A Christmas Day with a View to Remember - for sure... My son now lives in Jacksonville, Florida, and for Christmas Day he wanted to do something fun and festive. After searching around, he snagged a reservation at St. George in St. Augustine, right across from the fort--and honestly, that alone set the stage for a special evening. St. Augustine was packed (as expected for Christmas and Nights of Lights), and the restaurant itself is on the cozy side. There are only a few tables downstairs, which also houses the kitchen and bar, while the main dining area is upstairs along with a balcony. We truly lucked out because we landed what felt like the best table in the house--right in the center of the upstairs balcony, overlooking the fort and the Christmas trolleys rolling by for the Night of Lights parade. That view absolutely made the night magical. Service-wise, our waitress was incredibly kind and welcoming--lots of smiles and great energy. That said, some of the banter felt a bit overdone. For example, we were told there were over 600 reservations that day, which felt a little hard to believe given the restaurant size and table turnover. Still, we did feel lucky to be there, especially on such a busy holiday. Food and drinks were good, though not necessarily standout for the price point. Wine pours and menu pricing were fair, but not what I'd typically expect for a really great glass of wine or a beautifully plated meal. However--the absolute highlight of the night was the prime rib. They had just made a fresh batch, and you could tell. The cut was massive, incredibly fresh, and honestly large enough to share between the three of us, which worked perfectly since we weren't super hungry. We shared an appetizer, enjoyed the prime rib, had a couple glasses of wine, and called it a night--simple and satisfying. Overall, I'd rate this experience between a 3.5 and 4, but I'm giving it a solid 4 stars because it was Christmas Day, incredibly busy, and the staff handled it all with great attitudes and smiles. Would I return? That's still up in the air. It feels a bit pricey for what you get, and I might explore other options next time--but hey, it is St. Augustine. My girlfriend made reservations two weeks ago for Christmas Eve. Two days before the reservation, they called and required a $50 deposit. Which is find as it a holiday, however, after we paid the reservation they contacted us 4 more times to confirm we were still attending. This was super annoying. I am very picky eater, but I was really excited about getting the cauliflower steak. When we showed up, we were advised that there was a holiday menu. There was no mention of this on their website at booking time or in the FIVE TIMES they contacted us. My girlfriend was really looking forward to a seafood option and they didn't have it either. I had to get a plan salad without any protein, even after the waiter asked if I wanted protein on it and I advised I would like chicken. Also when we were seated, we were seated at tiny high top table in the bar area, even though we made reservations in the dining and there were four empty two person tables. We had to sit next to the blender all night and it was loud. The food was average, but the place was so disorganized it ruined dinner. Would avoid!!! I had never been to Sainte - George but when someone wants to get brunch I am always in. We made a reservation for the balcony for 4 people. We arrived and were quickly taken to our table. The inside is very nice but the balcony is for your where it's at. Just amazing views. Probably one of the best in Downtown St Augustine. We looked over the menu and I will say both food and drinks were more on the pricy side but nothing crazy. None of their cocktails were calling my name so I went with a glass (or 2) of the Riesling for $10. The menu had a lot that sounded good: Mains, Handhelds, and of course Breakfast options. Our waitress was very helpful going over the options and what was good. I of course ended up on one of my brunch classics, Shrimp and Grits. Our food came out after 15 minutes after ordering. I will say this was were things were lacking. The Shrimp & Grits was just kind of bland. It was stated that the shrimp were blackened which they had some seasoning but still didn't give them the flavor it needed. The Andouille Sausage seemed like your typical Hillshire Farms and didn't help with more flavor either. I will say the shrimp were cooked perfectly which for sure saved the dish. WHAT AN UNEXPECTED GEM! Best grouper we have ever had-- I mean it. Also, the rice. Yes I know, rice shouldn't be such a superstar, but I'm pretty sure there is some voodoo in this rice. Insanely good. Also the empanadas! ‍ seriously-- crisp and flavorful and delish. Tostones that rival any I've had in Miami. This meal was such an unexpected gem! They say they have the best view in St A and they were right. If you can get a spot, that balcony view is gorgeous. Service was sweet and attentive. Location was great. We stopped by to had some dinner on a busy Saturday. Place looked nice and we decided to sit outdoors. Food was good. We had some salmon and Risotto. Maybe both a little on the