My girlfriends and I visited Sainte-George this past week to celebrate 2 birthday's. I arrived early and headed upstairs for a drink at the bar. The upstairs is small and very attractively decorated. The bar area is very small as well with about 6 seats available. My friends arrived and they seated us downstairs. There were 9 of us and I'm assuming this is the only option for a larger group. I would have give. This 5 stars but our seating was just awful. We were sat on couches that are extremely low, too deep for a meal, and very uncomfortable. I sat with my back to the front windows which meant my view was of the coke machine and partial wall that separates this area from the kitchen. We were all very uncomfortable. Again other than the awful seating this restaurant is divine. As for food I ordered the tuna sashimi, filet and molten lava cake. The tuna and steak were absolutely wonderful. I could have cut my steak with a knife. The cake was just okay. Not bad but not amazing. My friend had the French onion soup and for the price she wasn't impressed. Another friend had the lobster corn dogs and said she couldn't taste the lobster...just fried breading. Everyone else seemed very happy with everything they had. I would go back for 3 reasons and each of these gets my 5 stars: The steak (perfect) The hostess, Laura Our server, Jake Laura the hostess is absolutely fantastic. We had an outstanding dinner, with innovative recipes, with a group of 8 friends from college. The service was attentive despite being a busy night. Among the favorites: seared wild salmon, harissa roasted vegetable platter, forbidden Togarashi spiced seared tuna, and pan seared scallops. Sainte-George has a kicking atmosphere. Where we were seated we enjoyed seeing the Halloween procession outside. All in all, an excellent dining experience. read more

To preface the whole review, I went with my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday which I had notified the business when I made my reservation. Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess greeted us warmly and asked who's birthday it was. Great attention to detail! We got a bottle of wine and began our meal with the Hummus Trio. We thought it might need a little salt but it was still amazing, fresh and tasty. My girlfriend ordered a feta salad and I got a French onion soup and both of these small dishes were amazing. Easily two of the best things you can order. My girlfriend could not stop raving about the salad and the feta and grapes in her salad and how good it was together. For our mains I ordered the stuffed chicken and my girlfriend ordered the short rib. The short rib was phenomenal and fell apart on our forks. The chicken was sautéed to perfection and had perfect seasoning. It was absolutely delicious. As a treat our waitress, who was one of the nicest people we had experienced in all of St Augustine, told us we get a free dessert, so we got a pistachio mouse and blackberry tart that was insane. Yes, insane. I highly suggest you try it when you visit. All in all, this restaurant really treated us well. Everything was fresh and tasty. The ambience was classy and quiet. They renovated the space recently from a pizza place and just opened up. This was exactly what they needed to the start of downtown St Augustine!!! I have never experienced anything like this! I booked a 7 pm reservation online for this place in OCTOBER for Christmas Eve dinner. My family and I were traveling for Christmas and I wanted to get ahead of it knowing that many places would book quickly. The website made this place seem very nice and we were excited to have a nice meal together on Christmas Eve. I had email and text confirmation of my reservation for 7 pm. About a week before our reservation I called to see if there was anyway we could move the reservation to 5, but told the girl on the phone I understood if that was not possible and would gladly keep 7 if that was the case. She was nice, but seemed confused, almost like she couldn't find my reservation and asked to call me back. I never received a call back, but got a message on open table via my email a few hours later saying they could no longer accommodate my 7 pm reservation but that they could take us at 9. Very confused, I called. I was very kind and simply trying to confirm what time they had me down for, and the woman on the phone this time was so incredibly RUDE!! She didnt seem to care that I had made a reservation for 7 well in advance and literally said " I don't know what you want me to tell you, it's Christmas Eve and we're very busy". After some back and forth she finally moved my reservation to 9:30 so we could be accommodated. I didn't argue, I was just happy to have a place to eat on Christmas Eve and I thought maybe she was just having a bad day, knowing