One of my go-to options when I'm on campus & hungry! I always get the cold sesame noodles, they're deliciously tangy and have a nice lingering spice that makes me want to eat more. The other noodle dishes I've tried from here have been consistently good as well. They let you select what noodle thickness you like, and I think the thick flat noodles were too big for me, I was making a fool out of myself trying to slurp them all up ! I recommend getting medium ones so sauce doesn't splash all over you like what happened to me! A great, affordable meal option.
Stopped in for dinner with a party of 3 and was surprised that it wasn't too busy. We were immediately seated and greeted by the staff and the menu had a lot of options for noodles, soups, and appetizers. I got the beef hand pulled noodles and the large portion was ginormous and extremely worth it for the price. The playlist was also very good that was on during our dinner. The lamb skewers were also really good and you have the option to either have them made spicy or non spicy. I would definitely come back to this location.

This is a solid spot for noodles in downtown Toronto if you're just looking for a meal to get full. The portions are generous, and prices are reasonable. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant can accommodate both small and large groups, along with solo diners. However, the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible.

I had their Moolan original beef noodles. I felt that the portion of beef was a bit small given the price, and overall the flavour was quite bland. I think I would have enjoyed their braised beef noodles more which is similar to the Taiwanese kind.
Mogouyan Hand-Pulled Noodles is a great place for freshly prepared noodles. I had shrimp noodles with a pickled egg and it was just amazing. I went slightly before closing time but the hostess was generous to have me in. The service was pretty quick too and the noodles are made right in front. The portions were generous. It was pretty satisfying experience.
There seems to be more than few choices in the neighborhood for noodles but I'm happy I chose Mogouyan. The hand pulled noodles are deliciously tender as was the beef. I followed the lead of the waitstaff on spice levels and he was right - level two was plenty. If you like all things cephalopod don't miss the grilled tentacles - delicious. The servings are generous and the aforementioned waitstaff is friendly.

Soups came hot and the serving size was good. The chicken and beef skewers were just OK. The seasoning was the same on each, so there wasn't much of a flavour difference. This is a good place to grab some nice hot soup which is open late into the night.
Insanely good hand-pulled noodles at Magouyan!! We had their signature stir fry with prawns and thick round noods and the beef noodle soup with angel hair noods. Wow were these dishes incredible tasty. Noddles had bounce, some chew, and held the flavor well. Service was prompt and attentive, and the ambiance was lovely but low key. Very highly recommend and we would definitely go back!
Came here on Tuesday evening and we both enjoyed a piping jot bowl of thin but wide noodles with beef and that delicious chili oil. I love the herbs they put in which really bring it to the next level. I will definitely return. Service was great and pretty attentive.
So glad I randomly found this place when I was visiting the bakery a few doors down. I didn't know what to expect, but I was not disappointed. I ordered the grilled tentacles and shrimp stir fry and both were amazing. The tentacles were perfect, not rubbery, and the stir fry was amazing. I can't handle spice, but the level 1 had a little kick, but nothing that couldn't be handled. Our servers were great and I look forward to going back.

This, I cannot recommend. Noodles were quite starchy and the dish was very heavy on the oil. Moreover, there is not enough "stuff" and ~95% noodle. Also, tried the deep fried vegetable dumplings. Again, Not a fan. Bottom line, come here for the generously portioned and delicious beef noodle soup!

