What a great find! This place was absolutely delicious -- literally everything I ordered was good, which is so refreshing. It's the only spot I've ever seen offer tempeh on a quesadilla, and honestly the only place where I've ever bothered to bring half a quesadilla home just so I could reheat it later. That's how good it was. My waitress was super friendly and genuinely helpful, which made the whole experience even better. And the margarita? Our waitress Erica was top notch, she was so friendly and made great food suggestions once she found out it was our first time. Holy queso.. I literally could have lickef the bowl. I ordered the loaded which had ground beef, jalapeño, tomatoes and amazing spices. The cheese was cheesy enough without being too thick. A little spice was perfection. My favorite of the night was the carnita taco (boat captain) on the menu and I can tell why its a favorite on the menu. It was seasoned to perfection with a kick of spice which was a pleasant surprise. The avocado crema, I could have just poured on everything, they should bottle it! My husband got a push notification for Taco Tuesday for Hightide and immediately messaged me wanting to go for happy hour to get some Carne asada fries. He LOVES them here, like talks about it ALL the time. I went with a double order of the 904 Taco in a hard shell and a side of rice. I love the 904 Taco, and I've gotten it in the past. I am a huge fan of their house made pickles. The pork today though didnt have much flavor to it on its own, but it does come with a mustard bbq sauce and the pickles on it. Would have enjoyed a little bit more juice and flavor coming from the pork. This was my first time getting my tacos with a hard shell there and I gotta say, as simple as it may sound, their hard shells are on spot and i may get all tacos from there going forward in a hardshell. Light and airy and good flavor. The side of rice however could have definitely used some help. It comes with cheese and the cheese is all I could taste tbh. It wasn't gross or anything like that. Just bland. I know next time to try a different side. Maybe the queso? Also got a house margarita for $5 for Happy Hour and that tasted great. My husband recommended this restaurant so we decided to go back for happy hour and didn't enjoy it much. Happy Hour Watchout: The happy hour section & bar discount section side by side on the menu cannot be combined even though they're offered at the same time of day. This was so silly!! We ordered queso that was on the HH menu then went to get the discounted tacos but they said we had to sit at the bar for those as that was the bar HH. So, we moved since the restaurant was empty. We ordered 6 tacos- steak was good, brisket was not. When the bill came, our tacos rang up as HH price but had $1.5 added to each. The waitress explained that only chicken/veggie tacos are HH price. This was silly as the menu didn't mention it & waitress nor the bartender mentioned it knowing we moved seats for HH pricing. At reviewing these charges, we also found that they'd charged us for an extra taco that they were going to remove. She handled our large group with no problems, split the checks easy peasy! Lastly the food! I thought it was really good! I hope this one is not on the way to closing! Went last night by boat. There was a guy bar tender, his personality sucked. The menu has changed and is not great like it was before. Other Mexican themed restaurants don't charge for chips and salsa yet here they do. The owner needs to take a serious look at what has changed! I'm from Texas so I have to have a TexMex fix from time to time. Lucky for me, this Hightide Burrito Bar is within walking distance from my home.....even better, they have a very nice patio so I can take my dog with me!! In the hotter months, they have fans and in the cooler months they have heaters so the patio is almost always a nice place to sit and relax. It's covered as well, so rain is not an issue! I enjoy their happy hour margaritas (be careful, they are potent) - very delicious. And, as a creature of habit, I have to get the queso and the jalapeno poppers every time I go!! This place is tucked away by a marina in Ortega and doesn't get too crazy busy so the service is always good, and I never have to wait too long to get my order. While this is one of my favorite local places to relax, I'm rating the venue with a four because it's not the best TexMex in the area and I'm dying for a cheese enchilada with chili con carne!! read more

