My brother had heard about this place so we decided to check it out for a late lunch, early dinner situation. Before we even walked in, we were reading through the reviews and noticed that the owner has a habit of responding to any criticism with an absolute novel of complaints back at the reviewer. Honestly hilarious. We pulled up around 3:30 on a Friday and were practically the only people there. We ordered everything to-go, which honestly felt like the right call anyway since the inside is pretty tiny. I got the shredded chicken bowl, same as my mom. My dad got a chicken burrito and my brother got a steak burrito. The flavors in my bowl were good but nothing that really stood out. It was heavy on the rice, onions, and black beans, which was a problem for my mom since she's not a black beans person, so she wasn't thrilled with hers. My dad was still a little hungry after his burrito. My brother was the happiest of the group with his steak burrito though, so there's that. Overall we just didn't feel like the portion sizes and quality justified the prices. The staff was friendly, which was appreciated. But it's a middle of the road experience for us. These people can take my money any day. The service was STANDOUT - not something you expect at what seems like kind of a hole in the wall place. Travis was so kind to our kiddos - small gestures like giving us a quarter for the gumball machine and rushing over to save the day with rags and a "spill sticker" right as my kid was about to lose his mind after accidentally spilling an entire cup of consommé. The tacos were SO good, as was everyone else we ate and drank. Guacamole was a standout. Mint lemonade or whatever special drink I had was so refreshing. Tried this location while in town. Food was ok. I got the chicken salad. The chicken is shredded with a spicy chipotle sauce. It was sitting on a bed of spinach type lettuce which didn't match "Mexican" food. The queso reminded me of chez whiz. We had a wonderful experience at Mojo's Tacos! We came in on a Tuesday night around 6:30, and there was only one other group in line to order. I ordered a shrimp taco and skirt steak taco, and we found a table outside. It's a more casual atmosphere, as you order at the counter then they bring out your food. Our food came in about 10 minutes. Both my tacos were amazing, especially the skirt steak one. We also got a side of queso which was some of the best queso I've had, and great to dip my taco in. A must!! Stopped in on a day trip to St Augustine and this place was so yummy! Such a popular spot that can get busy but it moves relatively timely! Such a cute surf taco shop. I love the double decker/hard shell and soft shell combination of their tacos and the arepas was also delicious. With the side of chips, everything hit the spot. Tacos were good. We have tried Mexican food here in FL from Miami to St Augustine to Sarasota to Gainesville and the Carne asada is cooked in a red sauce? It's wet and not seasoned very well. Amazing little joint off of st Augustine blvd. We were just driving and pull in and oh boy , happy we did. The small restaurant had a menu over the counter and the staff were friendly. The tacos are so fresh and cooked to order. They are like double decker so a hard and soft shell. The drink options are amazing and so is the decor in the establishment. There's parking out front but even more out back in a fenced area. I love the mahi tacos, and the mojo sauce gives them a little kick, plus you get a bonus of tortilla chips in the bottom of your bag.
