Lamb w chimmi churri, Grouper and Ribeye roasted vegetables. Overall a great meal. Grouper & Ribeye were spot on. Chimmi Chuurri was delicious. Service by Anjelica was the perfect amount of sugar and salt. She could serve me anything. Wine delish.

Days later and still thinking about how delicious all the food was here. We walk past Doro frequently and I'd been wanting to try it for quite some time now. It.Is.Incredible. The portions aren't huge but they aren't small. Two of us shared the burrata appetizer. I wanted to lick the plate it was so good. For mains we got the fish special and the crispy short ribs. Both were incredible and I can't stop thinking about them. The flavors and textures were all perfection. We also both got a dessert and we were full but not stuffed. Service was also fantastic. The waiter was friendly, attentive, provided suggestions and overall just added to the experience. I do wish the environment were a little more intimate. The tables are small and very close together. That part of it made it seem more casual than the food and the prices reflect. But I forgot all about it when we started eating. 10/10 would recommend.

This is an upscale new American open kitchen style restaurant. The service here was impeccable and the food was even better. Each staff member took great care of all patrons. This restaurant is small yet cozy. Each dish is prepared to upmost perfection and I had the honor of sitting at the bar which gave me the opportunity to watch the chef meticulously prepare all appetizers with love and care. The chef simultaneously chatted with customers as if they were long time friends & family. I was the only one seated at the bar who had not been here 5+ times and I think that says something truly amazing. There is something insanely special and intimate about this place and I am thankful to have had the experience of dining here. I will say, the ONLY reason why I did not give 5 whole stars was because about 1/3 of my short rib was fat. Every other dish was 10/10 and every ounce of the experience was 5/5 stars, but if I'm going to be paying $40+ for a dish I expect the entire thing to be edible. They also served wines that paired perfectly with the meals. In total I spent about $160 for 1 to dine so you definitely are paying for the quality + experience! I will be keeping this hidden gem in my back pocket for any special occasions!!!

Strawberry Crisp

Holy schnitzel! Literally the best bite of food and meal we've ever had. I don't even know where to start or how to explain just how good everything was. We started with the burrata for a shared app and it was unlike anything we've ever had. It was complex yet simple and fresh and delectable. Next we moved onto our 2nd course of schnitzel and charred octopus and both were fire. The schnitzel is sweet but crunchy and balanced and the stuff that we will dream of. The charred octopus was like butter and just melted in my mouth. For our main I went with the lamb rack and my fiancé went with the ribeye. The lamb rack had a lovely balance of flavors and even my fiancé raved about it and he has NEVER enjoyed lamb. The ribeye had great flavor and crust and was cooked to perfection. And because we were indulging we went with key lime panna cotta and strawberry crisp desert. Both were lovely and not overly sweet. It's the cutest and quaintest spot and our service was so great. The energy of everyone who works there was just so positive. Seriously a gem.

Romaine Lettuce Salad

Absolutely flawless dinner. We got the early reservation, and was immediately seated. The service was top flight, but the food is the star. The Romaine Salad was nicely balanced (crispy, tart, and creamy), and the soup was light. The pistachio soup that they normally serve is better, but it's hard to top that particular soup. The scallops were pricey, but they were perfectly cooked, and went really well with the accompaniment. The Key Lime Panna Cotta was tart and creamy, and a really nice finish to the meal. Highly, highly recommend!

Le Duck!

Mr. and Mrs. Peregrinus had a fabulous anniversary dinner at Doro in late June 2024. We highly recommend sitting at the bar in order to watch Chef Chris Polidoro work his magic. Our server, Christopher, was most helpful in guiding us to the best options on and off the menu that evening. For starters, we had charred octopus with soft egg emulsion, togarashi, & sauce vierge ($17). This was spectacularly good. We also had the warm "king crab" with champagne mango and aji amarillo mayo ($28), but in this case it was fresh lobster instead. The lobster was a little tough due to over-cooking, but it was still delicious, as the sauces are extraordinary. For the 2nd course, we had a fresh red snapper dish that was off menu. It was perfectly prepared - the best fish either of us have tasted in more than a decade of peregrinations. We also had the duck breast + broccolini + okonomyaki, hoisin & bonito, aka cabbage pancake. Who knew that duck could taste this good? It was amazing. Finally, for dessert, we went with the chocolate Pot de Creme and a scoop of homemade mint ice cream, with fresh mint blended into the heavy cream. We felt like young Edmund Pevensie eating magical Turkish Delight, wanting more and more no matter the consequences. All this plus 3 draft beers came to $169, plus tax and tip. It was well worth the price. One more great feature worth noting was their free valet parking. We pulled up on the back side of the restaurant (one block to the west), handed our trusty steed to the young men running the lot, and we took the claim ticket to Doro for validation. This worked perfectly and eliminated one of biggest the hassles of Neptune Beach. Thanks to the great team at Doro for a wonderful all around experience. Well done!

