The food was great! The place was located in a little sketchy part of town, I actually hesitated in even stopping. Very limited parking spots, the waitresses cater to the male customers but overall we went to eat the food which we don't have back home, and the food did not disappoint.

Clean tour establishment and hire better servers

I will never be coming back here. The customer service is horrible. You wait over 30 minutes just to get food that's supposed to be already prepared. The server girls were playing with their hair, eating and drinking stuff while working and serving food. My first and last time here. They even brought the wrong dish of food out and weren't apologetic or did anything about it. On top of that the music is so loud inside forget hearing someone or trying to have a conversation. Go elsewhere. The floors are dirty here too.

Small Business Spotlight So I am always looking for the Mom and Pop hidden spot in Jacksonville and La Gran Parada is one of those Spot 4 Sho! Gabriel and his family have turned what was a small grocery into a small restaurant serving delicious Dominican influenced dishes with huge portions and very fun environment on the weekends . The Pictures are from 2 separate visit, within a week of each other, (Don't Judge Me!) Because I enjoyed the first visit so much. The Bistec Picante with White Rice & Beans or the Ropa Vieja with Yellow Rice & Beans, both were Delicioso!! La Gran Parada isn't fancy or trying to be more than it really Is, But put on you Jeans and best t-shirt and prepare to eat well and leave with your very own Food Baby! Say hi to Gabriel and tell him Big Rich Sent Me

The food here is authentic delicious that's hits the soul.Real Dominican flavors now I have a place that replaced my ex wife cooking . Whenever I'm in town I got to hit this place.

Shredded beef, yellow rice and beans. Ox tails were also very good.

I am from NYC and this reminds me of some of my favorite spots back home. Food is very good, the service is always great & friendly. I eat here at least 2-3 times a month since I have found out about it.

When I tell you the food here is delicious, I mean just that! I found this place through my Facebook friend Malissa, in a food group we're both members of. She gave two great reviews, so I put it on the list of places for me and wifey to try. Today was the day! We were thinking about brunch, but yet wanted something different. I suggested this place and they did not disappoint! We had the baked chicken & yellow rice, Oxtails & Rice/Peas, side salads, Plantains, and pork rinds. Everything was fresh, authentic, and delicious! We will definitely be back.

    Very clean and friendly staff

Finally got to try this place and I really was pleased with the overall experience. Everything in this place look fresh and delicious, I wanted to try everything. Will definitely be one of my favorite to go places for Latin food.

But I really wanted to get something. Communcation was a bit difficult, so instead of having them explain, I just got something I never and something I knew what it was. I ordered the Cuban sandwich, Chicken patty, and the Chicharron. They said it would take about 15 min for my sandwich..... ok, they gave me the Chicken patty right away. Finally got the sandwich, they forgot the Chicharron (I should have too) I wasn't expecting a foot long Cuban sandwich at all. I wouldn't have ordered the other items. It was full of flavor. I know the buns are toasted, but it was a little too hard for my pallet. The Chicharron, was crunchy yet tuff, but had a lot of flavor. I was so full, I ate the chicken patty the next day. It had a lot of flavor and the crust was flaky.! The guy that checked me out said........I will be back I might on Wed - Fridays they sell Ribs

The server was really friendly and recommended some great options for us. We ordered the following: 1) THE QUEEN - classic Venezuelan "chicken salad" with their home-made avocado mayo, cilantro and sliced avocados (also known as the Reina Pepiada). Fresh with a great balance of umami flavors! The cilantro green sauce was an amazing add-on with a little spicy kick! 2) PORKO LOCO - slow cooked pork marinated in red wine with queso blanco. Tender, moist, and very flavorful. Amazing! 3) CACHAPA - soft crispy pancake made with sweet corn and fried cheese in the middle. Flavor bomb of sweet and savory! 4) EMPANADA (BEEF) - tender, shredded beef with great flavor of savory. The dipping sauce was white, tangy, vinegary, creamy with a slight spiciness. Delicious! 5) SOURSOP JUICE - rare to find restaurants with this drink. Ate the actual fruits in my homeland in SE Asia. The juice was milky/creamy, sweet with an earthy taste. Great health benefits eating or drinking soursop -- antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, etc. Other notable item was the Passion Fruit Juice however, I did not try it. My bestie really liked it. Overall, wonderful experience at the restaurant of the food, service and great interior feeling creating a great ambiance. Definitely will visit again and try out more menu items.

There was island music playing in the background to set the vibe, along with a map of the Caribbean at every table. My jerk chicken came out quickly and was delicious. The plantains were the perfect consistency, which is important to me because some places dry them out. I asked for a side of pepper sauce and it's quite hot, so consider yourself warned! While I was dining, the owner, Peter, came over and was chatting with the patrons. The ladies at the next table clearly knew him well, and I love that there are local relationships at the restaurant. It was fascinating hearing about his transition from the finance industry in Trinidad to being a restaurant entrepreneur! I only wish I had had had space to try the rum cake. My husband had the Parihuela and the Seco de Res, and he loved every bite as well. What made our experience truly special was the attention and care from the chef and manager. She came to our table personally and listened to my desire to enjoy something a little different while still respecting my special diet. Her kindness, professionalism, and willingness to accommodate me meant so much. She is truly one of the best chefs -- someone who genuinely cares about pleasing her customers and making them feel welcome. Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience.

What an unbelievably disappointing experience…read more We chose Sabor Mix because of its impressive 4.6-star rating and a menu filled with dishes that looked absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, we never got to taste a single bite because of what has to be one of the most absurd customer service experiences we've had at a restaurant. We arrived around 6:30 PM for dinner and were only the second customers in the restaurant. It was so empty that we weren't even sure they were open. We made what we thought was the simplest request imaginable--a plate of spaghetti with olive oil and garlic for our child. The waitress returned and informed us that the chef could not make it. Read that again. Plain spaghetti with olive oil and garlic. We honestly thought she was joking. Instead, we were left standing there feeling embarrassed, almost as if we had made some outrageous request. It's pasta, olive oil, and garlic--ingredients found in virtually every kitchen serving Italian-inspired dishes. The idea that a chef couldn't--or wouldn't--prepare something so basic was mind-blowing. If the restaurant has a rigid policy that absolutely nothing outside the printed menu can be prepared, no matter how simple the request, then customers should be told that upfront. Instead, we were made to feel like our request was unreasonable, when in reality it couldn't have been more basic. We were genuinely looking forward to trying the food, but after that interaction, we simply walked out and took our business elsewhere. A restaurant can have a beautiful menu, but if it lacks the willingness to provide even the most basic level of customer accommodation, the dining experience begins and ends with poor customer service. We can't rate the food because we never had the opportunity to try it. We can, however, rate how we were treated, and based on that experience, this visit was incredibly disappointing. This version emphasizes how the interaction made you feel while focusing criticism on the restaurant's service and policy rather than making assumptions about the chef's abilities. It tends to be more persuasive and less likely to be dismissed by readers.
