My brother had heard about this place so we decided to check it out for a late lunch, early dinner situation. Before we even walked in, we were reading through the reviews and noticed that the owner has a habit of responding to any criticism with an absolute novel of complaints back at the reviewer. Honestly hilarious. We pulled up around 3:30 on a Friday and were practically the only people there. We ordered everything to-go, which honestly felt like the right call anyway since the inside is pretty tiny. I got the shredded chicken bowl, same as my mom. My dad got a chicken burrito and my brother got a steak burrito. The flavors in my bowl were good but nothing that really stood out. It was heavy on the rice, onions, and black beans, which was a problem for my mom since she's not a black beans person, so she wasn't thrilled with hers. My dad was still a little hungry after his burrito. My brother was the happiest of the group with his steak burrito though, so there's that. Overall we just didn't feel like the portion sizes and quality justified the prices. The staff was friendly, which was appreciated. But it's a middle of the road experience for us. If you go, maybe stick to the steak options based on our little sample size. read more

These people can take my money any day. The service was STANDOUT - not something you expect at what seems like kind of a hole in the wall place. Travis was so kind to our kiddos - small gestures like giving us a quarter for the gumball machine and rushing over to save the day with rags and a "spill sticker" right as my kid was about to lose his mind after accidentally spilling an entire cup of consommé. The tacos were SO good, as was everyone else we ate and drank. Guacamole was a standout. Mint lemonade or whatever special drink I had was so refreshing. We will absolutely come back anytime we are in St. Augustine. My only regret is rushing through my meal (due to having two small nap-ready kids) and not savoring every single bite. read more

Tried this location while in town. Food was ok. I got the chicken salad. The chicken is shredded with a spicy chipotle sauce. It was sitting on a bed of spinach type lettuce which didn't match "Mexican" food. The queso reminded me of chez whiz. My husband said his steak salad was good and he would give this restaurant 3 stars. read more

Surf Beach Chill Taco Burrito Bowl Cafe. Best menu on the planet for someone like me. Easy to order if you love tacos. Pick a protein and enjoy your life. All tacos are Double Deckers. You get a crunchy taco protected by melted cheese and a soft tortilla. I love every taco. And the blacked mahi taco had an absolutely beautifully cooked piece of fish. We had a wonderful experience at Mojo's Tacos! We came in on a Tuesday night around 6:30, and there was only one other group in line to order. I ordered a shrimp taco and skirt steak taco, and we found a table outside. It's a more casual atmosphere, as you order at the counter then they bring out your food. Our food came in about 10 minutes. Both my tacos were amazing, especially the skirt steak one. We also got a side of queso which was some of the best queso I've had, and great to dip my taco in. Overall, great place for a quick easy dinner with high quality food and affordable prices. read more

First off, let me just say that this place is SUCH a lifesaver on those scorching hot Florida days. We came here after shopping around for a little bit and the sun was baking us dry. The inside is so nice and dark and cool it was refreshing. Food-wise: we got the nachos and the arepas. A must!! Stopped in on a day trip to St Augustine and this place was so yummy! Such a popular spot that can get busy but it moves relatively timely! Such a cute surf taco shop. I love the double decker/hard shell and soft shell combination of their tacos and the arepas was also delicious. With the side of chips, everything hit the spot. Came here close to close with some friends when visited them and was glad that we did! First thing I noticed was even though we entered 15 minutes before they closed, I felt we were treated as if we just walked in when they opened and it was very clean! The level of customer service was top notch ! We even took our time looking at the menu , dined inside and never once felt pressured for us to leave. Ordered two different arepas and it was delicious!!! Also got some mojo sauce on the side and wish I had more. I think they have the best hot sauce I've ever tried Food was delicious! Even though I'm use to Venezuelan arepas and it wasn't similar, it still was worth every bite! Great place for vegans and carnivore to enjoy a meal out! My only complaint would be I got the raspberry tea in the glass jar and wouldn't get it again. read more

Tacos were good. We have tried Mexican food here in FL from Miami to St Augustine to Sarasota to Gainesville and the Carne asada is cooked in a red sauce? It's wet and not seasoned very well. We are From CA and city of San Diego born and raised and we know real true Mexican food is plus we are Mexican. This is not how carne asada is prepared. And many places don't have fresh salsa?? Only store bought hot sauce, again not true Mexican. We were given what taste like "red hot" that is usually put on chicken wings? read more

