Clemson club

The owner of this bar is so kind and genuine! We love to come with the Jacksonville Clemson club. The food is great, always hot and lots of choices. Prices are also great! The vibes are spectacular! It's clean and has lots of space. Tons of tvs for sports.I highly recommend checking them out !

Cowtown Tavern is a local hang out that seems to be a good place to watch a game and take in some pub grub. The interior is casual with exposed brick walls, wood floors, black and dark brown accents with barrels sprinkled in for additional decor. The bar is huge with music playing in the background and there are plenty of TVs to view sports. There is bar seating along with tables and high-tops. Our waitress Rebekka was a superstar! She had to be. It looked like she was the only person serving about 6-7 tables. Maybe we orders the wrong things but the food we ordered was average. The fried pickles were decent, the bang-bang shrimp was solid, and the nachos were subpar with cold cheese. There was also some kind of smell going on that wasn't food. It reminded me of a backed up disposal. Could have been an off day here, and I'm not opposed to trying them again. They seemed to have a good following, but I just expected more from what we ordered.

Beautiful margarita.

Macho Nachos

Decided to try this restaurant based on the Yelp reviews but we were disappointed. We opted for a few appetizers to share and only learned they no longer carried one of our choices that was listed on the menu. Our waitress said she was sorry for not telling us right away but that no one usually ordered it. We quickly decided on a substitute and ordered the Macho Nachos, Bang Bang shrimp and pickle chips with sriracha ranch. The pickle chips were okay, very greasy but the sriracha ranch helped cut that grease. The Bang Bang Shrimp offered 6 large shrimp, tasted good, but the tails were left on the shrimp and fried which made it difficult to remove the tails. The nachos were awful. The cheese was barely warm and there were only a handful of beans. We thought the description including two types of beans (black & pinto) meant a decent amount of protein, but we barely had any beans. The food was blah and disappointing. Our waitress was working hard the entire time, she seemed to be the only waitress for the whole restaurant and was serving at least 6 other tables and sweeping the floor. She was lovely and even offered sodas to go when we were ready to leave.

My friend ordered us the Pork Belly Kimchi Fries, I got us an order of the Cheese Curds, and for my entree I got an order of the Asian Sticky Wings. I probably would have never ordered the kimchi fries on my own. Sometimes kimchi can be fickle and really hit or miss. It was definitely a hit here. More on the sweet and tangy side but worked really well. Fries seasoned perfectly, and the pork belly cubed and cooked to perfection. Out of all of the times I've been to Wicked Barley, these fries have to be one of the best items I've had from there. Cheese curds were pretty basic. Tasted great, but nothing to write home about. If you like Cheese curds, you'll enjoy theirs. I originally had my eye on the jerk chicken wings and I was warned by the waitress and my friend that they are REALLY hot. Jerk chicken is generally one of those thats right on the borderline of too hot for me. To give you an idea, if you're familiar with Butthutt BBQ's jerk chicken, theirs is as far as I can go for spice level. So I switched it up to be safe, and I am glad I did. Sweet and sticky, these had really great flavor inside and out. Would definitely get these again in the future. Brought a couple home to the hubby and he seemed to enjoy them too, and he normally doesn't like, what he refers to as, "sweet meat". I had three different beers in my favorite tasting style, sour. I had the PB&J sour, the mango sour, and the orange cream sour. The orange cream was my favorite of the 3. We enjoyed the sounds of the band Splittone in the background and enjoyed the whole vibe of our meal. I'm hoping to visit again on a future weekend and possibly bringing one of my pups along with me since they are dog friendly.

Good food. Couple of gotchas but nothing much. Definitely will be back....

Staff mentioned it was from drinks spilled by other guests, which really showed a lack of proper cleaning. We ordered all six appetizers but only received five, as the Guinness pub cheese never came out. The Reuben eggrolls were a 4/5 and the giant pretzel for two was a 5/5, but the other three appetizers were about a 1/5. The specialty drinks were also underwhelming. Angela's drink was mostly ice with very little flavor, especially disappointing for $15. My Irish cream drink needed ice added several times. I'm also unsure why a 13% gratuity was automatically added when there were only four of us with three separate checks. For two appetizers and two drinks, my bill came to $63 with tip. Very overly priced. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating, but she mentioned she was also the bartender, waitress and host, so it seemed like they were understaffed. Unfortunately, between the cleanliness issues, missing item, and underwhelming food and drinks, I'm not sure I'd come back.

Charlie was the lead bartender and our server, he is absolutely fantastic!! Such a people person with such a kind demeanor! So glad we had him! We started with the potato skins, which were delish! I chose the chicken quesadilla and my friend chose the chicken tenders with fries. Speaking as someone who LOVES a quesadilla...this one was perfect!! Put together well and did not fall apart one bit, very flavorful, and the tortilla was cooked correctly and was a perfect golden color, zero burn marks!! My friend loved her tenders as well, the crinkle fries were great too! Definitely will return to try more items!! The decor at this time for the Sippin Santa is the perfect ambiance for some fun & a night out! We had a great time, keep it up Laura- you've got a very special thing going here!!!

Right away the place had a great vibe, busy but still comfortable, and you could tell they take their food seriously. Marcus took care of us and his service really stood out. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out right without us having to ask. It's always a plus when the service matches the quality of the food, and he definitely made the experience even better. The brisket sandwich was excellent, full of flavor with that perfect smoky taste and really tender meat. You can tell it's done right. The pulled pork sandwich was just as impressive, juicy and packed with flavor in every bite. Both sandwiches were filling and hit the spot. The mac and cheese was great as well, creamy and rich and paired perfectly with the BBQ. It's one of those sides you don't think much about at first but end up finishing completely. Overall this place delivers on both food and service. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in Jacksonville and want some legit BBQ.
