Good service, great ceviche. The lomo and pollo saltado were lacking flavor which I was disappointed about. Plain and simple. read more

What an unbelievably disappointing experience. We chose Sabor Mix because of its impressive 4.6-star rating and a menu filled with dishes that looked absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, we never got to taste a single bite because of what has to be one of the most absurd customer service experiences we've had at a restaurant. We arrived around 6:30 PM for dinner and were only the second customers in the restaurant. It was so empty that we weren't even sure they were open. We made what we thought was the simplest request imaginable--a plate of spaghetti with olive oil and garlic for our child. The waitress returned and informed us that the chef could not make it. Read that again. Plain spaghetti with olive oil and garlic. We honestly thought she was joking. Instead, we were left standing there feeling embarrassed, almost as if we had made some outrageous request. It's pasta, olive oil, and garlic--ingredients found in virtually every kitchen serving Italian-inspired dishes. The idea that a chef couldn't--or wouldn't--prepare something so basic was mind-blowing. If the restaurant has a rigid policy that absolutely nothing outside the printed menu can be prepared, no matter how simple the request, then customers should be told that upfront. Instead, we were made to feel like our request was unreasonable, when in reality it couldn't have been more basic. We were genuinely looking forward to trying the food, but after that interaction, we simply walked out and took our business elsewhere. A restaurant can have a beautiful menu, but if it lacks the willingness to provide even the most basic level of customer accommodation, the dining experience begins and ends with poor customer service. We can't rate the food because we never had the opportunity to try it. We can, however, rate how we were treated, and based on that experience, this visit was incredibly disappointing. This version emphasizes how the interaction made you feel while focusing criticism on the restaurant's service and policy rather than making assumptions about the chef's abilities. It tends to be more persuasive and less likely to be dismissed by readers. read more

The food was exceptional. I enjoyed grilled vegetables with the Parrillada de Mariscos, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. My husband had the Parihuela and the Seco de Res, and he loved every bite as well. What made our experience truly special was the attention and care from the chef and manager. She came to our table personally and listened to my desire to enjoy something a little different while still respecting my special diet. Her kindness, professionalism, and willingness to accommodate me meant so much. She is truly one of the best chefs -- someone who genuinely cares about pleasing her customers and making them feel welcome. Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience. read more

Savor Mix has a beautiful, modern atmosphere that makes for a great dining experience, and the staff was welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. The ceviche was definitely the highlight--packed with fresh, vibrant flavors and incredibly fresh seafood. We also tried the pollo saltado and lomo saltado. Both were cooked well and satisfying, but the sauces could have used a bit more depth and seasoning to really make the dishes stand out. Overall, a solid meal in a lovely setting, and I'd happily come back to explore more of the menu. read more

We decided to check it out. Service was a little slow, had to wait a while to get a refill on water. Otherwise, the food was good, the flavor was there. The calamari was nice and soft not over cooked. read more

How and why it's taken me so long to go to Sabor Mix I'll never truly understand, because I can't imagine not going back again ASAP! We had the traditional ceviche (fish and shrimp, churrasco with yucca and sweet plantains, arroz con mariscos, and mango lemonades, and I couldn't tell you what the best thing was because it was all so good. The restaurant is comfy (none of those terrible ubiquitous metal chairs), clean, and the servers were prompt and polite. read more

I wasn't impressed with their original fish ceviche: it was lacking flavor and fish was chewy. House salad with grilled chicken was pretty tasty. read more

Convenient parking in the plaza parking lot. The police was busy and our waitress was a little swamped, but was polite and got to us within a few minutes. We love going there for the Pollo, Al Grill, and the bang bang shrimp appetizer. I decided to order the shrimp and white fetch ceviche with avocado, which was delicious. We also ordered a virgin piña colada, which tasted great! The restaurant gives a casual dining vibe. Sabor mix consistently delivers on flavor. read more

