It has been one of my go to places for pho and pad Thai. But my most recent dining experience has not been the best. Maybe it's system error or something, there are stuff that are not on the QR code menu and need to order through a staff. Ok no biggie. I think what annoys us more is perhaps the cleanliness of the restaurant. We were early and could pick wherever we want to sit. At the time we already saw many flies. Then we sat down at a table and realized it looks unwiped. So we had to move to the next table. If we are the first people who entered, the dirty table would have been from last night? And then throughout the meal there's just so many flies that kept disturbing us, making the whole dining experience unpleasant. When we brought up this flies concern to the staff she just said yeah this year we saw a lot, not sure why. Hummmm, at least a "we are working on it"? Finally got a chance to visit my once-favourite viet restaurant after their relocation. I gotta say, disappointment :( I recall this place being way better before their move. We ordered: - Pho - Noodles too soft/overcooked. Broth was a bit too salty. - Bun vermicelli - Grilled meats were barely grilled and seasoned. The beef was also quite dry and not even cut into bite-sized pieces. - Spring rolls - Decent, nothing outstanding. - Chicken wings - Tiny. - Raw beef salad - Have had wayyyyyy better elsewhere. Service was half-half. Some of the waitresses were great. The other one not so much - forgot alot of things and had bad attitude. One of the best pho restaurants in Markham. I'm so glad they reopened after more than a year being closed. Started off by using Yelp waitlist for a table for 2. Within the estimated time of 30-42 mins, I got a call that my table is ready. I got there and wasn't really told what to do and wasn't given any menus. So I just scanned the QR code and looked at the menu. After asking a server to take an order, she tells me, you just scan and order... so I'm like oh ok. I ordered the wrap and special pho and the viet rice with lemongrass pork chop and beef ribs. My boyfriends pho ended up coming the fastest before our appetizer came (roll). He ended up eating for 15mins before the roll came and then another 10mins wait until my rice came. It's quite unacceptable, as I had to sit there watching my bf eat and how his came before the appetizer. Upon waiting for the roll and my rice , we asked the server politely to check on our appetizer and see if it's going to come soon. The servers reply was "kitchen is making it " and left , well yes I know the kitchen is making it but, I would've appreciated if she went to the kitchen and ask if it would be ready within a few minutes and came back and gave me an update. The table next to us was also frustrated with waiting for their meals, and asked the server and she once again repeated the same thing she said to my bf and I. Overall, the food quality is still the same and good. The Pho Restaurant is a very popular spot for pho in Markham. Their newish location across from FMP is more spacious than their previous. What to order: Spring Rolls 4/5 - good crunch coating, nice amount of filling with the mush texture I associate vietnamese spring rolls with. Well balanced. Pho 4/5 - classic rich broth and nice portion. A bit expensive but you can't go wrong with the amount of meat they do give you. The pho special with everyone is my go to. Bun Bo Hue 5/5 - I find that their bun bo hue is really flavourful, with a hint of shrimp and subtle spiciness coming through. I really enjoy this overall, and it's actually not a lot of noodles compared to the amount of meat you get! The maybe dishes: Bun (Rice Vermicelli) 3/5 - wasn't a bad dish per se, but I do prefer my vermicelli to have Shredded veggies more so I can mix it all together. Another consideration is their meat was not as char grilled and more so a pan fry take on it. Overall it's good but can be better. We had high hopes on this place as my cousin recommended this place. Went on a Saturday afternoon with mom and it was packed already. Given the amount of patrons in the restaurant, one would think it must be something good, which was our thoughts. Menu and ordering were via QR code which was simple enough, and pictures were provided on most dishes so you would have an idea of what to expect. Their pho has a customizable option starting at $12, for those who might want some, but not all the meat options they usually put into your standard assorted pho. We ordered their assorted pho and rice paper roll on this visit. Their pho portion was nicely proportioned, and we did get a lot more meat/ ingredients compared to other pho places. The broth was nice and light, didn't feel as salty. However, here comes the reason why it's only 2-stars... THE SERVICE! At most, as in 95% of the pho restaurants, would provide bean sprouts. Apparently, not this place. We gave them the benefits of the doubt that they were busy and forgot about the bean sprout so we decided to ask. The waitress asked whether we wanted the cooked or raw one and replied, she said OK I will bring it out. 5 mins later... nothing. 