We chose St. George Restaurant for the opening night of Nights of Lights, and it turned into one of the most extraordinary dining experiences we've ever had. We were fortunate enough to secure a balcony reservation -- which is no easy task -- and the view was absolutely magical. Looking out over downtown St. Augustine as the lights came alive felt straight out of a postcard. St. George recently brought on a new chef, Abraham Vargas, and his talent is undeniable. The entire meal had that beautiful European/Mediterranean pacing -- intentional, relaxed, and meant to be savored. A huge part of what made the night so special were the people. José, the owner, was incredibly kind and attentive. He checked on us throughout the evening with genuine warmth. He truly understands hospitality and embodies it with every interaction. And then there was Harry, our server. For such a young man, his passion for his profession is remarkable. He knew the menu, anticipated our needs, and brought a level of care that elevated the entire night. He also turned out to be an amazing photographer, making sure we got the perfect balcony shot with the Nights of Lights sparkling behind us -- a memory we'll keep forever. For dinner, we ordered the charcuterie board, the Beef Wellington, and finished with the crème brûlée. Every dish was flawless -- beautifully presented, flavorful, and thoughtfully crafted. They were friendly and attentive. Five stars for service. Food: We both ordered the Crab Cake BLT ($19) on the brunch menu which was disappointing and fishy. This is the reason for three stars. It didn't taste like traditional crab cakes, but I can't explain why. It's served open-face. We both wished we ordered something else. It also doesn't come with fries whereas the other sandwiches do. Frightening review of St George Inn Restaurant Got the wrong table to start and were told we had requested it. We didn't. The system apparently decides you will sit at the bar. Finally got a table with broken chairs so we couldn't sit there even if we wanted to. Wanted water but three times received sparkling water. Waiting 1 1-2 hours and still no food anywhere near our table. Food finally came and steak was raw, sandwich was cold and fries were cold too. Manager could not keep up with complaints. From the reviews, I somewhat expected to regret my decision for choosing this place for Mother's Day dinner. Hostess were excellent in a rare sense. They were very polite and pleasant. I preferred to dress up for dinner and didn't seem out of place. Upstairs has a fine dining ambiance. Server gave great recommendations based on what I craved for the night. My cue to him was flavor, flavor, flavor and he understood the assignment by steering me towards flavorful options. Kitchen ignored special requests and delivered burger with everything including LTO, pickles, bacon and mayo on a very burned bun - we asked for a plain cheeseburger just meat & cheese on bun (for child). Exceptionally good food, atmosphere and service. I started with the tempura scallops and the hoisin like sauce, tempura texture and perfectly cooked scallops are to die for. The Thai basil was a very thoughtful herb to add with the edamame and toasted sesame seeds. For my entree, I got the short ribs, which were so tender you didn't need a knife. The thousand layer potatoes were super crispy and seasoned well. The bacon lardons with the fresh peas were a fantastic combination. Lastly, dessert was a flourless chocolate cake with berries and a crème anglaise. Delicious but I thought it could use more crème anglaise and/or whipped cream. I met up with my friends to go out dinner. This restaurant was recommended by one of my friends. I was skeptical as the menu had few options for pescatarians. Would rate a negative number of stars if possible. 7 year resident of St Augustine FL who usually goes to Collage for special occasions but my boyfriend and I decided to mix it up and try Sainte George restaurant for valentines. Booked a 9pm reservation. They required a non-refundable $50 deposit which they stated would be removed from the bill. We were seated and approached by our waiter in a reasonable amount of time. Waiter did not introduce himself, took our drink order and informed us that they were out everything "cow". Upon his returning with our drinks, my boyfriend asked for more clarification on what specifically they were out of and then went down both the standard and specials menu line by line and the waiter responded to every item that had any beef (steak, beef Wellington...) except short ribs that they were out of. My boyfriend stated very calmly, respectfully and kindly as not believing it was the waiters fault, that he was surprised being the restaurant would've known the number of people coming in as they took reservations and that those who made reservations would definitely show up since required to pay $50 deposit (this will come up again later). We said we would need few more minutes to make decision on ordering as my boyfriend was looking forward to ordering a steak all day. When waiter returned to take our order he informed us that "he found one 6 oz fillet left so if you order mor now you can have it". We hurried and ordered it and my meal so as not to miss out on it. My boyfriend inquired as to what came with the filet and the waiter pointed to the item on the menu and replied "this" to which my boyfriend inquired about salads. The waiter discouraged our ordering salads as he stated "that's a lot of food". My boyfriend ended up not ordering salads but did order shrimp as a compliment to his meal. Note