Excellent Peruvian restaurant with delicious Jalea Mixta. Craving fried seafood for lunch and Sabor delivered. The little side of leche de tigre is a perfect side to fried fish, shrimp, yuca and oyster. Lian is a great server. I will definitely be back to try the ceviche. I decided to go here for lunch today. The food here is always excellent and flavorful. The service here is very good as well. I decided to order the Lomo Saltado dish. Located in a strip mall on Beach Boulevard with Aroma Corner, Sabot Mix offers a nice variety of peruvian food. We started with the tostones con camarones and ceviche. The tostones had a lemony sauce that completely smothered and overpowered the shrimp. My dining partner thought the ceviche was good. I got the lomo saltado for my entrée and it was ok. The beef could've been more tender and better seasoned. There was a lot of liquid on the plate and the fries were already soggy at the time if they brought it out to the table. This wasn't one of the better lomo saltado dishes that I've had. I was hoping to be wowed here based on the amazing reviews but we found the food to just be ok. I may have to return when I can try the ceviche as that may be what they're known for a given the number of offerings that they have. read more

It has a "hole in the wall" vibe but packs a punch with unique flavors and beautiful plating. Huancaina Pasta With Churrasco: A. The aji amarillo creamy sauce is divine. The steak was well seasoned. Very large portion. Traditional Ceviche: A. Fresh and beautiful to look at. Churassco Asado. A. The steak was well seasoned. Portion size is enormous. It could feed two adults. Causa de carretillerio. B. It was tasty, but it was too heavy on the potato and low on the protein. It was supposed to have fish and calamari, but the fish was missing from my dish. Service: The waitress tried her best to explain the menu to us. I found her to be rather attentive. read more

This will be the second time I've ate here and every time it is absolutely wonderful. We had the TACU TACU DE AJI DE GALLINA and TACU-TACU CON LOMO SALTADO both were phenomenal. The flavor is fresh and the texture is wonderful while being crunchy and creamy. The service was very polite and friendly, looking to ensure the best decision on what you will order. Spoke very little English, which was a good test on my Spanish. The restaurant is a great vibe, very colorful and oriented in the culture. read more

Food was bland, they do not let you customize the plates and it was overpriced for what they actually serve. The server was slow and not attentive. Overall, our first visit at the suggestion of a coworker was very good. The establishment was very attentive & clean (including the bathrooms). Surprisingly, they had modern jazz playing & the ambience was nice. My Jahleah mixta & the hubby's churrasco steak were very well seasoned & the portion sizes were pleasing. We've had both dishes at other Peruvian restaurants & these rank as top tier in our opinion for Jacksonville. They also had an decent selection of drinks to please everyone. 1 Con has to be noted: The Tostones w shrimp was very disappointing! The menu description of "bright shrimp in a lemon sauce" did not reflect what was brought to our table- tostones covered in a soupy yellow sauce containing sparse bits of what looked like boiled egg white & maybe shrimp? I was a bit skeptical when my husband ordered this appetizer per the recommendation of our waitress. I took 1 bite & was done - there was so much overpowering sauce that I'm not sure if I tasted shrimp or egg?, Yuck! I couldn't eat any more of it. Shortly afterwards, A different waitress inquired as to how our dishes were & my husband relayed our thoughts on the appetizer but she simply shrugged it off & went about her way. Needless to say, my husband finished this appetizer before we left the restaurant to not have to take it home in a carry out container. In summary, I would return to Sabor Mix for their fantastic entrees, drinks and cool ambience but they get a hard pass on their "tostones with bright shrimp"! It was the worst tostones appetizer I think I've ever tasted. Hopefully this was just a hiccup & the version we received isn't what is typically served to customers. read more

So happy to have found this hidden gem. After a trip to Peru (pre Covid) I was on the hunt for some amazing Peruvian eats in Jax and man did this place hit the spot. We were the only table when we got there, however 2 additional parties showed up while we were there. Service was spot on. The waitress was super passionate about the food and really sold us on the entire menu. Food blew me out of the water. I got the ceviche trio which ended up being enough for 3 meals. It was fresh and so full of flavor. The waitress even told me the best way to eat it as a leftover dish. Everything on our table looked amazing. They informed us everything was cooked fresh to order. 100% recommend and I will 100% be back! read more

