She was terrific. She Listened and very generously gave a gift card to the store where we promptly dropped another $50 :) read more

Everyone in our group got their appetizers and food, finished eating it and then about 10 minutes after everyone finished, I got my baked potato. The gentleman bartender was great, awesome personality, the female behind the bar was very standoffish. Overall in the past, we have had great experiences here. This visit didn't cut it. We've been here years ago and it was a great experience. We went again last night and it was completely the opposite. We were quoted a 45 min wait for our party of 4, but waited more than an hour after we inquired with the host if they had forgotten about us. We were sat and although our server was really nice, it took her forever to get to us. The house water tastes like sewer. We asked for a water bottle ($5) and the manager delivered it to us. We asked if we could get another one and he said, "just let your server know you want another water bottle." She took our drink orders... but came back twice because the two whiskeys we wanted to drink were not available. Third times the charm -- they had the whiskey we wanted but by the time the drinks were delivered to us, the cups were sweating bullets and the gentleman's ice cube was half iced! Beer was warm. Food came. At least the food was good. Romain lettuce with skirt steak, brussel sprouts and sliders. Prices are through the roof. Overall -- I regret wasting money here and it was embarrassing to bring our family here after we told them how awesome the establishment was years ago. I don't mind spending big bucks are great experiences, but this was just a waste. Oh, also! It's not an enjoyable restaurant anymore. Sunday's in the fall are for football and being one of the fee bats that has multiple tvs for the games, the bar area is packed early and it gets loud. We ordered the chicken wings (crispy) with one order having the honey mustard sauce and the other having the whiskey bbq. The whiskey bbq is a little sweet so next time we may ask them to mix the bbq with the honey mustard or the regular hot sauce. They have a large selection of beer! My husband got the Kentucky bourbon ale and I opted for a cider as they had the Blake's peach party in the can and they also had mcKenzie's black cherry in the bottle. No cider on tap. Before coming here be warned that you must be 21 and over after 8 pm (I believe so). So be prepared to bring your ID. We went near dinner time and understood there would be a long wait. It was about a one hour wait. There was a live band here so if you will need to yell across the table if you are seated near the front. Our waiter took awhile to come with menus and our appetizers took awhile to come. My swiss burger was juicy but very oily. The poutine fries were great. The pork and cheese complimented each other.