how tough working in hospitality can be this time of year. Once again, I received a text and email confirmation of our new reservation time. Christmas Eve comes and me and my family arrive promptly at 9:25 for our 9:30 reservation. There are a ton of other parties waiting outside. I go inside to try to check in and there is no one to be found at the front. Everyone seems confused. Finally the blonde hostess appears and very rudely tells everyone they need to go outside and she will get to us when she can. A person in front of me tried asking a server about his reservation and they very rudely replied " well we close at 10!" I go outside along with the other parties waiting, who all somehow had 9:30 reservations and were basically scolded to go wait outside. Finally the hostess comes out and very unapologetically tells us that she doesn't think we will all be able to be seated and that the online booking system doesn't talk to their computers?? What?!? At this point I'm so over it and decided that we didn't want to give a place that treats its patrons like this hundreds of dollars so we went back to our hotel and ordered pizza. Not the Christmas Eve dinner I wanted or planned for , but after seeing all the reviews of others who actually ate the food , it appears we made the right call. Wow how disappointing. 3 of us went there for Christmas eve dinner. When we sat down we were informed that there was a special holiday menu. Nowhere beforehand or on their website did they mention this! We were expecting to get beef wellinington & risotto so to find that out when sitting down was extremely disappointing. Our waiter said it was a last minute decision to go to the special menu We waited over 20min for our waiter to even come over. We ordered an appetizers & 2 meals. The waiter forgot to put in our appetizer, but at least he admitted it. My prime rib was incredibly undercooked so I sent it back. The ham special was cold & very dry. I never got my prime rib back either! But the waiter was sure fast to bring out our check! Oh and they added in a "large party gratuity" automatically for 20%! How is 3 people a large party?? And still $100 for 1 meal & 3 drinks! 3 tables near us all sent food back or said how bad it was! To top it all off, a manager came over to ask about our issues and was a total a-hole to us and took nothing off the bill. Piss-poor management & resolution You should be ashamed whoever works there. How can you last minute change the menu & not even advertise it? Just because of our experience we will never go back here. My husband and I dined there on 12/15/2024. Everything was wonderful. We had a beautiful table inside where we were able to see the Christmas lights. Our server Felicia, was very good at explaining the specials and offered great advice when I was torn between two entrees. She was very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. My husband ordered the Beef Wellington which he had been wanting to try for awhile. I chose the Porkchop, it was the best porkchop I had ever had and I would order that again even thought there are many other items that I would like to try on the menu. We had dinner reservations. When we got there the manager seemed flustered that he couldn't find a hostess. He eventually sat us himself all while complaining that "this is why he hired two". We sat down, I almost fell out of my chair because it was broken. We sat there for a few minutes waiting for our server. After 5 minutes, we started trying to flag someone down (including the manager). We continued to wait. Finally, after sitting at our table (with a broken chair) for 30 minutes and not a single person even attempting to check on us, we got up and walked out. While exiting the restaurant, the manager that sat us said "I hope everything was great" knowing damn well that we couldn't have gone through dinner in 30 minutes. Maybe his short term memory is just that bad. I looked at him and told him that we wouldn't know if anything was great because no one came to our table. In disbelief, he looked at us stuttering and we told him we will just go eat somewhere else. Needless to say, I can't speak for the food, but if you are seated by the manager (larger man with glasses) don't expect to see a server anytime soon. read more

