    Lovely restaurant and great services. Very comfortable We orders the Prix, plus extra $30 for the 16oz . Also ordered the mocktail champagne, Tuna tataki as appetizers, streak, cheese cake for dessert

    Located at the corner of Birchmount and Enterprise. There is plenty of parking out back (be careful with all the construction happening) This is a Thai fusion with very well presented arrangements The restaurant is not very big and the seating was a little cramped. Not much privacy if that is what you are looking for. The staff are plenty friendly and prompt. They have a good understanding of the foods and the taste profiles to provide a good overview when you are undecided.

    Came here for both brunch and dinner. Dishes are Asian inspired and delicious. We had the chicken & waffle, and French toast for brunch. It was very filling and good mix of sweet and savoury options. For dinner, highly recommend sharing the dishes as most of them are quite heavy and you get a variety. Every dish was a hit with our party. Service was amazing for both our visits and the ambiance is very nice. Love the decor inside. Would be good if they can fix up their parking lot tho. Right now it's just dirt road and lots of pot holes.

    This is between a 3 and a 4 to me. The concept of the food is great. But it comes out either too salty or sweet. The restaurant is beautiful. The service was a bit weak but that's largely because we were a table of 14. I would still expect a restaurant that is targeting high end clients to execute better on service. Water glasses were empty for over and hour. Food was dropped on the table before cutlery was provided over several courses... We ordered short rib, broccoli, rice, oysters, Tuna tartar, basque cheese cake, ice cream, lobster dumplings, waygu shuimai. Short rib was ok. A bit sweet and salty. Broccoli sauce was not good. Tuna tartar was ok. Waygu shuimai was not as good as basic traditional version. Cheese cake was good. Rest was nothing to rave about.

    . the atmosphere was really nice! very well laid out with an asian twist . each table had good distance between each other . service was a 5/5! super friendly and accommodating + gave a little more indepth of each of the dishes when brought out . very cute valentines special (gave a polaroid) . truffle labeneh was the star of the show, didnt expect it to taste so well together - pickles, truffle and squash puree? once combined on a single pallet was a whole different experience . kfc sliders were tender and juicy, prominent korean taste . yam fries were okay, crispy~ the sauce tastes like store bought spicy mayo . mala cream udon was good, initial bite hits you with the mala taste then the creaminess comes in . mushroom fried rice was mediocre

    Tried the new brunch at Pears. The menu leans more Asian-fusion with creative twists, which makes it stand out from the typical eggs-and-toast brunch spots. Some of the dishes I really enjoyed were the bone marrow congee, which was rich, comforting, and something you don't normally see on a brunch menu. The fried chicken and waffles were also great, super crispy with a nice sweet and savoury balance. Another standout for me was the truffle bolo bao bun, which was packed with flavour and definitely one of the more unique bites we tried. For something sweet, the Thai tea French toast is also worth ordering. It's different from your usual brunch dessert and a fun way to finish the meal. Takeaway is that brunch feels creative and shareable, with bold flavours and a mix of influences that make it a little different from most brunch places. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a brunch spot that does things a bit differently.

    This was an high end restaurant that we were here for our anniversary. They had celebration policies that if average over $100/person, they will send you a cake with sparkling fireworks, and staff would sing the song. We had a fantastic night with great food and drink, but still not over $100/person, so we missed the cake. We got a drink called Toasted Sesame, which has sesame spirit, but I couldn't taste it; Golden Pear was more like sweet drink. Shrimp and Scallops Toast was appetizer that it actually tasted good with Thousands Island sauce. Our main dish was the Lobster Mapo Tofu, which was like Chinese Cruise mapo tofu. We enjoyed the night at Pears, and we would like to come back again.

