Bread Pudding French Toast and Fried Chicken. 10/10, no notes.
Alex W.

I'm not a huge breakfast (or sweets) person but the Bread Pudding French Toast and Fried Chicken was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. The french toast had a great, complex flavor to it, was soft and moist, and the layer of vanilla icing really sent it over the top. I barely touched the side of maple syrup since everything was already so perfect. The fried chicken was crunchy, juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. If I had ordered that by itself, I would've been perfectly happy. It was that good and the portion was generous. In addition to the great food, the service was attentive and the outdoor dining area was cool and well shaded on a busy Sunday. The next time I'm in town I'll be sure to try their dinner menu!

Easy reservation online system. Got our YURT for up to 12 ppl. It was cooled by portable HVAC and could have benefited from a little more light. But we made do. Our server Mari was excellent - attentive and friendly. Great cocktails and apps along with a variety of entrees made for a great dining experience. Would definitely recommend.

The vibe off top is unmatched at this Sunday brunch. The music, the wait staff, and the Peacock Green Dome is the perfect space to have an event in! Mari was our waitress and we just loved her!! Freddy was the musician of the day and he kept the place live and engaged! I ordered a passion fruit Bellini which was perfect for me!! The spinach and artichoke dip was amazing, flavorful and the bread it came with was soft and seasoned, which I loved. The salmon and grits was definitely the star of the show, the salmon was cooked so well and the seasoning was just right!! The grits were cooked just right as well! I need to come here more often!

Good food and service. Visited with my mom and son. We had the short rib which was very flavorful. Mom ordered a shareable. Starters were their deviled eggs, yum. I must say that my favorite was the bread pudding, blueberry with white chocolate sauce. Nice atmosphere, we sat outdoors. Jonathan was very attentive to our needs. No worries about the flies on the patio they have those little fans to shooo them away.

Starting New Years Day off with a wonderful brunch at a place I don't get to often enough! I haven't been here in a few years and goodness have they grown! We sat out on the porch, which was covered and had heaters. It was quite comfortable on a very chilly day! Our server was wonderful and kept our glasses full and helped us decide on menu items. She was on top of it even though it was an incredibly busy morning. I had trouble deciding between the French toast (my go-to brunch/breakfast food!) and chicken and waffles. But on the menu... chicken and French toast. Best of both worlds and now my life won't ever be the same! The chicken was juicy and tender and the breading had delicious seasoning. I was nervous the French toast would be too sweet but it was just the perfect balance of the chicken. Dipped in the syrup, I was in heaven! Also at the table was oxtail and grits. Grits aren't really for me, but they were decent (take this with a grain of salt because as I said, I don't like grits in general) and the oxtail was great! Someone got chicken and waffles and I did try a nibble of the waffle. It was good but I was definitely partial to the French toast. And finally, a croque madame! I didn't sample but everyone else gave rave reviews. For the drinks, most the table had bottomless mimosas. Worth the cost and delicious! One got a French 75 which I tried and it was perfection! Bright and lemony! I had cold brew coffee and here is where my only (small) complaint comes in. I only got the cold brew because they do not have hot coffee! For a brunch place, this feels illegal lol. And the cold brew was very so-so. Tasted a bit watered down. I survived just fine though and it won't keep me from going back and raving about the food. It did get quite loud on the porch once it was filled up. So, something to consider if you're looking for something a little more intimate and quiet. Also, the music was seriously on point. And that was a decent volume.

Went there on a weekend for brunch and got really lucky that we were able to get seated right away without reservation (although would definitely recommend making a reservation because they are always busy). It was cold and rainy outside so the seatings outside on the patio were definitely cold even with the space heaters. They were incredibly busy so the service was slow. Food came out delicious, and staff was very knowledgeable to help us decide what to order. They do have unlimited mimosa on weekends but be mindful that they get busy and the server might not be able to refill for you (we were there for about 2 hours and only ended up getting 2 mimosas each which was a waste to do unlimited mimosa and not worth it).

