The new summer menu at Blue Bamboo has some delicious options! I was there recently to try and loved everything! Local Chef Danny never disappoints when it comes to crafting a creatively delicious menu and this time was no different. Everything was bursting with flavor and the red curry chicken and waffles was definitely a showstopper. Additionally, the award-winning Mandarin Orange Came was incredible! Blue Bamboo is always a solid option for dining and this summer menu can't be missed, so head out to try it before it's gone!

We have passed by Blue Bamboo 100 times at a minimum and every single time I mention wanting to try it. So finally my husband, sick of listening to me mention how much I want to try it, got the hint and made us a reservation! Blue Bamboo did not disappoint! The service was great, the food was delicious and the decor was very nice. To start we ordered the crab rangoons which were delicious but I will be honest not the best I've ever had. I ordered a sake flight which was 100% worth it. Three sakes each one was different so I was able to really pick out what I like and what I don't like in a sake. For my meal I ordered the General Tso chicken, I like that they were trying something different then most restaurants and I really liked the dish I'm just not sure I liked it as much as a typical General Tso chicken. I did get to try the shrimp and grits and that might be one of the best dishes I have tried in a very long time. I also tried the beef Ho Fun, it was a bit oily but scrumptious and I would absolutely order it again.

I came here with a group of friends. This is my first visit to the new location. Long overdue. The appetizers were served first, along with a "positivity" drink. They also served brownies too. Then I decided to order shrimp lo mien. The shrimp are huge. The flavor of the dish is so delicious. I had to box more than half of my low mien. It was a generous portion. It was great seeing Chef Dennis. It's been a while since I have talked with him. I love the decor inside and outside of the restaurant. Pros:atmosphere, food, employees was great. Cons: none Recommend? Yes, absolutely. I look forward to my next visit soon!

We checked out Blue Bamboo and it's a unique spot in Jacksonville if you're looking for a modern take on Chinese cuisine. We tried the red curry chicken and waffles (surprisingly good) and the General Tso's, which was a little different than usual but still hit. The robot food delivery was actually pretty cool and added a fun touch to the experience. The location feels nice and a bit upscale without being too formal, making it a solid dinner choice in Jax. This place is so AMAZING!!! I came here with my best MOM friends for dinner and then we played mahjong until they closed (they actually have a mahjong room!). The decor is gorgeous and the service was impeccable. The food was incredible too! My favorite was the Canton duck (skin super crispy and juicy on the inside), but it was an entire half duck and quite difficult to cut yourself. It would have been even better if it was already cut up. Another fave was the fried rice, great flavors! The General's chicken was good but not my fav. The ahi tuna was the only dish that disappointed... it didn't taste like good quality tuna and the flavor was bland. I wouldn't order it again. Overall great experience and we will definitely be back!

Chef Dennis is wonderful! I love learning and I signed up for a cooking class that was both Asian and Italian! Diana with Italian Cooking Classes and Chef Dennis are a fabulous working team. We made congee and a saffron risotto & were treated to dumplings and tiramisu. I was thrilled to have Vanessa T join me for a fun night. I arrived an hour early to hit happy hour, and get a lay of the land. The house infused bourbon in my old fashioned was done right and just the drink to start my evening on the right foot. I also ordered a small plate of lumpia- superb! The cooking class started with the congee- a broth, ginger and scallions & quickly jumped into risotto- all the butter and stirring! hmmmm. I finished my leftovers just last night and it was just so good! I cannot wait to do another class at Blue Bamboo & I know I will see Diana soon. I also can't wait for a date night with John at Blue Bamboo! I will be back, sooner!!!

Server Brandon along with his colleagues were hustling on Christmas Day dinner! We arrived early for our reservation and it was no problem getting seated right away. Bathrooms clean. Food delivered to table via e-waiter. Food was hot and tasty. Would definitely recommend.

Wow, what a hidden gem right in Mandarin! It's a very spacious restaurant with nice ambiance and plenty of parking. My lycheetini was delicious and so was the maple old fashioned. The lettuce wraps were perfect. I also really enjoyed the red curry shrimp and grits - a little spicy and full of flavor- the grits are shaped in two patties, crispy on the outside and warm and soft grits on the inside- so creative! The Tra fish was also awesome. Gorgeous presentation of the food. Our waitress was lovely and our robo waiter (his name is buoy, not sure of spelling) was so fun to watch as he zoomed around and carried food to tables-such a fun experience! Absolutely recommend you come check out this restaurant!

I attended a group lunch with 30 diners today at this restauarant. The space and building are both beautiful with plenty of parking all around the building. We were seated in a private room with 2 long tables, but there are plenty of other tables throughout the restauarant, as well as a nice bar area. We had 2 staff members providing our service, and it was excellent. The restaurant has a pretty big menu with 11 appetizers, 23 entrees, and 10 Cantonese stir-fries. Our group had Cantonese egg rolls, the choice of 4 different entrees, and Mandarin Orange Cake for dessert. I chose the honey garlic shrimp bowl. It had steamed rice, broccoli, crispy-fried shrimp, and a sweet honey garlic soy sauce. The Mandarin orange sponge cake with pineapple cream cheese frosting was the star of the show. I will definitely return for a future visit.

