Came here last year and had an amazing experience. Food was delicious, and we felt like we were stepping into a family member's house to eat. Large portions, beautiful plates and silverware, and quaint, cozy ambiance in America's oldest city. Fast forward to Saturday the 14th, and I'm back again with family visiting from out of the country. The food was good, but the vibe was a bit different. Started with chips & salsa - good, but hardly any chips. We had 3/4 of a dish of salsa remaining after finishing the chips, and we were told that we would have to pay for a refill of chips. Very sad! We also ordered two taco platters, and three chicken quesadilla platters. Food was good, but the side portions (beans and rice) were very small, and served in tiny plastic cups. The plates and silverware were replaced with cardboard plates/trays and plastic cutlery. Although the food was good, the presentation was disappointing. Our waitress did a good job, so kudos to her! $120+ before a tip - a couple more chips would have been nice, and real plates and silver would have been amazing.....just saying. read more

Unbelievable Yelp said this was a number one restaurant for Mexican food as close to me as I am on Vilano Beach, which is ridiculous cause this place is awful when they don't give you everything you order to their website is terrible. They have a section that says no and then you have 13 items to pick from that says no to and then if you don't do anything or you're confused and you order on the telephone with them, they give you a completely basic piece of yuck And they don't give you everything you order if you come in to pick up like a local wood just awful. Look at the picture there's a section that you have to say no to these 13 items which we don't understand we asked them verbally and you don't get anything just awful. read more

It's been a common joke to us San Diegans that you can't find good Mexican food in Florida. Mayita just disproved that, but to be fair they are probably the lone example. We assumed this would just be a simple taco shop but we were wrong. The proprietor takes pride in his work and it shows. This was like a gourmet version of a Mexican food establishment. I'm so impressed!! Going to FL from TX, have little expectations on Mexican food but I was proven wrong because Mayita was amazing. I got the lamb birria bowl and it was so tender ans well seasoned. Their rice bowls are very much like chipotle style in components but fresher. Avocadoes are fresh and tasty and they have a bunch of different kinds of hot sauces and salsa on the side. Plaintain chips are good but I wish they were warm/hot. my friends like their beef burritos a lot too. Their ranking was lamb then beef, pork, chicken. Love that the menu is quite simple and easy to order. The staffs are so friendly and helpful and location is right across the Castillo de San Marcos fortress. Would def come back. read more

Visited the Fort in St Augustine and were quite hungry afterwards, so we were looking for a kid friendly and delicious spot that would satisfy our taste buds. Mayita did not disappoint! We were seated quickly and offered drinks- my children love that they have jarritos. We got chips with salsa and queso. The queso was excellent and the salsa tasted fresh. My husband and I got bowls - pork and chicken. Both were excellent. My children got a burrito, quesadilla, and tacos. They also got fruit which looked amazing and was served with lime and Tajín. If you're in the st Augustine historical district, definitely stop into this cute little place. You will not be disappointed! read more

Went by at 1:30 today - first time based on great reviews. Spent 20 minutes looking for parking, finally had to pay $10. Get to restaurant - closed! Sign on door said back at 11:00. It's now 2.5 hours later and still closed. Unless there was an emergency, this is poor form. Will not make a trip from WGV again, just for a meal, but may give it another try if I happen to be downtown. read more

We wanted a quick bite when going to Night of Lights. The reviews were good so we came early to beat the crowds. The restaurant is cute and small with a little outdoor seating. The service was very good. We ordered a burrito, the tacos, which had one of each kind, the birria quesadilla and the chicken quesadilla. All were well seasoned and tasty. Awesome place so happy I made it in to try it, service was SUPER !!! Drinks were wonderful fresh watermelon juice was so refreshing on the hot day, the horchata tasted homemade. All the juices were fresh and not overly sweet like other places serve them. Food was yummy I had the chilaquiles with green sauce (tomatillos) super good. I ordered a side pancake for the little. It was so yummy I ate it, we also ordered the chicken enchiladas suizas (they must have been good because my daughter ate them all ! That never happens anywhere we go out to eat at. Loved everything! This restaurant was a very nice surprise in our last visit to St Augustine. Everything was great, from how cordial and accommodating the staff is, the view to the bay and the carriages outside, to the quality of the food. We had the guacamole as a starter, very tasty and accompanied with, instead of traditional nachos, 4 tostadas. We then had the best tacos al pastor we've had in a while, the adobo seasoning not overwhelming but present and the small pineapple chunks in the right proportion. Highly recommended. read more

My daughter and I were in downtown St Augustine for St Patrick's Day. Bars and restaurants were very crowded of course. We happened upon this wonderful new place. Beautiful view , perfect location, wonderful staff- it's family owned! Just wanted something refreshing so we ordered watermelon water. Oh my! It was delicious. Amazing staff, this family owned business goes out of their way to make your meal a memory in their restaurant. Feels like you are in a cafe in a small town. Greeted with a smile and a description of the daily specials. They offer special flavored waters like hibiscus and pineapple, prompt to refill drinks. The food was excellent, don't regret asking them for their recommendation. Standard dishes like enchiladas and quesadilla are elevated with flavor here. What a great breakfast spot that recently opened on the water front in downtown St. Augustine! We were so fortunate to find this new spot as apparently the word isn't out YET! We were quickly seated and served. It's an "actual restaurant" where you are handed a menu and they take your order instead of ordering at the counter like many places in St. Augustine. The food was outstanding and service was fabulous. The ambiance includes a Cuban vibe that accompanies the fabulous menu selections. Our party of four ordered the breakfast platter, omelets and breakfast taco...all were delicious! The coffee was especially yummy too. I would give this place ten stars if I could.
