Celebrated our anniversary here and it definitely is a fine dining experience. We ordered the Rue Experience and from start to finish, each dish was a pleasant surprise. We upgraded our first bite to include caviar and it was so good. It was like a fancy tater tot with caviar. The only negative was that they spaced out each dish for too long. Our entire dinner took 3 hours. I think 2 hours would've been better. The lamb wasn't my favorite but it's just preference.. but everything else was delicious and complex and beautifully presented. Had a great dining experience here for a friends birthday. They were very kind in leaving a birthday card for my friend at the table. They also brought us (group of 4) a complimentary champagne glass to cheers to my friend. They were also very nice about us bringing in an outside dessert, all I did was call to ask and make sure that was ok. Waiters were very attentive and filled water glasses extremely frequently. We ordered delicious cocktails, they had a wide variety of gin cocktails which I loved! Many of the hors d'oeuvres were delicious especially the venison pate tartines. I ordered starters as my meal because unfortunately I felt the entrees available were lacking options I liked and it felt limited. Entree options were only fish or meats I don't eat (pork). I am still happy with the starters that served as my meal especially the tortellini pasta. But with them being starters they're a bit smaller versus getting an entree. Parking and accessing the building wasn't bad, they do have a small parking lot so spots can be limited. I found the atmosphere to be nice and not overly loud but perfect noise level. For the Mains, I had the ribeye and my wife had the monkfish. I wanted my steak medium, but still received medium rare (pic doesn't do justice). My wife's monkfish tasted bland. For dessert, we had the Amaretto soufflé. Enjoyed the dessert. Food wait was just way tooooooo long and the place was loud. So much for having an intimate evening. Celebrated our anniversary here on a Friday night. We were greeted warmly by the staff and seated right away since we have a reservation. Our table has 2 glasses of champagne and a card for us, very sweet of them. We started the evening with their Mayport Shrimp and House Bread. We both enjoyed the buttery and soft bread but the shrimps were just okay. We also had drinks, Mai Tai (so good!) for me and a cider for the hubs. For the main course, which came maybe after almost an hour of wait, I ordered the Monkfish. I didn't particularly like the flavor overall, but the side of veggies were tasty. My husband is a meat eater so he got the Ribeye, it was good but the portion, in my opinion, is small for the price. We both loved the Amaretto Soufflé. It was not a very good experience because of the wait and the portion of the food, The place is also quite loud, and not a very intimate place for a date night. We ended up here one evening on short notice and they were able to accommodate us thankfully as we showed up right as they were opening. The vibe of this restaurant is super relaxed, the kind of place where you can have a relaxing cocktail or two with friends you haven't seen in a long time. The service was absolutely 5*. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and we easily made allowances for our kids to have some simplified options. Our appetizers were refreshing and the drinks were fantastic as well. Adorable, romantic, cozy little restaurant in the heart of San Marco. Parking can be a challenge in this area but they have a few dedicated spots in front. Cocktails are all so amazing here. There is an extensive craft cocktail menu, organized by liquor which is appreciated. If you're not sure what you want, the servers are great at recommending a drink based on your preferred flavor profile. Gabby at the bar can even create something outstanding that's sure to impress. The chef's tasting experience is such a treat! It's definitely a splurge and not large portions but it's such a fun and special experience, especially for groups. It's not rushed and allows plenty of time for socialization between courses. The wine pairings are always amazing and have given us the chance to try new delicious wines that we otherwise would not have chosen. The restaurant was clean, beautiful, but small. This made our conversation hard to hear but it wasn't too much of a fuss. So we finally got to Rue St Marc for the 5 course experience menu with wine pairings. So worth it. We added the foie gras for $20 each. They have parking out front which is a rarity in San Marco. The restaurant itself is relatively small and has some outside seating. It's open floor plan so you can watch the kitchen from almost all the seating to the left of entrance door. Although there are 4 stool seats where you can get a front row view if you like that. There are also 4 very comfortable and roomy booths with cushiony black leather to the left of the door (highly recommend). The high tops have the metal seats which I find uncomfortable and sometimes difficult to move in to the table. Our waiter was good, but with the 5 course the kitchen really runs the service and describes each course., so it is more of a team service. The start was kind of slow. We ordered a drink before and that was almost gone before the amuse bouche arrived. Amuse bouche - 3 delightful bites - a duck liver on brioche toast, an elevated tater tot and a crab tart. Crab tart was the least interesting of the 3. I am not usually a fan of tater tots but I would order these as a side they were that tasty with all the accoutrements. Next our added on foie gras course - came with a nice Sauternes, complemented with pear and brioche of course. Our pears were more than a tad underripe, hard actually. But there was a purée which worked perfectly. A good size piece for 2 and yummy. Then our actual 1st course - scallops paired with a Lebanese rose. One perfectly cooked and seared scallop with a lovely sauce. 2nd course - halibut paired with a Chardonnay, nicely cooked and sauced. 3rd course - mushroom risotto with a foam paired with a red. Great depth of earthy flavor contrasted with a light foam atop it, Risotto a tad under but very tasty. My husband asked for another of the brioche bread service to go with. The bread service is 2 lovely baked brioche rolls with a salted butter. 4th entree - duck breast, probably the only real miss. While the breast meat was cooked well the skin and fat were not rendered properly and therefore simply had to be cut off to be able to cut and eat the breast. Again sauce and red wine pairing very good. 5th dessert - I missed the explanation. But it was 1/4 of 6" berry tart. Allot of food but you don't leave feeling like you have eaten too much. It's over 2 plus hours. We arrived just prior to 7 and completed a little after 9:30. We will definitely come back on a regular basis, sorry it took us so long to get here. They also have a 3 course prix fixe - which you have a list of 5-6;items in each of 3 courses. This is only available on week days. Weekends only 5 course. read more

