    Mezclado Sandwich
    Erin S.

We had a party of 4 for breakfast at 9:30 am on Sunday, 9/1/24. In a strip with plenty of parking. We ordered at the counter and they brought out our food. There's limited seating inside and a 4 or 5 2-seater tables outside with one umbrella. I got the Mezclado Sandwich ($10.95) and we all split Magu's Yuca Fries ($7.95) and Maduros ($4.95). The sandwich and fries were good, but the green sauce really made it. We asked for extra because only the fries came with the sauce, but we recommend dipping the sandwiches in it too. The sweet plantains were delicious too, but only came with 4 pieces. Decent fast-casual food.

The restaurant is very clean and organized. The service was very friendly. I had a Medianoche sandwich and it was delicious!!!!

Last minute plans... can't figure out what to have for dinner. What an amazing surprise?! 1928 is in our backyard now. We walked in an hour before closing. So hospitable. They made us fresh empanadas! So delish. We will definitely be back more than once!

Really good stuff. Cafe con leche yum. Cuban sandwich and yuca fries also delish. We stumbled in during lunchtime. They were busy. My cousin and I opted to share a sandwich and an order of yuca fries and sip on some cafe con leche as we waited. No complaints here. We were two happy guys.

    Deluxe mezcal deal

On this rainy day my husband was carving some comfort breakfast food. The staff was awesome, helped us decide what entrees to get. I LOVE LOVE their cheese rolls absolutely delicious I have to try hard to share with the family. My husband ordered a deluxe mezcal sandwich, he said that he would give it a 4 out of 5. I ordered their version of steak and eggs, I felt the steak was a bit tough and the eggs were overcooked. It had great flavor though and the bread was good. The decor is cute and chic, they even set up these black and white umbrellas for their outdoor seating which made the yellow seating color pop.

    Guava pastelito and cortado

After moving back from Miami, I really missed my weekly (sometimes daily) cafecitos and pastelitos. Not having a cuban restaurant or cafe on every street corner was an adjustment I've gotten used to, but I still have cravings from time to time. When I stumbled upon this bistro and discovered it was a local chain, I was thrilled! I wanted to order some vegetarian empanadas, but since they make them fresh, it would have been a 7-minute wait. Though in hindsight, I was in no rush, I could've and should've waited because they sounded wonderful! Plus, who doesn't love fresh empanadas? I was still happy to grab a guava pastry, which is one of my favorite treats. It was exactly as I expected, delicious, sweet, and flaky. I ordered a cortado as well, and it hit the spot. The to-go coffee cups are strangely too big for cuban coffee, but other than that, my drink was good. I didn't dine in, but the staff is really nice and the restaurant is so cute inside! I could see they were going for that vintage art deco look, and they nailed it!

Came in for a quick coffee it was packed. Only ordered a colada, cortadito, and a flan total was $14. A little steep. Service was slow, and cold not very friendly. The patrons were more friendly. I'll give it another try on a weekday perhaps.

I had been wanting to try 1928 Cuban Bistro as I've seen many pictures and read a few reviews. I was on this side of the town getting my hair done and saw I was less than a mile from this location. The location had some inside seating as well as a patio. My server was so sweet. Since it was my first time, she suggested the Cuban. Wow, was this sandwich big I had it for two meals! And loaded with meat! It was an excellent sandwich. I paired it with a Cuban pineapple soda which was refreshing. It had just the right amount of pineapple flavor and wasn't overly sweet. They sold tres leches in to go containers so you know I had to take one home. It was also delish! The server told me there was a new location at Jacksonville Beach, and I'm looking forward to trying some other menu items soon!

    Treating myself to breakfast.

I had French toast (just the regular but the cinnamon roll French toast looked really tempting). It was just slightly crispy around the edges and I love that. It was delicious too and if I had more space I would have eaten it all. The coffee was great diner/cafe coffee. And if you enjoy that type, you'll know exactly what I mean. I drank it black and they also gave me a cup to go! We did have to wait a couple minutes for a table but not long at all. They turn over tables pretty quickly! Our server was wonderful and really on the ball. Our food came out pretty quickly too, in spite of them being quite busy. It was a little loud in there but not so much we couldn't hear each other. I do like that they have counter seating as an option! We needed a table this round to spread out coloring materials lol. But the counter looks like a nice place to sit too. Might have to go back to try the cinnamon roll French toast and a coffee next time!

This location has the Grumpy's name but does not have the Grumpy's taste and it RUINED my mother-daughter outing. Walking into the restaurant it has that welcome back feeling of being inside in a Grumpy's spot. The decor is modern farmhouse. The lollipop bouquet is the cutest and WARMEST invite into this spot. As all Grumpy's, the menu is full of American classics. My daughter and I had a short-stack. I couldn't resist adding the Roasted Turkey plate. My drink choice was hot chocolate. I knew something was OFF when I received the hot chocolate..."where's the chocolate drizzle? why does it taste like it's water based?" The waiter let me know it's the waiters choice on how it is served. *INSERT EYE ROLL* When the meal came it was easy to see the Turkey plate was MISSING items and looked like it had been sitting (I mean sitting gravy has look of non-movement). The waiter tried to COMFORT me by saying it was under a warm plate but after I questioned where were the cranberries and stuffing...she then responded with an OH! The Kitchen manager offered to bring out a different dish. Now for the pancake, at FIRST BITE my daughter says "I taste the batter" *insert the disappointed DEEP SIGH* The owner asked if he could remake our meals. Truthfully, this was the THIRD complaint so it was a big NO THANK YOU! He then offered to comp the hot chocolate and one of the meals. I boxed the turkey dinner just to get home and it to have the taste of excessive old oil. :-( smh! Not only did it make for an UNENJOYABLE outing with my daughter. It also made my hype about Grumpy's being the best place for brunch a complete LIE. I give them 1-star for being Grumpy's and 1-star for attempting to RESOLVE. This location needs to get host training, hospitality reenforcement, and a kitchen with care because BAE-BEEEE it's a miss me wit'it For spot the difference in my added pictures Image 1 (before) and Image 2 (after): * Dinner roll added Image 2 * Cranberry sauce added Image 2 * Bread Stuffing side item added Image 2 * Mash Potato on plate Image 1 * Mash Potatoin bowl Image 2 * Plate looks fuller Image 2

The overall vibes were casual in a nice way -- nothing too aggressively themed, just a good and bright breakfast spot. Our server, Bonnie, was friendly and helpful. My mom got an egg sandwich with grits and vegetarian sausage (yay!). Our food came pretty quickly, and I hoovered up everything on my plate. Everything tasted the way you'd expect: just good breakfast food. The hash browns had a crisp top, which is vital for me. The malted waffle stood out the most; I could smell it the second our server walked out of the kitchen with it and I ate the whole thing, even though I frequently split a waffle and take half home for later. The muffin was good, but a special shoutout for the option to have it split, buttered, and lightly grilled. I immediately requested my mom start trying that with her own blueberry muffins next time I'm over. It's a little pricey, but what isn't these days? It sure hit the spot.