The lobster corn dog and burger weren't quite as good as last time, but I'll probably still get both in the future. Maybe I'll try the burger well done instead of medium well next time. The fries with it were pretty good. My companion thought her cobia was decent, but still prefers salmon. We got an asparagus side, but it was too rich for me, with large chunks of bacon (?) in it. The dessert I love is actually called peach melba brown butter cake. It was still very good this time, but mostly for the cake part, which is amazing. I'll still get it every time I come here. Whoever owns this Restaurant clearly loves this place and takes pride in it. The dining room is small, but they made it look very elegant. Green velvet chairs for seating, gold flatware, smart use of wall space with beautiful artwork. The menu has variety, but it is not overwhelmingly expansive. Our appetizer was the charcuterie and i was pleased with the presentation and the cheese selection. I felt we got more than what we payed for and i am glad we ordered it. My husband ordered the short rib, I ordered the bucatini, and our young boys split the burger. The mains were all amazing-- even the burger. Our server Nick was beyond hospitable, and we loved him! Please pass the message to him. He helped shaped our perception of St. Augustine in such a positive way, we want to come back and dine at this Restaurant the next time we visit from Savannah. What a superb restaurant for an evening in historic St. Augustine! We had a balcony table overlooking the Castillo de San Marcos, perfect for a beautiful spring evening. We started with a round of cocktails, of which I enjoyed the Spicy Samurai, a fun drink that included sake and a bit of jalapeño. We shared the thousand layer potato and the tuna-beet sashimi. The thousand layer was a small exaggeration but we did marvel at the thin potato layers, however many there were. I had the short rib, and the meat was wonderfully flavored and juicy. The big hit at our table was the salmon and its golden curry sauce. That earned rave reviews! One of my friends also enjoyed the tuna dinner. The service was friendly, prompt and responsive. Overall, it was a great meal. The only actual downside of our evening was the traffic noise from the street, which can't be controlled. The restaurant has balcony tables facing the pedestrian street so we may opt for that next time. read more

Lobster corndogs: not greasy, but basically tasteless Mushroom soup: seemed to at least partly be made from rehydrated mushrooms that hadn't been fully rehydrated - basically tough and chewy FIlet Mignon: ordered Medium rare, basically came out rare (OK by me though) and was pretty decent, but the savory bread pudding was again basically tasteless Chocolate Fondue with seasonal fruit: came out with just bananas! (I don't eat them but my GF does so let it pass), and the pretzels were stale. A decent Old Fashioned and Sangria helped dull the pain though. This review is from our Babymoon back in December of 2021. We stopped here for lunch on a Wednesday and there was no wait whatsoever. There is an upstairs and a downstairs but we went upstairs where I was obsessed with the green velvet chairs. There is also some upper balcony seating but we wanted to take advantage of A/C before getting back out to sightsee. I was in the mood for breakfast so I got the Sainte-George Breakfast Sandwich and it was amazing. It looks like it would be too filling but it was justright. It had bacon, avocado, arugula and an over easy egg on a croissant. The sweet tea I had was also just right. Hubby had the Forbidden Black Rice Poke Bowl. It comes with either sushi grade salmon, ahi tuna or roasted beets. It has seaweed salad, edamame, cucumbers, radishes, carrots, bean sprouts, sesame seed and black forbidden rice. Hubby said it was best when mixed together and he was obsessed with how good it was. If we had more time we would have gone back just so he could get this again. He also got a sour beer that he really really liked. We both can't remember what the name was but they don't list the beers in the menu as I think they change seasonally which is nice. Off the top...food was GREAT! I enjoyed everything including the scallops, thousand layer potatoes and the pork chop special (BEST non-stuffed chop I've ever had). Good wine and good waitress. Now the rub...and the two star ding. They know how to TAKE the reservations...but they don't know how to HOLD the reservations. We had an 8:15 reservation, showed up 5 minutes early and were told our table wasn't ready. No worries, we walked to Kilwins, got some treats and came back. 8:17p...someone is still at your table, we'll text you when it's ready. Non-apologetic and quite short. Okay... Whatever, there is a great concept next door called Auggie's that does beers and ciders self serve from automated taps. It saved the day! But this is a review about Sainte George...so let's fast forward... 8:30...no text, return to restaurant and same thing, no apologies...someone is still at your table...we finish another beer at Auggies and go and wait outside in 49 degree weather. Finally, at 8:40p your table still isn't ready, but if we want, we can have a table in the "Champagne lounge" downstairs. We're starving and out of time to wait (two couples with kids with the sitter), so we say "YES PLEASE!". Long story short...have never waited more than 5-10m past for a reserved table. Hostess was less than sympathetic or apologetic, which is the issue here. If you eat in the "Champagne Lounge" you can hear EVERYTHING from the kitchen, especially their profanity-laced bickering over getting your dinner out 45 minutes after you ordered (which I laughed at, but still...). If you're reading this review...give it a try. But if you experience the same issues, get it on Yelp so this restaurant can continue its maturation process and live up to its potential in one of the prime spots on St. George. read more