The district is probably a 4.5 star experience, I'll round up since I'm looking forward to going back to enjoy patio seating. On this most recent first-time visit, we stopped by on a busy Saturday at lunch time. We arrived at 11:00 a.m. with a reservation, and I'm certainly glad that I did make a reservation since the place fills up quickly for lunch/brunch. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles, the chicken was well prepared, and those waffles were uniquely amazing! Service from Sean was good, and while the tables inside the restaurant are packed very closely together, we were still able to enjoy conversation. We did notice the people without reservations were left with bar seating, since the dining room and patio filled up. The Springfield neighborhood is nothing significant to speak of, so there's nothing in the surrounding area to visit before or after a meal. There is a parking slab about a block from the front door of the restaurant. Pricing averaged about $35 per person all in including soft drinks, though note that they do not offer cold/iced tea as a beverage, which seems odd since all of their other soft drinks come in cans, so it would seem easy to offer tea. Overall, this restaurant does offer excellent food, and a trendy environment, so I do anticipate returning.

My husband made a lunch reservation for us on Saturday at 11. The restaurant is located on a residential street in the Springfield area north of downtown Jacksonville. There is some street parking as well as a free parking lot about a block past the restaurant. There was a line of people waiting to get in when we arrived. Fortunately we had a reservation for indoor dining. There is also a big patio with plenty of tables on a covered patio. The menu had about six appetizers, as well as about twelve entrees. I went with one my standards, the shrimp and grits. The dish was tasty, but literally was only shrimp and grits, with no sausage, peppers, tomatoes or onions. My husband had the chicken and waffles. The dish looked and tasted great. Service was quick.

I would suggest a reservation but we were recently able to walk in without a wait on a Saturday morning (right after opening). We loved sitting outside. There was live music, which is always a fun touch. We got the bottomless mimosas. I mean, you can't go wrong here. They had three juice choices- orange, pineapple, and cranberry. You can't change it up with each glass and the staff came by often to refill. We also got the carnivore board which was a great option when you just can't decide. It had short ribs, chimichurri steak, and fried chicken. The sides included the potatoes, grits, biscuits, and gravy. Everything was great! The gravy has what I believe to be a sage flavor, so it wasn't my absolute favorite breakfast gravy, but it didn't stop us from devouring it!

4.5/5 stars! Biggest tip: Make the reservation. The patio is more spacious and a better vibe than inside. We had a reservation for 11am and the line was already down the street. Our server was fantastic, very animated and attentive. Bottomless mimosas are always a win! Menu is kind of pricey but well worth it. Great place for friends to connect over a yummy meal!

The food and service is always amazing! I celebrated my graduation here with a large party. Although there was a mixup with my party and another large party, the staff corrected the issue in a timely manner. They got us seated in no time and gave us mimosas while we waited! I can't thank them enough for their professionalism and honesty! We had a great time! The music and vibe was everything. Our server was attentive. The food and drinks were prepared and sent our table promptly. I recommend this place if you are in the mood for a wonderful brunch experience!

I've been to District a few times for drinks &/or dinner and recently went for brunch. Every time I have been, food and service have been very good. They have great specials during the week. Lovely decor and fun outdoor space as well as the yurts you can reserve. I don't know if they've always had it but I just learned on this trip that they have a parking area diagonally across the street from the restaurant! That makes a big difference for me because the street parking there is not ample. Would always recommend District to anyone.

Cheese board with prosciutto added
Portia B.

