I ordered the 1/4 rotisserie chicken with two sides of which I selected a side salad and plantains. I waited maybe 7-8 minutes after ordering for my food to arrive which was not bad. The side salad was a decent size with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. I'm not sure what the dressing was but it was light, homemade and good. I couldn't resist trying a sweet treat so I oredered an alfajores to go. The cookie was filled with dulce de leche. Yes please! The cookie was soft and sweet but not too sweet. The last thing we needed was another "Wings and Seafood Joint," no matter the name or gimmick. Now we have a totally new concept, a new idea and a breath of fresh air on Lane Avenue. Nini and Manny have done a total renovation inside and out, it is well appointed, with new booths, floors and multiple big screens (which is great for sports fans). And on to the food, my first experience was take-out Steak Nachos, great portion, the beef was well seasoned and quite tender, topped with cheese, extra chips and salsa on the side. Today my wife and I enjoyed lunch at the restaurant. She had the "Fajita Burrito," which was huge, and as she described it as "well proportioned, the right amount of steak, vegetables and cheese, seasoned perfectly. I chose the "Mexican Bowl with Steak," it's a nice combination of yellow rice, black beans and steak (and you didn't have to look for the steak). Without sounding redundant, I'll just agree with my wife's description of the meal. Abuelas Mexican Brunch is definitely worth trying, It's not Tex-Mex, it's an actual Mexican Restaurant.

We were really going into this with very high expectations after all we've seen on social media for…read morethem. We LOVE Mexican food. I got a plate of 3 breakfast tacos that consisted of 1x Scrambled Eggs and Chorizo, 1x Chorizo and Potato, 1x Scrambled Eggs and Ham. I enjoyed all 3 of mine and they were exactly as I had expected. I think the potatoes could have been cooked off a little more to give them a bit of a crispiness to them. It comes with a house hot sauce, but because I have a low to mid tolerance for heat I have my husband taste for me first and it was out of my range. So I instead topped them with Cholula. Hubby got the Breakfast Plate Number 3 which consists of 2 eggs any way, Mexican potatoes, 2 pancakes, and bacon. He ordered over easy eggs and was served Scrambled and that was his first disappointment. We had already waited a little over 30 minutes for food to arrive (which is fine, it's all cooked from scratch assuming). So he didn't want to send it back or complain about it. Upon taking a bite of the potatoes, those were just below room temperature and semi cold to the touch. He described it as if they were sitting in the window done and ready while my food cooked (because my potatoes were warm). The onions in the potatoes weren't cooked down at all and still semi raw, so that was disappointment number 2 for him, but he continued to eat. A few moments later the bacon arrived, and as you can see by the photos, kind of undercooked as well. So it was a pretty underwhelming visit for us in whole. He did say the pancakes were good though. We will give them another try in the future, maybe not for breakfast necessarily, but we understand people and businesses have off days, and today was just that for him. He could have gripped and sent it back and waited even longer to eat, but it was good enough for him to just deal with it. We really hope our next visit outshine this one because this would be such a great little spot for the westside.

We came on a Tuesday, and the only downside was that they were down one cook, so service was fine and the staff was very polite and apologetic for our wait, but the food was slow to come out - to the tune of 35 minutes wait. Thank god for the chips refill. The margaritas were tasty and well apportioned with alcohol. Not terribly strong but not juice and mixer only either. I got the Flautas and my partner got the Fajita Chimichangas. A friend got the carnitas street tacos. The flautas were perfectly crispy and had a good amount of meat filling, the guacamole was chunky and fresh and the rice and beans savory. The fajita chimis were stuffed full, the beef seemed stringy and low quality but tasted fine and was savory, and the chicken was juicy. We both left incredibly full and happy with the food.
