Hubby & I were out shopping on Christmas Eve for some last minute gifts and groceries. We were close to downtown Markham and the idea of Draco came up. Initially we were going for the idea of breakfast, but timing was a bit off from what we anticipated and it was a really nice lunch date instead. I love the Markham Marriott, the staff is always warm and welcoming. Draco has a very sleek, sophisticated and cozy atmosphere. We both ordered Bacon & Cheddar burgers. I opted for a Caesar salad as an appetizer and hubby ordered their Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak. Let's start with the apps. The Caesar salad was SO good! I wish I had taken a pic, but admittedly, my phone was tucked away and I was caught up in the cozy seating, great food and Christmas vibes of the restaurant and lobby. Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak: $33 - Buttercup Squash Puree and Truffle Oil - Everything you want Wagyu to be - tender, cooked to the perfect temp which left a nice warm red centre. This was melt in your mouth good! The burgers - these were perfection! Draco Bacon Cheddar Burger: $25 - Aged Cheddar with Crispy Bacon Strips; Crispy Onion Straws, Arugula and Garlic Aioli. This was a very well seasoned patty, so juicy and a substantial sized patty of fresh not frozen beef. The bun was lightly toasted, bacon crispy, easily taking this into my top 3 fav spots for burgers! Options for sides include fries, sweet potato fries, poutine, side Caesar or garden salad or truffle fries. We finished off our meal with 2 really good cappuccinos and just took our time before heading home. This was our first time back here in a few years. The food was exceptional as was the service and the warm staff. Draco is the perfect spot for an early morning breakfast, work or lunch date or a nice cozy dinner. They also have Christmas & New Years dinners and brunches. Relax in the restaurant with drinks or in the adjacent lounge, this is a great spot to unwind with some great food and drinks. read more

Came here for a weeknight dinner when I was in the area. The restaurant is located just next to the lobby inside the Marriott. The service was friendly and we were seated right away in a booth. There were cushions and it was rather comfortable seating. My 5 year old and I ordered a soup of the day, which was a vegetable soup, a herb roasted chicken, a Buddha bowl with added shrimp, and a kid size chocolate pudding. Overall the food was rather average. Vegetable soup - really just a run of the mill soup. Not too watery. Herb roasted chicken - comes with sweet potatoes and broccolini. Chicken was cooked well, and the yams are flavourful. The broccolini was undercooked. Buddha bowl with shrimp. Extra $13 for 3 shrimp is a bit steep. The dressing was in one spot of the bowl so you need to mix the ingredients yourself really well, otherwise it would have bland patches. The kids dessert was good value. Marshmallow and strawberry toppings was a nice touch. Note that Ruth Chris Steakhouse is right next door so there's really no point getting steak here. Parking is easy to find. Have outdoor option or parking garage at the Marriott. Service could be better as it's 1-2 servers for the whole space, one of them doubles as bartender too. It is open concept shared with the lobby of the hotel so it is quite peaceful. The seats and space is relaxing and they have circle booths for larger groups as well as rectangle booths to watch the games with own tv. The food there is the typical bar grill food with a focus on handhelds. They do have steaks and other proteins and salads too. I have had their burger, steak, salmon and poutine so far. The sauce was out of this world home run winner. Lamb Chops that were pure heaven and succulent. Long Island iced tea with a decent mix of alcohol. The server was great and attentive. Even after the kitchen closed up, she was able to help us get some extra bread to soak up those sauces. I like how we were allowed to chill there for however long after the kitchen closed. Been to Draco inside Downtown Markham's Marriott twice and did not disappoint. Lucky that I got seated at the booth both times, cause I love it when there's pillows to lean on :P I've had their truffle fries, risotto, calamari, pork belly tacos, garlic parm wings, pan seared cod & steak frites. Everything was great, but if I had to choose, my favs were the risotto and pork belly tacos. A restaurant inside the lobby of a hotel, interesting concept. Came here for dinner, so the lights were dim and the ambiance was very quiet. They have a decently sized menu, but all the patrons came later and seemed to grab drinks to delve in to quiet conversations. The seating was plentiful and comfy, distances between tables were quite far apart. The service was very good as the server was very attentive event though the tables were seated far apart from one another, he was able to quickly deal with our needs. Tomahawk steak w Asparagus and mash potatoes - A massive steak with a hefty price tag