    The Tom Yum Booze ($19)

Went with my girlfriends and tried the Premium Dailo's Choice ($155pp), every course was a surprise and each one impressed us. Portions were generous, and we all left satisfied. The Tom Yum Booze ($19) had a great spicy kick, and the Tiramisu ($18) was the perfect sweet extra on top of the already included dessert. Our 5:30-8:30 pm seating gave us plenty of time to enjoy without feeling rushed. Can't wait to come back and see what other surprises "big brother" (大佬) has in store!

DaiLo prides itself as serving New Asian Cuisine. Which it describes as primarily Chinese cooking with French techniques and flourishes. While I'm hesitant to fully embrace the "New Asian" label (many dishes felt more Contemporary Californian to me), I can't help but admire the inventiveness and creativity on display. Even when a dish didn't quite land, the ambition was clear. Aside from the food, the interior strikes a beautiful balance between intimate and spacious, with warm lighting and thoughtful decor. Service was equally exceptional as i felt well taken care of all throughout service and felt the passion of the staff. Crispy Octopus Taco: The Jicama Shell was an interesting substitute to a standard tortilla, but I found myself missing the soft bite as opposed to the Jicama's crunch. he sambal aioli leaned too subtle for my taste, lacking the punch I hoped for. The octopus itself was well-prepared, but the overall dish lacked a wow factor. Fried Watermelon: One of DaiLo's secret menu items (along with the Big Mac Bao), and it did not disappoint. The crisp, spicy, fried exterior makes way to the juicy, watermelon center in the most delightful way. The pickled watermelon rinds also served as a great palate cleanser. Panang Fried Eggplant & Burrata: Great individual components. The fried eggplant was lovely, even though the flavor of the eggplant was somewhat masked. The burrata and arugula herb salad was light and refreshing. But the whole dish was not greater than the sum of its parts. Fried eggplant and a light salad felt disjointed. Sweet & Sour Pork Hock: My least favorite dish of the night. The dish was far too dry and tough. Even it's accompanying sauce, which was too sweet, couldn't save it. Pea Dumplings: A standout. A masterful showcase of the pea's natural sweetness. The beurre blanc was delicate and perfectly buttery. The mushroom added a kick of umami. Bright, vegetal, and summery. Smoked Duck Bokkeum: A potpourri of different vegetables. A maximalist dish where every bite felt new. The duck was also wonderfully prepared. Truffle Fried Rice: A quite standard affair. Not bad, but not worth it when the menu has so many other interesting options.

Here for the summerlicious. From appetizer to dessert, every dish was a flavour bomb: perfectly seasoned, beautifully balanced, and full of creativity. We also ordered the Phaux Carpaccio (off-menu) and wow, it's like eating pho in the most unexpected and fun way! It's rare these days to walk out of a restaurant loving everything. But this? This was one of those rare, happy belly, happy me moments. I left full and smiling. Amazing service, and a dining experience that hits all the right notes. We're already planning to come back for the tasting menu.

A small menu but with interesting options. We ordered mostly from the appetizer section and had one main as advised by our waiter. I appreciated that each dish had their unique qualities and unexpected pairings. For example, the octopus tacos were served on a jicama shell which provided a light crisp texture, which worked well with the octopus. The standup dish for the night was the eggplant and burrata. Again, an unexpected pairing that worked really well. A close second was the chicken as we loved the rice and the sauces. The only dish of the night that didn't impress was the brown butter fortune cake. I found the cake to be quite stodgy and didn't like the toppings.

All around one of my top fave Toronto restaurants. Staff and service is amazing, food is superb and vibes are great. I saw a few people debating online about whether to do à la carte or tasting menu and I think you can't go wrong with either. As long as you get the duck and the dumplings also the Vietnamese coffee dessert was amazing.

Came here when I visited Toronto in May for a solo dinner. The food and service were impeccable. Everyone was so welcoming and attentive! The food was fantastic! I did the premium tasting menu with the wine pairing. I had course after delicious course until I couldn't possible eat another bite. They tailor the tasting for each customer so no menu, but I can guarantee you'll love all of it! I will def be back next time I'm in Toronto! The restaurant is very casual and feels like a neighborhood place rather than the fancy incredible restaurant it is. That is very much on purpose.

