For my wife's Chicken Parmesan they were willing to change the pasta to grits - and that was very nice of them. Grits are similar to polenta- which is how she makes hers. She liked her dish. I had the three fish combo - and it was not very good. I believe a small piece of flounder (which was overcooked), three or four shrimp (which were overcooked as well), and a crab cake - which was decent but kind of mushy, but the moisture helped me to eat the other overcooked fish so ended up being a positive. Had key lime pie for dessert- which was okay but not great in my opinion. We did not complain or ask them to redo the fish. Service and ambiance, plus them working with my wife on her dish pushed them to a 4-star. My dish by itself was probably 3 star at best but other elements of the experience were very nice. O.C. Whites looked very nice from the outside, and a permanently closed restaurant nearby had signs recommending it so after perusing the menu, me and my girlfriend decided to give it a try. The restaurant was completely empty for lunch. The staff there, while very attentive and friendly to us, clearly had nothing else to do and just stood around the bar talking VERY loudly about sports or whatnot. Our waitress was very nice, we both ordered Fish and Chips made with different meat and it was.... okay. The breading was nothing special, though with the fish I think it was fine. Sure to being 4th of July of course there was a 30-40 min wait but no big deal. Casual setting with love music outside while you wait. It was nice soothing sounds too I really liked that. After being seated the food came quickly which was unexpected with the amount of people dining inside and outside. The ribs didn't disappoint but the hushpuppies were just ok. I hadn't had a drink in quite a while and the key lime martini was not it. Maybe it's just my taste buds have changed since being sick or the fact it didn't taste like key lime which I love, I had to return it. We had been here 9 months ago and sat outside on their shady patio and enjoyed it. However, we had never seen the inside of the restaurant. Today we decided to return for lunch and sit inside because it was way too hot to sit outside again. We arrived fifteen minutes before they officially opened but the parking lot attendant was nice enough to let us park and escorted us inside the restaurant. They kindly seated us anyway and our friendly server, Julian, got us some waters. The menu has plenty of good sounding appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. They also had three lunch specials. I went with the shrimp melt sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. It came on a soft hoagie roll and had shrimp, garlic, tomatoes, arugula, and melted provolone cheese. A side of seasoned fries was also included. My husband had the fresh catch sandwich. His choices of fish were Mahi, salmon, flounder or cod. He chose the blackened flounder and really enjoyed it. My mother in law had fish and chips. She also got to choose between Mahi, salmon, cod or flounder. She chose the cod and said it was very fresh. I stopped into OC White's around 6:30pm on a Sunday to order the Caribbean salad and bruschetta to go and sat at the bar with a water while I waited. The female bartender was really friendly and kind. My food was ready in under five minutes, which was such a nice surprise after a long day. I'm usually really basic about salad dressing and was a little unsure about the honey lime dressing with all the toppings, but I took the plunge and it ended up being really good and went perfectly with the fruit and nuts. The Caribbean salad was super fresh and delicious (even when I had the second half the next night!), and the bruschetta was great too. Very crunchy! They have a free parking lot for restaurant customers, which makes it an easy choice in busy St. Augustine. I'd definitely order from here again. read more