that in all our interactions with the waiter up to this point he never once asked if we may be interested in ordering an appetizer, etc. About 10 minutes after we placed our order another couple were seated at table next to ours. They were never informed that the restaurant was out of steaks and all things beef. Our food was delivered and it was missing the shrimp so my boyfriend inquired and was told he would bring it. No apology just a curt, "I'll get it". While we were eating the couple next to us received their meal and we were surprised to find they had steak. My boyfriend's shrimp did not arrive until we were both basically done with our meals so he politely declined it at that point. Next interaction was asking whether they had desert menu to which waiter said "no, but I can tell you what we have". My boyfriend ordered tiramisu and I the chocolate mousse. A runner delivered our desserts and had a chocolate cake for me to which I mentioned that I had ordered the mousse. He looked at the cake and said, this is it and I responded that no that wasn't mousse. He left and our waiter brought me my mousse many later with no apology or somewher acknowledgement...just dropped it on my table. The table next to us didn't get dessert so got their bill before us and noticed that the $50 was not deducted so had to ask waiter about it. Waiter had that fixed and brought us our bill which likewise we had to ask to have the $50 deposit deducted. In my entire life eating from the finest Michelin rated restaurants to whole in the wall establishments and everything in between I have never asked to speak to a manager but we did this time. Besides all of what I mentioned our waiter was downright impersonal, bordering rude, the entire evening. We asked the manager how the restaurant could've been out of all things "cow" to which he was shocked and stated they weren't. The waiter lied and said "I said we were out of a few things, not everything". I can with 100 certainty tell you he specifically said "out of all things cow" and even went line by line down menu. The waiter went on further to say that it was not his responsibility to ask us if we had put down a deposit and that if we had it was our responsibility to tell him when he delivered the check. Further he stated he had 8-12 tables all night and the majority hasn't paid a deposit. Although I can't confirm this to be a lie, it's begs the question that perhaps they had but didn't realize it wasn't deducted off bill or they weren't aware they were actually charged the $50 in advance. I know this is a lengthy review and in rereading it, it doesn't even fully describe the lengths to which the service was absolutely astonishingly horrible but I hope that anyone who were there on valentines made sure their $50 was deducted and I hope no one ever has to experience such poor service there. The food was good, but didn't blow me away. Short rib (4/5) - the meat was super tender and tore apart effortlessness. I'm not sure what all the hype was about the peas. They were fine. I didn't realize the thousand layer potato was fried, I try to stay away from fried foods. All of three worked nicely together, but I wanted my taste buds to sing with praise instead it was like...ok, cool, thanks for feeding me. Lol Chicken marsala was also good, but not great. It was what you would expect from a restaurant. If you want good restaurant food, this place is cool, but I like innovative, bold, and/or really delicious flavors and this place just missed the mark for me. We had reservations and were seated upon arrival. The upstairs was a little stuffy/hot. It was 60s outside. The service was a pinch slow but the ambiance was really cute and intimate. Perfect date night spot. My husband ordered the pork chop and it was amazing. It was the best pork chop either of us had ever eaten. I ordered the risotto and it was good but didn't knock my socks off. The risotto did pair well with the pork chop. We also had a side of mashed sweet potatoes that were not my favorite. A great restaurant right in front of the old city gates. They have a really wonderful outdoor area and the choices for drinks is quite extensive. We had charcuterie board and squash soup ( both exceptional) as a late lunch with 3:00 reservations. Here's where it gets weird.. We were the ONLY table seated at the time, yet they stuck us at the top of the stairs far from any view. I literally had to ask and they moved us one table over. Since there was NOBODY outside and we were only ordering snacks we asked to maybe go outside (we reserved inside as it was supposed to be quite chilly) and were told they were fully booked. Mind you the restaurant has NO HOURS blocked out for reset to evening food. I was kind of boggled, but I don't work in the restaurant/food service industry, so maybe I am not understanding. Sainte-George Restaraunt - where have you been? OMG found this dining spot online a couple of weeks ago and was amazed I'd never paid them a visit. That all changed last week when my wife and I wandered the streets of St Auggie to find them at the beginning of St George Street. Literally at the beginning - 1 St George Street to be specific. I dined on the amazing stuffed chicken entree while my wife sampled the pan seared salmon. Both were delicious That was followed by the seasonal chefs desert of (a heap of) freshly sliced peaches served on top of a really great tasting thinly sliced cake. AMAZING place that you have to try. The stroll down St George Street is worth the effort. Clearly now one of my favorite places to dine in this wonderful historic city! read more