Lamb Loin

My wife took me to Restaurant Doro for my birthday. It was a cute bistro located at 1st Street in Neptune Beach. Definitely unique and delicious cuisine. We started off with a complimentary pickled cucumber and ordered a couple of apps. Appetizers * Charred Octopus with olives, haricot vert, tomato, potatoes, aioli. Tender and slightly smoky taste. *Ahi Tuna Tartare with peaches, tomatoes, and citrus dressing. The plating reminded me of a wreath, delicious edible wreath. Main Entrees *Crispy Short Ribs with carrot purée, pickled napa slaw, and tamari bbq. Crispy on the outside tender on the inside. *Roast Lamb Loin with sweet corn, heirloom tomatoes, and bordelaise sauce. Everything in the plate went well together. Food was so good, we cleaned our plates. Our server wished me a Happy Birthday, but I wished they would have given me a little dessert to cap off our dinner. I was waiting for it. Lol. Great dinner and service none-the-less. Tip: Valet Parking or Pay by plate are available for your parking needs.

Pot de crème dessert- delicious!

This was literally one of the best restaurant meals I've ever had. I was initially thinking of ordering the grilled snapper, but after telling the server (she was fantastic, but unfortunately I can't remember her name) that I would omit the olives, she steered me toward something else after letting me know that they are a primarily focus of the dish. So when I asked her about the scallops versus the short rib- she painted such a vivid picture for me that I could practically taste them. Her description convinced me to order the short ribs and I'm soooo glad that I did! It was an explosion of flavors and textures in my mouth- the sweetness of the tamarind BBQ sauce, the slight earthiness of the carrot puree and the super tender meat (that did not require a steak knife at all) with the thin crispy outside layer- WHOA! LOVED it. My husband was just as enthusiastic about his market fish of the day (which I believe was snapper or mahi). The side of potatoes we ordered was a generous portion for us to share and brought another interesting element to my dish. For dessert, we ordered the key lime panna cotta, which had a robust citrus flavor, but I didn't love the texture (just a personal preference), so we also ordered the dark chocolate pot de creme- HOLY MOLY. I love chocolate, but frankly expected it to be a little one note, but it was far from it. It had the perfect full-bodied chocolatey flavor balanced by a dollop of whipped cream and the smoothest texture. I wanted to lick the dish. For drinks, we had the Drylands sauvignon blanc, which was incredibly smooth. A few practical things to note. This was not a cheap meal. For the two entrees, two desserts, and 3 drinks, it was a little over $200. So at least for our budget, this restaurant is reserved for special occasions. It is a VERY small space, so you will need a reservation, especially if you go on a weekend like we did. Every table was occupied for the entire 1.5- 2 hours we spent there. It can get a bit loud, just by the nature of having so many people in a small restaurant. We didn't find it distracting, but others might. Overall, everything we had was phenomenal and the service was as top-notch as you would expect from a restaurant with a chef-driven menu. We can't wait to be back next time we're celebrating something special :)

The wait staff were so thoughtful and the chef was able to cater my meal to my allergy (which I was super thankful for!). Enjoyed the evening

Crispy Short Rib
Stephanie G.

Wonderful meal in a small and intimate setting. Every staff member was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. Went there with my husband and my dad and had a great time. I had the crispy short ribs and it was to die for! The entire table agreed it was the best meal! They also have a fabulous Chamblee by the glass! (Sorry I can't remember the name of it!) We also started with The chard octopus and in order of schnitzel. Both were very good however the schnitzel in the vegetable and light sauce that accompanies it was heavenly!