I wish I could give 10 stars! I am shocked this place doesn't have a line to get into it! Amazing food and service. I was craving ceviche and thanks to Yelp found this listed and decided to go for lunch and give it a try. I'm so happy I did as this is my new favorite restaurant. It's big open dining room and very clean and bright, I was immediately greeted by a nice young waitress who was happy to explain any questions and she recommended her favorite ceviche which was so amazing. They have a fantastic menu and maybe 15 different ceviches to choose so I'm excited to try them all! So I ordered the appetizer Papa a La Huancaina Which is a Peruvian dish of boiled potatoes in a, creamy sauce called huancaína sauce made from yellow peppers, it was good but not spicy. For my ceviche I chose the Ají amarillo ceviche which is White fish marinated and prepared with Peruvian yellow pepper cream recipe sauce, unreal!!! Then I also ordered an entree Jalea mixta which is a mixture of assorted deep fried seafood accompanied with a delicious pickled red onions salad, also unreal delicious. The servings are large so I had leftovers and fed both myself and my husband for supper. And it was all just as delicious the second time around. Please go and enjoy this wonderful restaurant. You can thank me when you see me there :D read more

fui el Domingo estabamos comiendo y empezaron a barrer y a subir Silas , muy poco profesional eso no se hace . La verdad no voy mas .

Have you ever seen The Voice on TV? The judges cannot see the performers but instead can only hear their vocals before they make a decision to have them on their team. You should do the same with Sabor Mix. While the dining room is very spartan with the only real decorations are four TVs mostly showing soccer, close your eyes and taste. The FOOD IS FABULOUS. Maybe I should repeat myself. FAB.... Okay, you get the picture. This is Peruvian food that is made for a luxury private yacht. The plating is especially amazing (insert pictures here :)). We tried a number of dishes: Bam Bam Shrimp - amazing appetizer, with lightly fried shrimp. Fried Yuca - Yuca was good, but the sauce that went with it was delightful, I wanted to drink it. Inka Cola - my daughter was thrilled they had this from her trips to Peru. It is a unique lightly colored soda that is unlike anything I have tried before. Seafood Ceviche - this was my entree and the sauce was delicious. Shrimp, white fish, calamari, with traditional Peruvian corn kernels. It also had mussels but they were not soaked in the sauce. Panka Chicken - if you don't like Ceviche, then this is your dish. The flavor was AMAZING but it was also gluten free and dairy free. Loma Saltado Tacos - my son and his friend are not always the most adventurous eaters and they loved this dish, fries, steak and a delicious brown sauce that they sopped up. Parking is plentiful out front of the restaurant. Service is pleasant but English is a second language, so be patient. The chef came out to talk to us and his playing skills are EXTRAORDINARY. read more

Sabor mix was not bad and service was good. The waitress knew little English but checked in with us several times during the meal. This is my second time having lomo saltado in Jacksonville. The dish was flavorful, but I got about 8 pieces of beef for almost $18. My rice was slightly undercooked which was eh. My friend really seemed to enjoy her dish and even finished her extra order of yucca fries. She got about two handfuls of yucca fries for almost $10. I was shocked by the small portion size for the price. Didn't know this but the restaurant does add a service charge for using credit cards. read more

Definitely a go to place which serves authentic Peruvian food. The beautiful murals and tasty dishes will bring the ambiance of Machu Picchu. Location- right on beach blvd in the same plaza as la salsa market and aroma cafe and the restaurant is literally right in the corner. The interior was spacious, simple and a bit eclectic. Definitely a great family gathering. TVs everywhere showing soccer and the murals of llamas were beautiful to look at. Food- super delicious. We started off with the trilogy ceviche which was with seafood shrimp, calamari, scallops and these unique peanut they had. Super fresh and tasty if you love seafood. Churrosco Al jugo grilled steak with delicious flavor grilled to perfection with egg and yuca. So delish! Service- prompt, attentive and helpful. No empty drinks or plates in the way. I love sabor mix! read more

I wanted to love this place I'm so upset. I ordered the traditional ceviche and the flavor was amazing but every single piece I put in my mouth I had to spit out because it was tough. I was so upset.... My husband had the lomo and it was fine, I didn't care for it myself. They had great yucca fries! The server didn't speak any English, thank goodness I can speak very good "food Spanish" and a bit more Spain Spanish , but I feel bad for others who don't.... The service was great, quick, good portions, I like the open atmosphere and the music selection... unfortunately we won't be back. read more