The chef will prepare 5 dishes for you and you would not know what you will be getting until it hits your table. Each dish is well presented and our server describes it very thoroughly. Initially, we thought we will not be full looking at the size of the dish but by the end of the meal, we were truly satisfied. Great food, reliable combinations, expertly prepared. We added wine pairing and the foie gras. The highlights (besides the whole meal and dining experience) was the amuse bouche, foie gras, scallops & shrimp, tortellini, and lemon cheesecake dessert. The dishes were far more flavorful and varied in ingredients than my listing/explanation. Highly highly recommend a visit for the tasting menu, especially before this place isn't swamped (it's definitely a local gem). We'll be back for both the tasting menu as well as a week night meal shortly. It's so wonderful when a local place like this greatly exceed expectations. read more

With an emphasis on fresh and delicious French recipes you can find anything from French appetizers to deliciously prepared entree courses, desserts, and of course a wide variety of beverages. When you walk in, the restaurant is a little small but the style is very elegant. Blue leather booths and high top table selections for seating. There is also a cute outdoor patio. The food was very well cooked and waiter was very attentive. I would recommend a visit, especially if you love French cuisine. The only downside would be slightly higher prices. We did the risky move of coming and booking the 5 course "rue experience" with wine pairing - with an infant as we Were in from out of town and had no alternative. Thankfully our little guy must have got the fine dining memo lol and he was on his best behavior and allowed us to enjoy and complete our meal. We booked an early evening spot and got placed in a perfect end booth and began our journey quickly with a beautiful Orginal cocktail. Yum! We then moved into our dinner courses. Perfectly plated and timed we loved all of the selections and preparations. We started with a 3 piece fish appetizer, next up was a delicious scallop dish, then was a pork loin dish {apologies I was so involved I forgot to take pics after the seafood lol}, lastly we had a beef cut, followed by the most deliciously prepared dessert. We had no idea what the menu was and left our fates to the remarkable chefs. 1st course: a trio of single-bite apps. wish i could give this place 3.5 stars. the concept is good and the dishes are pretty, however, none of the dishes were particularly inventive, the wait time in-between each course (the rue experience) was too long, and a couple dishes were too salty. my favorites were the amuse-bouche course (consisted of a pâté toast thing, a crispy scalloped potato w a creamy topping and fish roe, and a cold soup) and the scallop course. the amuse-bouche course was the most inventive course & the scallop was cooked perfectly, humongous, and well-seasoned. the dessert (brown butter cake with figs and 2 different sorbets) was PHENOMENAL. the cake was super moist, the sorbets had the perfect creamy texture, and all the different flavors worked well together. however, the swordfish and japanese eggplant (part of the steak course) were so salty they were almost inedible. every component in a costly tasting menu should be seasoned properly. rue saint marc's sister restaurant, matthew's, is much better. read more

I must say that I missed out on having a dinner here since I had late lunch. Food looked fantastic as far as I can see from others. I had my tea and dessert "yoghurt cake" and I almost died and gone to heaven. Perfect sweetness with amazing rich shortbread like crust. Great clear gelatin on top of yoghurt. If I could be little picky, I did not care for the apricot on top as it was beautiful decor. Will definitely be back. I wished they had a better patio decor and better location with view. read more