and a bigger bone. At medium-rare the steak was grilled nicely, seasoned well and was tasty. It didn't need the gravy it came with, but the gravy worked well with the mash potatoes. Asparagus was also well cooked. Would recommend to share with 4 people. Grilled lamb chops - A bit pricey for 4 lamb chops, but was delicious nonetheless. There wasn't anything too special about it, so I wouldn't get again. Pulled pork poutine - A decent dish, but again above the price point that I'd pay for. The fries weren't as crispy as I'd hope, but the right potatoes were used giving it a fluffy sweet interior. This contrasted with the savouriness of the pulled pork and gravy was great. In addition, the cheese curds gave it a respectable chew and cheesiness. Mushroom ravioli - A great vegetarian option, mushroom inside the ravioli gave them a nice chewy texture surrounded by the ravioli skin. Tomato sauce was good but not spectacular. My overall impression of the food was one that is lack luster. Portions were okay, prices were high but the food lacked something to separate it from the rest of the restaurants in the area. I really like this place. The food is good, the wait staff on point. It also looks terrific and is very comfortable. Location: It's located off the lobby in the Toronto Marriott Markham. Parking: there's a lot and you can also park in a parking structure. There's paid parking but I find that's down a lot so free parking sometimes Food: The food is terrific. I've been here a few times and everything is always really really good. I've never had anything that I would say was less than terrific. I saw another review that I said everything was five star and I would agree. They changed their menu often for the season and that's just a reason for you to visit them at least four times a year. You need to try all the new dishes that are coming out. I don't even know what to recommend because everything is just really good, and the menu changes so sometimes it'll be off the menu because the ingredients that are available. I was looking for a fancy place to celebrate a special occasion and this place came up on my search which had the perfect ambience and had some pretty good food reviews. First impression coming in was quite nice as the hostess warmly greeted us. I really liked the elegant modern decor with stylish circular booths throughout. We had a really nice booth by the window. It was my first time here so I played it safe and ordered all the dishes that had positive reviews. For the three of us, we started with the crab and lobster cake which was okay but we've had better where we would be wanting more at the end but we didn't have this experience. As for the mains, we shared the shrimp risotto, lobster grilled cheese and crisp skin salmon. The shrimp risotto was definitely a 4/5 and the other two dishes were only 3/5. I'm not sure if I would come back for dinner but I will likely come back to try their Sunday brunch. read more

It is a relaxed restaurant located in the lobby of Marriott Hotel, the venue was clean, quiet and peaceful. Draco is celebrating the opening of the new Terrace by Draco! And it's a wonderful POP UP - as they call it. I would be interested in making sure that it is a permanent fixture! I've been to Draco many, many times. Part of a Yelp Event years ago, had a big party there with friends, date nights, and events. Back a few years ago, when they were starting, there were confusion and issues with service, but food was always good! And as lobby bars go, it's chic and well put together. Fast forward to present day, the hotel and all the associated industries have been heavily impacted. With inside dining closed, it was pretty hard to do anything at Draco. Now that Patio Dining is OPEN, Draco opened the third floor terrace and made it into a great open air wine and dine scene! Overlooking Downtown Markham and the myriad of businesses and night time colourful lights and displays, I feel tonight was the bellowing of a new post lockdown era! I felt like I was "on top of the world!!!!" Mind you we were only three floors up but you have to give me this! It's been a LOOOOONG Lockdown! For those of you who do not know, Draco is located inside the Marriott Markham. This hotel is so modern and chic. The staff here are so courteous and helpful, I feel like a famous celebrity. In fact!!! There was one dining on the Terrace with us. Can't mention who as I really respect the need for privacy, but it was so cool to dine on Opening Night and look over and see the most casually dressed man in town. He was in a hoodie and flannel pants. Must be staying at the hotel! LOL! Once again, and as I always expect, the food is on point!!! The LAMB is so good and the risotto... OMG! Chef Bill knows how to please the tummies of people with discerning taste! Then again, nothing to take away from Chef, the food was delish!!... BUT after TAKE-OUT for months, I would have taken dry bark with a splash of gravy and a beer just to be out and about again! :D The rest