I can't believe I waited this long to try Tratto. Everything from the wine selection to the main courses were absolutely perfect. The Cacio e Pepe was some of the tastiest I've ever had, far overshadowing some other places I've had it like Giada's restaurant in vegas. Was excited to try this spot, Saturday reservations are booked out a few weeks so, that initially set the stage for this experience. We're Order the Pasta Caio & Seared Chicken with grapes, yes grapes...like the fruit from Napa type of grape, which takes longer preparation time due to cooking style (No Biggie). But...The Pepe Cioa (pasta) can out first, then we ate that and 30 minutes later the chicken came out. So we are now had chicken and some grapes they cooked it with. As the main course with no contrast or pasta to complement the dish. Unfortunately being a new restaurant the kinks have not been worked out and the menu is lacking balance and options. The servings are large and don't accommodate parties of two. The sides are $18 and served family style, which is fine, but how much zucchini can two people eat? The menu is limited and not in a fun way. I like the initial go around at this concept, it needs to be tweak and most probably will be as he is what I consider a real chef I expect this menu will evolve into a more well rounded experience. read more

My party and I dined at Tratto several weeks ago. The ambiance, food and service were superb, especially the chicken liver appetizer, outstanding. The experience was so terrific that we went back two weeks later. Very, very disappointing considering how good it was two weeks earlier. The chicken liver app was over done and had nowhere near the taste as previous. My entree, the lamb bolognese was so salty to be almost inedible. One of my party had the pork chops, asked for medium rare and received well done. Hugely disappointing after having such a wonderful experience. Also, the service on the second trip was woeful. The young lady who serviced us should really learn how to smile. She acted like we were doing her a favor by being there. Our first trip was 5 star, but the second, barely 3. We waited quite a while for these reservations but it makes sense with the place being on a Netflix series. That said, well worth it!!! They also had a wine on their menu that we haven't had anywhere else in the valley and it's a phenomenal Pinot noir. Tratto has been a favorite when visiting my parents in North Scottsdale since they opened their original location. We have been several times to their current location and they never miss a beat. It is always worth the 45 minute+ trip. Last weekend I took a friend for dinner - very excited to share what I knew would be a spectacular meal. Of course, everything was perfect. In fact, at one point we commented on how every dish was perfectly seasoned - as if to the exact grain of salt. We are both food and beverage professionals in Chicago so I'd venture to say we know a bit more than your average "elite yelper" in need of a hobby when it comes to good food. Our host, server, and support staff were all excellent. Although we didn't see him this time, Chef Bianco is often at the restaurant, in the kitchen or working the dining room touching tables. Many chefs with his success and accomplishments check out of the day-to-day so it's always an impressive sign to see a present chef/owner. I have a two-step process when planning a trip to the valley. 1) Buy a plane ticket 2) try to snag a reservation of Tratto. After 20 plus visits, nothing has changed except the address. read more