oily side? But they tasted good. Ambiance was good with lovely music in the background. Service started good but went downhill. We didn't have utensils and napkins or water refills, when our food came. Manager offered us free dessert or drinks for the oversight. We didn't want any that night, so I guess is good that management wanted to apologize. We kept having not too great of a service during the night. The idea is amazing, but the food and service was mediocre at best. Not many people in for Mother's Day and yet we still had issues. Then when we got the food the steaks tasted like they were parboiled and thrown in a flame. No taste and 49 dollars each to boot. And they did not have e tea. Hello we are in Florida. Service and atmosphere were fantastic! Our server (I believe his name was Caleb) was so friendly and helpful. He helped us narrow down what we should eat a few times! I ended up ordering the bacon, egg and chorizo waffle sandwich. It was good but I wish it had felt a little more up scale. A Disappointing Valentine's Day Experience I always try to give a restaurant some grace on Valentine's Day, knowing it can be one of the most challenging nights of the year for service staff. However, our experience at Sainte-George Restaurant in St. Augustine left us unimpressed--not because of the holiday rush, but due to poor coordination and disappointing hospitality. The Good: Let's start with the positives. The food itself was solid. I had the filet mignon, which was decent--nothing spectacular, but well-prepared and served with carrots and potatoes. While the price wasn't the best value, it was reasonable given the setting. Naomi, the bartender, was the highlight of the night. She was friendly, efficient, and handled our order with professionalism. The Issues: We had a 5:30 PM reservation and were promptly seated on the outdoor patio. Normally, this would be a pleasant setting, but at 60° with wind, it was far from comfortable. Our hostess mentioned she would bring water and be right back, yet 10 minutes passed with no service--no water, no server, nothing. Realizing it would be too chilly to enjoy the meal, I went inside to ask if we could be moved. I was told there were no available seats inside, but we could sit at the bar itself--not at the bar-side tables, as those were "reserved." We opted for the bar, making the best of an uncomfortable situation. Then came the frustrating part. Throughout our meal, we watched multiple walk-in customers--without reservations--get seated at the very bar-side tables we were told were unavailable. Even more frustrating, two couples who sat at these tables quickly left after seeing the limited menu or high prices. It was disappointing to see tourists given preferential treatment over a couple with a reservation. Final Thoughts: For a $90 per person experience, we expected a more seamless and professional dining experience. Instead, we encountered disorganization, poor communication, and an arbitrary seating policy that seemed to prioritize walk-ins over reservations. While we are locals and always on the lookout for great restaurants in St. Augustine, we won't be returning to Sainte-George. The area is filled with fantastic dining options that offer both better service and a stronger value for the price. If you're visiting and looking for a memorable meal, I'd recommend exploring elsewhere. read more

Four stars for the ambience! The service wasn't that great and we're a little disappointed that our drinks weren't refilled. It took quite a while for someone to come by to take any orders, but she tried to rush the kids meals. I think the waitress tried her best but she never really came around. The restaurant is quaint and beautifully decorated for the holidays. The food was portioned pretty small but it was good. The bar is pretty upstairs as well but the restroom needed a little TLC. I like the location though, easy to get to if you're already on St. George street. Try it if you're in the area though if you want a nice meal. read more

I thought I had left a review for this place when we had dinner but I don't see one so let's drop on for brunch. First off the upstairs and outside seating is awesome. Really great view. Plenty of open seats but it is a Friday at lunch time. Great sounding choices. Got a bowl of the mushroom soup. Pretty tasty but it didn't knock my socks off. Missing something. For main we had the Thai noodle salad. It was ok but like the soup it seemed to need a little something more. Maybe more sauce. Over pretty good food with great views. I've had a couple of nice lunches here. Great view for photos. The Po' Boy and avocado toast are OK. The toast was a little soggy. The wedge salad and soup of the day were good. Got a side of dirty rice and beans. A little too salty. Fried plantains were delicious. Service was pretty good. We were the only people there both times. Sitting outside is nice in warmer weather, but you can get some brisk wind in the colder months. read more