    Came here as a party of 7 on a chilly Saturday evening. I usually don't comment too much about the ambiance and service of restaurants, as most places I go to are categorized as causal dining. Pears is an up-scale restaurant yet both the service and design of the restaurant leave a lot to be desired. Service: Not enough staff on the floor. Our water glasses were empty multiple times. We would let the server know, but he/she will promptly forget, causing us to ask again several times. We ordered the Peking duck, all the components of the Peking duck was place on your table all at once, except for the condiments. We waited approx 5 mins for the cucumbers & scallions, and another 5 mins for the sauces. By the time the sauces came, the Peking duck wrapper was cold and all stuck together. When ordering, the server asked if we want all our dishes (apps and mains, except for Peking duck) served all at once. We said yes - and the dishes got served one by one. I expected the server to be more attentive, especially since they were the one who initiated the question. Design: I don't think they put much thought about the cold Canadian winter. With the restaurant door opening to the street (e.g. outside and not into a mall), they did not install a fully enclosed "storm shelter". They have two doors at 90 degs to each other, but the ceiling of the "storm shelter" was opened. This mean, when the exterior door opens, all the cold air will rush into the restaurant via the ceiling. To make it worst, the exterior door does not close right away, and is often stuck, letting a lot more cold air in the restaurant. To the staff's credit, they typically promptly go and close the door. When I was there, 1/3 single stall washroom was not operating. This leaves one washroom for men, and one for women. I went to the washroom twice during the meal, and both times I had to wait and someone was waiting after me. With the restaurant at full capacity, one single stall women washroom is not sufficient, especially if the ladies would like to touch up their make up. Food: Now let's get to the food. For apps, the tuna, chicken satay and tempura broccoli were not that memorable. The outstanding app, was the shrimp toast. I was pleasantly surprised that the toast was light and crunchy, not drenched in oil. All components of the fried chicken slider blended together well. The fried chicken was crunchy and meaty. All the mains were well executed. The short rib was fall off the bone. They were generous with the crab meat for the curry rice dish. They also nailed the consistency of the curry for this kind of "ying yang" rice dish. The mushroom fried rice was served piping hot, which was extremely satisfying after getting occasional blast of cold winter air. The Peking duck was definitely a creative take. Splitting the duck into 4 dishes. The sliced skin definitely had a smokey flavour. My favourite was the duck confit legs. It would have been better if they put the legs on a bigger plate instead of having it stacked up, making it hard to cut without getting food all over the table.

    This is my third visit to Pears and it never disappoints. The Peking duck is obviously delicious with elevated presentation that makes the experience feel extra special. I also order the mushrooms fried rice every time, it's a must try. Our server Maya was incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout the meal. Thanks again :) Pears is the perfect spot to celebrate any occasion with its fusion Chinese fine dining and warm service in the heart of downtown Markham, highly recommend

    My friend and I had a wonderful time trying their prix fixe Pearlicious menu just in time! We decided to try two different items per course so we could try more things! The ambience is quite nice, def not kid friendly though in terms of the menu selection and the environment. I ordered one of their signature cocktails and that was a wonderful experience- the drink was as good as the presentation itself! Our server was very helpful in helping me pick my cocktail based on her recommendation! All the dishes were beautifully presented which I expect nothing less when it comes to @keith_pears ' creation. Appetizers: The foie gras chawanmushi was amazing - my friend who doesn't usually eat foie gras really enjoyed it! What a clever twist to pair with egg. The KFC sliders.... Were incredible . Every bite was delicious and the flavours were just perfectly balanced! The kick was just there not to overpower the slider and the chicken was perfectly fried. Entrees: bone marrow was amazing - I absolutely loved the flavours! The ginger garlic and shallots were perfect accompaniments to the marrow and I would have never thought to pair it with fried buns!! So interesting not to eat it with condensed milk for a change :) The shrimp angel hair pasta was also really good. The Szechuan was subtle but with each bite the numbness builds up. Amazing. Only thing is the portion is on the smaller side for a pasta dish and instead of whole shrimps it was more like 2 shrimps broken into pieces. But the flavours were great. Dessert: Pear tart - I see why this is a signature dessert. Incredible flavours . I absolutely loved the ice cream and how well it pairs with the pear tart. Basque cheesecake was nice and creamy and we opted to have more brown butter ice cream instead of truffle. It was just that good! All in all a wonderful experience and will def come back to try their regular menu!

    I really enjoyed taking my wife here for our anniversary and our server Jeff really helped make it special. All the food we ordered was delicious, especially the bone in Char Siu. Ambiance is absolutely beautiful and very photogenic. I am hoping to return again to find new items on their menu. Pricing may have been mentioned in other reviews as on the higher end but you are paying for an experience that comes with your food.