Love this place! We ordered the Birria Dilla and the El Jefe Burrito. The chips there are perfectly homemade and seasoned. I finally got to stop by the newest location and I really enjoyed it. It's got a beachy vibe to it and it is at a marina location but unfortunately you can't see the Harbor, a rooftop bar would take care of that..hint.. hint.... There's a nice patio area with a sizable bar with lots of tvs or choose a area for the kiddos to play. Everybody's friendly and it is a great place for events or large crowds and of course if you enjoy eating chips and salsa it's a great place to go for that and add a local beer to that and it makes a great day. And of course the high tide burrito is always a winner but I'm a taco mama so I always eat the tacos, the ground beef and the chicken are top notch. This USED to be my fave place when I moved to Jax in 2020. We went every month without fail. About 2 years ago we stopped going because they decreased the size of their food by at least 25% and were charging more. They used to give unlimited free chips and salsa and they changed to just one order of free chips. We always got the El Jefe burrito and it barely had any meat in it. We stopped going. Last month my husband got take out here with a friend and he said the burritos were better. Tonight I said let's give it another shot because the weather is gorgeous and we truly loved the atmosphere outside. Here are the reasons I'll never go back here again: 1) My husband ordered his beer and they just brought the can. $7 can for a local IPA. We asked if they had it on draft. She didn't know. It took her 10 mins to find out they didn't and then to bring a glass. The waitress was so confused about this request for a glass. 2) I ordered a beer with our food order. It didn't come until I was halfway through my burrito. 3) No more free chips. Not even one order. It's terrible to start with unlimited free chips and go to zero free. 4) No prizes on the menu. How in the world do we know what they'll charge us? I guess they change prices daily? 5) My husband ordered the chicken dinner that was available Thursday to Sunday. We went Friday at 5pm. They ran out but our daughter had chicken, rice and beans so not sure what they ran out of. He said he'll take the same burrito as me. His didn't arrive so we shared mine. We finished and his still hadn't arrived. 6) The waitress just tells you the total without giving any receipt. When asking to see it she scrolls quickly through the device in her hand to show us. It's a shame how downhill this place went. The atmosphere is just so nice but with the terrible service and issues we have had, we won't be going back. If you can look past the issues then it's worth a shot. read more

Terrible service and very average food. Food was pretty gross overall. Server was atrocious, with massive attitude. Consistently got our order wrong, beers never arrived, salsa went missing, street corn was inedible and apple fritter burrito was cold. When we asked about these things we're told that's just how it is. Also to top it off, got charged an 8 person gratuity which meant automatically added 20%, despite having a 1 year old and two toddlers that didn't even eat. Would not recommend for a family or meet up place. Really the only redeeming feature of this place was knowing it had finally been evacuated from my body. read more

I love high tide! This location in particular is awesome. They are right on the beautiful Ortega river, they have outdoor seating and a generous size outdoor and indoor bar (as well as regular seating). The stand out for me is their happy hour which runs from I think 4-6pm if I'm not mistaken? It has lots of amazing choices for food and drinks. We tried the nachos which grilled chicken as well as the beef empanada and it was *chefs kiss*. Their margs are strong, staff is fun and we love we can bike here from our house! read more

We went on a Sunday around 2-ish and sat at the bar. The mimosas and sangria were $6 and potent. The margaritas were very good and were $10. Less expensive during the weekly happy hour. Everything was very fresh. Chips were $2.50, not free like other places, but it came with 3 diff sauces; mild, medium, and hot. We took leftovers home. The burrito and fish taco were very good. There are no prices on the menu - you need to use the QR code. I guess this is so they can raise the prices without re-printing the menu. :) Will be back. read more

Have been wanting to check out Hightide for a while and finally got the chance this past weekend. The restaurant has such a beautiful outdoor space that is welcoming and comfortable. Upon arriving, we noticed all of the empty tables outside were full of dishes from previous diners. We sat down at a table that just had some trash and crumbs left behind. We were greeted within a matter of minutes, but no one ever wiped the table. Not a big deal. They were super busy and short on staff. The employee who helped us out throughout our evening was awesome. She was so helpful and truly cared about the customers. They were out of a few staple items on the menu which was totally fine and allowed us to try out some items we would have tried on another visit. We ordered queso dip and some street tacos on corn tortillas. All the items we ordered were fresh and delicious. This was a very chill and relaxing night and I'm looking forward to our next visit. read more

We came here for late lunch on a Sunday afternoon after kayaking in the nearby creek. We had the dog with us and their beautiful, spacious covered patio offers a great spot to sit with him and enjoy some lunch and the game on the tv. There were two other well behaved dogs with their families on the patio and a group celebrating a toddler's birthday. The birthday group was a little obnoxious- think roaming toddlers- and loud but the patio is so large it was overall ok. The outdoor bar was about half full with some other couples and friends relaxing with drinks. The food came out quickly and there were lots of vegetarian options to choose from. I got two tempeh tacos. They came with rice, beans and chips for the table. Their chips and salsas were awesome- thick and crunchy and not greasy and the salsas flavorful. The rice and beans hit the spot. The tempeh could use some more seasoning/flavor. We also enjoyed some margaritas which were delicious. Given the nice array of vegetarian options and dog friendly patio we will definitely be back. It is tucked away off the main road in the marina so you'd never happen to just drive by and notice it but it's certainly worth finding and there's parking in back. read more

