Queso Frito / Fried Cheese

Everything they make is absolutely delicious. You can't go wrong with anything you order. The fried cheese is a must! Make sure to get the hot sauce with it. Service and ambiance is great! Perfect place for a date night.

This place is a gem and the place to go if you are looking for awesome priced Dominican food! Option to sit outside which is nice but clean welcoming interior. Must try the fried cheese! Comes with hot sauces that are delicious.

I've passed by this place several times and it's usually packed and sounds of a good time spill out into the street. That should have been an indicator the food inside is tasty. I had a craving for Latin food. I called my order in. I got the appetizer Dom style fried chicken with plantains underneath I also ordered a beef empanada. The empanada was good, nothing special but executed as a empanada should be. I don't remember having Dom style fried chicken before this but it most certainly won't be my last time. The chicken pieces were so juicy and flavorful but not overly seasoned. The plantains were cooked perfectly and everything was hot and ready when I arrived. I'm already thinking about what I'm ordering next time I go!

I took my granddaughter there for her 20th birthday. The food was delicious! It came out hot and the fragrance from each dish was amazing. My granddaughter and mom had Pollo Guisado and they enjoyed it immensely and I had Mofongo with pork and plantains, it was really delicious. Dinning was in doors as well as outside. There was plenty of space for a family gathering too! We don't drink but they did look delectable.

Great Puerto Rican food! The empanadas were a good starter/treat. The pernil was a little fatty but so flavorful and tasty, not dry at all. The meat juice was so good that you don't even need the mojito garlic sauce. The mofongo also had a lot of flavor and was not as dry as other places. Wish that the beans come with both meals but they only come with the meals that have rice as the side not mofongo. That fine though as the beans were just okay but not great. Meals come with a basic iceberg lettuce salad, I just ate the lettuce with the the pork. I even took some pork home to make a sandwich the next day. Will be back from the pernil soon! Prices

A lunch favorite for my team. Big portions. Great prices. My favorite is the arroz con pollo. Oh and that fried chicken chicharonnes de pollo, so so good. The service is friendly and fast. It feels like eating at grandmas kitchen. Definitely worth a little drive off Roosevelt Blvd.

Amazing Food & Service. They also offer some cute seating options which were nice for a birthday celebration. The only con is no free refills. I highly recommend the shrimp and rice and Pina coladas

Puerto Plato Restaurant offers well priced lunch specials and a pleasant patio to enjoy both a lovely day and a great meal. When ordering, you go up to a window and place your order. The lunch specials today were baked chicken, fried chicken, pork chops or rice with chicken. I went with the baked chicken and chose the yellow rice, black beans and the green plantains. With tax, the lunch special was under nine dollars and it was a chicken leg quarter with the above mentioned items. The chicken was pretty good, as was the yellow rice. I am not a fan of plantains, either sweet or green, and with one bite I confirmed that my taste had not changed concerning plantains. The black beans were sadly not good. Overseasoned and not in a good way. The food took a bit longer than I expected it to come out, but not terribly so. The woman at the window was also friendly. Overall, I will give this establishment four stars. It was a good alternative and all (with the exception of the black beans) was pretty good.

Got seated right away, but up front by the bar where there were only four tables. We were the only eating in diners up front, but takeout people waited at a couple of the other tables. We ended with a different server halfway through the meal, not sure why both were pretty good. Fried cheese appetizer was excellent. My wife had rice and shrimp and I had spicy shrimp. I had the option of white or yellow rice, I picked yellow. I had the choice of red or black beans, I chose red. The red beans were ok. Overall, we really enjoyed our entrees. The shrimps were large and cooked to perfection and the rice was excellent. The spicy shrimp was just that, spicy. It wasn't burn your mouth hot at all, but it definitely made me sweat . I would definitely order that dish again.

My husband had the Cuban sandwich, I had the beef empanada and our daughter had the Dominican fried chicken. All of the dishes were so tasty. Served was very friendly and she came to our table to get our order quickly. The music is a total vibe. Wants to make you get up and dance.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch with my bestie trying out their Arepas! It was a little after lunch rush but…read morestill had a good number of customers in the restaurant. The server was really friendly and recommended some great options for us. We ordered the following: 1) THE QUEEN - classic Venezuelan "chicken salad" with their home-made avocado mayo, cilantro and sliced avocados (also known as the Reina Pepiada). Fresh with a great balance of umami flavors! The cilantro green sauce was an amazing add-on with a little spicy kick! 2) PORKO LOCO - slow cooked pork marinated in red wine with queso blanco. Tender, moist, and very flavorful. Amazing! 3) CACHAPA - soft crispy pancake made with sweet corn and fried cheese in the middle. Flavor bomb of sweet and savory! 4) EMPANADA (BEEF) - tender, shredded beef with great flavor of savory. The dipping sauce was white, tangy, vinegary, creamy with a slight spiciness. Delicious! 5) SOURSOP JUICE - rare to find restaurants with this drink. Ate the actual fruits in my homeland in SE Asia. The juice was milky/creamy, sweet with an earthy taste. Great health benefits eating or drinking soursop -- antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, etc. Other notable item was the Passion Fruit Juice however, I did not try it. My bestie really liked it. Overall, wonderful experience at the restaurant of the food, service and great interior feeling creating a great ambiance. Definitely will visit again and try out more menu items.

There was island music playing in the background to set the vibe, along with a map of the Caribbean at every table. My jerk chicken came out quickly and was delicious. The plantains were the perfect consistency, which is important to me because some places dry them out. I asked for a side of pepper sauce and it's quite hot, so consider yourself warned! While I was dining, the owner, Peter, came over and was chatting with the patrons. The ladies at the next table clearly knew him well, and I love that there are local relationships at the restaurant. It was fascinating hearing about his transition from the finance industry in Trinidad to being a restaurant entrepreneur! I only wish I had had had space to try the rum cake. It would be a joy to come back to Irie Diner and support a local business!