I made a reservation about three weeks in advance for Valentine's Day. We arrived a few minutes before our scheduled time and were seated at an outdoor table on their upstairs balcony. After we were seated, no waiter came around for about ten minutes. It was a cold and windy night so my husband went down to the hostess and asked if we could move down to the bar area instead. She said yes, but only to be seated at the bar and not a table. We were so hungry that we agreed to sit at the bar. While we ate our dinner at the bar, we saw other diners come in with no reservations and get a table in the bar area. Poor customer service from both the hostess as well as the upstairs waiter. We went here in 2022 and it was DELICIOUS. We should have kept the memory and gone somewhere else because it was lacking this time. Although the service was lovely, the food was sad, and there was little decor. Maybe remodeling? The focaccia bread appetizer came with three meager and somewhat stale pieces with a whopping heap of whipped ricotta. The cornbread was yummy but came plain with no honey butter. The pork chop was not breaded, had no sauce, and was dry, and the plate had an overwhelming amount of bean succotash as a side. The salad was underdressed, and when asked for more dressing, the waitress brought out soy sauce and vinaigrette and said to mix them. The vegetable ricotta was mushy and bland. The steak filet was the only good dish with sauce and creamy potatoes and green beans only slightly overcooked. The drinks were weak and tiny. The waitress was super friendly and the manager was nice too, checking in on us. They have me a birthday chocolate lava cake thing for my birthday and it was very good, and thoughtful. So sad this was out experience because last time we came I took pics and was so happy. This time will be our last. Not sure if we got a new chef or what, but not a pleasant time. read more

The shrimp and grits were one of the blandest meals I think I've ever had (although the shrimp were cooked perfectly). Went today for the happy hour menu and could not have been more disappointed. We ordered mojitos, which were fine but nothing special, and nachos. The nachos were absolutely horrible - plastic cheese like the movies and stale chips. We could not believe that any decent restaurant would serve them. Both the beef Wellington and the Bronzino fillet were mediocre at best service while attentive did not go out of their way to do anything special even though it was a anniversary/birthday celebration and they seem to continually bug you leading up to the serving time if you're going to show up, I received no less than six texts and several phone calls making sure I show up. I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the experience my family and I had at your St. George Street location. What should have been a pleasant dining experience turned into an extremely stressful and disappointing situation due to the unprofessional conduct of the manager on duty, Ms. Kale. Upon arrival, my family and I were instructed to wait outside, which we did patiently for nearly an hour. Despite this long wait, we were then seated in an extremely crowded area with no regard for comfort, space, or safety. This lack of organization created significant stress for us, especially given my current recovery from a broken femur and hip. Additionally, my elderly mother, who flew from another country to visit us, and my four children -- including one with special needs -- were placed in an environment that was unnecessarily overwhelming and preventable with proper management. What made the situation far worse, however, was the behavior of Ms. Kale. When we voiced our concerns politely, she responded with unacceptable rudeness. Instead of offering a professional apology or attempting to correct the situation, she dismissed our concerns and even laughed in our faces. This reaction was not only unprofessional but deeply disrespectful. It reflected a complete lack of leadership, empathy, and customer-care standards. It is clear that this location is focused on bringing in as many guests as possible for profit, yet management is failing to properly coordinate seating, resulting in overcrowding and poor guest experiences. A manager's role is to ensure smooth operations and address issues respectfully -- something that was clearly lacking under Ms. Kale's supervision. I hope that this complaint is taken seriously, as no family should be treated in this manner. I request that appropriate action be taken to address the behavior of the manager and to improve the overall management practices at this location. Thank you for your attention. My pork chop was excellent. The cornbread stupendous. The empanadas tasty but too much for one person. The Cioppino was good. Our server was very nice and efficient given the level of dysfunction surrounding us. It was busy given the two-day concert event, and the space, while quite comfy is a staff killer. Kitchen is downstairs - as was the destination for all bussing. As we were seated at the turn at stair top, everything went by us in both directions. The food runner had no idea where to bring multiple dishes, the single bartender was overwhelmed, and servers literally ran through the room to get back downstairs . Wine list short, somewhat commercial and and a bit pricey. Given the breadth and quality of the food this could use improvement to match. read more