Our server was a delight, she was so on top of it and so full of energy. The special mushroom tempura was amazing. For my main I got the honey garlic shrimp... I didn't realize would be breaded but it has a nice crunch and the shrimp were a good size. They have a large menu selection it would be a great group spot to split a few dishes.

My fried chicken sandwich was well-cooked but a little salty. My husband's mango habanero wings weren't spicy, but he still liked them. Drinks were hit or miss. The spicy margarita had heat but no sweetness (not my favorite), and the espresso martini leaned more bitter than balanced. I also got a chocolate martini that was good. My hubby ordered a Elijah Craig whisky flight for $24. He liked the opportunity to explore different whiskeys. The service was good considering homeboy was tending the bar AND running around being the waiter for every table (he was the only waiter/bartender). He held it down! Bathrooms were clean, automatic points there. Overall, a solid spot for a fun night out.

When we first arrived, the hostess stayed on her phone for quite a while before acknowledging us and simply told us to sit wherever. After being seated, one of the waitresses stopped by only once to ask where the rest of our party was. Once they arrived, we were not served at all during the entire hour we sat at the table. We eventually had to go to the bar just to get drinks, and the bartender was the only friendly and attentive person we encountered the whole night. We also tried to play pool. We got dollars from the bartender and went to a table, but a very intoxicated woman claimed the table was "hers," even though she had not paid and was waiting for someone else to give her money for it. No staff stepped in to manage the situation. After one drink, we decided it was best to leave. Unfortunately, the lack of service and overall atmosphere made this a very poor experience.

Just some information to know it is primarily a bar, they only have about 6 appetizers to order from. The appetizers were good and came out very quickly. The first thing that caught my attention was the amount of times they put food down at our table we did not order after about the 3rd or 4th time of this happening it seemed to be something they do to up the bill in hopes you don't notice. The second thing that thoroughly surprised and bothered me was after ordering another round of drinks, the second the drink was put at our table the waitress came over to check us out. No one had asked for the bill so we were all confused as to why we were being told we needed to close out, especially since we had just ordered more drinks. The waitress tells our party they have another reservation coming and they need our table... We all scramble quickly to leave so there's no issue and once we were outside that's when we realized there was no time limit on our table nor did anyone ask to close out the tab. Thankfully the hula dancers and our own group made the experience great however this place is very clearly a money grab and should not be accepting more reservations than can be handled as it completely ruined the end of our experience.

I'll let the photos from other reviews do the talking, but if you enjoy a good backstory, ask about the history of the space. My mission for the night was simple: end the evening with a great gin cocktail. I started with the Donna Bella from the menu. It was well made, but I thought the bitters were a little too forward for my taste. Next, I asked for an off-menu modification: a Water Lily for Teresa, but made with Roku Gin. It was a strong contender--aromatic, balanced, and beautifully floral. If you're a fan of a French 75, this is a fun cocktail to explore. It's less citrus-forward and leans into a floral profile with a character that's hard to compare to anything else. For the final round, I went with bartender's choice. Mick asked a few questions about my flavor preferences and absolutely nailed it. They crafted a cocktail with Roku gin, snap pea cordial, aloe liqueur, egg white, lemon simple, mint, and citrus that was easily the highlight of the night. Fresh, layered, and memorable, it's a drink that deserves a permanent spot on the menu....Mission accomplished. If you're willing to wander beyond the barbershop business front and you consider yourself a spirit explorer, Volstead is well worth the visit. Go for a round...or two. If you're local, this could easily become your staple spot. For what it is, strong craft cocktail bar option. Bartenders choice is the way to go.

Location is great, and the staff seemed friendly. It's good to have a place in Jacksonville with an environment like this and a place where you can go and listen to jazz/blues. I wish there was more like this, maybe with a little bit of older, jazz, musicians and more people who appreciate jazz as it didn't seem like the audience was 100% jazz lovers, but that doesn't detract too much especially since there's not a lot of places in Jacksonville that do what they're doing here.

Let's get into the highlights: some of the freshest table side guacamole I've ever had. Made right in front of you and you get a ton for what you pay for. My lunch portion of my Yucatán Quesadilla was only $9.99 as it was a Friday and it was just okay. Unfortunately, I did have to cut it myself. The "small" margarita for $12.99 is absolutely gigantic. In fact, every drink I saw come out was of ginormous proportion and seems to be the main draw here. Unfortunately, I was a bit let down by both the salsa, as even though there was a full bar, none of the options were all that tasty. The biggest detractor was honestly the service. Our server was extremely nice on the surface, but every opportunity was used to upsell by every member of the staff. A bigger drink, another appetizer, another drink, handing us their card and asking for a review following paying. I normally never have issue with this but it became overwhelming at a certain point. This restaurant absolutely feels like it has potential, but might suffocate over its mistakes in an extremely crowded Town Center/Southside Market.
