This place is so good! From the atmosphere, the service, to the food and drink, Marker 32 hit it out of the ball park. We started with some octopus and smoked canapés. The octopus was cooked just right and definitely not the dreaded rubbery texture that every octopus lover despises. I ordered the scallops and it was served on a bed of grits. I've never been a huge fan of grits but these grits were the best I've ever had. They were creamy and full of flavor. The creme bruelee at the end was also good. The one small regret I have is that I was pregnant at the time and didn't get to try the raw foods or drinks that my husband had ordered. A classy seafood establishment right on the water off Beach Blvd. High class, $$$, but you get the Elite experience. My father and I had a daddy daughter date here for this past Father's Day. We made a reservation in advance and came early to have a glass of wine at the bar. The FULLY STOCKED bar was large (not much separated from the dining area) and the bartender was friendly and professional. We looked at their red wine selection and asked the bartender for something fruity. The food was really very good, the steaks were tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The crème brûlée was delicious (my favorite). The atmosphere was (surprisingly) moderately quiet, ocean coloring prevailed - white, blue, dark wood, and ideal for semi-intimate dining and special occasions. I imagine it's more lively and loud on Friday/Saturday. I remember piano music playing from somewhere, which added to the appeal. Get a window seat and show up just before sunset. That way you get the pretty view in daytime, and IF you angle yourself just right, you'll enjoy that colorful evening glow fade into the dark ambience of an elegant night time dinner. read more

We ventured over for a Sunday brunch a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. We arrived right when they opened and scored a seat at one of our favorite window seats. I love their spa day drinks for brunch! So refreshing. I chose the French toast and the hubby had the breakfast plate. My husband and I love this place! Best restaurant in Jacksonville IMO :) I absolutely love their oysters-- cooked perfectly, great flavor. I get them every time we come. For entrees, my husband had the short rib, and I had the swordfish special. This was my first time eating swordfish and it did not disappoint. It was cooked very well- super fresh. Only thing I would change is that it was a little salty for my liking. My husband is still talking about the short rib with the risotto. He also convinced a friend of ours to try it when he went, and he was equally as happy with the dish. We ordered bread pudding for dessert. No complaints- nice end to the dinner. Our server checked on us appropriately and explained the specials well. He was friendly and attentive. Our view was beautiful as we were seated at the window overlooking the marina. A first time ever that I woke up thinking about what I ate last night (for good reasons) . Amazing service, great drinks and by far the best food I have eaten at a restaurant in many years. Definitely in the top ten ever. Only open for a few hours a day, but they give it their all to ensure your experience is a great one. The staff works seamlessly together like a machine leaning in to full gaps (don't think that went unnoticed), and I seriously woke up thinking about how great the Atlantic Salmon and side of Grits and Cesar Salad were. Cooked perfectly, you could taste every ingredient in every bite, it was consistently delicious from start to finish. WOW! Also tasted the warm spinich salad and Airline Chicken: equally fantastic. Finished with a perfect creme brûlée and Kona coffee. Nothing bad to say about anything at Marker 32 and I could go on and on about all the good. I look forward to my next visit! Marker 32 has been a Jacksonville gem for Well Over a decade, and it's easy to see why. The food, the service, and the location right on the water make it a place I'll always recommend to friends and family visiting from out of town. I recently brought my aunt and uncle (visiting from Texas and Atlanta), and it was one of three places I suggested near their hotel. They absolutely loved their meal -- even though we didn't end up with a window seat as requested days in advance, the experience was still wonderful. If I could offer one small piece of constructive feedback, it would be this: I'd love to see a few fresh additions or seasonal updates to the menu. Everything on it is fantastic -- it's just been consistently the same for at least 15 years (which says a lot about how well-loved those dishes are!). A few rotating specials or new seasonal dishes would give regulars even more reason to keep coming back. Still, Marker 32 continues to deliver the kind of quality and hospitality that's very well appreciated. It's a true classic that remains one of my go-to recommendations for visitors and locals alike. I'd love to visit more often, eventhough I've never lived close to this restaurant. I'd make the trip more often for some fun, new additions on the food and drink menu. read more

