I made a post online looking for flavorful birria and this place came up a few times and was the clear winner, I have only used door dash for this establishment but I can only imagine how it tastes extra hot and fresh (it's a 25min drive to me). The flavors are so consistent, the portions are good and one of these days I need to venture out that way in person to experience it first hand. I can't speak on the service and ambiance but I can definitely vouch for the flavor. It was the lack of napkins or water that was forgotten. It was the cold queso and wrong order after waiting 30 minutes for 4 tacos. Should have went to the taco place down the street. I ordered the Popeyes special which is a cheese quesadilla with spinach and a side of vegetables. The vegetables were good but kinda reminded me of the frozen vegetables you get at the grocery store. The quesadilla was so salty it was almost borderline inedible. You can get a better cheese quesadilla honestly somewhere else. I have gotten the taco salad with shrimp previously and it was good, just nothing special. Their tortilla chips are delicious and satisfying. This place was rated pretty high so I decided to give it a try. He got the Mexican Fried Rice (with soy sauce, green onion, bell pepper, queso) and a choice of protein which he went with steak and shrimp. He said that it was ok, just somewhat salty. I got the La Takeria Nacho Supreme (shredded chicken (or beef)lettuce, pico de gallo, queso, guac, sour cream). Nothing real special about it, just very filling as they give you a lot. I did add some extra shredded cheese to it but only to get rid of leftover food before it went bad. Great option for Mexican in the neighborhood. read more

La Takeria catered my communities Christmas party. I had never heard of the restaurant even though it is pretty close to my house. I had a pulled chicken and beef taco with all the fixings. The fixings included onion, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, fresh cilantro and pico. The pulled chicken was my favorite as it was cooked with peppers and bursting with flavor. The chicken was tender and juicy. The beef taco was also good. But the refried beans hit a home run! They were smooth and creamy. I look forward to stopping in for dinner soon! I always have to make a stop at La Takeria when I am visiting Mayport! Authentic Mexican style tacos here that do not disappoint. Also, the salsa that comes with it is very good, just enough heat! The pastor are hands down my favorite, but they do have a variety of choices, so something to try each time. This place gets packed for Futbol games it looks like. The staff at the bar are kind and it seems they process lots of To-Go orders, too. So they stay busy in the evenings, but usually plenty of space at the tables and bar seats. The beer selection is primarily your favorite Mexican beers and you can get large beers, too! They have aguas frescas, jarritos, Mexican coke to wash down the taco goodness. First off, we are a football loving family and we were told from friends that we had to visit because of the cool murals inside of the restaurant. We took our son after his soccer game and he loved being able to watch an MLS game on the screen while dining on his favorite -- Mexican food! The food did not disappoint. My husband and I had the street tacos and they were so flavorful, fresh, and delicious. I think the Carnitas were my favorite. Our server was excellent and we will definitely be back to try more. It's a small restaurant lots of 4-top tables. They seem to only have beer/wine, so you won't get your typical margaritas here. Definitely worth the visit. Sad we haven't tried this place sooner! It's a mile from us. Big menu so you can find something to suit your mood. My husband loved his mahi taco and the steak ones were great as well. What an outstanding new taco spot! My husband humored me by stopping here after breakfast (yes, we had just eaten... no shame in my game) for a taco to see how it was and we finished our tacos with an enthusiastic high five. The restaurant itself is very clean and bright with a wall of floor to ceiling windows and vibrant soccer murals across the walls and the game playing across multiple big screens. The service was outstanding, we were seated and served right away by Fernando. He was extremely warm, welcoming, and accommodating. Despite having just eaten we showed very little/no restraint when greeted with complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa has to be some of the best in Jax- it's fresh and delicious. My husband got a birria taco and I got a chorizo taco with scrambled eggs (a special request I am grateful they accommodated! I discovered they have some breakfast specials that made me instantly regret not arriving hungrier but there is always tomorrow...).