As an Asian fusion restaurant, every dish at this place is truly unique, with flavors that surprise and delight without missing the mark. We went with the regular menu, and the restaurant thoughtfully curated a selection based on our group size. Everything was exceptional and definitely worth trying. The Crispy Octopus Taco combined tender braised pork belly with fried octopus, wrapped in a white radish "shell" that was subtly prepared to remove its original spiciness, making the dish less greasy overall. The Fried Watermelon + Sweet & Sour Pock Hock was a surprising combination--fried watermelon may sound odd, but the warm, juicy texture paired perfectly with the tangy pork, creating a balanced and refreshing dish. The Truffle Hainanese Chicken was another highlight--slow-cooked to perfection, the chicken was tender and juicy with a delicate hint of truffle aroma, avoiding the usual dryness. I highly recommend the three cocktails: The Sleeping Turtle, Tom Yum, and Hong Kong to Vietnam--they are all delicious and complement the food wonderfully.

Went here on a Saturday evening, make sure to make reservations because this place gets really busy. The service was great, really friendly staffs. We got the tasting menu, really creative and wonderful dishes. Our favourite dish was the main, it was the khao soi, the beef was so flavourful and it melts in your mouth. They also great some great cocktails but they are on the pricier side. Good place for special occasions!

Came to celebrate a friend's birthday. The food overall was good and quite filling after the tasting menu. The flavours were good with some dishes having very bold and heavy flavours. The service was excellent. The wine corking fee was quite expensive.

After constantly hearing great things about Dailo, we visited it on a Tuesday night and ordered the entire menu. Needless to say, it was a fun and delicious experience. Since we ordered the entire menu, the chef decided to reward us with even more complimentary off-menu items. We were totally stuffed by the end of it. Service was great as they scaled the portions for each dish perfectly so we could actually try one of everything, and the chef himself came out to prepare the dessert for us. Of nearly 20 dishes, my favourites were the duck, steak, and octopus taco, while the vietnamese tiramisu was also delicious. Overall it was a great experience!

DaiLo, meaning "big brother" or "big boss" in Cantonese, serves up French-inspired Chinese fare. Located in Little Italy along College St near Palmerston Ave, the restaurant has unique offerings with familiar Asian flavours in a creative manner. The restaurant space is big where the space is able to hold small or large groups. The menu is divided into smaller and larger plates meant to be shared or you can opt for a tasting menu option as well. There is also an Asian-inspired cocktail menu + wine list; several non-alcoholic options are also present. My friend and I recently dined at DaiLo for their Winterlicious menu ($75). I made reservations ahead of time for a Tues night dining time. Upon arrival at the restaurant, staff offered to check our coats. Once we were settled at our table, the waitress mentioned that the Winterlicious promo they were currently having was like a mini tasting menu (compared to their regular tasting menu at $115). We both decided that the Winterlicious menu would be worth it and decided to get that. For our drinks, we both got the Tom Yum 'No Booze' (coconut water, lime, lemongrass, lime leaf, pandan, chili). The mocktail was delicious! It tasted like tom yum soup but in a mocktail. Cool thing was that the presentation of the drink also was unique where there was a "cloud" of ice at the top of the glass. Winterlicious menu wise, we all got the following items: - Smoked trout betel leaf (smoked trout, nahm jim, pomelo, lemongrass, shallot, nut crumble, coconut caramel dressing) - Crispy octopus taco (red braised pork belly, sambal aioli, jicama shell) - Hakka brown wontons (pork & shrimp wontons, toasted sesame oil, house xo sauce, almond crumble) - Dumpling pissaladiere (caramelized onion dumpling, black vinegar gastrique, brown butter crust, mushroom dash butter, black olive, truffle) - For mains, we chose the Hainanese chicken (foie fat rice, scallion ginger oil, confit garlic sambal, crispy garlic, & onion) and the whole fried giggie trout (nahm jim, green curry aioli, soy glaze). - Panang fried eggplant and burrata (arugula herb salad, pistachio pesto, tamarind glaze, chili crunch) - Aloe sake sorbet (candied ginger, ginger syrup) - Yuzu olive cake (compressed persimmon) - Soju poached pear (Szechuan coconut, chantilly, Saskatoon berries) Highlights for me were the smoked trout betel leaf, dumpling pissaladiere, whole fried giggie trout, the aloe sake sorbet, as well as the yuzu olive cake. All the dishes were unique in their own way but the textures and contracting flavours worked well for all of them. The Panang fried eggplant and burrata was interesting as these items are usually not thought to be paired together. The Hainanese chicken for me was a bit of a letdown as I felt that the reinvented dish here strayed too far from the original. Overall though, the items on the Winterlicious menu were tasty and my friend and I were left feeling full and satisfied! Overall, great vibes, food, and tasty food!