First time here to celebrate my mom's birthday based on the good reviews here. But I left disappointed. Food: everything was too salty or spicy. If it's fresh seafood, it shouldn't be smothered in seasoning. The steak had too much pepper; fries were too soggy. Our waiter must have checked out by the time we arrived. We ordered the Caesar salad and he asked if we wanted anchovies with it. But it never arrived; he said he did not recall that we had ordered it. Drinks were empty and he didn't come by to ask for refills. I had to flag him down. Not sure why this place is still popular unless old habits die hard. The poke and mussels were already favorites and the burrata with a berry compote was also a great choice. I visited Marker 32 last Friday with friends. It was my first time and I was impressed! I had no idea this restaurant existed only a few miles from home. It's tucked in off Beach Blvd. Parking can be a little tricky, but they offered valet. We were fortunate to find a spot. My friend made reservations and we were seated quickly. We sat in the back behind the bar. I like this side because it was a little quieter than the front. Our server, who was fabulous, brought us water and complementary bread. I ordered the Bees Knees cocktail with Manifest gin, local honey syrup, lemon sour and orange blossom mist. Loved this drink which was light and refreshing! For our apps we shared deviled eggs & fried oysters (on top of the eggs). Very tasty. The M32 broiled oysters, my favorite, with bacon, pecorino, spinach and sun dried tomatoes. Lastly, oysters on the half shell. This was my second time eating raw oysters and they were very good. For dinner, I ordered the seared filet mignon with boursin fingerling potatoes, grilled asparagus, dukes ale onion jam and red wine demi (butter). The filet was cooked perfectly and each cut felt like slicing butter and each bite melted in my mouth. The sides were just as good. Everything was seasoned nicely. I shared my filet and in turn received a crab cake. The blue crab cake was meaty with not much filler, just how I like it! I had a few bites of my friends creme brûlée, which is not my favorite desert, but it satisfied my sweet craving. I also ordered the chocolate bananas after dinner drink. First visit in 10 years where I enjoyed most of the dishes. M32 Broiled Oysters: 6/5. Succulent and delicious. I'd say it's the best thing on the menu. Bluefin Tuna Sashimi: 4/5. I liked the accompanying kiwi sauce, and the tuna tasted very fresh. But given the texture of the fish, the slices should've been thinner. Harissa marinated Octopus: 3/5. Great flavor, but the octopus was chewy. It should've been more tender. Seared New Bedford Scallops: 4/5. The scallops were cooked perfectly, however the grits were missing a certain je ne sais quoi. We decided to take a visiting guest out on a Friday evening. We made sure to make reservations in advance as I know that the place can be packed. When we got there, there was the option of self Parking vs valet parking. I was able to get a spot in the self park section. We were seated about 5 minutes after our reservation time but to their credit, all the tables were occupied. All in all the service was great and the food tasted wonderful. We didn't wait long for our orders to arrive. The restaurant was loud from all the lively conversations but it seemed the guests there were enjoying the food and the company. Very loud environment and food was subpar. Every dish that was served was way over salted and the pasta dish that was served to a one of our guests was incredibly smoky and could not be consumed. They operated as a high end restaurant in all the ways of serving that has been forgotten in many restaurants that think they are elegant. Taking the ladies order first, serving ladies first. Grinding pepper at the table and many other details. The waitress Melissa was very knowledgeable and even though it was very busy she never made us feel rushed. She took very good care of us. The food was off the charts delicious!! Every dish was amazing. The temperature was just as ordered, the steak melted in your mouth, the short ribs exquisite, the risotto creamy and packed with flavor and the warm spinach salad was like nothing Ive ever tasted. It was creamy and rich with the melted Swiss cheese bringing all the flavors together beautifully! The fish dishs perfectly done and all of the sauces were magnificently joined with each food. went to marker 32 for a valentine's dinner and it turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences i've had in jacksonville. the only good thing we had all night was the oyster half shells. they were fresh and actually enjoyable, which makes what happened next even more frustrating. i ordered the most expensive steak on the menu based on our waitress's recommendation and specifically asked for medium rare. after waiting an entire hour for our food, the steak finally came out overcooked to medium, tough, and honestly something i could have made better myself at home. for the price point, it was completely unacceptable. when i sent it back and asked for the bill, the restaurant still charged me for the steak and instead removed the oysters from the check... which makes zero sense because that was the only part of the meal that was actually good. between the long wait, poor quality for the price, and the way the situation was handled, this felt like a restaurant that cares more about turning tables than delivering a quality dining experience. definitely not worth the money, the hype, or a special occasion night. read more

What a great anniversary dinner my wife and I enjoyed at Marker 32. Starting with our appetizers, we opted for the Teppanyaki prime with bacon jam and bone marrow special which was the star of the evening, Scallops with crab roe butter which had 2 large scallops that most restaurants would have cut in half to give the impression you were getting more, the crab roe butter was savory and worthy of wiping up with the toasted focaccia, and the Burrata ravioli of which the pecorino crisp my wife and I both wanted another. Honestly, we could have spent the evening sampling the starters and apps which we'll probably do in the future. So yummy. My wife went with the Shrimp fettucine which she absolutely loved, and I chose the Bistro steak with the truffle fries and peppercorn demi. The fries were off the change and while my steak was slightly overcooked, the demi-glaze was so delicious I didn't bother