Sofi's Italian Restaurant in Jacksonville is truly a hidden gem! The intimate atmosphere made for such a wonderful dining experience, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. One of the highlights of the evening was the chef/owner personally visiting our table. He was incredibly warm, hospitable, and genuinely passionate about his restaurant and guests. The salad was fresh and delicious, and you could immediately tell that everything was made to order. I had the Sofy with veal, and my husband had the Sofy with chicken -- hands down one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a very long time. Every bite was flavorful and perfectly prepared. Took my best friend here for a Galentine's Day dinner and so glad we did! The atmosphere was so sheek, chic, and lovely. We were seated immediately and our waitress was such a doll! She made sure to check up on us, answered all of our questions, and refilled our drinks often. It was super clean there too! We were started off with some fresh, warm bread and a balsamic/olive oil dipping sauce. The bread was perfectly crispy and went so well with the dipping sauce. We were served cold bread before at restaurant so I'm glad we had warm bread! We decided on the following appetizer and entrees: Fried meat ravioli - 8/10: it came out piping hot and it was so delicious! Fried to a nice, golden brown and covered in panko crumbs, it didn't feel heavy at all. It came with a fresh marinara sauce and had parmesan cheese sprinkled on top of the fried ravioli. Each bite was cheesy, crispy, tasty, meaty, and we devoured it quickly! Carbonara Alla Roma - 8.5/10: I thought the portion would be small since I seen photos online but it was actually a great portion. I had enough to take home and eat as leftovers! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the alfredo sauce was balanced and decadent. I could taste the pecorino romano, and cracked black pepper. The pancetta was smoky and added a nice umami flavor to the pasta. I didn't rate it higher because it was slightly missing a little bit of of that BAM factor! but it was pretty delicious! The Sofi - chicken - 9/10: Oh my gosh! My best friend got this and I wished I would have too! It was sooooooooooooooooooo good! It had prosciutto di parma, mushrooms, asparagus, shallots, cooked in wine and tossed in a rose cream sauce. The pasta was also cooked perfectly and that sauce was to die for! Each bite was like tasting the finest flavors and spices of Italy. I could not believe how tasty this was! If you come here, you HAVE to try this dish! Tiramisu - 9.5/10: One of the best tiramisus we've had in Jacksonville. It was the perfect amount of espresso and cream. They had dollops of chocolate sauce on the side and helped elevated the flavor of the tiramisu. It also wasn't super sweet which we appreciate. We don't really like overly sweet desserts and this one hits the mark on everything. Overall, service, food, and atmosphere was great! We would definitely come back to try other menu items! Went to SOFI'S last night and Nela was hands down the best server we've ever had. Super friendly, outgoing, and just a great vibe from the start. Every recommendation she gave was spot on. You can tell she knows what she's doing and actually cares. She made the whole night better. Felt like we were being taken care of by a friend, not just a server. We were joking we wished she could pull up a chair and have a drink with us because she fit right in with us. Nela is a big reason we'll be back. Next time we're bringing friends. I visited during Happy Hour on Sat. The restaurant was tucked away in a plaza. Parking was easy but they do offer Valet. The ambiance was clean and modern. Great for a girls night or date night. We sat at the bar. We ordered from the happy hour menu: - Chicken Parm Sliders - Stuffed Mushrooms - Shrimp Aglio-Olio - Charcuterie board I also had the Mediterranean Bliss Salad. It is a large portion so I did split it with my husband. They also offer a full open bar. The staff was friendly and attentive. I look forward to visiting again for dinner. read more

So let me just say we live this place - food, staff and atmosphere. Our new favorite place. And our veal parm did not disappoint last night - so tender and perfectly cooked with great sauce and a huge bowl of spaghetti That said we had 2 issues last night. And I mean this as constructive criticism. I ordered the Marsala ribeye. While it had a beautiful sear, as it was pretty thin it was definitely not medium rare and for me that meant dry. Also there could be a bit more of the Marsala sauce. It helped with the dryness but still the steak was a disappointment bc it was overcooked. At best is was medium. Second the reservation system - taste - they are using is doing some crazy things. I received 7 separate emails from them yesterday - day of reservation- stating modification of our reservation. We hadn't modified it and one even arrived after our reservation time. 3 came within 10 minutes of each other. May want to look into it as it is annoying. We still love this place though. read more

