When the owner/master chef is prepping and cooking the homemade fresh food in the kitchen, then you know the food is going to taste amazingly good! My very first visit brought back fun foodie memories when visiting Puerto Rico several times and eating many homemade dishes when I lived In NJ. My favorite Latin sounds could be heard while outside of the restaurant and more so upon entering. The interior decor was spacious and made me feel like I was away on vacation in P.R. Staff was welcoming and friendly. The owner helped make me feel at home and was super professional. Then came the food and my refreshing non-alcoholic drink. My appetizer was a lobster empanada...Oh my how yummy! One of the lunch specials of the day was a Chinese Puerto Rican fusion style fried rice platter. My choice of protein was the popular fried pork chunks. French fries and an egg roll were included in the platter. Another popular favorite condiment was the "Mayo-Ketchup" sauce that one can drizzle on the food and as much as you please! To help wash down and add a nice sweet balance to the food, I ordered the "Guayaba" fruit juice. Fruity and tropical taste of its own. I skipped breakfast knowing that this visit would require some nice portions to enjoy. I was right and very pleased with the overall taste of the food. If you haven't had Latin food from the Caribbean then hopefully you'll consider visiting Flavorikan and try some of their cuisine. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. read more

We had really high hopes for this place. It looks very cozy, like you're walking into a mom and pop place. Service was not great, they tell you to grab a menu and seat yourself, which was fine but the lady at the front seemed busy and couldnt greet us. Juices tasted watered down, rice tasted almost like it was old. The only great thing here was the steak and the deep fried pork, otherwise we will not be back but this place has potential if they provide better service and keep consistency in their food. read more

The way we were "greeted" at the door has a lot left to be desired. The decor in the establishment is all over the place. The waitress was rude to my wife. The food was okay, but over-seasoned. Someone also wrote on one of the empanadas with a sharpie... Would not recommend. read more

There are not a lot of options for GOOD Puerto Rican food in Jacksonville and Flavorikan hits the spot every time. The food tastes just like home, and is all cooked to order. My favorite thing about the restaurant is the feel of it. You walk in and are greeted with a friendly smile and there is always amazing music playing. read more

Double check your order. My carry-out order was a simple order of chicken and rice, but they substituted fries without even telling me.

I had a work event at Toon Town and was thrilled to know I could grab lunch here afterwards. Comida boricua is my soul food, so I was so excited. I wasn't even hungry, but I had to have something! Folks, the food I chose/received was really tasty, but the service was a turnoff to the point I'll think twice before next time. It felt like my time was an imposition, truly. I walked in, no greeting. I got a menu, looked at it for a few minutes then moved to the bar to place a to-go order. I think he said I should place it at the front, but the music was pretty loud so I'm not sure. He took my order: one pionono, one alcapurria de pollo. He came back and said something about "alcapurria fresh out" and I thought he meant out of the fryer. I went ahead and added yuca frita to the order. I waited for a bit (fine, since the yuca had to be cooked) and when I got to my car... no alcapurria! I went back in, and he said, "I told you we were out." Hmm. Ok. Thanks...? I didn't hear..? And in hindsight, maybe you could suggest another item?? But whatever. The empanadilla de pionono (gr beef, potatoes, sweet plantains) was delicious, as were the fries and accompanying garlic sauce. I asked if they have a happy hour and was told that tomorrow, Saturday, they will have live music and sell Medalla cans (10oz), 2 for $6. Idk if that's every week or not. Between the loud music and the lackadaisical attitude, there didn't seem to be much interest in me spending much of my time or money there today. So be it. I have options. read more

I was trying to wait out the inclement weather to get into the jazz fest nearby. I wasn't the only one. This place had packed tables, bar, and line for togo orders. I wanted to keep my order simple. If I were to have eaten a full meal, I would have gotten sleepy waiting to get into the festival. I ordered a crab empanada and a lobster empanada. Both were quite delicious, but the crab would make me return to this restaurant. So tasty! This is good Puerto Rican food!! There was live music, and the talent sounded like an album. Great voices! I will definitely return to eat a full meal. read more

