Great roasted chicken. Best tostones/plantains in Jacksonville and the sauce that comes with it is amazing. Very friendly. Although they really advertise the burger, which is great, this is a Latin restaurant with very good Latin food. The soup is excellent ,as are the arepas. The owner Anna is very proud of her food and she is awesome. The downside is she may be the only person among the wait staff who could speak English, and it has affected getting my order correct a few times in the past. But bring a translator, and you will be okay. read more

A hidden gem for sure! I looked up Burgers on Yelp and found this place and OMG I am so happy I did. La Nota has that flavor in its food that you know that food was made freshly and with lots of love. We ordered the Monstruo burger which had ham, egg, cheese, bacon and even chicken Milaneza! Best bite I've had in a while. We also had the special of the day which was a thinly sliced steak with white rice, beans and yuca (I chose this as a substitute for plantains). Everything was on point. The service was great and everyone was attentive and nice. The restaurant also has a small market that makes it feel homey. Absolutely a hidden gem of a latin restaurant. This is some of the best latin food i've had anywhere. The place is very unsuspecting from he outside as it's located in a plaza where it doesn't seem a restaurant should be. They offer takeout, but you can also sit down and order if you'd like. Their menu is expansive, with platos, arepas, sandwiches, and more. I got a cuban which was delicious. The bread was grilled amazingly and the meat, mustard, and pickles all worked in tandem and made an amazing sandwich. It also comes with fries., which were surprisingly good and well cooked, alongside a salsa verde/ crema which was my favorite part. I also got to try the nota arepa, which had egg, pulled pork, and cheese on it. Admittedly it was very oily, but it was absolutely delicious. Genuinely the best arepa i've had, and dipping it / spreading the sauce in it with each bite sealed the deal. I definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting great latin food. If you're looking for a cute mom and pop shop for good Latin food this is it. There were no people when we arrived, but I loved that it gave me the opportunity to look over the menu and talk with staff. The owner's daughter tended to us and was super sweet. So even if you don't speak Spanish, there is someone to help. Plenty of food options. We loved the arepas, empanadas to start. Our entrees came with the main meat, rice, beans and side salad. Reminded me of home. Get the caramel cake and the cafe. The owner gave us a slice for free and I will tell you it was so delicious. I am kicking myself for not getting a picture of our entrées because the food was just everything. Truly a hidden gem that is tucked away that is worth giving a try. This Venezuelan restaurant is on southside near my house and although convenient to get to, I had stopped coming because the service wasn't the best. My aunt and I were hungry and we decided to give it a shot. To our surprise, they've expanded their space which now is much roomier and more seating. The service was exceptional from the moment we sat down. From the waitresses to the cashier. The food was delicious as well, flavors were great. We got the tequeños which are my favorite (way better version of mozzarella sticks) not pictured because we were famished . My aunt got the mondongo which is thicker soup filled with veggies and tripe. I got the vaca frita which is essentially what you see there. We each got juices which were great as well. This place really is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is welcoming, almost like being in someone's home. The staff could not be nicer, taking time to answer questions and offer suggestions. And the food. Well the food is exceptional. The chef not only cooks with love but she also bakes. I had the Mondongo (tripe soup) and was so full I could not eat dessert. But I will be saving room next time. Nobody should go to this place, I placed a takeout order online via yelp/grubhub. It was supposed to take 20-30 mins, on the tracking screen it's showing the restaurant hasn't Even started the order almost 30 mins in, right as I'm about to cancel it finally shows this restaurant having received and preparing my order. At 8:10 it lists my order as being ready for pickup. I arrive at 8:15, all lights are off, all doors are locked, I call the restaurant get no answer. This place was listed as being open until 9, I'm honestly flabbergasted as to what exactly happened here. Someone had to input that my order was being prepared despite the fact they had clearly been closed for a fair amount of time tonight. Wasted over a hour of my time and tried to steal from me in the process, fortunately grubhub refunded me but doesn't get my time back. My husband and I were in Jacksonville for a Bible quizzing tournament. Our Airbnb was 3 minutes from the church and right behind a row of restaurants and businesses. La Nota was one them, so we decided to try it out. We got hamburgers the first day. They were good, but - BUT... the sweet waitress and cashier brought us out some mini empanadas on the house, just to sample. WELL!! I had to go back the next day to get the real, larger ones. We also got some arepas the second day. Our teen son with two hollow legs ordered 6 empanadas and was full at the end of 5 and saved the other for the trip home. My husband ordered the soup and was quite pleased. Let me tell you - I would like to transport La Nota to my neighborhood and right behind my own house. I invited friends who were also in town for the tournament to go to La Nota and they were equally impressed. Do yourself a favor and go today! The hamburgers are good, yeah, but not what you should order. Get the empanadas, the arepas, and the soup!! read more