We dined in on a reservation and were seated promptly. Parking was an issue as they only do valet on Friday and Saturday nights with only a few spots in front of the restaurant. I had two glasses of wine, a village salad and a side of roasted potatoes (they were out of the garlic butter mashed potatoes). The total was over $60 without tip. The food was good but not exceptional especially for the price. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was warm and inviting though a bit loud as the restaurant filled for dinner. Before the play downtown we tried a new restaurant called SOFI'S in the San Marco area which is only a 7 minute ride to the Jacksonville Center of Performing Arts. The Mediterranean restaurant has real Italian owner whose name is Joe Gjergji from Tuscany, Italy. We spoke to him quite a bit and he was a pure delight! Our server was Jasmine who was a beautiful young lady with a great personality and gave us super service! Ellen and I shared an entree Chicken Marsala which was superb. The Marsala sauce with fresh mushrooms was right on with great taste. The chicken cooked perfectly and tender. Thank goodness we split the entree since it was huge where in fact I still took leftovers home. Bread and olive dipping sauce was yummy. Tastefully decorated interior making it a great place for special occasions and date night. Quite a great find. read more

This is a beautifully appointed restaurant with an open concept and all high-end finishes and lighting fixtures. The ambience alone is worth a trip. The exterior has an art deco vibe and it's down a side street making it a true hidden gem. Its location adds to its charm. They have valet parking at least on Friday and Saturday night. There is also a handicapped space right in front of the restaurant and a ramp that is easy to negotiate. Our party of four was really impressed with both the food and the service. The server was a beautiful young woman who was continuously attentive to our needs. All the food came out at the same time and was beautifully presented. Our guests had pasta dishes that were wonderful, my husband had rack of lamb, and I had a strip steak with a wine sauce. All the food was delicious. We were really impressed with how far along this restaurant is for being open such a short period of time. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. It is definitely fine dining with fine dining prices. I suggest that you go before it takes weeks to get a table. It's just that good and once people discover it, it will be a go to place for fine dining in this neighborhood, joining a host of other fine dining establishments, which have become the hallmark of San Marco's culinary vibe. Stopped in to check out Sofi's now that it's open and occupying the old Bar Molino space. It was nicely decorated with comfortable seating and friendly staff. I was surprised to see how empty the restaurant was on a Sunday evening when so many other places are closed. I made reservations however they definitely weren't needed - hopefully that changes as more people hear about it being open and business picks up. We ordered calamari, octopus, meatballs and caprese to start. The apps were good but nothing I would write home about. The tomatoes in the caprese weren't quite rip yet so they were a little more firm than I prefer. The octopus was good but still a little chewy in the thicker piece. For entree we split the mussels served with pasta in a lemon butter sauce. Mussels were cooked great however the dish was missing something. I feel like the sauce needed a deeper flavor, maybe a white wine element or something. Our friends split the mushroom ravioli and loved it! The entree portions were decently sized for sharing and apps were big enough to split between 2-3 people. Overall the experience and food was good and I hope this place is very successful! read more

I am hoping this was just an off night . This was our second timing dining there, the first time was great which is why we went back . This time the experience was horrible. It took us 45 minutes to get a drink . They had one bartender who had no clue what she was doing and apparently was new according to the owner. No one at Sofi's stepped in to help her so we waited and waited . At the end of the meal we asked the waitress if they were at least going to comp the drinks and she said no, the owner said since you didn't complain , he wasn't going to comp them. REALLY? When the owner came over after the meal, he said nothing about it. Since we knew he knew of our issue , we didn't think we had to complain directly to him. We foolishly thought he would just do what any caring owner would do and comp our drinks. Apparently that was not the case. So we complained to the owner and he comped them but his attitude was smug and unacceptable . If this is how he treats his clients we won't be back . read more

A True Taste of Europe in the Heart of San Marco I recently visited Sofi's Mediterranean, and I can honestly say this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in Jacksonville. My fellow diners & I had great expectations for a super dining experience at this new addition to the San Marco food scene! We were all disappointed in one way or another. The restaurant is not easy to get parking - signage is inadequate - inside area looks like a diner type cafe. The bartender was good & was busy with what seemed to be local patrons! The three of us shared a charcuterie platter which was OK but I could have bought all the cheeses from my regular grocery store! My fish, Piccata Style, was okay but not outstanding. We all had the house Sauvignon Blanc which was barely adequate! We shared a "Chocolate Lava Cake" which was fine but could have come from any supplier! All of us felt like Sofi's was very expensive & overpriced for what we had! I must report, we had a lovely server "Carmen". It was her first night working there but she knew the menu, answered our questions & took very good care of us! IF I ever go to Sofi's again I would ask for Carmen! read more