I have been going to Flavorikan since the food truck on Atlantic days and during the pandemic. I've tried several Puerto Rican restaurants in Jacksonville and I have to say they are my favorite. Especially, since they've opened a brick and mortar. The downtown location may seem questionable to some, but don't let that fool you. Also I've never felt unsafe. Once you step inside, you feel the Caribbean vibe. On the day I went, which was a Saturday, they had karaoke. I loved that there was a lot of interaction with the guests. They have a regular menu and then there are the specials of the day. If you're not afraid to try something new, I would always recommend trying something from the special of the day. I also love that the food is full of flavor and never lacking. Also like the adult capri sun's and drink options. Would recommend. read more

Wife and I have eaten inside the restaurant twice and the food has been pretty good, 7/10 overall. Service and hospitality 6.5/10. The BIGGEST complaint are the nachos. Most of the entrees that we've ordered came with nachos, they offer these instead of fries or chips. And each time, the nachos have been stale. The first time, they were stale but somewhat edible. A few were a little crunchy. The second visit though, they were so stale that they were chewy (zero crunch) so we just ended up throwing them away. Such a waste as they put cheese and meat on them too. We mentioned it to the staff and they literally had nothing to say. A simple solution would be to either reheat the nachos in an oven before serving, or offer alternate sides. French fries would be great. Maybe even potato sticks or plantains. Overall, worth a visit to try the main entrees, but beware the nachos lol read more

Browsing my delivery app for a new food to try, their place popped up. After seeing the empanadas it was a wrap. I ordered the Mariscos (Seafood), Langosta (Lobster), and Jueyes (Crab) Empanadillas and couldn't wait to get them. When they finally delivered they were still hot through the bag. As I layer them out to take photos my coworkers were asking me all kinds of questions about them. I finally bit into one and OMG this is the real deal. Nothing fake or imitation here. They were so good I should have ordered more. Definitely found a gem. I must tell my man about the Morcilla and Alcapurria. read more

Authentic Puerto Rican food at a decent price. Food was really good. Ive been twice and will continue to go back!

Good food and cool staff. It was sketchy that you have to venmo for payment. Should have some sort of official payment setup. The chicken, rice and beans was good but had too much garlic. Sent me to the bathroom quick. The food tasted very fresh and I will give another try because I support all my Boricuans! Just a few minor changes needed to go from good to great! read more

The food was very good. The service was also good. The food definitely looks how they presented to you online seasoning 10 out of 10. I definitely don't have any complaint. I would definitely recommend this spot if you love your Spanish food you could come down here and have a good old time, listening to music and eating good food. read more

Flavorikan has been one of those places I've been wanting to try. That day came when my buddy, my friend, a fellow Boricuan (Puerto Rican) suggested we eat here. Flavorikan is a stationary food truck, which is situated in a parking lot, setup with tables with blue and red Puerto Rican themed umbrellas. Walking up to the counter you'll smell a small hint of that delicious aroma. Checkout their menu... BUT BE PREPARED TO PATIENTLY WAIT AFTER YOU'VE PLACED YOUR ORDER. In exception to their Empanadas, everything here is made from scratch. I've noticed that people who frequent this place doesn't seem to mind waiting because they know what they'll get it return....delicious food. Once you get your food, have a seat, take a bite, close your eyes and just enjoy your food and listen to the Reggaeton music playing loudly in the background. It'll feel as if you're in the island. I know it did for me. My song "Tusa" (sung by Karol G) came on and me and my boy was singing out loud (insert scratched record sound). Folks, the food here taste authentic. I have Boricuan friends that swears by this place. There's nothing else to tell ya. Ay Dios Mios...hurry up and get your Culo to Flavorikan. read more

