BROWN STEW CHICKEN
Sophie L.

We ordered the roti with curry chicken, the jerk pork, and the brown stew chicken. All was tasty and the brown stew chicken was especially tender and seasoned well. The service was also very friendly and the restaurant is clean and spacious. I would recommend for anyone looking for an authentic Caribbean meal!

Cabbage OUTSTANDING!

We found Irie by accident after attempting to go to another establishment that was not only not very clean had such a limited menu that there was not even unsweet ice tea! We were immediately greeted by a gentleman who was most friendly who had a great sense of humor. He asked us how our flight was. I assumed he was joking so I said fantastic. How are you today and he said oh I did not expect that and laughed. He made us feel very welcomed upon entering the restaurant. The decor upon walking in is very much, Caribbean, relaxing, and very welcoming. Love the color on the walls and they had a video playing that had all these funny accidents that kept you laughing. The menu though not extensive does have some great opportunities. This of course is not the best place if you're a vegetarian because there's limited non-meat opportunities. My friend got the Jamaican wings. I tried one they were excellent! The seasoned fries were outstanding and the macaroni pie was good, but I'm not one who likes sweet macaroni. My friend really enjoyed it and she's the one that ordered it. I got the seasoned Melody, a vegetables, which I don't know what spices they put in it, but that was phenomenal! The cabbage, the best I've ever had it was outstanding and such a huge portion! Overall, this was a very good experience. The waitress was not as aware of her menu as well as I had hoped when I asked for recommendations for she never really was able to say I tried this or I tried that or this has got this seasoning and this has that flavoring. Her response was far more generic repeating what was already on the menu. She was kind and sweet just not as knowledgeable of explaining the menu. She really couldn't make recommendations.

The food was amazing. Pork jerk tenderloin was great and I loved coconut rice flavor. Server was very friendly and attentive to my needs while dining. This was my first time here but I will be back soon!

Oxtails with rice and peas, and cabbage

Walked in after passing my several times. Decided I was in the mood for something tasty. Was greeted immediately upon entering end seated near the window for a late lunch. It was fairly quiet with some nice island vibe music playing in the background, so I felt relaxed and ready to enjoy the energy. The owner came by the table and greeted me and took my order. Every person that walked in, he made sure to call their name and greet them with a smile. That leaves a last impression.. at least to me. I ordered the x oxtails which came with 3 tender and very tasty tails, rice and peas, cooked wonderfully, and cabbage. I also got the macaroni pie, which was a pleasant surprise. It's like Mac and cheese, just less cheesy than traditional southern Mac. I am definitely coming back to try some other options. Everything was hot, flavored well and was very filling. I still had leftovers.

Visited Irie Diner on a Friday evening with family. From the entry to exit of this establishment - the service was top tier. We made reservations so were quickly seated although they weren't extremely busy. The aesthetic is not overly done but is well decorated. It definitely gives island vibes. We started with a Barbados sampler which was a great intro to everything we were about to experience. Jerk wings, popcorn shrimp and sweet potato fries complemented each other perfectly. I had a veggie plate with some of the best red beans and rice I've ever had - I would like to preface this with the fact that my family is from Jamaica. Everyone raved about the oxtails and the red snapper seemed to hit a few spots. The curry goat was rated a 10 but more gravy was needed (they quickly brought more). A coconut vanilla cake was ordered for the road and looked scrumptious. Overall we loved the experience and will definitely return. The owner wished us well on our departure which sealed this experience with a kiss.

Sweet Plantains

This was my second trip to Irie Diner with about four years in between. I'm still not sure why I waited so long to go again because this place is still just as good as it was when they first opened. The restaurant itself is kept very tidy, which is immensely appreciated. I think he's changed around the food menu a little since my first trip too, but not much. My friend and I went for dinner and both ended up getting the same thing, the chicken stew. Highly recommended! The chicken was absolutely fall off the bone tender, and the gravy was perfectly seasoned. Along with french fries I ordered sweet plantains, which, by the way, were probably some of the best I have ever had. They were not overly sweet, so you could still taste the plantain. They were perfect in my opinion. They offered us a free sample of the tea that he brews each night. It's a blend of hibiscus tea with herbs like cinnamon and star anise, among many others that he listed off. Again, not overly sweet and it tasted amazing. That was my dessert, and was a pleasant end to dinner. Keep up the great work!

Some mixed old and fresh plantains.

Food was disgusting! And expensive I don't mind as long as it's good..This WAS NOT good at all: rice under cooked, no gravy! Fish was "frost-bitten" tasted old, the plantains were mixed some pieces were hard and dark, mixed with 2 fresh ones..cabbage was very undercooked with no taste! 100 dollars I could have made it myself..nobody wants old food. No wonder it wasn't crowded. PASS ON THIS PLACE..

This is my families spot with my mother in law. We love to come here together! Food is always so yummy. Our fav app is the coconut shrimp. The sauce you can dip it in is YUMMY! You can't go wrong with the jerk chicken, jasmine rice & the plantains! It's not very crowded here as well so you can always find a great seat. Service is fast and waitresses are attentive to your needs.

This is the food I got instead of what I asked for. Extremely disappointing!