10 mins later... nothing. Til our own meal was finished, STILL NO FREAKING BEAN SPROUTS! I don't really care about that bean sprout which cost nearly nothing. It's the way she acknowledged it and never delivered it, that bugged me. On top of that, she even came and just started to take away our bowls BEFORE WE EVEN GET THE CHANCE TO DRINK THE BOWL OF BROTH! Busy bustling pho spot for a reason! Fresh noodles are offered here, which I really appreciate. And their pho is just loaded full of meat! Rare beef is excellent and the tendon nice and tender. Broth is a bit more heavily seasoned than I like, but that's the only slight downside. Also tried the Bo La Lop, which is on the sweeter side but I recommend it. The online menu was pretty convenient to use and had pictures of almost everything, which I really appreciate. We planned to order deep fried spring rolls but they were all out, so we went for the crispy chicken wings with garlic. It was delicious and we really enjoyed it. My partner ordered the classic pho with beef and fresh noodles and it was great. With the large size it's a very filling portion for one person. I ordered the yellow curry pho with beef and I loved it as well. I found the curry broth to be a bit heavier than usual pho broth so finishing this meal was a challenge! This was our first visit to this resto after reading the reviews. The restaurant is pretty spacious and clean. They have servers but you place your order on line. We ordered 4 bowls of pho and my oldest ordered rice with grilled ribs and lemongrass chicken. My yellow curry pho was so good and the portions were very good. Lots of beef which I really liked. The portions are are generous. My hubby had the stew beef and the flavouring as good too. The broth was nice and hot for all of them. You can customize your bowl of pho starting at $12 before taxes with either fresh noodle, rice noodle, vermicelli, glass noodle or egg noodle. The size available is regular, large and extra large. Lots of options for soup base and meat content with garnishes. The prices are on the higher side because the pho starts around $14 before taxes. The customer service was good. My go-to when I visit a pho restaurant is naturally pho, but I decided to try something different when I hit up The Pho Restaurant for the first time. I ended up ordering the VERMICELLI BOWL ($17.95), which is both delicious and easy for takeout. Vermicelli bowls here come with your choice of 3 toppings, so I got TWO SERVINGS OF GRILLED LEMONGRASS CHICKEN AND ONE SERVING OF THE SPRING ROLL. I was very pleased with the portions! They were quite generous with the toppings, hence there was enough to pair with the noodles. The lemongrass chicken was flavorful and not dry by any means; and the spring roll was crunchy and well stuffed. The added vegetables (cucumber, bean sprouts, lettuce, and pickled reddish and carrots) was also a nice touch for some freshness and balance. Naturally, this came with a container of fish sauce, definitely enough for the whole bowl, which was good in flavor. When ordering, I also got asked if peanuts were okay, and of course I said yes! All in all, I was very satisfied with the dish and would definitely come back to get this again. Small detail, but I was expecting to get my takeout in a styrofoam container as most Vietnamese places use, but was surprised to find out they served it in a plastic container. Personally preferred (I hate styrofoam). I also treated myself to their COCONUT COFFEE which caught my eye because of its presentation. I absolutely love the look of how the coffee has seeped into the sides of the cup. The coconut smoothie is the main base of the drink, with strong flavor. But to make it more interesting, Saigonese black coffee is poured on top, similar to that of an affogato (that's how I knew I'd love this). Vietnamese coffee is naturally very strong in flavor, so the coconut smoothie helps to mellow it out a little for you non-coffee drinkers. I enjoyed the consistency that was created when mixing the two, as the drink was not too icy. Definitely delicious but I was shocked when I saw the price on the receipt... A whooping $10.75 for this large-sized beverage. Glad I can say I tried it though! Price-wise, definitely on the higher side in my opinion but not outrageous as a lot of other spots also serve their Vietnamese food around this price point. Service was very friendly, with smiles and greetings. The place looked decently spacious, and being around 11:30 am on a Monday, there was a decent number of tables seated for dine-in. read more