I went with my wife on a Monday holiday around 430P after running some errands. The restaurant is not well lit so we weren't even sure it was open until we got to the front door. It's a wide open dining room with tables and booths pretty tightly packed in. We were the only two people in the entire place other than the 1 server and 1 cook. My wife loves bang bang shrimp so that's what we started with. There were probably 6 shrimp that were pretty decent sized. The still had the tails on them and were lightly fried and coated in a not too spicy sauce. They were served with a few pieces of fried yuca and a side of huancaina sauce. We had a couple of questions about the menu but the server struggled to understand English. I know a little Spanish so we tried that. It got us about 90% of the way there but the server gave up after a few minutes so I told her we needed some more time to look over the entrees. My wife went with the Chi Jau Kay. She doesn't like fried rice so she got hers with white rice instead. It was basically panko fried chicken in a light teriyaki glade. The teriyaki was pretty light so she got an extra side of sauce. I tried a bite. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special. That's what she gets for ordering chicken at a Peruvian ceviche restaurant. I ended up going with the Aji Amarillo at the server's recommendation. It was a decent portion of whitefish, sliced red onions, fried corn kernels and the largest pieces of corn I think I've ever seen. I probably would have given 5 stars if there wasn't so much cilantro. I know ceviche has cilantro but there was a ton. It over powered most of the dish. I took off what I could before I dug in. I don't know what we'll make it a point to go back but I'd go again if someone suggested it. read more

Great find! I'm surprised I haven't come across this place sooner. The yuca was perfect and was obvious it was fresh. Most fried yuca around here is really fibrous and dry and seems like it has been frozen for a year. The seafood soup was excellent the broth was super flavorful. Squeeze of lime and it was perfect! We tried this great Peruvian restaurant called Sabor Mix on beach blvd. We had no ideal what to expect. Menu was huge (lots of ceviche variations) but we were in the mood for pasta so we did the "Tallarin Verde" (pesto pasta). We had alot of questions as we didn't recognize some meat options. Although something we never tried before was " Anticucho" or beef heart...I played it safe with Lomo (beef).. that heart was so tender and delicious. This place has all the things! Hidden away but we love it! Service is amazing and food is out of this world! I definitely recommend!!!!

This spot was recommended by a friend that is Peruvian. She told us that one of the best cooks when it comes to Peruvian food is her mother and even her mother will come here to eat versus eat her own food at times. They claimed this was a phenomenal place and honestly they did not disappoint! All the reviews are on point! There was one review that almost threw me off, since he mentioned the food was not a lot, but I'm not sure what he was looking for because it was good portions. The place was clean! Staff is great! Our host/waitress was Romina. She is great! Now I will warn you- she is low key assertive. We arrived and gave us a breakdown of who they were and what she thought we should eat. Now she wasn't pushy! She was sweet, and very informative! But she certainly made sure we understood the menu and what she considered would be in our best interests. She highly recommended their ceviche & stood by the all their dishes. She said all of it was authentic, fresh, and flavorful. She didn't lie and nothing disappointed. We started with the traditional ceviche! Excellent! The best ceviche I have ever had! My wife had the "Sudado de Pescado" . Now my wife was convinced by Romina, but we were nervous but Romina came through- it was excellent! I had the seafood chaufa. So Good!! All the seafood was fresh and flavorful! My son had the carne asada- he wasn't too much of a fan of the dish. Since we are Puerto Ricans our taste buds are conditioned to our beans and rice tasting different. I tasted his dish and had him add salt and ketchup, but it still didn't taste the way he would've liked. However, as I mentioned our taste buds had to adjust to a different style- Puerto Ricans cook with a heavier hand of salt. So if you are Puerto Rican, Dominican, or even Cuban- adjust your mind when you come in. Their garnishing is gorgeous! The service is top notch! The place is clean! Staff is clean and up to Covid standards. Last but not least- my biggest take away outside of the food being so good- when it came out to us, all our dishes were nice and hot. Give this place a shot! I'm coming back! read more
