It's been quite a while since I visited this establishment because my last experience was slow service and maybe a 3 out of 10 on the food. Well I visited last night for a work event and I was pleasantly surprised. When we walked in and told them how many were in our party they barely blinked an eye and set us up at our table within 5 minutes. The waitress handled our party of 10+ smoothly and like a boss! We found Cantina Louie's when looking for local places to eat on Facebook. It was located on our route out of town, opened when we were planning to leave and had lunch specials that included a drink. My husband and I are always a fan of Mexican. The restaurant decor was colorful and inviting. It was clean and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. The options on the lunch special menu met both our wants. The portion sizes were more than enough and the taste was great. The ingredients were fresh and food came out hot. We had a pretty nice experience at Cantina Louie last night. Ambiance-- welcoming, fun & funky. Service-- our server was a bit too casual for my taste. She seemed like she was always eager to leave the table, but then go talk to other employees. I needed to get up from my table to look for hot sauce. It's a Mexican restaurant, so I thought it might be offered to me or easy to find. Food-- everything tasted great! Presentation was on point, and the chips and salsa were delicious as well. This is food for the Americanized palate, so there isn't a ton of heat anywhere, including the salsa. Drinks-- I had thr Spicy Watermelon Margarita and it was perfect! Great flavor, with the right amount of heat. And on Tuesdays its only $6.99! I should have ordered a double though! read more

My husband received a gift card in March for his birthday and we have been unable to redeem it in the two visits since. We've called weekly since and the restaurant still continues to say they cannot redeem them. We asked that it be refunded and management won't. We've reached out to corporate by email twice with no response and by phone where no one answers. While management has discounted our meal when we've gone, we've still had to pay out of pocket each time when we have a fully intact gift card that would cover meals. While we understand things happen, corporate refusing to respond with what they are doing or plan to do to address this issue is the most frustrating considering it's been months. It's unfortunate that we feel scammed because we do like the restaurant and staff, but we'll probably look elsewhere until this issue is resolved. read more

It's high time I update my review. A few of my friends love to meet here for chips, salsa, and margaritas...and sometimes small bites and/or lunch or dinner. Honestly, you can get better Mexican food elsewhere. Cantina Louie's food does not appeal to me personally for many reasons like the way they spice their meat, the sweet jalapenos on nachos, the often flavorless food, and the lack of cheese to name a few. In short, the food overall has a weird flavor to me and not my thing, however, the margaritas are good. In addition, this Cantina Louie location is just different from the other locations to me as far as the food. Service is ok. When the place isn't busy and I have an empty glass of water and looking around for the pitcher, something is wrong. Once you get the check, don't expect anything else, so be sure to ask when you do see someone. It's an average restaurant I suppose, that offers an average experience. If you are meeting with friends for a drink...it doesn't matter. Prices are fair. There is ample parking. Depending on the time of day, it may be hard to get out of the area, but always easy to get into. I'd recommend it for a drink/cocktail with friends and maybe chips & salsa, but not for eats (just my opinion), at least not at this location. read more

I have been to this restaurant location several times over the years. Over the last couple weeks my daughter has been in the hospital next-door. As a lover of Mexican food this afforded me the opportunity to visit a couple more times in a row. I believe her name is Samantha, but she has been my waitress two of these times. The first time I had to leave pretty quickly and apologized and told her I had to be at the hospital to visit my daughter due to an appointment. The next time I came back she actually asked me how my daughter was doing and told me that she was praying for her. I appreciate her going above and beyond her waitress position to not only remember a customer, but to be thoughtful and respectful concerning a serious situation. read more

This restaurant took over an old Pizza Hut building after it closed and transformed the place into a charming purple-and-pink restaurant touting its "Mexican street food." On our most recent visit we had the specialty taco platter with one Chimi Chimi Bang Bang (skirt steak in chimichurri sauce with queso fresco) and one sriracha shrimp (fried shrimp with cole slaw, buffalo sauce and ranch). The shrimp taco was the highlight with a really nice combination of flavors. The tacos had an option we didn't try called "hangover style" that adds a hardshell taco inside the soft tortilla and came with queso dip. The menu also has a Mexican esquite street corn appetizer and street tacos. Signs in the restaurant advertised their new birria tacos. Gotta go back sometime to try them to dip in birria broth and avocado sauce. read more