One of the best fusion restaurants I have visited for a while! The complexity of the carpaccio is nothing like a traditional European way of presenting. It has a tinge of sweetness underneath, I suppose it is a bit of hoisin sauce? But adjusted, and sweeter. The dry aged steak was amazing and plated so well. You can chew through the juice in the steak and the fatty aroma in the skirts. Truffle fried rice and duck was well done but not as tasty as the other two. Service was decent as well and the ambiance was great.

The tuna and salmon tasted very fresh, and the sweet-spicy Korean-style sauce made the whole dish feel bright, refreshing, and really appetizing. I also loved the potato dumplings.. crisp on the outside, but soft and pleasantly chewy inside, with a very smooth texture. The arugula salad was a great complement and added a nice fresh balance to the meal. The real standout for me, though, was the kalbi. It was incredibly tender and full of rich flavor. It almost melted in the mouth, with that satisfying buttery, savory richness that meat lovers would definitely appreciate. The cocktails were also fun and well done. I tried a few, and all of them were enjoyable. Some even had a smoky presentation, which made the experience feel a little more special. The service was another strong point. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the dinner feel smooth from start to finish. Everything came out at a comfortable pace, and the overall hospitality really added to the experience. I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. I could certainly taste the nutty oil that always makes my taste buds sing, but would have liked more of the gochujong as there wasn't much heat to the egg. In fact, aside from the sesame oil these tasted like any other deviled egg. Swapping the bacon bits for chopped kimchi may give it that element it's missing and make the dish vegetarian-friendly to boot. Similarly, the kimchi was lost within the ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan mixture in the toasted kimchi ravioli ($13). Chances are any ingredient wouldn't be able to hold up against the swiggle of honey wasabi pesto piped on top of the crispy ravioli as the wasabi was so pungent and overpowering. Some reviewers rave about this dish, but I found the panko crust made it too dry and the pasta was overly chewy. It's not one I'd order again. The bulgogi sliders ($15) were good with a pile of thinly sliced sweet-soy marinated sirloin topped adorned with a perfectly cooked quail egg, which is runny so makes for a messy first bite. The sliders would be even better if there wasn't wasabi in the mayo (Té's chef certainly loves wasabi) and the buns were warm and toasted. If you really want to try the bulgogi I'd opt for one of the main dishes instead. Té's bi bim bap ($17) follows a traditional recipe where the beef is accompanied by cold sesame-marinated vegetables and a fried egg. They swap out the white rice for nuttier purple rice instead and Té's sweet chili sauce is thicker and spicier than other ones I've tried. Sadly, the bi bim bap wasn't presented in the typical hot stone bowl. That vessel is so important as it creates the crust on the bottom of the rice and the heat warms up the cold garnishes and sauce so that once everything is mixed together the flavours really melt and meld together. There's plenty of bulgogi on top of their mac and cheese ($18) and the pasta was excellent as well. I enjoyed the creamy gooey cheese sauce and the parmesan panko crisp on top adds a lovely textured crunch for those who want an extra pop of flavour. For the price I expected much better, and I'm a bit disappointed because it was like they just slapped some bulgogi on an egg and called it a day. Service was okay and the restaurant was cute, but I'm not sure I would go back.

The service is always good, with attentive servers and hosts. They have a fairly extensive menu with a variety of food. From salads, to noodles, to rice, to various snacks, drinks and desserts, they'll have something for everyone. We got the black curry cutlet and the black curry cheesy beef. Both were delicious and a good portion size. The cutlet was crispy and beef was nicely cheesy. Both come out on sizzling plates and very hot, so be sure to wait to take the first bite, as tempting as it may be! The restaurant does fill up fast during peak hours so be prepared to wait in those time. However, I've noticed most people eat and leave so I don't think it'd take long to get a table, unless it's super busy. Overall a good spot for reasonably priced and yummy food, for a casual day out! :)

I got the cheese house spicy beef rice that came on a sizzling plate. I think it looked better than it tasted but I did enjoy that it came on a sizzling plate and it kept my food warm for a long time. My friend got a vegetarian dish (assorted vegetable rice) and I did find that better than mine. Lots of seating and the restaurant was very clean as well. I would def come back to try another dish of theirs!