Flavorikan brings the authentic taste of Puerto Rico to Jacksonville and does it with heart. The mofongo, alcapurrias, and juicy alcapurrias are packed with bold flavors that transport you straight to the island. I ordered to-go and even watched people dancing as they waited, great vibes and fast service. It's a cozy spot with a casual, lively atmosphere that feels like home. Just be sure to arrive early, it's popular and sometimes crowded. Highly recommend if you're craving true Puerto Rican flavor! read more

Food is over price, and a glass of ice with juice $5!!!. Empanada $6!!. Not recommended

Hidden gem. The outside is bright, music playing, seating area. Its a really cute setup. Everyone was super nice, the good was beyond good. They have alot to choose from. I ordered 3 empanadas: crab, lobster, and beef/cheese/plaintain. I also ordered the fried cheese, pork belly (its a large app), and mufungo. I'll get 3 meals, or more out of it, bit wanted to try a variety. This is a must try food truck. It sits back in a parking lot by a car dealership, and just past/across from an ihop on Atlantic. They had frappes that looked delicious, but I figured I would save that for another day. Ill definitely be back read more

Great place for good Hispanic food and a good time. Stephanie is the owner and wonderful person.

This place is basically still a food truck. The fact that you have to ask for everything at the front every single time such as your food, all your drinks, even a to-go box is insane. The guy who working the register was, taking shots of fireball in front of the guest. The service absolutely sucked! we were told a wait of 40 minutes to an hour and ended up waiting two hours and a half! I would never recommend this place read more

I've heard of this place long before I got a chance to give it a try. Today was the day! Location wise, it's situated great for games or eats when you don't want the usual tailgate food (it's so close to the stadium you can walk there) however it's not really in an ideal spot for "foot traffic". I went around lunch time and it seems that this is the spot to eat at if your anywhere near here. There was a constant flow of people. The decor, smells, and vibes screamed Puerto Rico. The counter top has a warmer full of empanadas, all sorts, kinds I never even heard of. I ordered a beef empanada, the pork bites plate, and a sandwich for my husband. The empanada almost didn't make it home. I took a bite in the car and couldn't help taking another and another. There were 2 sauces given so I figured I should save a small piece so that I could use the sauce provided. One sauce was spicy (similar to a hot sauce) the other was like a mayo base with a pinkish color. Both were good, especially together. The pork bite plate was good. The pork itself was tasty and cooked really well. The outside was crunchy and the inside was moist. The rice wasn't bad but I expected more flavor. The salad was wilted by the time I got to it. I think it was the heat from the other food. It would probably be best to separate them when it's a to-go order. The Cubano sandwich was huge, like cover the plate huge and my husband said it was really good (mind you, it was on the cold side when he ate it and that was still his response). As far as payment goes, they do not accept cards, only venmo, cash app, or zelle. That could pose a issue for some, like older customers who may not use those and don't have cash available. I did have minor difficulty understanding the menu, Spanish is the first language of the establishment. The specials for the day were in Spanish without translation underneath. The menu does have translation so that's a plus. Now let's talk about the wait...that's what I took off stars for. I understand it was the lunch rush but I waited for some time just for take out. I also noticed many of the customers that opted to fine in waiting on there food as well. I would suggest definitely calling in your order, or wondering online if you don't want to wait. I saw so many other things I wanted to try on the menu. I most certainly will be back read more

