This is a place for comfort food. It may not be the best Mexican food, but it's where you want to go after a rough day at work to drown in queso and margaritas. Sadly, this place missed the mark on almost all aspects for me. We decided to visit on a Sunday for dinner and were encouraged by the relatively positive reviews. Upon being seated, it quickly became apparent the service was not going to be great as it took 10 minutes before someone came over to even give us menus. The lack of service perpetuated the entire meal...it took 30+ minutes for us to get our meal, we then had to wait 5 minutes on silverware to even eat our meal. Our waitress never came by unprompted once and acted inconvenienced when we asked for her. Found this fabulous restaurant down the street from our hotel the Hampton Inn on Beach Blvd. It happened to be a Tuesday so taco Tuesday was in effect. The special was three tacos for 7.99. I expected small tacos so I also ordered table side guacamole. Well everything was large and delicious. My husband wasn't too hungry so he ordered a fajita quesadilla well it was enormous. The first set of chips where unsalted the whole there one were. i told my server i dont want onion on my plate i get a little more than half way through my dish and i started to finding onions . i'm allergic. if shouldn't have to say it if i tell you i dont want any on my plate ! i ordered no onion and got caramalized onions in my dish. i even asked if there was onion in the dish .He said no.As a server you show know what's in dishes and if you don't you should ask. read more

I had the pleasure of trying La Nopalera for the first time celebrating a neighbors birthday. This location was new, although I'm not sure when it opened. The service was great and the margaritas were delicious! I tried both the Blueberry Jalapeno and Smokey Mango margaritas and my favorite was the blueberry. I ordered three tacos, asada, shredded pork and shredded chicken, served with beans and rice. The tacos were tasty and fresh and served with a spicy pico. I also had a jalapeno popper which was crispy and delicious. And the queso was yummy too. My girlfriend and I went with her two kids to this establishment although inside is pretty old and needs to be redone decorations are kind of cool. We overloaded on the food started with queso and jalapeño bites. Jalapeño bites would've been better if they came out warm, but they've been sitting there for a minute and was disappointed, but kept them to heat up at home later no big deal moving on margarita frozen 20 ounce mango with Taheen on the rim delicious I could've had two Oh that's right I did have two lol Girlfriend had the blueberries smoky margarita she said it was pretty spicy for her taste so she got a piña colada boys ordered chicken wings, french fries and quesadilla they said was delicious. I got number 21 and the chili relleno was to die for the rest of it was good too. A lot of food but delicious. My girlfriend got the fajitas wasn't impressed with her selection. The shrimp were so tiny they weren't even like the real kind and I'm not sure about the steak meat. Look kind of sketchy to me anyway I was happy with what we got for the most part. This isn't a great place for a quick meal, but it's good for a leisurely meal with friends and family The food is pretty much like other La Nopalera Restaurants, decent Mexican food. I'm so glad La Nopalera reopened near me. It's a little closer to town on Beach Blvd (closer to Hodges) than the previous location at San Pablo. The new restaurant is brand new with colorful decor (although I preferred the Mexican-themed decor at the other location) and much more space for dining. Service is much better as they have a ton more staff now and the food is still the same great food you'd expect for La Nops. I've been hoping they would re-open and they did. This is probably my favorite for well-priced Mexican food and cheap Margaritas. I've been here twice in the last 2 weeks and I'll continue to return. read more

At a friend's urging we decided to dine out for Mexican. Great! She selected La Nop from a list of Mexican restaurants I provided. I want to be clear - the food was GREAT - this pan is about one single issue that downed the whole experience. We arrived around 7:30 and were immediately seated at a table. A woman brought us complimentary chips, salsa and waters. A few minutes pass and our server appears to take our requests. We order a margarita and a sangria and table side guacamole. Drinks come out a few minutes later and the nice lady comes over with her cart to make the guac magic happen. The issue arose when we placed our entree orders. We did this around 8:15. Our food arrived at our table at 9:14. Yes, exactly 9:14 because at 9:15 we were prepared to walk out. Neither of us ordered inordinate nor extravagant food. Nor did we ask for anything special to be done to our entrees. Our server came over to reassure us our food was coming very soon. Spoiler alert - it wasn't. After another table touch by our server we asked was the kitchen even preparing our food to which the young woman said the kitchen was slammed with orders right before ours was submitted. Now, both my dining companion and myself would have understood if the server had told us prior to us ordering that they were loaded up on orders and it might take longer than normal. We received no such advisement. At the third go around we went full Karen and asked (politely) to see the manager. The assistant manager appeared minutes later and said he had spoken to the manager and the kitchen was working on it. We made our dissatisfaction known. We pressed for a time as to when our food would be ready. He kept saying you won't be waiting for another hour. GEE THANKS! This was at 9:10. My companion and I agreed that if at 9:15 the food wasn't before us we pay for what we received and walk. And at 9:14 FOOD! Glorious food! We ate. We enjoyed. We paid. Didn't ask for a reduction in price nor a credit toward another purchase there. I doubt I'll darken the door of that spot again. read more

I hadn't eaten at a La Nopalera in a long time because they seemed to go down hill through the years. I was in the area and decided to try the new location near Beach and Hodges and I must say, I was super impressed! It was very clean and the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with a friendly greeting. I sat at the bar and received excellent service and the food was fantastic. Overall, it was an excellent experience and was a major improvement from what I remember at their old location by San Pablo. This La Nopalera will be my new go to for Mexican food and I will definitely be back soon. I highly recommend, especially if you were disappointed with them in the past. read more

I have tried so many La Naps in the area before, and they all PALE in comparison to Daniel's restaurant. We have been long time friends of Daniel since he worked over at Tequila Town, so when we heard he was helping to open this restaurant it was immediately on our list to try. We have been back here consistently since it opened, going about once a week. The ambience of the restaurant is welcoming and inviting, the food and the service are always top notch. We have never once been disappointed. You get so much food for the fair prices, and I would always highly recommend it to anyone who asks for a good Mexican spot! I've tried numerous items on the menu and have always been extremely satisfied. They have all the traditional food you would like, and a few of their own creations and items that always blow me away. They make all their corn tortillas fresh and have some of the best Horchata! I cannot recommend this place enough.