The hostess got us a table so we sat down and waited...20 mins later..a waitress hasn't seen us, never once asked if we needed drinks or anything. Just totally ignored. I've been to Hightide Burrito at Sandler's Point a few times before but waited to do this review. This is a new location. Second location in Jax. It's a pretty area near the Ortega River. Early visits, I was not too impressed with the servings and taste. But lately the taste of their Street Tacos have been really good. Also they have crispy & tasty chips. Unlimited. You'd be full on chips alone. I also like their Keto Bowl with shrimp, avocado & other veggies. It's super yummy. Another favorite is the Del Marco Taco also with shrimp. Plump & delicious. Last week I stopped by for Happy Hour. It was very busy so I had to sit at the bar. Great price on drinks. It does get crowded on Friday evening. So come early. Service is always great & friendly. I didn't even know this was here in Ortega. Our neighbor recommended it and she knew about it because she took Pilates class next door. They had options for indoor or outside seating and it was seat yourself, which I loved because you were able to distant yourself from others. The tables and chairs were all appropriately spaced apart. The servers all wore masks. We wanted Mexican for the night and it did not disappoint. They gave us chips as soon as we sat down and it came with salsa and a green tomatillo salsa. We obviously ordered queso (how can you not?). The chips were fresh and super thick with a crunch. I loved how the chips were not overly salted like they are at other places (Tijuana flats cough cough). It was happy hour and we both got margaritas. Happy hour was from 4-7pm but I'm not sure if they changes. Margaritas were $5 instead of $7. Great taste and they made my margarita pretty strong. It was a little on the sweeter side, but I'll take it with the alcohol content. I don't drink much so one was all I needed for a slight buzz. After stuffing my face with the chips, salsa, and queso ,which the waitress happily refilled, I got the high tide burrito. The burrito wasn't as big as I've seen at other restaurants, but I can't complain for $9.50. The carnitas were nice and smoky. The tots inside were crunchy and had a nice texture to them although I don't think i needed the extra calories from the tots. I was bummed that they ran out of chalula sauce but they gave me something else that had a big kick to it. I'd definitely come back for another night out and try a different menu item. My only concern was the paper menu that you can't really properly disinfect. We had hand sanitizer though so all is good. read more

There's about 4 Hightide* in Jacksonville. This one being the furthest from the other three. That's just an FYI when you are asking someone to meet you at "High Tide" and they are an assumer. With that being said this place is tucked in a plaza towards the marina. I don't think we saw a sign but I looked them up on Google Maps and knew where to go when we got to the address. The atmosphere was nice. We sat outside since we were told seating inside was very limited , although it was empty inside but I guess it's due to Covid. The drinks were surprisingly cheap - I mean a Yuengling for $3, who would have thought and I hope they keep it this way. I ordered a rum punch instead and it wasn't that great, but I ordered two because the first one had me feeling great. They also had live music and they guy was really good. Didn't catch the name but he had on Jags gear and a grey beard - I'm sure with that description you know who I'm talking about. The food: I ordered 5 tacos. I don't remember which ones but I think it included each meat, street style minus the avocado sauce with corn flour. I wasn't a fan of it. I've had wayyyy better tacos but it made me full. Yes I should have taken a pic but my son thought Youtube was more important. My wife ordered the bold city burrito, I think. It had hash browns and a bunch of other stuff that I personally didn't think should be in a burrito, she thought it was okay. The hit of the night was the empanadas. I'm going to give that a shot next time but minus all the sauce that's on it. I don't recall what everyone else order but the empanadas since that's all they all raved about. Sucks that this place closes at 9:00pm. I think it would be a cool little spot once the sun goes down and the drinks start flowing. read more

My husband and I have been happy customers of High Tide since they opened BUT no more. We had a bad experience recently and felt it needed to be shared. First, chips and salsa are no longer complimentary so we requested an order, they were stale (not the first time) so we sent them back. The server never returned. We waited and waited, she never brought the check. There are no prices on the menu so we so we left, what we thought it would be, on the table and left. Also, the wait staff were all over the place. Came here this morning for their breakfast. I had their breakfast burrito with bacon. It was pretty good. Not like the ones that you find at those fast food places, but actually good. I was probably the only person there for a while this morning, until other customers came. The staff and service were friendly. The place was nice and clean, especially the patio where I sat. It's one of the few places in the Lakeshore area where you can sit outside and enjoy a meal or drinks. read more

This new location is great. Near the water and I have been told by the bartender that waited on us that you can call Sadler Point Marine Center (1 (904) 384-1383) and park your boat and enjoy a meal and some drinks whille on the river. The 2 bars are great. One is inside and one is on the outside patio. I will say the service needs some tweaking. We ordered some drinks, chips and cheese. 30 min later the are walking all over the place trying to find who it belongs to. When they bring it to us they explain they made it with sausage and did we still want it, after they remade it the correct way and burnt it. We said yes because we did not want to wait another 30 min. By then the cheese was cold and not enjoyable. But to top it all off they charged us full price for the 3 mess ups on the appetizer. read more