Came to check out their new location after they moved from across the street. I was a bit disappointed in all aspects of this restaurant. 1. The restaurant itself was HOT. It was not the best experience dining in this restaurant on a hot summer day when trying to eat a hot bowl of noodle soup. My party of 4 was drenched half way through our meal and had to go to the restroom multiple times to cool down and wipe down our sweat. Perhaps their AC was broken on the day that we went but hoping this problem would be fixed soon for all other future diners. 2. Service - was not the best. Our pho did not come with the usual fixings of bean sprouts and herbs but was brought to us once we asked. Continue our hunt for the best Pho in Ontario, since we had the best in Hong Kong so far. I watched a YouTube channel reviewing various pho in town. And this place came out the first place. And it is very accurate. Although still not as good as the one I used to go in Hong Kong. Anyway how, wha this good here? The portion is big, and the ingredients were added generously. However, the price point also is higher as well. Basically, you are paying the price of an extra large pho in other place, and getting the same size here. Alternatively, you can see this as a lack of option of smaller size. The beef and the various meats given is of good quality. Tender, moist and flavorful. The noodle being firm and smooth. The spring rolls have been the best I have tried in any pho restaurant. The soup of the Pho is what I found questionable. It is tasteful, but the spices added to it masked the flavors of the beef. This is unfortunate, as the beef is of good quality. Another bad thing here is the dependency of Software ordering system. The user interface could be misleading, which my family missed to press the confirmation at the cart, thus, missed the order. In conclusion, this place serves great Vietnamese food and pho. I will definitely come back for the pho. But if I want salted lime soda (which they don't seem to have) or the more traditional broth of the pho, I might visit the other pho restaurants for some varieties. read more

This restaurant used to be located closer to Fairburn Dr and Rodick Rd but moved to Highway 7 and Woodbine, which is actually not that far from it's old location. It's one of my favourite pho restaurants in the GTA and rivals Nam and Pho 88 in my opinion. I really love the Spring Rolls at this location and always get it no matter the size of my group. Parking is relatively easy unless you're going during peak times in the evening. There are several other businesses in this small plaza so you are competing for a spot with other patrons. Similar to Nam, you can order on your phone which makes things so much easier for customizing your bowl. The new location has more spacing than the old location but it does still get busy on weekends. They have a Yelp waitlist set up so you can always add yourself if necessary. I can't confirm if you can add yourself remotely because the time I went, I did not have to wait for a table. Otherwise they are relatively efficient in getting people in and out so the wait is not too long. My favourite things about the restaurant is the delicious broth and the crispy spring rolls. The fish sauce that goes along with the spring rolls is great! The chicken wings are not bad but I prefer Nams' over this one. read more

My review is just based on the few times I have done take out at the location. I heard from friends this spot was really good for Vietnamese food so I gave it a shot. I really liked the convenience of ordering my meal online so I don't need to call. The online ordering portal is easy to use and had good communication. We end up having Pho Dac Biet - pretty good flavour broth and lots of good meat. I love we have the option of fresh noodles. This would probably taste so good fresh at the restaurant. We also had Vermicelli. I got it with pork, chicken and spring roll. It was a good amount of meat as well. I would order this again. This used to be our spot for pho before they moved to Hwy 7 location. It's always busy and a long wait. We came back on a random weekday and luckily got seats. We both ordered pho and shared a Thit Nuong Cuon. The spring roll was decent and had a good charred flavour to the meat. The pho was on the sweeter side, which I usually crave. However, way too much cinnamon. There was also meat scum on top of the soup, not very appealing. This is usually caused by boiling the rare beef in the soup rather than pouring the broth on top of thin slices of rare beef to let it cook naturally. We used to love their Bun Bo Hue when they first opened...as it was hearty, spicy and full of flavour. Even that was watered down after a few visits. It's been mixed experiences for us. I understand the appeal of build your own pho. But with so many other Vietnamese restaurants popping up around the area, it's hard to justify the long waits and inconsistencies. read more

The Pho Restaurant has been one of our favourite pho places ever since we discovered it. The noodles and meat always taste fresh, not chewy and rough. Plus, they don't skimp out on the meat like a lot of other pho places. One of us usually gets the regular pho noodle soup with everything except chicken, and the other gets bun bo hue. For pho, we always opt for fresh noodles instead of regular noodles cause we think it tastes better. We are pretty picky with bun bo hue, but this one makes the cut cause it has pig feet (which in our opinion is the best part) and it's not too spicy, so you can actually enjoy the flavour! The vermicelli dishes look amazing too. We always tell ourselves that we'll try the vermicelli but always end up going back for pho haha when pho is life Service here is