We found Cantina Louie's when looking for local places to eat on Facebook. It was located on our route out of town, opened when we were planning to leave and had lunch specials that included a drink. My husband and I are always a fan of Mexican. The restaurant decor was colorful and inviting. It was clean and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. The options on the lunch special menu met both our wants. The portion sizes were more than enough and the taste was great. The ingredients were fresh and food came out hot. I would recommend stopping in if you are looking for a great Mexican restaurant.

Stopped in for a quick drink and apps. They had a great deal that consisted of empanadas, taquitos and nachos for like $15. Had the mango margarita as well which was delicious. Service was good and sat in a large booth that could fit 6-8.

One of the better Mexican restaurants in St Augustine. Great wait staff who are very attentive. Enjoyed a good meal with plenty of chips and salsa.

Cold Midwest refugees, meet your Mexican savior (with a side of nostalgia). We were visiting from -- or more accurately, escaping -- the frozen Midwest to soak up the magic of St. Augustine's Night of Lights. Magical? Yes. Crowded? Also yes. Parking? A full-contact sport. So we did what any rational, slightly hangry tourists would do: asked ChatGPT for a local favorite with parking that wouldn't make us cry. Enter Cantina Louie -- and honestly, bless this place. First impressions: the atmosphere is a little kitschy, cute, and refreshingly simple. Nothing pretentious, nothing trying too hard. In fact, we were about 90% sure it used to be an old Pizza Hut -- you know, the Pizza Hut -- with the iconic red roof. And honestly? That just unlocked a wave of childhood nostalgia. Somewhere between ordering breadsticks in the '90s and now ordering margaritas as adults, it all came full circle. Now, the food. We ordered La Parrilla, which arrived like it had something to prove. Fajita chicken, pulled pork, carne asada, steak carne asada, and Mexican street corn all piled together in a sizzling, aromatic flex. Every bite made us pause, look at each other, and ask, "Wait... is THIS the best one?" Spoiler: we never decided. As if that wasn't enough, we added the appetizer sampler, because self-control was not on the itinerary. Two enchiladas, mini taquitos, pineapple pork al pastor, avocado, salsa, and guacamole -- basically a greatest-hits album of Mexican comfort food. And the salsa? Unreal. We debated drinking it. With a straw. No shame. Let's talk value. All that food came in under $40. Under. Forty. Dollars. In a tourist town. During peak season. Somewhere, an accountant wept tears of joy. To hydrate (for science), we ordered two 1850 margaritas -- one classic, one strawberry. Both were generously sized, dangerously smooth, and absolutely doing the Lord's work. One sip in and we forgot all about traffic, crowds, and the cold Midwest we left behind. Final verdict: Cantina Louie didn't just save us from parking chaos -- it fed us, watered us, and gave us a warm hug of Pizza Hut nostalgia. If you're in St. Augustine during Night of Lights and don't want to wrestle a parking meter for tacos, this is the move. We came for the lights. We stayed for the salsa.

We like to come here when visiting FL. It is always good and reasonable priced! The street corn is awesome, but only served on some days. I love the tacos but his time we tried something new and weren't disappointed. The staff is always nice and smiling and the inside of the restaurant is really cool with bright colors. Here is a few tips: order the cheese sauce to dip your chips in & if you love hot sauce order the house hot sauce (it is very hot).

We had the queso as appetizer-good. We split the chicken fajita and took 1/2 home. It was delicious! Our server was very friendly and helpful with a smile on her face. Definitely recommend and will be back.

Large portions, beautiful plates and silverware, and quaint, cozy ambiance in America's oldest city. Fast forward to Saturday the 14th, and I'm back again with family visiting from out of the country. The food was good, but the vibe was a bit different. Started with chips & salsa - good, but hardly any chips. We had 3/4 of a dish of salsa remaining after finishing the chips, and we were told that we would have to pay for a refill of chips. Very sad! We also ordered two taco platters, and three chicken quesadilla platters. Food was good, but the side portions (beans and rice) were very small, and served in tiny plastic cups. The plates and silverware were replaced with cardboard plates/trays and plastic cutlery. Although the food was good, the presentation was disappointing. Our waitress did a good job, so kudos to her! $120+ before a tip - a couple more chips would have been nice, and real plates and silver would have been amazing.....just saying.

I got the lamb birria bowl and it was so tender ans well seasoned. Their rice bowls are very much like chipotle style in components but fresher. Avocadoes are fresh and tasty and they have a bunch of different kinds of hot sauces and salsa on the side. Plaintain chips are good but I wish they were warm/hot. my friends like their beef burritos a lot too. Their ranking was lamb then beef, pork, chicken. Love that the menu is quite simple and easy to order. The staffs are so friendly and helpful and location is right across the Castillo de San Marcos fortress. Would def come back.

I'm 45 minutes away or I'd be there every week. I got the Mahi UFO and it was divine. The mahi was plentiful and perfectly cooked, the wrap almost tasted like cheese was grilled on the outside of it and it actually has a consistent crunch alllll over. The portion was plentiful and they included some lime on the side that set it off! I'll be making trips to this side of town for this spot alone. Spots around don't even compare - Memorable is an understatement. Seating is small and looked like mostly if not all outdoor - I ordered online and my wrap was hot and fresh when I picked it up. 1000/10

There is a small covered area but it's mostly high top seats for a few people. But this is a neighborhood spot feels like you're eating in your backyard. The line for ordering can get extremely long during popular dinning times such as lunch and dinner. So be prepared to wait in line and wait for your dishes. I promise it is worth the wait. I recommend ordering chips and queso they do bring that out quickly and you can much while you wait for your main dishes. The UFO is my favorite dish on the menu and I crave it all the time. It's a flour tortilla that covers a hard taco stuffed with a protein (I love that blackened Mahi) and you can get it spicy (Baja style) or mild (the works). Absolutely the best thing here! If you're grabbing to go, check their website. Sometimes it's not open, but normally you can order ahead and pay online. So when you arrive you can pick up at the pick up window. Love this new addition. You cannot go wrong with anything, everything is amazing and honestly top contender for best taco on St Aug!