of the food was spot on, and I could not be happier. Happy to be out, happy to be with friends, happy to break bread (or any else for glutton free peeps), and while the night away until closing!!! Seating on the terrace is limited so perhaps reservations would be recommended - if you can get one. Once Draco itself opens, I look forward to heading there too. I've been to Draco twice, once before the pandemic when it was just the indoors part, and recently at the Terrace. Both experiences have been wonderful and consistent. I enjoy the fusion style of the menu, with some North American, Asian and European influences. Their flatbreads always have really fun and creative flavours. The terrace is also really nice, very relaxing and has a nice view of the up and coming downtown Markham. My favourite menu item that I have tried from Draco is definitely the chocolate lava cake, but maybe just because that's one of my favourite desserts of all time. It was super moist and gooey and came with a good amount of fresh blueberries and strawberries. The Shrimp and Corn Risotto is also very good, and the shrimp is big and flavourful. Tried Draco at the Marriott in Downtown Markham. My wife and I, along with the couple we were with, ordered a bunch of dishes which we shared. They had a good assortment of beers and signature cocktails. My wife really liked their blueberry mule. For appetizers, we shared their mushroom flatbread, the cherry tomato flatbread and their truffle fries. All were very good. For our main course we shared the mushroom ravioli, the roasted corn gnocchi and a vegetable risotto. All were great. I have never been a huge fan of mushrooms but I really enjoyed the mushroom dishes we tried. Definitely worth a return visit. read more

I came here for a Yelp event last year and although it wasn't a full dinner experience, I was impressed enough to want to come back. When a group of friends wanted to get together for dinner, Draco was one of the places that I recommended so I booked a table of 11 on a Saturday evening at 6pm. The weather was not nice but everybody made the effort to show up, from as far away as Whitby and Mississauga. They were all impressed with the decor and ambiance. For groups of ten or more, Draco requires a $100 credit card commitment to secure the reservation and we were limited to a reduced menu of three appetizers, three mains, and three desserts of our choice. That was not a problem because we all ended up ordering mostly the same two mains and desserts anyway. They also automatically add 18% gratuity for larger groups. That's the nitty gritty, nothing too unusual. A few of us ordered cocktails and wine. I had the Prohibition Flight, consisting of Buffalo Trace, Blanton's, Eagle Rare. At $17, it was more than reasonable. They were unable to make Mojitos because they were out of mint but the Blueberry Moscow Mule was a worthy substitute, while others had wine. Our three choices of appetizers, Shareables as Draco calls them, were Draco's Crab Cakes, Hot Maple Bourbon Wings, and King Cole Duck Confit Poutine. The crab cakes (two) were a little on the small side while the other dishes were definitely large enough to share (with up to four people as an appetizer or as a single meal). The wings were served with fries, veggie sticks, and garlic aioli. They were a little spicy for some but had good flavour. Good but nothing unique or outstanding. The duck confit was very good, with a decent amount of duck. Crispier fries would have made it better. The most popular entree for the evening was the Holden County Beef Ribeye steak, followed by the Maple Mustard King Cole Duck Breast. Although we had selected the Wild Boar Chop as our third choice, nobody ordered it. My steak was cooked properly medium-rare, as I had requested. It was tender and juicy and matched well with the cauliflower puree, grilled king oyster mushrooms, and demi glaze. The duck must have been as good as it looked, or better, because nobody offered a taste. Geez, I thought we were friends. These were two very good dishes! For dessert, we had selected Cheesecake Spring Rolls, Muskoka Lodge Brulee, and Beavertail Bites. Nobody ordered the cheesecake. The brulee was perhaps the prettiest presentation of the evening, served in two cups, most likely for sharing. Comments told me it was good but no sharing (with me). I had the beavertails and it was nothing like I remembered from the Yelp event. It was very dense, not at all like how I remember it. I had to use a knife to cut it. I recall it being more like a donut. I mentioned it to our server and she offered to bring me something else but I was already kinda stuffed. I wasn't charged for it. Throughout the evening, the service we received was excellent! The staff were very attentive, courteous, and professional. We ended up spending a considerable amount of time chatting and catching up with each other, even after we had paid our bills (they were split without any fuss). We never felt rushed to leave, even when we were the