This has to be- hands down the best Puerto Rican Restaurant/Food truck in Jax & St. Augustine. Now it's not in the prettiest side of town, and for me it's a little hard to get to, but since I was returning back from a business trip, I figured, i would give it a shot!!! This place definitely gave me NYC flashback. We ordered Alcapurrias of Yuca. SOOOOO GOOD!! Although I prefer de guineo . We also had their Empanada of Pionono- AMAZING!! Last but not Least we had their chicken pinchos (kebab). Off da hook! The prices were terrific!! Almost forgot our nation is battling an inflation! Aesthetically-They tried their best - it's in a car dealership and In the center is their food truck. They decorated the chairs, & flags per table of the Puerto Rican flag colors. There was a DJ which made it a fun atmosphere. But one thing I will say- every person that came and ordered they said the wait would be 45 minutes so I suggest- call ahead. There is seating but it's all outside, remember, it's a food truck. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. I wouldn't normally write anything below a three star experience, but we did attempt to raise the issue at the restaurant, and were dismissed, and then given a side of attitude. The music was so loud it hit over 100 dB far beyond safe hearing levels. We could barely hear each other even yelling. That alone is a deal breaker for me. Then the food took almost an hour to come out. By the time it did, we had to leave for our daughter's event so we asked for it to go. When we did, there was no consideration of the wait, and we watched the kitchen staff roll their eyes and literally take the plates and dump them sideways in a box. Not to mention, we also experienced a live stream thst got positioned right in front of us while we were waiting, capturing us in the shot without any ask of permission. The food itself was nowhere near the traditional Puerto Rican that we are accustomed to and maybe that is the point. However, the fried pork chunks were seriously overcooked, and the bistec sandwich was so salty we couldn't eat it. My husband went to the food truck once before and had vowed not to go back the first time. The brick and mortar did not change our minds and we will not return nor recommend this experience. read more

Food may be good but I'll never know. They weren't smart enough to put their correct location in Uber Eats so when I ordered, I waited an hour and 45 mins just to find out that their address wasn't registered accurately with Uber. ¡La mejor experiencia gastronómica de todas! ¡Mi lugar de comida favorito para siempre! The atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the music, the people; are all tens across the board. This is my first review, but I've been here twice as both times my husband repeats, "My mouth is so happy right now, the flavors are dancing on my tongue." My husband is NOT a dancer, I repeat, he will refuse to two-step, but this food had him in a shimmy I had never seen before! You can't help but snap pictures of your plentiful plate and marvel at just how beautiful everything looks. This isn't the number one place I refer to my friends and colleagues. I don't make the food, but I sure am popular for pointing people in the right direction. If you allow yourself to sit and take in the atmosphere while you eat, you will be blissfully trapped in a bubble of Puerto Rico that you will not forget. We've put it on our calendar to frequent this place at least once a month ***whispers - maybe once a week***. It's THAT good! I forgot to mention I could cut that juicy churrasco with a plastic knife! A PLASTIC KNIFE!!!! Holy Mother of cutlery! The pina colada smoothie had a cookie, a pineapple, a popsicle, cherry, cream, and sprinkles that all worked to the greater good of flavor! I have never had a pina colada smoothie like this! Don't get me started on those crunchy delicious empanadas!!! SCRUMPTIOUS! Mofongo...mmmmmm mmm mmm. Ma'am! read more

Save yourself the heart ache. I came here from Savannah because of all the good reviews. Sadly I was very disappointed. The food was overrated and expensive for what you get. The carne frita was over fried and dry, the chimichurri sauce was bland and watered down. The churrasco was over cooked and the flavor wasn't that good, the mofongo was lacking in flavor and not the right consistency and the tostones de pana were not good. The only good thing about this place is the fried yuca. The food looks good but doesn't actually taste good. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico so I know it's hard finding good Puerto Rican food out here but damn these reviews honestly felt deceiving. read more

I have to give this truck 5 stars because it is the only Puerto rican food truck doing it like how it's done in Puerto Rico and Orlando. There is a huge variety on the menu with all the culture's favorites from the sandwiches to the empandadas to the entree meals. They even have the famous frapes and limbers. I ordered and enjoyed the tripelta sandwich. I really loved the loaded pana with the mixed meats. The bets thing I tasted was the mixed seafood empanadas. I would definitely eat like four of those lol. Also the cheesecake limber was amazing. I will be back to this place. read more