We arrived on time for our 6:30 reservation. There was no hostess to seat us (or anyone else). 10 minutes later, she seated us at dirty table, left no menus or silverware, and disappeared. We were finally greeted by a server 15 minutes after we were seated, who promptly disappeared to get menus and silverware for us (another 10 minutes). Turns out she's also the bartender (and assistant manager). When we finally ordered, food came out. We had the empanada appetizer (fried and greasy), a Cesar salad (tiny, and $16). I ordered a bottle of malbec, which they were our of. Then I ordered a glass of merlot, which came out after our entrees. My entrees was actually pretty good (shortrib), but my wife's salmon was so salty it was inedible. I asked for the hostess to get our server, a manager, or the owner. Nobody ever came, so I went to the bar to flag down our server, who looked like she was ready to have a breakdown. That's how I found out she was the assistant manager. They made it right by taking my wife's meal off the check. During our meal, so many people walked out because they never got seated, even though they had reservations. The owner never came out, but I advised the assistant manager that if they plan to stay open, they need staff, service, and accommodation. If you plan to go, bring your patience. read more

This restaurant was a great surprise on our Florida trip . Located in the Main Street , the place is very pretty inside and we had the pleasure to seat at the balcony overlooking the street. The service was excellent, our server was a little bit overwhelmed but she was very nice and welcoming. The food was amazing , everything was very well presented, and delicious . The ribs were cooked to perfection. I'm a rib lover and no doubt, this one was one of the best ribs I have ever had. ( well after my partner's ribs ) The filet was also great, tender and tasty. Drinks and all the sides dishes were also very good. Only down side is that I order an appetizer that later was one of the side dishes too. Do not get me wrong , it was very good, but I think they should have at least alert me about it, and I would try a different option. This place is clearly a tourist trap-rip off. DON"T GO THERE! My husband made a reservation here for my son's 20th birthday on Nov. 24th and we were a party of 6. Upon arrival they placed a "happy birthday" card on the table. The ambiance was nice, decor nice, location great. However the food quality was poor for the prices we paid. This restaurant obviously needs better management. They were out of: Beef Wellington, Potatoes Au Gratin and one other item, I forgot. My son asked to get the Tomahawk Steak and Shrimp which was $250 for two and included salads, sides, and dessert. I shared it with him. We ordered several appetizers: focaccia, charcuterie board and calamiri. The first two were good but the calamari was undercooked and overly flourly. My husband and daughter ordered crabcakes which were microscopic sided and left them hungry. My other daughter ordered pork chops and they were dry and tough. She complained and they brought her something else which was better. When they brought out the Tomahawk Steak for me and my son, the cook forgot the shrimp. I asked, "what happened to the shrimp?" and the waiter quickly scrambled to go have the cook prepare. The steak presentation was nice and it was cooked medium rare as we requested. However it was extremely tough like a cheaper cut of meat. For the price of $250 we could have ordered a better cut like filet mignon at another restauarant. Everyone else at our table was finished eating before my son and me. It took us so long to chew the tough chewy steak, especially my son who was looking forward to a treat on his birthday. When we finally finished we were expecting for desert the waiter to bring out a lit candle and so we could sing happy birthday. They said they didn't even have CANDLES! UNBELIEVABLE! Although the waiter and bartender were very attentive and accommodating, I think the restaurant was mismanaged and the food quality was poor. The experience was extremely disappointing. We would never go back there. For the amount of the bill we paid we could have gone to Ruth Chris or another nice steakhouse and gotten a quality meal. read more