Disaster of a Valentine's Day I am beyond disappointed with my experience at Saint George Restaurant. Despite having a 7:15 PM reservation for Valentine's Day, we arrived to find their systems down and the staff managing seating on a first come, first serve basis for everyone waiting in the cold. While we were seated on time, the experience plummeted from there. We were placed at a corner table with a couch so low it was impossible to eat from. I eventually had to physically move our table and take chairs from a vacated spot just to sit at a normal height. It took 20 minutes just to receive water, and we were forced to order everything at once due to the obvious service delays. The food was the biggest letdown. My girlfriend's lobster risotto was extremely dry. I ordered the Beef Wellington, which the menu states is cooked medium to medium rare. I requested medium, but it arrived with raw pastry dough and a steak that was very rare. When our server finally showed up and asked how things were, I didn't even have to say a word. He looked at my untouched Beef Wellington, cut in half, and could see for himself how undercooked it was. By this point, my girlfriend had finished 90% of her meal. Since it was already after 9:15 PM, I declined a remake because I wasn't going to sit there eating alone while she was done. Despite the server seeing the inedible food, the restaurant offered absolutely nothing to compensate. They didn't even take the raw Wellington off the check. We paid $180 for a disaster, and I am now forced to reach out to my credit card company to dispute the charges. I will not be returning. read more

Very disappointed. We selected this restaurant over 10 months ago for a wedding rehearsal lunch the day before our son's wedding. Spoke with 3 different managers during that time which was concerning. Considering we have 40 guests attending, my concern was if the kitchen could handle such a party at one time. They reassured us multiple times they could. I even offered to have a set menu to make it easier, and they insisted it was fine. About 1 month before the lunch we received copies of their latest menu which we agreed was fine and the food selections were great. We got there right on time only to find the room was not ready at all. They knew we were coming and not ready. Upon arrival into the room, the menu given to us on site was not even close to what we were shown which several new and more expensive food options. We were told by management that they just got another new chef last week and the menu changed yesterday. Hmm... Once seated it took almost 20 minutes to finally get drinks ordered. Placing orders for food took another 30 minutes. During which time drinks were missing. Lots of apologies from the slow start. One & a half hours after we arrived, about 2/3 of our guests were served and almost done eating while the rest still had no food. Ironically the last person to get served was me (the host) which at that point I only wanted our guests to get their food that was clearly missing from the order. Management did comp a reasonable portion of the bill as an apology while owners hid from our room even though I asked to speak to them. Anyway... I'm sure the place is fine if you're a party of 4 or less, but will 100% not recommend for parties and personally will never return. We went out for my wife's birthday. We figured it was cold out and the restaurants would not be so busy tonight in Saint Augustine. We chose Sainte George restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised at not only the food but the service. We had two servers Cathy and Sandy who was training. Both paid special attention to our needs and returned to ask how we were enjoying our meals. The restaurant was relaxed and had a great vibe! The table had an adjustable light that you could dim or make brighter. They played slow jazz like music from Gene Ammons. The mood was relaxing. We started out with a cocktail a dirty martini with stuffed blue cheese olives. We both had the chef soup mushrooms with potatoes perfect for the weather and a great start for the evening. I ordered the short rib stroganoff which was delicious and my wife ordered the slow braised short ribs. Both were filling and delicious. We paired it with a bottle of La Crema Pinot Noir. We finished the night with two cappuccinos and a seven layer ganache cake. What a wonderful experience, we'll be back again. The scenery was gorgeous and service was great. However, the prices do not match quality. The tuna appetizer was a bit tough. Our drinks were good, but small. The pork chop was fair and had an interesting apple glaze. The mushroom risotto was delicious. It was a fancy birthday dinner, and even though we put in the reservation it was a birthday and told the staff, it was not acknowledged. Even though we did not have reservations, place was empty and the waitress didn't even offer to put us on the list. We came here when visiting for the night of lights! The restaurant had decent reviews so we were really excited to give it a try! Upon arriving we were promptly