only ones left in the place. We felt a little guilty but other guests arrived for drinks so a friend and I ordered another round. She had another glass of wine and I ordered their signature cocktail, Draco's Smoked Old Fashioned. This was now the presentation of the night, worthy of several photos. The drink was mixed at the bar, transferred to an attractive bottle, where smoke was introduced and then capped. I was presented with a glass at our table, with a single spherical ice cube, larger than a golf ball, and then the server poured the drink over the ice. You could definitely smell, and then taste, the smoke. Excellent cocktail! I had several of these at the Yelp event but not with this presentation. This alone is worth five stars! It was a totally enjoyable evening of good food, great service, and very dear friends, but there's more. Howie Mandel, renowned Canadian funnyman, TV host, and judge on America's Got Talent, was with a group at the table next to us. We respected his privacy but he knew that we recognized him so he came over to our table when he was leaving and chatted with us for a few minutes. He told us he was there with family (he's from Willowdale) and he was heading to Denver for a show the next day. Nice guy. We should have asked him to pose with us for a group photo. The Terrace is a great Canadian inspired restaurant located INSIDE the Marriot. In the heart of Downtown Markham, this patio has a great view and an amazing atmosphere. The patio is on the third floor right across from the movie theatre which could be an amazing date night or even a night with your best friends. Love this establishment. I live so close by that I can literally walk. Nestled inside the new Marriott hotel, this restaurant has always a nice ambiance to chill out and I wish more people would try out this place as it is totally underrated, waiting to be discover. For some reason, Wednesdays evening always seems to be the most busiest with the bar being packed but for other days and nite, even on a friday or on a saturday, it was dead quiet. I had a girls nite gathering one weekend. not just the food was delish but the atmosphere was amazing and being the only few tables in the dining room, we had excellent service as the waitress was so dedicated. I go so often now that the waiters are starting to recognize me LOL Draco has breakfast, lunch, dinner and sunday ACYE Brunch. If eating is not what you are up for, try their unique drinks at their far. Free parking on P2 and P3 - just go up but be careful when doing the turns. DRACO continues to stand at 5 stars for me! After 3 months, cocktails are still strong and on point. The smokey Old Fashioned is still A-mazing - sweet and smokey, and always my go-to. I'm back (again!) to celebrate a double birthday for a pair of twin brothers :) I'm so glad they chose Draco! The food this time around really impressed me; definitely less salty! I ordered the Wild Mushroom Linguine from the Specials Menu, and it was very satisfying and filling. This dish was made with a light pesto sauce, some Parmesan cheese shavings, and lots of delicious wild mushrooms! I would also recommend The Brisket Burger! The meats were juicy and full of flavour from the creamy blue cheese. The Lobster Grilled Cheese was also a favourite! The side of fries with ketchup was already very good on its own. You may wish to upgrade it to a Duck Confit poutine with gravy! For drinks, other than the Smokey Old Fashioned, I would recommend the Rosé Sangria, Elderflower Fashioned, Peach Bourbon Smash, Lychee Twist, Blueberry Moscow Mule... tbh, you can't really go wrong with any of their cocktail creations! Draco also specializes in crafted Bourbon - sample their bourbon flights to find your favourite! Woodford Reserve is by far my favourite brand :) For dessert, the birthday twins each received their own dessert platter on the house :D! We stayed at the Marriott so we had brunch downstairs at Draco one day. We had to show our vaccination passports to be able to dine in. The employees were very attentive and nice. It was pretty empty besides three other tables from us, so everything was quick. I ordered avocado toast and it was tasty. The avocado part had flavor to it and wasn't just watery with pepper flakes on it. I know it's just avocado toast but I've had more bad avocado toast than good and this one was good! Perhaps next time we'll try more of the menu but it was good so far, not bad but not amazing. read more