    I love this place, mainly because it is one of the only places in Markham that resembles the nice quiet dining vibe (with a bar) of downtown Toronto. My friends and I had a recent dinner here and we were very impressed by the quality of food and service here! I've been here before for drinks and they are also incredible. We ordered the following: - Mini Beef Tartarts: Crispy shell and tender raw beef. Such a delight to have and a great little appetizer for the table. 9/10 - Wagyu Beef Siu Mai: Usually siu mai is made with pork or fish, but it's not common that I see beef - let alone wagyu. And my oh my was this delicious - the beef was so fresh and juicy, and the addition of balsamic glaze on top gave it that sweet and sour kick. 9/10 - Shrimp and Scallop Toast: I liked this a lot in term of flavour. My only critique would be that the texture of the shrimp and scallop paste was a little too soft, almost as if it was still raw. As a result, when you bite into it it doesn't stay inside the slices of toast. I would've preferred it to be a little bit firmer. 7/10 - Curry Crab Egg with Fried Rice and Thai Yellow Curry: Wow. Just wow. This was a true star and captured the essence of a fusion dish. The fried rice is presented on one side with the curry crab on the other, and you are supposed to mix it together. Reminds me of Singaporean chilli crab! I was impressed with how much crab we got in this dish. 10/10 - Shrimp Angel Hair Pasta: Very buttery smooth sauce and was delicious; however in contrast to the fried rice I found this to be a small portion size. 8/10 Service was excellent and on par with other fancy restaurants I've been to in the GTA. We were a party of 6 and they were able to add 2 more pieces to every appetizer we ordered, which came as a standard of 4 pieces. I really appreciated that flexibility. Do note that the menu is a bit on the pricier side, you are definitely paying a premium for the beautiful decor and service. Recommend going here if there is a celebration or date night!!

    The flavours are fine, maybe a little on the muted side even. The crab curry was probably the most flavourful. If you're coming I would recommend this dish as it seemed to have the most pop and the portion was much more significant. The other dishes were all fine too but much less bold and smaller portions. Not really with it for the price point. The scallop shrimp toast, while visually attractive, was very difficult to eat. It fell apart with the slightest touch. For a restaurant of this type I also expected that the dishes would all come together but almost every dish came at a different time making for an awkward and clunky service. The kitchen and bar were also quite slow in general. Other things about the experience that weren't that good was the server spilled a bit of one drink and didn't replace it. Then the same drink also had a hair on the rim. Feels a bit sloppy for a restaurant such as this but I accept accidents happen. Given the chef participated in the Bocuse d'ore culinary competition and was on Top Chef, with a good pedigree, I wonder if some of the challenges are a result of being a newly opened restaurant and the kitchen under pressure from a full house. One I did feel they did well is the presentation. Everything was very visually attractive and for those who care, all the dishes were beautiful and Instagram worthy. I'm hoping they'll figure some of these issues and maybe I'll give them another try in the future.

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

When you enter, it's the front counter and a take out shelf (with LOTS of people ordering take out). There is a dining room to the left and to the right. I like that the tables are generously spaced apart, unlike some other dim sum places. Food wise, it's pretty decent, like any other dim sum place. I wouldn't say that it's anything special and no dish really stood out to me. We were a larger group so we ordered 2-3 rounds of stuff, and sometimes would just ask the server to add on a dish for us. I don't know if this was confusing for them or what because a lot of our dishes didn't end up coming. Of course, dishes that didn't come were not charged. The bill itself is a little confusing but they are happy to explain it to you. They were generous with the amount of beef and was well marinated. The cut wasn't that great, but that is to be expected. I don't think they added much MSG or at least used good quality ones, as we did not feel overly thirsty later in the evening. They give free daily soup and dessert. What we were most impressive was with the service. The waiters were very attentive, changing our plates twice during our 1ish hour meal. The also gave us wet wipes and more napkins without us requesting it. They even offered us additional soup, which we declined as we were quite full.

We came here also during CNY where they were selling delicious fried sesame balls- nice and crispy, and really addictive lol. We also tried their CNY poon choi, and really enjoyed it at home. It was perfect for 5 people; it had 5 servings of everything with toppings like abalone, chicken, duck, pig's feet, shrimp, sea cucumber, and all sorts of veggies. It also came with soup, crispy pig's skin, and 5 steamed glutinous rice wrapped with lotus leaves on the side. Just have to return the pot after to get $20 deposit back. Dinner was especially special for my grandpa's birthday as well. We had a 12 course meal with desserts + the longevity buns filled with red bean were beautifully presented on a tree- it looked so cool!