The District has been a favorite for brunch since they opened. I've been fortunate to snag amazing patio spots for my groups of 5+ (with a reservation) during times that live music was happening. This was my first visit for dinner, and it was still a great experience with the same flavorful food options available at brunch (the salmon, and or shrimp and grits are my favorite during the day, those Cajun seasoned shrimp are a flavor bomb!), with a few additional hearty options. We were promptly seated and enjoyed the cheese board with an addition of prosciutto. The mustard that comes with this board was so good I also had some with my short rib! There was a fun selection of nuts and crackers, with two spiced cheeses, burrata, and pimento cheese. As mentioned, I had the perfectly seasoned braised short rib which was served piping hot, and my date chimichurri steak which was well seasoned and cooked to the chefs preferred temperature. While there was no live music, whatever was coming through the speakers was a vibe, and the overall atmosphere was perfect. This will remain a go to place when you just want to enjoy a meal and enjoy a romantic setting.

Yes!?

Is it kid friendly during the day?

If by 'kid friendly' you mean 'can kids technically enter the building?' then yes, absolutely. There's no play area, no chicken nugget shrine, and the menu assumes your child's favorite food isn't 'air with a side of ketchup'--but if your little one… Read more

How is the parking near the restaurant?

There is a dedicated lot that people park in, a short walk to the restaurant. There's also street parking nearby, both are available first come, first served. It can be a bit challenging to find depending on when you go, but it is free.

I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a full bar with liquor as well as all the bar taps. Tons of friendly staff to explain the lay of the land and how the self serve bar taps work. I liked how the taps were organized by type of beer and they always identified the local brews with "904" above the tap. Also liked the extra touches like offering chilled glasses and free soda refills. Didnt order any food, but most patrons did seem to be eating. Enjoyed the different seating options, including a more chill lounge experience with couches upstairs. Decent amount of tvs to watch sports. Bar tab seemed a little steep considering you serve yourself, but I get that is how they probably are able to have so many brews at one time. If I happen to be downtown I will for sure visit again!

Last night a group of friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday. Nothing big or fancy, just wanted a good time with good people, with plenty of food and drinks. - The Taps System - Upon using the tap systems, between my husband and I more than 4 taps we're emptied, but we were still charged 2oz - 4oz pours... even if nothing but foam came out. There was even one instance where my husband was charged for a 4oz pour before he even touched the handle. - The Food - My husband and I only ordered the chip duo (comes with queso and salsa). You can tell the salsa IS made fresh in house, but it was extremely sweet, almost like a ketchup sweet but not the same consistency. It really needed some extra seasoning blends in it. The queso was good. I enjoyed that, but nothing too special about it, but good. A friend of ours ordered a burger, and after waiting 20 minutes for it, he was told he never placed the order for it. He pulled his phone out, showed where his payment had gone through and order was submitted, and then come to find out, the kitchen so.ehow didn't receive the order or his ticket got lost in the process along the way... so he never got food. Frustrating. Another person at our table ordered a special made drink from the bar, and after waiting 20 minutes for it had to ask about it and what happened. Then a couple minutes later two came to the table, she let them know she only ordered one, so they took the second one they goofed on making. - Service - I forget her name. She said multiple times she was new and had only just started. Bright, bubbly, energetic, and full of charisma. She is the reason this isn't a 1 star TBH. She was an absolute delight and wonderful to have serving and assisting us. I wish I remember her name, but she had wavy/curly hair and a sunny little finesse to her we all enjoyed. She was your saving grace last night for all of us. I hate to say, but after the multiple mishaps, we probably won't return. The atmosphere and space are great and beautiful, but the many failures in different aspects really made it feel like it wasn't a one off thing. When we reviewed our receipt at home, we noticed that a lot of the overcharges from the empty taps were not removed, and in this economy, that really sucks.

I stopped by during one of their vinyl events and instantly fell in love with the atmosphere. First things first... the Pink Pony Club cocktail WOW. At some point my stomach reminded me that it is requiring fuel, so I ordered one of their gourmet glizzys and went with the Chicago Glizzy. Let me tell you... absolutely amazing. Bold, delicious, and somehow both indulgent and elevated at the same time. The overall vibe is what truly makes this place special. The patio, glowing with soft lights, feels like the perfect place to unwind under the stars , while the indoor space gives off a cozy library-meets-speakeasy feel that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile.
