A really fun spot on St. George street! They had live blue grass music and the restaurant is designed like a speakeasy, feels like you are out west somewhere. Dined at Prohibition Kitchen tonight. Gosh it was dark inside. But some people call that ambiance Difficult to read the menu. But ... I brought my bright little pocket flashlight , ta da. This place was huge , with a row of tables on the second floor balcony that looked like the local county jail. The house was packed with noisy customers. The bar was full ... Everyone was there to enjoy the evening and the music. Live entertainment was provided by a female soloist who actually sang quite well. We were seated immediately upon entry but then there was a 10+ minute wait for the server to arrive and take our order(s). Dinner finally arrived. I had the Bacon BBQ cheeseburger and a cup of Chili. My companion had a grilled cheese with beef. The food was delicious but too much for me to finish. My companion had a box brought to the table to take home the leftovers. There are plenty of restaurants in this area of St. Augustine known as "Old Town". St. Augustine is the oldest colony established by Spain in the new world. Quite a bit of history in this part of Florida. The area has many restaurants, beaches, and hotels. It is a tourist destination. We had a great time. But the area is spread out. Bring your walking shoes. At the end of the day , we were exhausted. St. Augustine is a nice place to visit , at least once. Also , Castillo de San Marco is nearby , right on the water's edge. Excellent dining and drinking spot, right in the heart of St. Augustine - check this place out if you're there for a visit! This is right in the middle of the busiest spot in town, so expect it to be crowded, but we only waited a few minutes and managed to grab some spots at the bar. You can tell it's in a historic building, with very cool, elaborate decor. The food and drinks we tried were really good, and a highlight for me was building my own old fashioned with various options to choose from for whiskey/bourbon, syrup, and bitters. Service was fast and friendly and I would definitely pay this place another visit on a future trip out to St. Augustine. read more

Our server Joseph was absolutely amazing! A group of 8 of us came in for food and drinks and we could not have had a better experience. He started out with the specials and was extremely welcoming. Not only were his drink recommendations great with adding the baileys to the espresso martinis, but the food was excellent as well. The atmosphere was so much fun; bar scene, dinner, live music lots of room for just standing around to drink and lots of room for sitting. The menu was the "front of a newspaper" very fun and unique. We ordered fried pickles, I had the lobster roll and my girlfriend ordered a chicken sandwich. The pickles were perfect, good pickle to breading ratio. We went there in November and it was super busy! We had to wait a while to get a table but you can wait at the bar, which is a good size. We were seated upstairs and our server checked on us frequently, even with a busy night. We ordered the deviled eggs, county line boiled peanuts, pan-seared salmon and the braised shortrib. Over the years visiting St. Augustine, Prohibition Kitchen has always been a go to spot for food or drinks. We split chicken wings and fries, which was more than enough for 2 people. The wings were crispy and hot, just how I like them! During our first visit of the weekend, we were too full to try one of their milkshakes, and came back the next day for just the milkshake. Got the cookies and cream milkshake with alcohol in it. Presentation was beautiful and it tasted just as good. I stopped here this evening for dinner and had a great experience. I had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated, but they have a buzzer/pager waiting system, so I was able to pass time by popping into some gift shops on St. George Street while I waited. There was also some live music going on, though they were wrapping up by the time I was seated. My server, Olivia, was very attentive and very friendly. I ordered the whiskey barbecue burger and it was great. I asked for the burger to be medium and it was cooked perfectly. This was a really fun spot with great food and service. It is made to perfection, and the onion Jam is to die for on. I don't know what they put on those fries, but I could eat them for a year straight and never get sick of them! I had the black and blue salad and my husband had the bbq bacon cheeseburger. 3 stars because I asked for medium cooking on my skirt steak and it was quite rubbery. My husband ordered his burger medium well being told that there would be very little pink - there was much pink! Definitely not a medium well cook. Prohibition Kitchen is a really cool restaurant in the heart of historic St. Augustine. I love the speak easy vibes; it feels like you're stepping into a different time period. The menu even looks like an old timey newspaper. We ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with the sirloin patty upgrade ($2) and their short rib grilled cheese. The burger patty had delicious flavor and was cooked to perfection. There wasn't a strong mushroom or Swiss cheese flavor, but it was a solid "regular" burger. I loved the short rib grilled cheese which was absolutely packed with meat. I really enjoyed adding their hot sauce for extra flavor. We came during the crazy holiday time. We knew there would be a wait. We arrived around 1pm and were told the waitlist was closed although the restaurant was half empty. We managed to get a standing spot at the bar and enjoyed our time for about 2 hours. The selection of spirits and beer is incredible. We all ordered a classic old fashioned to start. The bar was pumpin and our cocktails came out in a timely manner and were perfectly balanced. Our next round were some of the specialty cocktails and these did not disappoint. Highly recommend the herd it through the grapevine which was the perfect holiday bourbon cocktail and the foam alone was easy drinking and festive as well. We were hungry and needed a nibble. We ordered fries. To our surprise there was a variety of fry options but we went with the classic which were PERFECT and came out super fast. Highly recommend for a shareable bite. On our way out we were able to put our name down and were told an hour. We made it to our next destination down the road and instantly got the text that our table was ready so we quickly jet back. The food was pretty decent, but the customer service really left a bad taste in my mouth. There was a 45-minute wait despite plenty of open tables--which I assumed was due to being short-staffed. Once we were seated, it took quite a while to be greeted and have our drink orders taken. We all just ordered waters, but it still took about 10 minutes for them to arrive. The food came out fairly quickly after we ordered, but that's where things started to go downhill. There was some confusion when the food arrived--we didn't have any silverware, and some of the items were cold. When I tried to ask the runner about it, he abruptly said, "I don't have time to answer your questions." I was stunned. I pointed out that my fries were cold, and he cut me off again, saying, "Once again, I don't have time to answer your questions. We don't have any extra silverware. You need to ask your server because I'm just the runner." Unfortunately, our server didn't return for another 5 minutes, only to confirm that they had no silverware to give--odd, considering the napkins typically come wrapped around them. I might consider trying this place again, but only if the customer service improves significantly. read more
