Came here with my boyfriend and his parents, they were looking for somewhere dog friendly with covered outside seating close to their hotel, which this place fit the bill. The waitress was friendly, and they had a lot of choices on the menu. I got the blackened shrimp tacos with green beans and the shrimp was so tasty blackened and they used the corn shells which I think is tastier than flour onws, I really enjoyed the tacos and might even say they are my favorite shrimp tacos because you could get the shrimp blackened I got the green beans as my side and they were fine. First time at Wipeouts Grills and honestly I had never heard from it till the night we came. I will say you will notice once you walk in this is a local joint for sure. The bar is in the center of the restaurant and that is clearly the place to be. Unfortunately for us there was not availability there so we just sat at a high top. When looking around I noticed that that they have daily specials which I am always a big fan of. Once seated we ordered pretty quickly because we were extremely hungry. The food is your typical bar options for we of course had to start with a few appetizers. We went with the Mozzarella Sticks, Southwest Eggrolls, and the Fried Mushrooms. The Mozzarella Sticks where the first to come out and when were ordered we were clearly too hungry to read the details because turns out they are wonton wrapped so they come out looking like like eggrolls. They were good and a good different but wish they had come with more since you only get 3 for $9. The Southwest Eggrolls were also good and were get them again. Our favorite was the Fried Mushrooms where our favorite of the apps for sure. They same with a bunch of them and they were extremely crispy and the batter was season well. I will say all they apps came out very hot which was a good thing so you know they were coming straight from the fryer to the table. Around this time the owner also came up to us to check in which was also nice. For my entrée I went a little crazy and ordered the Fish & Chips. They say wings are their specialty but fish was calling my name. Plus on the menu it does say the fish is whatever the catch of the day was but I will say it did seem like Cod which I'm of course fine with. I also came with 2 sides and I went with Fries and Onion Strings. The fish came out with 2 nice sized pieces. I will say it was a pretty oily but was still good. I will say I also noticed after our table ordering so my fried options that everything was very salty. The Onion Strings were for sure the most salty which I didn't love. Ashley got a chicken sandwich which came with a large pieces of chicken which was nice but it was a bit stringy. I will say I did like the owner and the vibe here so that has me thinking we will for sure come back for at least drinks and I do want to try their wings too. This restaurant wasn't too busy during weekday lunch, so our server was really attentive. The chicken sliders were really delicious, crispy, great bread, light sauce, and buttery soft buns. It would have been nice if they were a little bit bigger! French fries were soft, and there was a good amount. Chili dog was delicious! Their specialty was wings, which we will definitely be coming back for! There's plenty of booth, bar, and high top seating inside. There's also seating out front. Came here for trivia night with my family. The "spicy ranch" wings were fantastic. The wings were meaty and well cooked. They were tossed in the sauce and had the perfect amount. They were not dry but not soaking in sauce. The fries were thinner than I prefer, but still cooked beautifully. After trying to visit several restaurants, tired and hungry, we decided to try this local place that I have been hearing about. Living in Jacksonville for such a long time never once, did I think of visiting this establishment but I'm glad we did. It was Thursday night (karaoke night). The people welcome you in like if they've known you forever. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, it was delicious. My wife ordered the loaded tater tots, not sure what happened but they disappeared before she could eat them all but she also ordered a Cobb salad which she said was delicious. Some of the best eateries are off the beaten path. Wipeouts happens to be in the same shopping center as the Driver's License bureau, which is how we happened up them. We signed my mate Lila up at the front desk of the Tax Collector's office and the nice lady told us we might as well go to lunch because the wait was going to be pretty long. We had noticed Wipeouts signs on our way in and decided to walk over and check them out. Initially, it looked like a typical sports bar with TV's scattered around the room with various sporting events playing. It's surprisingly larger than it looks from the outside. A large rectangular bar seperates the two sides of the restaurant. The bartender was covering the house that afternoon. She was friendly, courteous and prompt. We ordered the Thursday Pulled Pork Sandwich special. She frowned and told us it was Friday meatloaf day. DOH. We're retired, everyday is Saturday to us. It took a while to get our food, which I found curious for a daily special. After the first bite of meatloaf all timing concerns disappeared. Absolutely, without question, the best meatloaf we've ever eaten in a restaurant... and there isn't even a close second. The meat was tender and succulent beyond belief. The gravy was deserving of its own food group. We're not going to divulge the differences other than it wasn't ketchup based as is used in most bbq sauces. Our server did tell us that the chef marinated the meat overnight and then grilled it over what has to be a wood-fired grill. Thin, crispy french fries are delicious. We weren't as fond of the green beans that appeared and tasted like they were canned with a little bacon and onion added to pep them up. We've added Wipeouts to our list of favourite dining establishments. We can't wait to try the Thursday Pulled Pork and we'll definately make Taco Tuesday. read more