Very nice atmospheres and a warm welcome, with an offer sit outside during the week. Server was prompt and familiar with the days specials and didn't waste any time taking our orders. Started with a standard Fried Calamari, that was served at a good temp and plentiful. Unfortunately it was a bit bland. Next was a nice cup of New England Clam Chowder, that was very flavorful but slightly thicker than I prefer. Fried Flounder Sandwich was good flaky and not greasy, served with seasoned French Fries, which are a big NO in my book. I want to taste the potato and not a mix seasoning profile. We were looking for a spot to grab some seafood and saw this in the distance so decided to try it. Now being in St Augustine the prices are not going to be cheap and they weren't here. The portions were very small too unfortunately. I will say though that everything tasted fresh ! My mom and I split the fish and chips and the Cod fish was amazing . The fries were really good too. It was another very busy weekend in Saint Augustine when we were all looking for a place to eat dinner. Being a group of seven it's hard to accommodate well and OC White's did it with grace and ease. We were seated right away. Our server was very attentive and amazing. We started out by ordering a drink, and they were very good. What we liked most is that they had a selection of a specialty drinks, which made our visit unique. They were all scrumptious. What was even better was our dinner. The fish tacos were very, very good. The fish was tender, and it was not covered with a bunch of batter. It was flaky well cooked and paired well with the mango salsa, served on top. The crabcakes and the clam chowder were all delicious. This is a place that I will revisit every time I come to Saint Augustine because they made seating easy. . . I have been to O.C. White's more than 10 times over the past five years. The food has usually been very good, and the service has ranged from acceptable to good. Unfortunately, my visit on July 3 was a completely different experience. We had a party of six and arrived in the middle of the afternoon. The restaurant was not crowded, and we were greeted promptly. Our drinks arrived about 10 minutes later, and the appetizers my friends ordered were delivered quickly by a food runner. The appetizers were fresh and tasted great. We placed our entrée orders shortly after, and that's when things went downhill. Five of the six meals came out correctly, but my order was completely wrong, not just the entrée, but the sides as well. Mistakes happen, so I wasn't upset when it was sent back to be corrected. After waiting 15 minutes, there was still no sign of my meal. At the 25-minute mark, everyone else at the table had finished eating and their plates had already been cleared. Our server, Amanda, finally came over and simply said there was one more ticket ahead of mine. There was no apology, no explanation, and no effort from a manager to address the situation. The lack of concern came across as if my experience simply didn't matter. At that point, I canceled my meal. Even when the bill was presented, there was still no apology from the server or a visit from a manager. A sincere apology and some acknowledgment of the mistake could have gone a long way, but neither happened. Unfortunately, the complete lack of customer service overshadowed what had started as a good meal and left me and 5 other people very disappointed. read more

Came here for dinner while visiting the area. The location is fantastic, spacious outdoor patio with live music and plenty of seating indoor in the two story restaurant. The parking validation they offers is also hard to come by for the area. Even though they were very busy, our wait was only 15 mins, which was very reasonable compared to other near by spots. Great lunch with a cool outdoor patio vibe. My initial disclosure is that I never made it inside the restaurant, since the covered patio looks so beautiful, we just sat out there. We were quickly approached by our server, Brenda who brought over some freshly made iced tea. She was super friendly. I had the shrimp melt sandwich which was something I had never seen before and it tasted excellent. The sweet potato fries were perfectly prepared even with no additional sauce, ketchup, etc. needed. It was a great place to spend a weekday afternoon for about an hour, get a great meal, and brend even gave us an iced tea cup to go. Pricing for the two of us averaged about $30 per person including tip, tax and drinks. Apparently we visited St Augustine during hell week (as the locals called it) and I understand why. There were so many people in the area that finding a place to eat was insane. We put our name on a list around 7pm and hovered around the bar until someone left to snag a seat in 30 minutes. Despite how busy the place was, the staff was excellent. One person came outside and offered some water bowls to a couple with three dogs and a long wait. Our interaction was mostly with the bartenders and they were great. They were taking orders from all directions, got them correct, and were still chatty and welcoming. Food was good. I chose the fried shrimp. A bit too much batter but it was served nice and hot and the cocktail sauce was good. Fries were crispy. There was both indoor and outdoor seating. They had a very nice patio overlooking the water. Ohh what can I say about O.C White other than that they are Amazing. My wife and I have been coming here for years and love the place and the service. This time around with our toddler and new born was a bit different but we got to try the outdoor patio and even tho it was chilly they had heaters on so that worked out. They have live music playing and it wasn't that loud that we had to move or anything , and it was great music I had an Old Fashioned and it was great , as well as the St Augustine sangria, can't go wrong with white or red , both are amazing. We ordered a kids pasta with chicken and were not impressed as it barely had marinara on it so you are basically paying $15 for plain pasta with chicken. The blue crab cake as an appetizer was outstanding but it's just one cake and not two, hint.... Hahaha Shrimp and Grits for me and Lemon Rosemary chicken for the wifey both were amazing. Side note... while they can sit you and the little kids upstairs, you have to either leave the stroller downstairs or get ready to fold it and move it upstairs where is really tight, so the outside patio is your best option. read more

The patio was half full but they refused to sit us outside. It was overcast so we weren't too discouraged. They sat us upstairs at 728P on a Friday. We didn't get our entrees until 832P. Waiting over an hour for entrees when didn't order appetizers and the dining room is half empty is absurd. If we weren't so hungry we would have got up and left around 8P. read more