First time visiting Cantina Louie's. We got the queso dip as a starter. It was large enough for all 4 of us. I ordered the house margarita and it was really good. For my meal I got the esquite dip and the grilled mahi mahi street taco. The esquite needed more mexican mayo and flavor. It was basically just corn in a bowl. The taco was really good. My wife order the spicy watermelon margarita and it was really good as well. The service and good. Waitress and fast. The atmosphere was just like a normal Mexican restaurant. Ordered them through doordash and was pleasantly surprised I loved how they had an avocado and cheese enchilada. That was deliciousss I also ordered the kids burrito (beef & cheese) red sauce up top was a bit salty and the meat inside had interesting seasoning. Nonetheless my daughter ate it. I also got the chimi churi taco the meat was a bit salty but I love chimmi churi sauce so it compensated. Lastly I had the churros and fir once they didn't have a cream filling . If ever you read a review and heed its warning, PLEASE let this one be the one. If you're a big fan of imitation this is your best bet in the area, however, if you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine this is not the spot as the only thing authentic thing in the entire restaurant is probably the decor which probably isn't even authentic as you probably could've gotten the decor from your local dollar tree. Totally disappointed, from the ambience-to the food-to the horrid and childish staff. Walking in and having half naked teenagers reluctantly seat us was not something I anticipated. Once seated, waiting over ten minutes for our waitress to finally take drink orders only to then run away as fast as possible to avoid taking food orders was eye opening as to how they train their staff. I took into consideration it might've been overwhelming, however, the attitude problem and overall blatant avoidance of our table remained the same throughout the experience, even despite there being not a lot of people for dinner. The food was even more sad as the chicken lacked flavor, and the shrimp tacos were borderline raw; having probably sat on a hot plate for who knows how long waiting to finally be used. Only when giving us the check did the poor girl smile or show any grace as a waitress. I'm sure it was due to whatever the immature cooks in the back had been saying and/or doing that would make her suddenly have a brighter and more chipper attitude. Towards the end of the meal, somebody started belching and yelling something in-cohesive in the back ruining whatever nice qualities the restaurant had. Super upsetting, it was a family night that was ruined by nonsensical behavior and a piss poor menu. You're sincerely better off buying the ingredients to your favorite Mexican dish and doing yourself better justice at home. Awesome Mexican food. Everyone I bring here loves it. I get the fajitas or Carne Asada and it's delicious. Taco Tuesday is also a good deal and delicious! My wife is vegetarian and they have many options. The service is great too. It's a fun atmosphere for the whole family. Still loving this place!! At dinner for 3 for under 29 dollars including tip. We shared a huge portion of steak fajitas with a huge portion of rice and black beans. They give more meat with their fajitas than any Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten. Drinks were phenomenal with the exception of the Spicy Watermelon Margarita which was weak and syrupy. Food was hit or miss: the Mango Salsa Calamari was very good, the queso was good but salty, the Mexican Esquite (street corn) seemed like old canned corn with a dollop of mayo on top. Taquitos were okay but wouldn't reorder. The guac was also just okay, as were the tacos. The avocado and cheese enchilada was pretty good but not great. Service wasn't excellent-- we weren't given plates when we got apps, and we had to ask for chips to accompany the guac and queso. The server didn't come around as often as we needed either. I was so excited when I saw that they have happy hour from 2-5pm featuring 1/2 price apps and $3.99 margaritas. We asked our server if this was for all margaritas and she said yes- that it was just $1 more for specialty margs. When we got the check, none but one marg was discounted. We talked to the server and she had the manager come over who said that specialty margs weren't discounted and that the server swore she never said that. The six of us sitting there all witnessed that she had, and told the manager that, but he insisted she didn't say that, and offered to give us a $20 gift card (which was the difference between the happy hour price we were quoted). I appreciate that he took care of it in the end, but the best practice would be to admit that they made a mistake. In the end he said it was her second day, which sounded like he knew she made a mistake, but he never admitted it outright. Overall, would definitely come back for drinks.