I've come here a couple times but struggled to get back in after the Netflix attention. I was thankfully able to snag a bar seat on a Monday, after waiting a short while. Regardless the service is great and they deserve the good business they're getting. I could live off just their focaccia and amuse bouche alone, they're so flavorful. I started with the two wash ranch chicken livers, which were fantastic. I washed it down with a refreshing mezcal old fashioned. For dinner I had the pan seared swordfish, and I mopped the plate with focaccia after I finished. For dessert I ended light with honey ice cream, a perfect last bite. Tratto is an excellent restaurant! This is a farm-to-fork restaurant serving Italian style food. Whatever ingredients are in season are what inspires their dishes. Everything is made in house, including their pastas. Make sure to make reservations. I witnessed patrons who were refused to dine there because they didn't have reservations and the place was booked out. I brought a party of eight for our Friday night dinner. We were seated at a large table and our server immediately started us out with water and sparkling water. Dishes of olives, Manchego cheese, and sliced cucumbers were brought out. We placed drink orders of white and red wines, mocktails for the ladies, and ginger beer. Shots of Sambuca came later. The menu food items were listed on a single page and the drink items were listed on the back. They did have one food item, which was not on the menu, but they always have it available. That item is Cacio e Pepe, which is one of the reasons I chose this restaurant; I was so was glad to hear that. Because we had a party of eight, our server suggested we order two Antipastis', two pastas, one protein, and one Contornis if I remember correctly. We ended up ordering four antipastis' (two Caesar salads, two Farinatas), two pastas (Cacio e Pepe, Tagliarini), two proteins (16oz Rib Eye, Piccolo Chicken), and one Contorni (Chioggia beets). Everything was so good! The Caesar salads had long shaved pieces of Parmesan and had just the right amount of dressing. The Farinata is a savory thin pancake made from ground chickpeas or garbanzo beans. It has a nice crisp outer layer and a softer center. The Cacio e Pepe was made with Bucatini pasta and is made with only three simple ingredients, pasta, freshly ground black pepper, and Pecorino Romano cheese. But I think a fourth is used if you count pasta water. I didn't get to try the Tagliarini. The rib-eye was served with marinated fennel, cooked a perfectly med-rare, and came out already sliced. The Piccolo Chicken prepared with lemon and fresh Bay was moist and flavorful. The beets were served with melted Gorgonzola dolce, fresh mint and honey roasted pistachios. So you can imagine how they tasted. They were large cut and sweet. No one had room for dessert. But it was another successful Friday night dinner outing! Very good, with glimpses of greatness. The menu is a tad confusing in terms of portioning. We ended up with one appetizer, two pastas, and a small entree to share. It was too much. We took some home and I was still too full. The chicken liver app was great, though the way it's served guarantees you're going to make a mess eating it. It's on a narrow wooden board, and as you slice it up with the provided knife it all falls apart and lands on the tablecloth. It's unavoidable. At least it was delicious. Chicken livers can be really strong and metallic, and these were really balanced. Strong, but in a great way. Pasta was 1) cacio e pepe, always on the menu. Good, beautiful emulsified sauce, but much too salty. 2) pork ragu, which was amazing, with large chunks of melt-in-your-mouth pork. That dish was perfect. We finished with two thin pork chops served with grilled peaches. Really excellent. Unfortunately that left no room for dessert, even for my dessert-loving wife. We'll have to go back. I had some leftover pork ragu two days later, and it was still amazing, maybe even better than when it was served. Really liked the service, we saw two servers, and they were both attentive, friendly, and professional. The space is shabby chic, and I loved the vibe. Music could be a little softer, maybe, but the ambience is very chic and elegant. Looking forward to going again, hopefully soon. I'll order less food this time. read more

Ambiance is perfect I would describe it as elegant funkiness in the location, the old building with the original ceiling, lighting, table placement and distance from each other, place oozes style, it is superb. However, service was the low point, waiter was really challenged by multi tasking, he would go to a table, pass all of his other tables he was servicing that table with no acknowledgment, then he would service the request from the original table, then rinse and repeat. You had to interrupt him in the rinse and repeat for service for your table, It was actually very annoying, as an example he finally filled our water glasses after I requested the check, they were empty for a while and a little late. BTW I gave my wife my glass of water... Another really annoying thing is when ordering, he said they only serve what was on the menu, then I heard the table next to us as for Caccio e Pepe so when I asked him WTF, and said "that was not on the menu", he said "oh didn't I tell you?, I was really busy". Seriously, I asked him specifically about what they served, etc. Perhaps at that time mention other things, just sayin. Dolh... Also now after further thought on this review, I will say that all the rest of the staff was friendly, quick and and excellent. This was including the hostess, service/bus staff (nice guy), runners, etc. we just got a poor waiter/primary interface. So, in closing, besides the waiter, it was fantastic. We will still go back ,most likely lots ;-), but we will request that this dude is not our waiter if needed, everything else was great. read more

I had a great experience here as part of a group of 7. We ordered a selection of antipasti, all of the pasta (on and off menu), pork chops, steak and some sides ... basically most of the menu. All of it was delicious, though I think the pasta and desserts were the stars. Nice wine list; we didn't splurge on the chosen wines but they were very nice. My husband took me here for our Anniversary dinner. The ambiance is nice and the staff were all very polite and helpful. The menu didn't have some of the dishes that I had hoped for so I was a bit disappointed. We had the chicken liver appetizers which we enjoyed, I had the halibut and my husband had pasta. I didn't care for mine, my husband did enjoy his. The highlight for me was the eggnog drink. I would have loved to have gotten dessert, preferably tiramisu but it wasn't on the menu. I know they change the menu daily and getting in without a reservation is next to impossible, not sure I want to chance going again and not finding anything that's appealing to me. read more

Simply amazing.....the building is incredibly cool, the vibe, the culture, the FOOD! Wow! So great. On Sundays, they make bread! We had rosemary foccaccia with sea salt. We tried the farinata, which is a chickpea crepe and they top it with different items but today it was lemon and anaheim chilis! The lettuce gem salad is probably tbe least amounts of items on a salad but it's absolutely amazing. The shallot vinaigrette was the best most flavorful dressing I've ever had. For the meal, we got cacio e pepe....psst....its always on the menu, even if you don't see it. Service was fine, not super friendly or out going but I don't need anyone to entertain me.
