Yes this is a dive bat but has quite a following that comes here. Saturday night and knowing a member in the band playing that night... had to support my friend. Yes cliffs has live music. I stopped in here on a Tuesday night which was bingo night and the place was very busy. Our server was very attentive even though she was running around busy! The place was a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. I would like to return here for future sports games and try some more of the food. It's seems a lifetime since I visited Cliff's. Today was the day to return. It was my weekly lunch and libations with my bestie! We bellied nip to the bar always our seats of choice. So years ago this place was yucky and smoky and really the only place with live music. Today it's def cleaner not smoky and service was great!!! Had a vodka champagne from the bar and they noticed something was floating in the drink. They got a new bottle of vodka and poured it for me the only downside was it was hot and the champs was flat but could have been worse. We order pulled pork nachos and a burger with whiskey onions and onion rings. The nachos had good flavor and the sauce was good. Def needed more cheese or q cheese sauce but flavor not bad. The burger was decent onion rings frozen and kinda soggy but all in all pretty ok for a dive bar. Our waitress was very sweet and running all over she was busy but didn't forget anything!! They have a tremendous, high-quality menu for a neighborhood bar. The food is fresh & there is always a couple of tasty additional specials, not on the menu. There is usually some form of additional entertainment every evening, except Mondays. Completely ignore the closing hours for this venue. Typically, they issue last call between 10:30-11:30 Sunday - Thursday, with the kitchen closing earlier. It all depends on how many patrons are in house and frankly, how moody the closing shift manager on duty happens to be! There are no set, posted hours. Had a party of 12.... We enjoyed this place in the past...we wanted to sit together, they said they couldn't move tables together (?). Time to invest in a new set of tables, to accommodate bigger groups. We resolved this problem by going somewhere else.... We love to drink and eat, you lost out. This is one of the only places in Jacksonville you can get a decent meal. If you are from up north you know what I'm talking about. Typical bar/ burger spot. Jacks drunken burger is amazing, the onion rings are fried perfectly, French dip is tender and full of flavor, and the tots are crispy. Staff has always been super nice and helpful. If you expect top notch dining you should probably go some place else, but if you want a cold beer, burgers, wings, and a waitress that will give you sass, this is the place for you. Stopped in for 80's night and they delivered. Bad was good vocals, bass, and drums; couldn't hear the guitar much at all, even during solos. Had a great time and I was the DD. We never been here before but heard they had amazing shepherds pie so we decided to come try it. We walked in and sat down with 10 minutes past by this waitress comes up to us and asked for our ID immediately understandable we showed her our ID. Sadly they just ran out of the shepherds pie. I ended up ordering a hamburger which was kinda pricey and cheesesteak egg roll which were ok, it tasted like a microwave snack but the cheese bites were really good. I think they could have seasoned the hamburger more. It took about 40 minutes for our food to come out and 30 minutes to actually pay. I was looking forward to trying a Rabbit Hole Bourbon but they were out. I had a Forester instead, and it was either mislabeled or old or something, but it was sickly sweet. I told the bartender I had no problem paying for it, but it was awful and bring me something else please. She was awesome and brought me a Tullamore Dew for free. Place a little loud to meet anyone. The pretzels were warm and soft and the beer cheese was delicious! This was my first time at Cliff's Bar and Grill. There was a rock band playing which sounded better with each drink. My friend thought it was karaoke night lol. We decided to grab a bite to eat before heading somewhere else. My French dip was very good. And I loved the au jus sauce. But the tater tots were extra greasy which did not impress me. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon around 1:00 to place a to-go order. A word of warning in case you're not familiar with Cliff's, they allow smoking in there. But for being early afternoon, the place was pretty packed. None of the tables were in use, but basically every seat at the bar was accounted for. I was greeted by a friendly bartender who took my order, and recommended the Cliff's Sauce for my chicken wings. She described it as a smoky bbq sauce, which was pretty accurate. I ran next door to Publix to get a few things, and the wings were ready as soon as I returned. I got home and ate them immediately, happy to enjoy them in a place that wasn't overwhelmed with smoke in the air. They were good wings, but I feel like they're overall the same basic wings you'd get at any dive bar. If you're a smoker, you'll probably love this place, it's got a good neighborhood bar vibe, and the people sitting at the bar were friendly to talk to while I waited for my wings to be boxed up. But I'm not a smoker, so it's not incredibly likely I'll become a regular. I've got a few friends that would probably love it though. read more

My husband and I have been wanting to check this place out for a while now-as we live right down the road. We noticed the sign on the door saying no tank tops allowed. I found it odd to see one of the bartenders (an older blonde woman) wearing a completely backless shirt with her bra and back showing. Your customers cannot wear a tank top (the sign did not specify women/men) but your employees can look like that?! Next onto our food: We ordered a beer each and the pretzels with beer cheese. The food came out pretty quickly and the pretzel was amazing. The cheese however was absolutely NOT beer cheese. It looked and tasted like re-heated Velveeta. Last our service: When our food was brought out to us, the man tossed (not a nice gentle toss-a rude almost throw) it onto the bar and immediately walked away. 1st time to come here last night for the debut of Rebel Heart. It's a good place to hangout for a Friday night. They have 2 bars strategically located at the left and right of side of the area. They have enough TVs to watch all sports wherever you're seated. They have a live band and a dance floor. The food did not come as fast as we're expecting it but I'm still giving them 5 because they served one of the best wings I've had in my life. We had a medium Teriyaki and asked them to fry it extra well done. The meat is still tender and juicy, still hot when it reached our table and unlike any other wing place Teriyaki is like mixed to Buffalo sauce so there's heat and a little hint of Asian in every bite. I came here for karaoke and their book is really big with songs listed according to artist, which makes it 10 times easier to find music to sing to. =) I want to go back again. To update my review:I came early tonight and had reserved a table for five of my friends and myself. They had the table ready. I ate the steak, loaded potato, mixed vegetables and a salad. For my drinks, I had a coke and a margarita. Everything was so good and delicious. Now, the real reason I was here tonight was to hear Big Engine perform. They set up around 8pm, enjoyed a meal with their families. Then they started to play around 9:30. They really rocked the house at Cliff's tonight. Cliff's was packed out to the max. Thank you Shea for allowing me to reserve my table so easily. Cliff's always has great food, great choice of bands and good service. You guys "ROCK". I only drawback is it is a smoking establishment.