This place is really cute and has a great view but that's where it ends. We ordered truffle fries, the charcuterie board and the duck hoisin flatbread. The truffle fries were really good though nothing to write home about. The portion is also very generous. The duck hoisin flatbread really depends on your tastebuds. The duck and the sweet hoisin sauce are an unbeatable duo but I'm not so sure about the blue cheese added on it. I found it very overpowering and funky and I did not enjoy it at all. The charcuterie board left me disappointed. For $25, we got 2 pieces of brie, ~6 crackers and 4 different cured meats. The amount of meat we got was very generous, I'll give them that but the same cannot be said about the amount of crackers and brie. You could even write off the brie because the meats are the main focal point but the lack of crackers and the fact that the smoked duck was frozen and defrosted are unacceptable to me. The duck was very very cold and left a puddle and was wet to the touch. Honestly this place is trying to be an upscale Joey's and it just ends up being a Moxie's with nice cheese and patio. How to feel like a fancy downtown dweller when you actually live in the 'burbs. 1) Have a swanky cocktail lounge open near you. 2) Go to said swanky cocktail lounge. That's what a bunch of us Yelpers decide to do on a Friday night, living out our Sex and the City moments right here in Markham. Colourful alcohol and gossip flowed liberally. While I think nice cocktails are wasted on me (lightweight), I am in love with the IDEA of a nice cocktail lounge. Beautiful open space inside the Marriott with comfortable chairs and inventive drinks. Your sweet tooth would be delighted by their dessert cocktails like the flaming s'mores martini. For the more sophisticated palette, they've got a signature cherry wood smoked Old Fashioned, which comes in a bottle swirling with smoke. It's quite mesmerizing. I can personally attest to how nice and strong their cocktails are. Ordered the Lychee Twist thinking I'll get something sweet and fruity. What a surprising kick! Good drink still. We also ordered the Duck Confit Poutine which was good, but not amazing. The first few bites tasted fantastic, but probably because I was hungry and cheese, gravy, and potatoes are the ultimate hunger satisfier. But really, the duck was not particularly flavourful. The fries, however, were nice and crisp. I feel like that's consistent with the rest of their food here. Decent, inoffensive, not great but okay. They've got dumplings that cater to the Asian population and a really nice looking Charcuterie board. Personally, I wouldn't come here just for their food, especially at marked-up lounge prices. Wow! Never expected a place like this to land itself in markham! With the new fancy downtown markham, I guess it's found it's perfect home. This is inside the Marriott, right at the lobby. If I was staying at the hotel, I'd have an excellent time because I can just come down from my room and access A+ cocktails and delicious food. The service is on and off- sometimes it's excellent and sometimes you think it's the first time they ever served in their life (confusion splitting bills, bringing food to the right person etc) Most of the time it's been great for me. I think everything here is super super unique- cucumber ice cubes?? Insane. All the drinks have a lot of alcohol. No watered down, cheap bar shit here. The food looks delectable - charcutierie board with high quality mustard, duck confit poutine + lobster grilled cheese.. ugh, I'll die getting fat if this is the kind of food I get to eat. 3.5 Stars Draco is located at the Toronto Marriott Markham in Downtown Toronto. It's a beautiful open concept lounge in the lobby of the hotel. It was pretty empty on a Friday night and since we were a large party, we were given all three booths at the back plus a long table. The booths are large and comfortable. They've put multiple pillows in each booth too and they're the softest pillows ever! Highlight of my night : P. You have to "exit" the restaurant area for the bathrooms. I originally wanted to order the Flaming S'mores Martini but they were out of marshmallows. Also couldn't order the Campfire S'mores because of this. They said they could substitute it with mini marshmallows but it wouldn't flame as nicely : (. So instead, I ordered the For the Love of Chocolate ($11). They don't cheap out on the alcohol - for a dessert cocktail, it was stronger than I expected. I also didn't expect half my drink to be filled with whip cream. Sparkling Sake Mojito ($15) was refreshing. Again, you can definitely taste the alcohol in the drinks. Presented nicely and I would order it again. Seed to Sausage Farm Charcuterie Board ($16) was average. Nice presentation though. Markham Dumpling Platter ($12) comes with six dumplings. There are two of each chicken, pork, and vegetarian. It's pricey for what it is and I wouldn't recommend it. Draco's Smoked Old Fashioned - I didn't taste this (not my drink of choice) but the presentation is on point and the server will ask if you'd like to take a photo/video of it and will wait nicely until everyone has their cameras out! The service was mediocre and a little sloppy with small things here and there. Things such as not taking everyone's orders, forgetting orders, not bringing utensils where required, not splitting the bill properly etc. Again, I will say that we were a larger group but these things can be easily avoided if the server(s) pay a little more attention to detail. 