Close to work. They have Mineragua! My food was good. Great service. Same corn chips all over town. They are thick for this Houston boy and not fresh made. That aside the food is decent.

El Potro Mexican Restaurant, St. Augustine, FL My husband, daughter, and I ate here a few days ago. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! My husband is from Southern California and where we moved from in Southwest Florida. Let's just say they had some amazing Mexican food. Since moving here last, August we've been in a search for good Mexican food. This place did not disappoint! And to make things even better, their prices were pretty reasonable. Definitely try them out if you're in the area. This place sits on the outskirts of the historic district. Depending on your B&B or hotel, you might have to drive here. Service was good!

Tony and I had dinner at El Potro Mexican Restaurant in St Augustine Florida. We have been eating seafood all week and since we are in a town with Spanish Influence, we wanted Tacos...I was going to another restaurant but this one was much closer to Vilano Beach, so this was a better choice. Waiter was very helpful. He did a wonderful job and our food was so good!! Definitely would eat here again and highly recommend to anyone in the area. I had Grilled Fish and Grilled Chicken with beans and rice on the side. Great choice!! With an Iced Tea with lemon and lime. Tony had Steak and Chicken Tacos with Beans and Rice!! Of course a Draft Beer!!!

So far after moving to Florida from California (no we didn't bring any CA BS with us, we left for a reason) this is the closest thing to "real Mexican food" we have found. Coming from San Diego this is the biggest thing we miss and also the hardest thing to find. We have been to 4 "Mexican food restaurants" and the other 3 aren't worth mentioning and are certainly not real authentic places.

Portions were HUGE! Food was warm and delicious. The Queso was a bit runny but nothing to complain about. I had the taquitos, and I would order them again. Their menu has such a large selection too!

I was here almost every night I was in town. It was located right across the street from my hotel and easy walk for a drinks and snacks. I loved their carne asada and el pastor street tacos! Huge servings!

I can't boast or brag. But I can say that when I asked El Potro for a chicken taco salad (hold the tomato), I knew what I was getting and I knew exactly how it would look and taste! There's something to be said for consistency, right?! El Porto didn't deviate one bit from the typical Mexican restaurant flow, and gave me what I asked for. Nothing more, nothing less. Didn't love it, didn't hate it, just stuck right there in the middle of "like" I guess. Per usual, my order was accurately noted and delivered, the service was fast, and there was absolutely none of my shenanigans and usual friendly banter with the staff. (I ordered and she was outta' there) All in all, an adequate $10 lunch is what we have here!

Food was "ok" - taco beef was comparable to Taco Bell. Waitress was not very pleasant and seemed to have an attitude.

Crowded today. Still has the most tasty Mexican around. Great tacos and tamales. Also non alcohol beer.

Not real Mexican, food is bad quality, prices are very high, you might as well go to Taco Bell!

Large portions, beautiful plates and silverware, and quaint, cozy ambiance in America's oldest city. Fast forward to Saturday the 14th, and I'm back again with family visiting from out of the country. The food was good, but the vibe was a bit different. Started with chips & salsa - good, but hardly any chips. We had 3/4 of a dish of salsa remaining after finishing the chips, and we were told that we would have to pay for a refill of chips. Very sad! We also ordered two taco platters, and three chicken quesadilla platters. Food was good, but the side portions (beans and rice) were very small, and served in tiny plastic cups. The plates and silverware were replaced with cardboard plates/trays and plastic cutlery. Although the food was good, the presentation was disappointing. Our waitress did a good job, so kudos to her! $120+ before a tip - a couple more chips would have been nice, and real plates and silver would have been amazing.....just saying.

I got the lamb birria bowl and it was so tender ans well seasoned. Their rice bowls are very much like chipotle style in components but fresher. Avocadoes are fresh and tasty and they have a bunch of different kinds of hot sauces and salsa on the side. Plaintain chips are good but I wish they were warm/hot. my friends like their beef burritos a lot too. Their ranking was lamb then beef, pork, chicken. Love that the menu is quite simple and easy to order. The staffs are so friendly and helpful and location is right across the Castillo de San Marcos fortress. Would def come back.
