This is my second time at this restaurant. From the outside kinda looks just like a regular storefront business but the one thing is the food is great! The service is good too sometimes there's a little bit of a way because it's always busy. Every time I have gone they've had karaoke and it gets a little loud but it's such a fun place. I came here with a couple of coworkers for lunch. They have a great menu but during lunch they instruct the waitresses to limit what people order to what's already prepared. I understand the strategy but that's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. The food that we ordered was great. Appetizer pork chicharon was crispy and delicious. I had a goat stew with white rice. I will never be coming back here. The customer service is horrible. You wait over 30 minutes just to get food that's supposed to be already prepared. The server girls were playing with their hair, eating and drinking stuff while working and serving food. My first and last time here. They even brought the wrong dish of food out and weren't apologetic or did anything about it. On top of that the music is so loud inside forget hearing someone or trying to have a conversation. Terrible atmosphere. Extremely limited menu and extremely loud. I asked to please turn down the volume of the music and they didn't so we just got up and left. If you're hungry, don't come here as the menu only has daily specials and all are similar so the option is limited. read more

She gave two great reviews, so I put it on the list of places for me and wifey to try. Today was the day! We were thinking about brunch, but yet wanted something different. Will I call it authentic Dominican food, as a DR born Dominican & raised in NYC with delicious Dominican restaurants I will say NO.. I walked in and there was cumbia playing which is fine considering being a Hispanic restaurant and wanting to be inclusive I guess (when I walk into local PR restaurants it feels like I'm in PR with music and vibes this restaurant did not give Dominican vibes), second their snacks and deserts were conchas and other Mexican items, their drinks were jarritos again Mexican drink..no jugó de tamarindo, no jugó de chinola, no jugó de cereza, no jugó de guanábana, etc...The food looked old and the chicharrón looked like a bite will either break your teeth or choke you to death with how dry and burnt it was. Las costillas were burnt and the rice looked like it was left over or reheated and it was only 12PM NOON. Overall I walked in and was so disappointed, that I only ordered fried cheese and salami (waited 20 minutes and she wanted me to wait 45 mins for 3 golpes) because you can't mess that up. I was so embarrassed to take my friends to this "Dominican" place that I found because I genuinely feel this is not an authentic representation of our culture! read more

This is a fantastic find for anyone who enjoys the inspiration from people who love to cook and share their culture. My first visit was today - but is now on my go to list of places to enjoy. Jam was our server - also Jam is the daughter of an incredible lady, Mom, who is the chef and owner. Words are inadequate to describe the delicious recipes that all of their recipes share. They are masters of slow cooking - pick your protein. I enjoyed their Ox-Tail stew- the best I have ever tasted, anywhere. Thank you Jam for wonderful service and give your Mom our sincere appreciation for the love and dedication she pours her heart and soul into every day. The is restaurant is a treasure. A lovely wife and husband, Anna and Gabriel, own and operate this heavenly restaurant. It is the best Authentic Caribbean food I've enjoyed in the US in recent memory. This hidden gem was truly an unexpected culinary delight. Anna, la maestro chef, runs the kitchen with the authenticity of a homegrown culinary expert of Dominican origin. I almost feel bad for the so mentioned wife and husband who run this restaurant, as other reviewers have mentioned them... I am so not a person for leaving bad or even negative reviews, I'm easy to please when eating out but this place... Me and my family were marking our way back home from Gatlinburg, Tennessee to Miami, FL. My parents decided that they wanted to have soup and Latin food, after all, we're Latinos and we all needed some rice and beans for lunch. After viewing a few options and knowing it was almost 4:30 pm on a Sunday I decided to go to La Gran Parada. HUGE MISTAKE. As soon as I walked into the restaurant I felt out of place, one of the servers (wearing red lipstick and a red tshirt) approached me and my sister and LITERALLY looked up and down at her TWICE, without manners or hospitality. I instantly got annoyed by that but decided that maybe it was just her way of being. I then asked her for a menu so we could see what they have and ask my parents for their choice, the waitress seemed so annoyed and played the "I don't understand what you mean" card, she speaks Spanish, so do I (VERY fluently as it is my first language) so I don't get what's so hard to understand when I said that if I could please take a look at the menu first. When I was finally handed the menu she proceeded to ask if we were going to dine in or place an order to go, like, calm down, you have barely handed me the menu but you are rushing me already. My dad walked in and told them we would dine in, I went out to get my mom and my sister went to the restroom, I was back to the entrance again as my mom and dad were getting some stuff from our car, so I decided to sat down on the couch they have for waiting meanwhile my sister was still in the restroom. That simple thing also seemed to annoy the same lady that "welcomed us" as she came to me and DEMANDED me I followed her saying "ven, sígueme" sharply and without even saying please of having a nice tone, just said that and turned around. I wasn't even bothering anybody as that area was alone and I was waiting on somebody. At the table we were assigned another waitress and she was rushing us to get our orders even thought I asked her to give us one second whilst I got everybody at the table. She was not polite and didn't even acknowledge my sister and I when we said "Gracias" after being tended the water we bought after having her rushing us out again. Afterwards I can't even recall anything as I was already disgusted by the personnel attitude and lack of real customer service skills. I can't even understand how this place has good reviews, the only person the waitress was slightly nice to in my party was my dad which was also a little weird to us. Food was NOT tasty, it needed more salt which they don't even have at the tables but whatever we still ate it because we just wanted to leave. Portions are big but it's quite a nonsense thing compared to the bad service and tasteless food you get. We got 2 soups, salads (which are literally lettuce and two slices of tomato), pork and shredded beef. None of it had a remarkable flavor to be honest. The place was barely busy when we walked in, there were a few tables empty and the food did arrive in a timely manner (two nice things) It's safe to say we will never be back to this place and would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. read more

Being that I am Dominican, I try to support my local hispanics with their business by consuming their product. I have been at this restaurant 3 times counting today, and on all 3 occassions the service has been horrible. The waitress told me there was a 20 minute wait on "pollo frito" as an appetizer, therefore being that I was on my lunch break I decided to order 2 pastelitos to go, 1 chicken & 1 cheese. (simple right?). Well needless to say 26 minutes later I left without the patelitos nor the pollo frito. After a 13 minute wait the waitress tells me they did not have one of the patelitos I had ordered, so I said let me have 2 of the same. 13 minutes later nothing. The lady in the kitchen appeared to see me squirming around looking for my waitress and asked out loud to one of the waitress what was I waiting for. My waitress who was no where to be found finally yelled out the patelitos. 26 minutes later I left, and wound up going to Arbys for better service. Every single time I have gone to this place the service has been horrible. It honestly seemed as if they did not want to waste their time with such a small order. Common sense says if you know that during lunch hours you will be busy then you need to hire more staff, or have simple food such as a patelito readily available. No one should have to wait almost 30 minutes for 2 patelitos. However, you might be asking why do I keep going back?......I have had friends order food for me from this place to go, and I will admit the food taste good. The questions is, is it worth the long wait and/or the bad service? It all depends on how hungry you are, and how patient you are. If I were to recomend this place I would say order over the phone ahead of time, and/or eat before you come because you will be waiting a while and they dont seem to care. read more

The food store is fine but the small restaurant is amazing! Crispy but melt in your mouth chichironnes, burritos, fantastic chorizo quesadillas, also chicken, beef and others and amazing homemade Mexican enchiladas w butter soft pork chunks and a nice kick from their salsa verde. Try the red hot salsa too.. wooooooie! Be sure to walk over to the cooler for your favorite Latin soda. Mine is the Fresca from the Honduras with real sugar. $6 for most quesadillas. read more