Inside today was very loud, but it seemed to be a lot of celebrations going on around us. From fried green tomatoes to savory grits, to some of the best fried shrimp in the universe

I used to absolutely love this place. It was our go-to for seafood, celebrations, family dinners,…read moreand special occasions for years. We recommended it constantly and genuinely enjoyed supporting them. Unfortunately, after our last few experiences, that loyalty is completely gone. The problems really started during a dinner visit with my spouse. We had a reservation for two and specifically requested a booth because my spouse has herniated discs and booths are much easier on her back. The hostess with glasses told us there were "no booths available for parties of two," so we were seated at a tiny two-top directly in front of an empty booth. Minutes later, another couple - who apparently didn't even have the correct downstairs reservation because Wheel House was closed for a private event - was seated in that exact booth instead. When I politely questioned it, I was told they were "accommodating them." Interesting, because apparently accommodating a medical issue for customers with a reservation didn't matter. Still, we decided to give the restaurant another chance for Mother's Day. To their credit, we were seated at a booth this time after I both noted it in the reservation and called ahead to confirm it. Our waiter was someone we immediately recognized from a previous visit, and my parents mentioned he had waited on us before at that same table. Somehow, from that comment alone, he became convinced we were related to Chef Tim Tillus. From there, things got bizarre. He kept talking about "Timmy," mentioning reunions and saying he used to live with him. The restaurant was extremely loud, and my father had forgotten his hearing aids that day, so honestly we could barely understand what he was talking about. We just smiled politely and focused on asking about the menu because we truly had no clue where the conversation was going. Eventually, he came back and realized we were NOT Chef Tim Tillus' family. He then explained that the kitchen staff had apparently been laughing because the chef saw us and said, "That's not my family." So somehow this became a whole ordeal in the kitchen over a completely innocent misunderstanding. We laughed awkwardly because what else do you do at that point? But honestly, the whole interaction felt strange and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the food was even worse than the awkward service. My spouse ordered the all-day seafood soup, and somehow there was basically ZERO seafood in it. That alone was shocking because their soups used to be incredible. My father ordered the broiled platter, and the portion size was honestly embarrassing for a $29 dish. His parsley potatoes consisted of literally five tiny cubes - my mother counted them because we were in disbelief. We have eaten here for years and NEVER saw portions this small. I ordered the fish special, and it was nothing like described. It was supposed to have pecans and blackening seasoning. There were no pecans, no blackening seasoning, and the fish itself was dry, bland, overcooked, and flavorless. For $32, I was served what looked like a tiny sad pile of fish in the middle of a giant empty plate. The pork chop looked beautiful but tasted absolutely awful. At this point I honestly don't know if the kitchen quality has completely collapsed or if nobody is checking food before it leaves the line anymore. Either way, it was terrible. My mother ordered scallops on the half shell as her meal - something she has enjoyed there many times before. This time, the scallops were tiny and somehow greasy. It was shocking these dishes were even leaving the kitchen. What makes this so disappointing is that we truly loved this restaurant. We weren't casual customers. We supported this place for years because we believed the food and experience were worth it. This wasn't just a mediocre meal or an "off night." This was a genuinely terrible dining experience from start to finish, made worse by the fact that it happened on Mother's Day. The service felt awkward and disorganized, the portions were insulting, the food quality was awful, and there seemed to be zero quality control happening anywhere. At this point, our money will be supporting other establishments instead. It's honestly sad because this place USED to be special. I sincerely hope management fixes the kitchen, consistency, and overall professionalism before even more longtime customers walk away.

Everything looked fresh from the moment we walked in, and you can tell seafood is what they do best. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up coming back again on our last day before heading home. The stone crab claws were absolutely delicious, along with the oysters and shrimp. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were hoping for. My biggest recommendation is to call ahead if you're looking for stone crab claws, because they do sell out! One thing I really appreciated was being able to see all the fresh seafood on display. You can sit right at the bar area and watch them prep at the display case! For my military friends, it's also conveniently located right down the road from base, making it an easy stop when you're craving fresh seafood. Great food, fresh, friendly service, and a place we'll absolutely return to the next time we're in Florida. We only wish we had discovered it earlier in our trip!