We enjoyed brunch and overall it was a great experience! The service was outstanding. Our server went above and beyond expectations. The food was almost perfect. We had the charcuterie, which held a very nice assortment of goodies from meat to cheeses to honeycomb and more. The baguette was hot and delicious. You can have it with butter, dipping oil, or both. Dishes ranged from mushroom soup with the specialty beet salad with salmon add on to poke bowls to a traditional breakfast. We added an order of the short rib hash and the french onion soup. Drinks were lattes and coffee which were excellent. Oat milk and almond milk are available. Regrettably, the cold brew was not. The French onion soup was a little off the traditional path but very rich and very tasty. I believe the difference is the star anise. Definitely worth a try. The mushroom soup was outstanding, a must have. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. My only complaint about the food is the egg dish and the short rib hash had slightly too much salt, but not where it was inedible. My preference is to have the dishes undersalted rather than over, and then I can add more to taste. The portions for the charcuterie could have been a little bit larger for the price, but this is understandable with an upscale dining experience and the variety certainly made up for it. Ambiance was wonderful, a lovely restaurant, and next time we need to try sitting on the outside deck on the second floor. Note there is a small service charge for the kitchen you can ask to have removed if you're so inclined. I would have preferred for this to be mentioned when orders were taken rather than discovering it on the bill and then seeing a sign next to the bathroom door after the meal, but I don't have any issues with paying it. We found our way to the upstairs bar at Sainte-George after a horrible experience at a near by "martini" bar. We did not eat here and can only speak about the craft cocktails and service. The craft cocktails were unique and crazy delicious. The service was outstanding! The bartenders/servers were fun and engaging. Loved them all! I had the Pan Seared Scallops which were perfectly seared without being over cooked, which can be hard to do. The dessert was phenomenal too, a peach shortcake that was out of this world. The view is spectacular, and the modern decor is exquisite. The lobster corndogs are a must try appetizer. (The mustard sauce is my favorite.) Ok I must amend my review. Unfortunately, it's not for the better. I've learned that they are under new management which is fine, however the food is anything but fine. A $40 pork chop! Really? Sorry but I just can't. I've always ordered the tuna here and did again tonight. It was served with what o thought was a salad. What it looked like was a plate of ramen noodles with Thai peanut sauce or essentially peanut butter. With Seared tuna? Umm no...not great. Especially at $36. Best part of the meal was the Corona. We had a 6:30 reservation and though we were seated quickly it took over 30 minutes for us to receive menus or waters, and we had to go inside and find a manager and ask. When the food came out, the short rib stroganoff and filet minon, I kid you not, my husband and I almost laughed. The presentation left a lot to be desired, we felt we could have gotten a better steak at Outback for $15 vs the $50 steak we ate here. My girlfriends and I visited Sainte-George this past week to celebrate 2 birthday's. I arrived early and headed upstairs for a drink at the bar. The upstairs is small and very attractively decorated. The bar area is very small as well with about 6 seats available. My friends arrived and they seated us downstairs. There were 9 of us and I'm assuming this is the only option for a larger group. I would have give. This 5 stars but our seating was just awful. We were sat on couches that are extremely low, too deep for a meal, and very uncomfortable. I sat with my back to the front windows which meant my view was of the coke machine and partial wall that separates this area from the kitchen. We were all very uncomfortable. Again other than the awful seating this restaurant is divine. As for food I ordered the tuna sashimi, filet and molten lava cake. The tuna and steak were absolutely wonderful. I could have cut my steak with a knife. The cake was just okay. Not bad but not amazing. My friend had the French onion soup and for the price she wasn't impressed. Another friend had the lobster corn dogs and said she couldn't taste the lobster...just fried breading. Everyone else seemed very happy with everything they had. We saw her a lot as we were sitting near the front door. She made us laugh all night. Our server Jake was just wonderful. Came here for Father's Day. Was so disappointed about only sandwiches being offered. No healthy options. The restaurant is beautiful and the hostess was really nice. Unfortunately had to leave and find a more suitable Father's Day experience. read more

We were looking forward to trying their brunch and Bloody Mary's. We were incredibly disappointed with a burnt biscuit, watery Bloody Mary, and very high prices. We wondered why no one was there at noon on a Saturday but now understand. Service was fine and the restaurant was beautiful, but not worth the overpriced food. read more

Went here for a graduation dinner party. Staff and manager were very accommodating and friendly. The place is beautiful, cozy and elegant. The food though was a let down...I had asked for a medium steak and got well done so it was pretty hard to eat. Alcoholic drinks were a bit strong, I had ordered the lychee and it wasn't quite what I thought it was. In regards to the steak I was going to ask for it to be cooked again but the kitchen staff seemed short-handed and one of my friends who had been waiting for her meal that took forever so I didn't want to be an inconvenience. I'm glad I tried this place but truth be told I wouldn't go again. My recommendation is a 5/10 mostly because of the staff and manager. read more

As far as I know this is a new restaurant, and I usually have more grace and want places to succeed. The food was genuinely good, I ordered a tomahawk steak and I would get it again. But man can I tell you about the service. Most of my group waited very long for drinks, our server had an attitude when we asked for more water, there was no prompting from the server about how I wanted my steak cooked. You would think that is the bare minimum follow up question after ordering the most expensive item on the menu. After our meal all our entree plates were just left on the table. We asked our server to split the checks for our party and he clearly had an attitude to do that. We received Buffalo Wild Wings service at an expensive restaurant. It's unfortunate because a restaurant with great food and bad service is just an average restaurant. read more

We had an outstanding dinner, with innovative recipes, with a group of 8 friends from college. The service was attentive despite being a busy night. Among the favorites: seared wild salmon, harissa roasted vegetable platter, forbidden Togarashi spiced seared tuna, and pan seared scallops. Sainte-George has a kicking atmosphere. Where we were seated we enjoyed seeing the Halloween procession outside. All in all, an excellent dining experience. read more