sending it back and did not take away from the overall fabulous taste of my dish. We ate here when we first moved to the area three years ago, and tonight we finally returned for dinner. It was an excellent decision. The restaurant is situated on the water off of Beach Boulevard, with great water views. I feel like we got the best table in the whole restaurant. The menu has plenty of great sounding appetizers as well as many great sounding entrees. Our party had the seared filet mignon, the prime bistro steak and the grouper special. The filet came with delicious potatoes and grilled asparagus. The entire meal was delicious. The prime bistro steak came with a hearty portion of fries. The grouper came with cous cous and a pureed carrot sauce. It was another great entree. We were too full for dessert but all of the desserts sounded great. We were given three small complimentary praline bites which were very good. We will be sure not to wait another three years to return. read more

I'd love to give Marker 32 five stars but waiting 45 minutes for your table when you have a reservation especially when your foot is in a cast makes me say no can't do it. Let's start with my arrival. I had no idea there would be 2 flights of stairs to enter the restaurant. Normally I wouldn't care but I have a cast on my leg. Luckily my husband noticed a " lift " that could take us up to the top. It's more like a dumb waiter & it was pretty scary but we made it! The bubbly hostess told us our table wasn't ready yet so our party of 4 went to the bar. The first thing you notice when you enter the restaurant is the noise. This was a week night & the place was loud. I mean really loud to the point of almost uncomfortable. We were still early enough to take advantage of the HH at the bar. The HH wine and tequila are are good value. I chose the tequila & for $5 it was really good. We also got a bottle of wine because my friend did not like the HH white wine choices (which we brought to the table 45 minutes later). I'd say after about a 25 minute wait at the bar a nice young man came over and told us to choose an appetizer that he would service at the table and apologized for the wait. I thought this was a very nice gesture. The place was still extremely busy and extremely loud and I was pretty uncomfortable at the bar with the cast on my leg. After 45 minutes, we were shown to our table. Again, a lovely young person came over to our table and told us dessert would be on them for the wait. That was extremely nice because many places won't do anything for waiting. The rest of our evening was lovely but again the noise level was out of control. I'd say we got there about 6 o'clock and the noise kind of dissipated around 8 o'clock halfway through our dinner. For the appetizer we chose the calamari. It was small rings of calamari that were cooked nicely. Nothing outstanding but definitely good.My husband had Seared Duck Breast with caramelized apple and bacon risotto / haricot verts / truffle leek purée / duck demi he said it was very good & enjoyed it. My friend & I both ordered the New Bedford Scallops which were served with collard greens / creamy grits / roasted corn basil shrimp broth. We both agreed it had an excellent flavor & the scallops were fresh and done correctly, however the dish was too soupy where you almost needed a spoon to eat it. Our other dining partner had a fish. I don't remember what it was. It might've been a special I could not even hear the server when he rattled off the specials. The birthday boy said it was very good. Our service throughout the evening was excellent. But it was difficult for us to carry on a conversation because of the noise. When it came time for dessert, their desserts look so good. We ordered three. It was a friend's birthday and they put a candle in his cake. The birthday boy had the crème brûlée. My friends and I shared the peanut butter bread pudding. I love bread pudding and never pass up an opportunity for bread pudding. It came à la mode and it was delicious. My husband had sort of a chocolate cake if I remember, and also thought it was excellent. I have mixed reviews about this restaurant because of the extreme wait time and the noise level. The restaurant did try to make it right and I applaud them for that. The service was excellent and so was the food. Ben, your restaurant(s) are phenomenal. Marker 32 & Valley Smoke are our favorites. However, I DID want to suggest just one thing. The ambient music we hear in Marker 32 just doesn't jibe with the atmosphere. Last night, it was classic rock. I know this may be picky but classic rock in your beautiful Marker 32 seems inappropriate. Jazz, whether smooth or classic, might be a better choice..and I don't really like jazz! Went to Marker 32 for a special occasion and it was made that much more special by the food and service here. We were promptly seated at a window table overlooking the water. The waiter was very attentive and we started with the pork belly appetizer and ordered scallops and a ribeye for our entrees. The appetizer was a unique take on pork belly as it was crispy without a sweet glaze like most places do. It was crispy, tender, and flavorful. Our entrees came out and while the ribeye was overdone, the waiter immediately replaced it with one cooked to a perfect medium. We had barely pointed it out and he took it back before we could even ask. The scallops were tender and seared well on the outside with the risotto and greens complementing their buttery-ness. We finished with the praline cheesecake which was a decadent cheesecake with a caramelized praline layer on top. The perfect way to end the meal! The food was great and the service was even better. Definitely book in advance for any special occasions but this is somewhere you don't want to miss. read more