I came here for their bingo night. It was a lot of fun! They have some great specials that night. They were serving blue moons for $2 as well as $2 tacos. You can choose from pork, chicken, or beef. I got one chicken and one pork taco. They were actually pretty good. The service was pretty good for the night. It was relatively fast. You would think with that many people at the bar it would be a bit slower. But overall it was very efficient. It is a bar/restaurant with a beach vibe to it. Pretty relaxed and casual dress. I've been here about three times and each has gotten progressively worse. The main redeeming thing about this place is trivia. The waitresses are nice but there is never enough of them so service is slow and our orders were wrong on several occasions. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon with the intent to watch the jags game and when we showed up, the TV outside was on some random station and it took them about 10 minutes to finally put on the game. The wings and fries were decent but weren't even hot. Our most recent trip was for brunch and it was just bad. First off they were out of home fries/hash browns which started off the day poorly. But then when we ordered country fried steak (when they had a separate country friend chicken dish on the menu) we received chicken and were told that their country fried steak is made with chicken.... not to mention when it did arrive after a long wait, the gravy was cold. One of my friends ordered biscuits and gravy which was also cold and when told our server it was cold, they took it back and 10 minutes later came back with it, still not hot, where they had clearly put it in the microwave. TLDR, if you're going to eat here, eat fried stuff and wings. read more

The food quality at wipeouts has continuously gone down while the prices go up. My husband and I used to frequent Wipeouts regularly and will now never go back after the experience we just had. My fish sandwich and fries had no taste. His burger was burnt to a crisp and his fries were way undercooked. When he mentioned it, he was awarded 25% off a meal he did not eat. I have seen this place heading to and from the beaches. Checked out the menu and it looked pretty good. I ordered a beer and they have a good selection on draft. Decided on the Phillies cheese steak sandwich and it was packed with steak cheese sautéed onions and mushrooms. Was dry at all. The bun was soft and very good Service was excellent got to admit it was a little slow when I got there but the waitress was very nice. They have a good selection of wings normal and boneless with all types of sauces from mild to wild. Got to try them the next time I go there. I have been coming to Wipeouts for the past year and love it! Yes, it is a bar, yes they serve primarily bar food ... but they are great about mixing it up and having different specials on the menu (loved their brisket on rice!!!). I am particular about my wings and generally do not like boneless ... but I find myself ordering their boneless wings in sweet chili sauce 75% of the time. Not because there aren't choices, but because they are so damned consistently good! I like the skinny fries ... but my wife likes thicker fries ... so she gets tater tots instead. Service has been excellent every time I visit and the locals there are very friendly. Yeah ... it's a bar ... but they ought to have one of these 'bars' in every city! This is the perfect example of a hole in the wall or a dive, but the good is great and the staff is on point! I've been here about half a dozen times in the last few months and they're always consistent. Beer is ICE COLD and at a steal of a price. Their wings are amazing. They're grilled and that makes them so much tastier than the normal fried ones. They have ~10 flavors to choose from. Every Friday night, they have trivia at 7:30. Let me start off by saying I accidentally ordered pickup here thinking it was a different place.. when I got there was already disappointed as it looks more like a bar then a restaurant, only like 3 old people sitting there at the bar nobody eating .... Anyway so I picked up my food for 52$ I gave the bartending woman a 60 and she said thanks have a good night ... I stood there obviously waiting for my change because all she did was go pick up the food from the back, not really warranting a tip ... she scoffed and seemed pissed and took forever to get 7$ worth of change out and when she handed it back she threw it on the bar instead of handing it to my open hand. It's been a while since I wrote an update for Wipeouts and I feel they definitely need one. We have been stopping in regularly for a while now and while sometimes the service can be spotty, we really enjoy our time there. We do have a favorite bartender as well although her name escapes me at the moment, but when we see her working we know we are in for a treat. She's friendly and attentive which is not always the case for others. Mostly we order the boneless wings but we also enjoy the fried pickles occasionally. Moved from Texas to Jax area a month ago. Wife and I have found only two spots we've been to more than once. This is one of them. Bartenders are solid...taco Tuesday ($2 tacos) is the best deal around. You can eat at the bar top, or at a table, or at a booth, or outside on the deck. No snotty people here. Yes, there are lots of regulars. Lots of folks know each other's names here. If you want to walk in and get your ass kissed for showing up once (as I've read from a 1-star reviewer), that's not likely. Establish yourself as a true customer, and they'll do anything and everything they can to make your experience a positive one. My wife can be hard to please sometimes...sound familiar?...and this is her number 1 spot. It's NO SMOKING. It's locally owned and run. It's laid back. Bar top customers are often quite entertaining. WipeOut's Grille is tucked into the corner of the TradeWinds Plaza. When I wheeled into the plaza, I was surprised to see it. So I had to stop for lunch. What a great little find! It is not a large restaurant, but it is spacious and airy. The bar is long to accommodate many and the booths comfortable. There is outside seating, but I doubt we will see anyone out there till Fall! The menu is fun with names like "Shreddin Salads" and "Surfin Sandwiches". I had Wipeout's Fish Tacos. They come with either marinated, grilled or blackened fish, lettuce, tomato, cheese with a chipotle - cilantro sauce and sour cream. I got the blackened and Loved them!! Just spicy enough for a little more sweet tea, but not burn your taste buds off. The staff is friendly and I could tell I would be coming back. Maybe for a beer on the deck this fall?! read more