Turns out...the little things, are the big things. As locals, my husband and I were excited for a great new upscale restaurant to open in town. We have been several times and the food has been consistent. The chef is talented and offers some eclectic dishes that are pretty tasty and have brought us back. This is the upside. However, on our most recent lunch visit we were "nickel and dimed" which in effect left us with a sour experience and most likely we will not return. When the bill arrived ($52) we realized we (2 people) were charged $16 for 2 unsweet iced teas and 2 sodas. Having never been charged for refills on previous visits, I inquired with the waiter regarding the charges for four beverages ($4 each) and he indicated that not all servers charge for refills but he "just follows the rules". (I suppose all of the other meals we have had there, the wait staff realized how silly this would be to charge for tea and soda refills, and never did.) Additionally, I asked for a side of aioli and was charged a chintzy $.50. So for a bill that came to $52, $16 of this came from 2 teas and 2 sodas -- for 2 people. (Absurd!) Additionally, drink refill charges are not noted on the menu. (...And by the way, if you really want to break it down, the glasses hold a minimal amount of tea/soda. We're not talking large glasses here.) This place seemed to have a lot of potential when it initially opened, but I must say, we have noticed a decline - including the level of attentive service (perhaps not wanting to offer refills, our server avoided our table ?). It's too bad but there are plenty of other great restaurants in St. Augustine that my husband and I enjoy. Unfortunately, they lost customers over frivolous and unnecessary charges. And just as I bragged on how great we thought Sainte-George was when they opened, we will also tell of our most recent observations as well. read more

We went to this restaurant because the menu looked good online and we could walk from our hotel. We were seated upstairs in a beautiful area, the table and chairs were very nice. Our waiter Mike didn't have the best attitude, and seemed like he didn't enjoy serving us. He wasn't very friendly or personable. We were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary, but he didn't ask us anything or try to make conversation... We noticed the other tables near us were brought tall glasses of ice water, but for some reason we were brought scotch-glass size lukewarm tap water (??)...we were very confused and thought it was somewhat comical honestly. The waiter brought us our sodas and my husband had something in his drink But we aren't people who want to complain or make a scene, so we just waited for our food. My husband ordered the Stuffed Chicken Breast...but for some reason they brought him the smallest and DRIEST chicken thigh known the man ever...and it wasn't stuffed?? Wow. This is a must-visit if in the historic section of Saint Augustine. This is definitely not a tourist trap that is inflating prices for mediocre food. This is definitely a true gem. We were looking for something for Christmas Eve that took reservations and had outdoor seating choices for those reservations - and this just happened to come up in our search. I'm so glad it did. It was truly a special meal and experience. We had a gorgeous view of the Fort and the water from our balcony table (note, there are heaters on the balcony if the weather requires!). The service was top notch from start to finish - friendly, informative, attentive. I started with the French Onion soup and it was the perfect blend and balance of flavors and ingredients. I then had the short rib...which is melt-in-your-mouth yumminess. It is paired with a fried potato wedge (yes, please!) and the incredibly addictive asparagus (and the name is on point - I've never seen asparagus prepared this way and definitely savored every bite!). We finished off our meal with the cookie and cream, which is made to order and was a nice finisher to our experience. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for something that is incredible quality with a price that is fair for what you are getting in terms of overall experience.