seated outside on the balcony. The night we dined the average temperature was about 35-40 out. While they had heaters, the one closest to our table wasn't working. We had asked about the heater and if could be turned on, or if there was an alternative solution as it was very chilly out. The only option we were given were blankets, which while we were very thankful for, we noticed other guests were moved inside when they asked about the heating situation. Even with the blankets we were still pretty cold! The service was okay. I think our server was new, but she was not around very often, and not very attentive. The food was the true star, as it was so incredibly good! Everything we had was so good, and very fair portions for the price. Overall I think if the weather were nicer, or we were presented with a better solution for the lack of heat I think it would have been a better experience. Would rate a negative number of stars if possible. 7 year resident of St Augustine FL who usually goes to Collage for special occasions but my boyfriend and I decided to mix it up and try Sainte George restaurant for valentines. Booked a 9pm reservation. They required a non-refundable $50 deposit which they stated would be removed from the bill. We were seated and approached by our waiter in a reasonable amount of time. Waiter did not introduce himself, took our drink order and informed us that they were out everything "cow". Upon his returning with our drinks, my boyfriend asked for more clarification on what specifically they were out of and then went down both the standard and specials menu line by line and the waiter responded to every item that had any beef (steak, beef Wellington...) except short ribs that they were out of. My boyfriend stated very calmly, respectfully and kindly as not believing it was the waiters fault, that he was surprised being the restaurant would've known the number of people coming in as they took reservations and that those who made reservations would definitely show up since required to pay $50 deposit (this will come up again later). We said we would need few more minutes to make decision on ordering as my boyfriend was looking forward to ordering a steak all day. When waiter returned to take our order he informed us that "he found one 6 oz fillet left so if you order mor now you can have it". We hurried and ordered it and my meal so as not to miss out on it. My boyfriend inquired as to what came with the filet and the waiter pointed to the item on the menu and replied "this" to which my boyfriend inquired about salads. The waiter discouraged our ordering salads as he stated "that's a lot of food". My boyfriend ended up not ordering salads but did order shrimp as a compliment to his meal. Note that in all our interactions with the waiter up to this point he never once asked if we may be interested in ordering an appetizer, etc. About 10 minutes after we placed our order another couple were seated at table next to ours. They were never informed that the restaurant was out of steaks and all things beef. Our food was delivered and it was missing the shrimp so my boyfriend inquired and was told he would bring it. No apology just a curt, "I'll get it". While we were eating the couple next to us received their meal and we were surprised to find they had steak. My boyfriend's shrimp did not arrive until we were both basically done with our meals so he politely declined it at that point. Next interaction was asking whether they had desert menu to which waiter said "no, but I can tell you what we have". My boyfriend ordered tiramisu and I the chocolate mousse. A runner delivered our desserts and had a chocolate cake for me to which I mentioned that I had ordered the mousse. He looked at the cake and said, this is it and I responded that no that wasn't mousse. He left and our waiter brought me my mousse many later with no apology or somewher acknowledgement...just dropped it on my table. The table next to us didn't get dessert so got their bill before us and noticed that the $50 was not deducted so had to ask waiter about it. Waiter had that fixed and brought us our bill which likewise we had to ask to have the $50 deposit deducted. In my entire life eating from the finest Michelin rated restaurants to whole in the wall establishments and everything in between I have never asked to speak to a manager but we did this time. Besides all of what I mentioned our waiter was downright impersonal, bordering rude, the entire evening. We asked the manager how the restaurant could've been out of all things "cow" to which he was shocked and stated they weren't. The waiter lied and said "I said we were out of a few things, not everything". I can with 100 certainty tell you he specifically said "out of all things cow" and even went line by line down menu. The waiter went on further to say that it was not his responsibility to ask us if we had put down a deposit and that if we had it was our responsibility to tell him when he delivered the check. Further he stated he had 8-12 tables all night and the majority hasn't paid a deposit. Although I can't confirm this to be a lie, it's begs the question that perhaps