pretty quick, although most pho restaurants are. It's usually busy so make sure you reserve a table 10-15min in advance. If the wait is too long, there are lots of neighbouring restaurants to try. I did really enjoy their coconut slush w/ Vietnamese coffee, but I still find it pretty expensive ($10.75). For 3 people we paid just over $100... Not about affordability, but I feel these figures would be reasonable if it was more of an upscale place. Honestly I was impressed. The place is clean, nice and has many tables. Looks like a popular spot too. It's a scan and order on your phone place which is really cool. The only thing that they need to improve is that once you order at the table, you can see what you ordered. Right now it just resets so if you have doubts on what you ordered you can't go back and check the history. The prices are good and portions are great. I really enjoyed the Vermicelli - you can DIY it which I thought was great! Had a lot of meat portions too. I really liked the spicy noodle c11 broth BUT it was filled with a lot of fatty meats which wasn't ideal. So probably wouldn't order that again due to the fattiness. My go to for pho in the area. Also because it's so close to me lol BUT asides from that, the food here, yes asides from their pho, is legit. Right across from Longos, The Pho is relatively big except for their parking lot so think about the time you're coming here especially on a weekend (take out is always an option!). The restaurant is a number of servers so food comes pretty efficiently. The place seems clean, none of that sticky table business with slippery floors under your table, at least when I was there. Their size small for pho is a pretty good size, and their broth comes HOT which is always a must with pho. They also give a lot of meat which is a bonus. Their rice dishes are also a must try! I also tried their durian shake (mm durian). The only downside is their price for this. The shake was nothing amazing but still good. Going to this restaurant is like visiting an old friend that you haven't seen for awhile. I remember my first time dinning in this restaurant when they first opened and was originally located at the rear of First Markham Place and had moved to it's current location now on Hwy 7. I found their prices had increased a lot, I ordered the beef Pho from the regular size it started at $15 and for an extra large an additional $5 extra. I was also craving for some rice paper rolls so I ordered as an appetizer. To my surprised the extra large portion had so much meat it actually covers a quarter of the bowl at least. Needless to say it can feed 2 -4 people depends on their appetite. Soup base is very tasty and you can taste the touch of ginger, it's a different style compared to other Vietnamese places that I have been It's iworth your bang. The rice paper rolls are very fresh and tasty and so not have any funky taste or smell. They have all the condiment that you can imagine at your finger tips but I find their chili sauce on the salty side so I just used the sirracha instead. I would had given this place 4 starts, for the price you pay T least they should have given you some Basil's. Waiting for a seat was good. If you use the Yelp app, you can join in for the waiting g list instead of you standing in line for a long while. Even when your early and it's not to busy, they can get you seated. The food we ordered were great. The beef with shrimp crackers just need to slice the meat little thinner for easy to eat. The piece that I had was hard to chew. Other than that, the flavour is so good. The build your own pho and curry pho were really good. Soup base is great and wanted to finish the soup, but was to full. The deep fried and fresh spring rolls were really good with the dipping sauce. I would recommend this place to family and friends. Went on a Saturday night with my mom, and it was packed from 6pm to 7pm (and likely after). Even though there were only 3 people dealing with easily over 50, they were still courteous, efficient and helpful. Chicken Wings in butter sauce were crisp yet perfectly juicy on the inside, quite impressive when they're running a full house. There are fried chicken specialty places that don't consistently achieve this result. My mother is allergic to beef, and fortunately there was a chicken-based broth that had chicken & pork in it. I was expecting a very clean light broth, but as you can see it actually had a bit of cloudiness and was a very robust flavoured soup. We drank most of it. When I first went to The Pho, my friend recommended the Sa Te. It is still good (admittedly less so) but still something not always offered at Vietnamese places. Good blend of spiciness. Beef is still good quality. Will definitely be back. Wish their reservation/Yelp waitlist system was a little less janky though. read more

I went in a week day and it was very busy throughout the entire time I was there. Many groups of friends, families and couples. You order with a QR code to save time, but that also means you don't get to ask staff for recommendations. Portions were fairly big and the food was good. I would go back! read more