3.5 I am excited that a "cocktail" lounge finally opened in East Markham! I want to sip on fancy cocktails when is perfectly balanced just like I can enjoy one Downtown Toronto. Draco Markham has a lot of potential. It is not perfect but since it is new, I hope they can and will improve down the road. Love the drink menu, it does includes a lot of the classic and the bartender is happy to make anything for you, just ask. We tried 4 different drinks and I did notice they were a little water down. Probably from the ice melting too fast in the shakers. For a cocktail lounge vibe, they really need to tune down the spotlights during after hours. The main lounge area lighting is just way too bright and white! Perfect for taking photos but not for sipping cocktails. Service was friendly and cheerful. I have not try the food as yet, maybe I will be back for that and some more drinks. read more

I'm so sad because I wanted to like this place! I really did! (Location:) This new restaurant is located right inside the new Marriott hotel they built by downtown Markham. At first glance, it is a high-end place, with fancy drinks, and cool decor. It also boasts a fusion menu (which is definitely one of my favourite cuisines). So, of course, I was excited to try! (Service:) Although the service was fine, I think we waited around 45 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we got our food delivered. There was nobody else in this restaurant, so I actually don't understand what took them so long. I also think that the server wasn't dressed to promote the same vibe that the entire restaurant was trying to emanate. (Food:) I got the LOBSTER GRILLED CHEESE, which came with a side of fries that I upgraded to DUCK POUTINE. The grilled cheese wasn't too bad, but left me feeling super gross and heavy afterwards (I guess I can't blame them for that, but I just didn't feel that great after eating it). The DUCK POUTINE was very simple, the cheese and gravy was nothing to write home about, and the added duck didn't enhance any flavours. (Price:) LOBSTER GRILLED CHEESE: $18 DUCK POUTINE UPGRADE: $4 (Overall:) Honestly, I wasn't really happy with this place at all. I went there on 01.14.2023 and although i did make a reservation, it is not that busy at all. The cod i ordered was cooked perfectly. The lobster ravioli that one of us ordered was ok. A little bit dry for the lobster and the steak frites that one of us ordered is not cooked the way he wanted it. Dessert was ok. We came to the Draco which is located in the Marriot hotel in downtown Markham! There is some parking east of Marriot at Enterprise and Market Drive, but the hotel also has some parking that you can use as well! We were excited about this restaurant because it's a new addition to Markham, I don't think a lot of restaurants get opened here! They also had decent reviews and it looked nice so why not! To be safe, we made a reservation for dinner around 6pm, but we didn't really need to make a reservation because it wasn't busy at all and it was a Sunday night, so you'd imagine it would be busy but most of the tables were empty! This restaurant is in the lobby of the Marriot, right at the entrance. It features modern decor and a very open space. It definitely on the higher end and it feels like a nice place to take out your family or go on a date! The food was faily mediocre though and on the more expensive side of things. I had the holden county brisket burger, it wasn't bad, but I think the burger at Milestones is far better. This burger was too wet and leaked a lot of meat juice and other liquids. On top of that, everybody else said there food was okay and nothing special, and the presentation was okay too. In the end it was a great experience, nice staff, good atmosphere albeit a bit dead, but mediocre food, so I probably will not return. read more

Ordered rhe chixken waffles again and enjoyed them. Though the food was still flavorful and our server apologetic, he insisted on giving us another latte as compensation. We were up in the area during the winter holidays, and we decided to meet a friend here for lunch. I'd seen some pics of the food on an IG food blogger, so I was interested in giving it a try. I don't know why I didn't realize it was inside the Marriott until we got there, so that was a tiny surprise, but it was totally fine - the decor is splendid, and it was pretty quiet. We started off with drinks, and I tried one of their signature seasonal cocktails - an Eggnog flip. It was excellent, a nice tasty adult Eggnog. It wasn't too heavy, just the right balance of flavor and booze. We also shared the duck confit poutine, which is one of my favorite things to order if it's on the menu. It was very good! I also had the mushroom risotto, which isn't really a thing I would normally order, but I decided to do something different. It was very nice, rice was tasty and plump, and the mushroom flavor was excellent. It's a bit on the pricey side for our budgets normally, but it was a really nice splurge at the holidays. read more