they had but didn't realize it wasn't deducted off bill or they weren't aware they were actually charged the $50 in advance. I know this is a lengthy review and in rereading it, it doesn't even fully describe the lengths to which the service was absolutely astonishingly horrible but I hope that anyone who were there on valentines made sure their $50 was deducted and I hope no one ever has to experience such poor service there. Busy restaurant in historic St. Augustine. Reservations recommended, but even then we had to wait about a half hour. They do have a cute bar upstairs to grab a drink while you wait. We ordered the short rib empanadas to start and they were really good and there were plentt to share. I ordered the stuffed chicken with polenta- the stuffed chicken was flavorful and cripsy, but the polenta and sauce was a little bland. Super busy restaurant so just expect to wait a bit for your table and food, but the restaurant is in a great location. read more

We had an awesome lunch here today. I think you can truly tell a place has amazing food when you get a salad that knocks yours socks off. That was the case here. I highly recommend the harvest salad with shrimp. Perfect! My husband enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich and said it was one of the best he's ever had. Location/decor is beautiful and we had wonderful service. The bartender was awesome. 0/10. Worst service I have ever received. Let's start at the beginning. We walked in and there was only a few tables occupied. We ordered a round of drinks and it took 45 minutes to receive them. 45 min are you kidding? It was dead in there! The drinks we did get were burned. Absolutely awful. When I went to the bartender to have something remade she had the worst attitude and was v snarky. Girl find a new calling because making drinks clearly isn't working for you. Also they were out of everything on the menu. Nothing was updated? Every table around us either canceled their order or had to get something comped. Saint George you should probably look for all new staff including the manager. read more

We chose St. George Restaurant for the opening night of Nights of Lights, and it turned into one of the most extraordinary dining experiences we've ever had. We were fortunate enough to secure a balcony reservation -- which is no easy task -- and the view was absolutely magical. Looking out over downtown St. Augustine as the lights came alive felt straight out of a postcard. St. George recently brought on a new chef, Abraham Vargas, and his talent is undeniable. The entire meal had that beautiful European/Mediterranean pacing -- intentional, relaxed, and meant to be savored. A huge part of what made the night so special were the people. José, the owner, was incredibly kind and attentive. He checked on us throughout the evening with genuine warmth. He truly understands hospitality and embodies it with every interaction. And then there was Harry, our server. For such a young man, his passion for his profession is remarkable. He knew the menu, anticipated our needs, and brought a level of care that elevated the entire night. He also turned out to be an amazing photographer, making sure we got the perfect balcony shot with the Nights of Lights sparkling behind us -- a memory we'll keep forever. For dinner, we ordered the charcuterie board, the Beef Wellington, and finished with the crème brûlée. Every dish was flawless -- beautifully presented, flavorful, and thoughtfully crafted. Between the magical balcony views, the opening-night energy, Chef Vargas' incredible menu, José's heartfelt hospitality, and Harry's outstanding service, this was a night we will never forget. Frightening review of St George Inn Restaurant Got the wrong table to start and were told we had requested it. We didn't. The system apparently decides you will sit at the bar. Finally got a table with broken chairs so we couldn't sit there even if we wanted to. Wanted water but three times received sparkling water. Waiting 1 1-2 hours and still no food anywhere near our table. Food finally came and steak was raw, sandwich was cold and fries were cold too. Manager could not keep up with complaints. People walked out demanding refund for table hold. Hostess went to lunch and no one covered front desk Those that did eat walked out frustrated and told those coming in "Good luck". Will never ever ever come back. read more

Food took an hour - we were the only ones in the restaurant until after our food arrived, when other patrons came in. Kitchen ignored special requests and delivered burger with everything including LTO, pickles, bacon and mayo on a very burned bun - we asked for a plain cheeseburger just meat & cheese on bun (for child). Eggs Benedict was ok, nothing special. Salad was ok, chicken was good, but other salad toppings were extremely sparse. Restaurant was pretty upstairs with view and server was kind & apologetic, but without decent food, we won't return. read more

Came for brunch with a large party. No splitting checks. One bathroom stall upstairs and there was a line the whole time. Server was attentive but food was expensive for a brunch meal. read more