I've ordered from this restaurant several times on DoorDash, and today was the same. The problem was that I ordered Akee & Saltfish with red rice and beans. What I got was not that at all! I checked DoorDash again to see they closed right after I got the wrong food. I spoke with the owner, and I discovered from the bag that there was an Uber Eats receipt! The driver who delivered the food to me didn't pay attention and gave me someone else's food! That also means that idiot driver gave my food to the Uber Eats customer! I really appreciate the follow up from the restaurant. That conversation has taught me that I need to pay attention to the receipt before the driver leaves to make sure I get what I ordered! Irie Diner, y'all's customer service is the ABSOLUTE BEST!! One more thing, the Dashe'rs name is Colvie J. He/ she is supposed to be one of Doordash's "Top" Dashers! DoorDash is gonna have to make sure these "top" drivers continuously earn that title! Colvie's brain was clearly out to lunch yesterday!

A delicious filling meal. I thoroughly enjoyed my Oxtails, rice, beans and vegetables! A go container was needed

The Caribbean Atmosphere was on point with music. We could have a conversation without trying to talk over the music. A really lovely diner. The owner visited us and the waiter "Cook", he did well. A Togo container was needed, couldn't eat it all, so filling

Come here and enjoy amazing Caribbean food. We got greeted by Peter. He is the owner and the nicest guy ! Genuine and kind. Great family style restaurant. We 100% will return. The reds beans and rice are phenomenal! The owner made us feel like we literally were family !!

Probably the BEST BIRTHDAY so far that I could wish or ask for. Thank you god for everything that…read moreyou have given me in life. Having said that what an awesome way to end my birthday with this amazing dinner that I had at this place. One of the best Italian restaurants in Jacksonville I must say. As soon as me and my wife walked in to the restaurant we were greeted and sat right away. The ambiance of this restaurant is truly amazing and very Italian vibe. We were greeted by our server MORGAN who was fantastic from beginning to the end. She suggested some incredible stuff that as a vegetarian I tried and was just amazing. For drinks we had mojito and pinacolada which was nice and refreshing. For appetiser we were recommended with Pomodoro Caprese which was amazing especially their Pesto sauce. For my entree she suggested me Luingini Josephine which was unique and nice pasta. Morgan surprised me with a dessert which was very kind of her. Overall this family owned small business is an amazing must try Italian restaurant. I can't wait to back and try more stuff. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Initially, we were going to Coopers Hawk, but forgot we had to make a reservation a year prior. We were told a 2 hour wait! That is wild given how big the place is. But again it is a Saturday night, and people were smarter than us and made reservations, and thus we left. After giving the news to ogre she full on had a rage attack in the parking lot screaming for those classic Coopers Hawk egg rolls. While we were consoling her I heard a soothing sound coming from behind the restaurant and we landed in front of Enzo's. We were greeted by the kindest owner ever who thankfully along with the help of her staff got us in with no wait, given how packed it was.. We were greeted by a very nice waiter who seemed all over the place though. I think he was definitely new, and was forgetful at times.. Anyways! We got three apps which were all fried stuff. Fried ravioli, Fried mozzarella sticks, Fried calamari. Honestly looking back kind of gross.. but they were solid tasting! Nothing out of the park at all on the apps just your standard.. a little tasteless on the calamari, but then again I had like 3-4 pieces because the ogre consumed them.. but then I got clarification from my good buddy bezos that it was kind of tasteless. The most tastiest was the fried mozzarella! Which shouldn't happen. Onto the entrees! Actually wait side reference note I initially ordered mussels with linguini. It was the worst dish of seafood and pasta I have ever had. I literally NEVER send stuff back, like literally never.. it feels inconsiderate and I feel like a bother even if it is just a little edible I would eat it with no complaints but I literally could not. It was so fishy I am now writing this nauseous. Some of the mussels were also closed, cold or broken.. it was just very very poor and I'm mad I had three mussels. The first one was crazy fishy, but I gave it another shot and then another, because I believe in second and third chances. But no, I was grossed out. Not to mention consuming all the fried prior. I also ordered a soup that was forgotten, and didn't get my cocktail sauce, but not really an issue if the dish was made to torture people with. Eventually I did get my soup and it wasn't bad! But now onto the entrees! Bezos: Chicken francese Tragic: veal parm Ogre: Chicken parm Doctor B Wife: Chicken Caprese Me: after the swap I got Veal Parm (thanks tragic) Oh and we had some garlic bread, but it needed some sauce or added flavor with it idk.. Reviews! Ogre: The chicken was good Wife: Mid Bezos: *yawn* ummmm Tragic: Italian stallion Me: the veal was solid, but that dish was so bad before that I lost all my appetite and I am just bleh.. and our waiter seemed a little lost.. again nice guy but come on. All in all we are grateful we were taken in by Enzo's and that owner seemed like she was a hardworking person that definitely can inspire her staff. I loved the piano playing, and the environment was really pleasant. Although me personally I disagree with the food, that dish was the worst ever, and our waiter again although nice was extremely forgetful. I feel sick to my stomach and I probably am going to vomit. But thank you again you gave us a good night and a place to eat..

Mother's Day specials were available but none of us ordered from that menu. I had the lunch size spaghetti and meatballs and it was pretty good! And still a good portion. I find that there is inconsistencies with the kitchen. Sometimes we would get the wrap and it would be perfect other times there was hardly any fish and it was mostly lettuce and others it was lacking the other things such as the salsa and the cheese, etc. They have a great taco happy hour. Everything is 4 to 6 dollars from 4 to 6 PM , and this is again sometimes they're amazing and sometimes they're just so so. Overall, for the pricing and the atmosphere and the location, especially for us is a good go to for us. I just wish they were more consistent with the kitchen. All of their well drinks on happy hour is five dollars so that's a good deal right there. Also, they have side orders of things like onion rings and french fries if you don't wanna do a whole basket of it, which is super helpful if you wanna grab a few tacos and just want a little bit of onion rings