Amazing little joint off of st Augustine blvd. We were just driving and pull in and oh boy , happy we did. The small restaurant had a menu over the counter and the staff were friendly. You can eat at the restaurant or you can take the food to go. It seemed to be a mix. Mojo's Tacos offers a solid taco experience, though I don't enjoy it quite as much as Osprey's. But it is open on Tuesdays!! However, their brisket taco stands out and is truly amazing--it's in a class all by itself. One improvement they could make is adding Jarritos to their drink selection, which would complement their food nicely. Overall, it's a good spot for tacos with standout items worth trying. read more

My husband picked up a breakfast burrito for me. DELICIOUS!! Salsa, egg, potatoes and steak. Best breakfast I have had in awhile! So big, I could only eat 1/2! (I know what I'm having tomorrow am!) First time visit, so I wasn't really sure what to expect other than the reviews were good. The kid who helped me at the counter was very accommodating and very helpful! I told him what I wanted, and he led me in the right direction. Received our food and it was very good and there were huge helpings, so you're definitely getting your moneys worth! I had this taco about two years ago in St Augustine when me and my now husband first visited and I couldn't stop thinking about it. It didn't disappoint this time either. The tacos are so fresh and cooked to order. They are like double decker so a hard and soft shell. The drink options are amazing and so is the decor in the establishment. I love the vibes and the amount of flavor and protein/filling in the tacos leaves nothing behind. The free chips in the bottom of the bag were astounding as well! Service was great, good food we will definitely be back and hopefully sooner this time! Also bonus its pet friendly! read more

I've been here a number of times and it never disappoints! Ambience is super casual with a decent amount of seating inside and some tables with umbrellas outside. There's parking out front but even more out back in a fenced area. I love the mahi tacos, and the mojo sauce gives them a little kick, plus you get a bonus of tortilla chips in the bottom of your bag. For the tacos, they put the cheese between two tortillas - brilliant! If you like tacos in a casual spot with fun beach themed music, then check it out! read more

Have been to both locations four times in the past few weeks. Great food & service. The shrimp burritos were amazing. Also, tried the chicken arepa and beef burrito are great. I'm from New Jersey where the tacos aren't the best but they are far from the worst. I came here with high expectations and i don't know why. Maybe because I'm from out of town. Let's just say I'd rather eat home 20x over. The tacos here were extremely salty. The service was great and the ambiance was very welcoming. I guess it makes up for mediocre tacos. This use to be a great place to go and eat while experiencing the uniqueness of eating out of an old gas station.....The food was good and so was the service....! Me thinks a change in attitude is needed. Honestly, when did snotty millennials with way too many tattoos and piercings get to say the customer isn't right when they've made a gravest error in your order? First insult! I was there a few weeks ago and ordered a taco salad with Mahi. My order taker, with a few too many face piercings and tattoos had a problem with me sending the basic taco back that I got for $15.00, in lieu of my Mahi Taco Salad. I refused to take it and had to go back in to to get my refund right 2x's because they couldn't get the refund right--fuzzy math. Second insult! Here's a suggestion. Stick with great food, get rid of the crazy, wacko "pretty girl I'm sexy syndrome" and get someone that really wants to help the customer, get the orders right, and take complete responsibility when getting an order wrong. Honestly, they were shocked when I wouldn't wait for them to get the order right. Third insult! I'm a local & Mojos is my favorite place on the island. I literally can't get over it. It's like if a flavor blasted goldfish were a burrito. Every bite SO tasty. Definitely recommend getting extra mojos sauce. And maybe asking for the burrito extra toasted if you're into that. I always get the tempeh because it's local and organic but I've tried the ground beef and it was also good. I ordered the arepas to go (I live 30 min outside of town) and didn't look in the box until I got home - mistake. There were two corn patties with ground beef in the middle. THAT. WAS. IT. The tacos/burritos were OK, but I feel like everything was a little over priced for the amount of food we received. If you like tempeh, it was awesome! Definitely 4 stars for that alone. You can really taste the love in the cooking--it's authentic, delicious, and super satisfying. The atmosphere is always welcoming and laid-back. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive--they make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. I've tried a bunch of dishes here and I've never been disappointed, but the tacos will always be my favorite! If you're craving great Mexican food with great service, La Cocina is the place to go.

We were seated as soon as we arrive and the food came on time as well. I got 3 different types of tacos to try. I must say all of them were delicious. Highly recommend and want to visit this place again if we ever drive to Florida again.