I got the Braised Beef Noodles with classic noodles. Great food! I am traveling in Toronto for work and stopped by when I started craving home cooked beef soup. I am taiwanese and I have to say this was delicious. There is someone actually making noodles in the back. Service was quick and very nice and upbeat. My server was Kelly and she was great- I ate in and took what I didnt finish to-go and she even separated my noodles from the broth! The mango green tea was also fantastic. Thank you! read more
Toronto Review 4/Many: I went to this excellent Lanzhou spot with another person as one of my earlier meals. Our server, Sophia, was bubbly and friendly, giving suggestions and helping with the ordering process for the other person who wasn't as sure what they wanted. We eventually went with two appetizers and two entrees, which was more than enough food, and honestly, we could have only ordered one appetizer. The better of the two appetizers was the CAD 8.95 Hand Shredded Pepper Chicken/手撕椒麻雞/Shou Si Ji. The dish consists of cold chicken in a flavorful sauce, topped with some greens. The chicken was tender, with a mild, pleasant spice and a bit of numbingness from the Sichuan peppercorns, along with some fragrance, presumably from sesame oil. It reminded me a bit of salivating chicken you find in some Szechuan spots, but it was more aromatic and a bit less spicy. The other appetizer was the Steamed Edamame/岩鹽毛豆 with Himalayan pink salt for CAD 5.95. The other person chose between this and the vegetable dumplings, as he avoids pork, and it was, of course, lighter than the other appetizer. The decent portion of edamame was topped with some pickled carrots as a garnish. My main dish was the Braised Beef Noodles/紅燒牛肉面/Hong Shao Niu Rou Mian. The dish included several options, including size, noodle style, and spice level. I chose the large for CAD $20.95, medium spice, and for the noodle style, I chose flat/宽面, as it was closest to the prism style I like at Lanzhou spots in the States. Along with these, I also added a tea egg for an extra CAD 2.95. Outside the add-on, the dish also had a couple of large slices of radish. Compared to some spots in NYC, I slightly preferred the QQ/bouncy texture of the noodles at a spot near me. However, the broth was better here with a balanced amount of mala, though I would likely order spicy next time, as I tend to add chili oil to the relatively lighter Lanzhou broths. The beef was also much better, being tender with a mild chew regardless of whether it was tendon or other cuts. The tea egg was flavorful and worth the add-on, especially when the inside was dipped further into the broth. I can see why others order this. The other person went with the Signature Stir-fried Noodles/招牌炒面/Chao Tatiaozi. There was an option of protein, and he went with Chicken for $17.95 and added the same egg. I tried a bit, and there was a pleasant pepperiness with a bit of numbing flavor, but less than my dish. The noodles had a good bounciness and overall had a slightly better chewiness than mine. This was lighter overall, but also tasty. This spot has apparently come to the US already at the Mall of America, and I would love it if there were a location closer to me. Good place. read more
I got the braided beef noodles with round thick noodles and medium spicy, which turned out to be the perfect level of spicy for me. The noodles were chewy with good bounce, broth was rich and flavourful and delightfully spiced but the meat wasn't as tender as it should be. It came with 2 slices of turnip on top (looking at the picture it looks like potato but its turnip) and I would say portion size is decent. The restaurant is a LOT bigger than what it appears from the outside, its a deep oblong shape so there is plenty of seating including booths inside. Great lunch spot on a cold day. read more

So this is a new location in square one in the food hall area. They have a nice seating area and the service is good. The price is really good and you get a lot of food. We only got the regular size and were very full. We got the round and thick noodles which were nice and chewy. The soup was well balanced and had a good spicy kick. If you're not into spicy food though, you have the option to select the level of spice or no spice at all. Honestly, a nice warm meal with fresh hand pulled noodles that won't break the bank. Definitely coming back again. read more
If you're looking for long life noodles Mogouyan will not disappoint. Perfect bite noodles and the beef broth will make ypur tongue sing. Cucumber salad is a fresh rebalance for any spice you add. Can't wait to come back and try the flat noodles. read more
The noodles are being pulled in the front window as is tradition in these sorts of places. I feel sort of like a voyeur watching them ply their trade, but it sure is great marketing. Felt very authentic to these sorts of hand pulled noodle shops, though, and that held up as I entered. Inside, there was plenty of seating laid out in booths and a few tables in the middle, with just a few bar seats. The ambiance was on par with good Japanese ramen restaurants, so you can tell there was a lot of care taken in the presentation, in the lighting, the materials chosen. The wood grains were very inviting, and the brass light fixtures on the ceiling were mysterious and organic to match. The service was great and helped me read 牛肉炸酱面 niúròu zhàjiàngmiàn because I couldn't read the last three characters but it's also good to hear the waitress speaking Chinese. The jasmine green tea was serviceable. Despite my illiteracy, I didn't end up ordering the 炸酱面 zhàjiàngmiàn, I went with their flagship 牛肉面 niúròumiàn, or a variant of it, the 牧蘭典藏牛肉麵 mùlán diǎncáng niúròu miàn. It was fantastic. The noodles were perfectly QQ and the soup was well balanced. I drank it down to the last drop. Embarrass- and astonishingly, the soup came out in less time than it would take me to make instant noodles. This place is going to be hard to beat today. Well worth it. read more

I came to Toronto for business and was craving some yummy Chinese food and came across this restaurant. The server recommended that I order the beef braised noodle soup as it is very popular. They offer multiple hand pulled noodle options for each noodle soup so I picked the thick noodles! The noodle soup came with large chunks of braised beef, radish, and an egg which I added. Everything was cooked in an amazing broth which was mildly spicy. I also ordered a scallop appetizer dish which was plated nicely in shells. The scallops were cooked with noodles. Everything was delicious and it was a good meal to end my trip! read more

Food: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 This place was a highlight of my short Toronto trip last October. Me any my friend came back here multiple times cause it was that good! The beef noodle soup was hearty and flavorful. It had a nice mala spice, which is signature of Shanghainese cuisine. I also tried the Dan Dan noodles, which were equally flavorful. If I had to pick between the two, I would say it would depend. It's all good! I also really loved the ambiance here. Located in downtown Toronto, this restaurant is a really nice and chill escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Perfect place to have lunch or dinner in a quieter setting. The service was excellent. Quick, friendly, and accurate. The owners were really chill too, I got to learn more about Mogouyan via a conversation with them. I hope they open a location in California! Overall, great place for Shanghainese food. I'm definitely coming back on my next Canada trip! read more
Met up with some friends to get some noodles before our show at the Ed Mirvirsh Theatre. 3/4 of us opted for soup noodles, and 2 of us decided to share their hand shredded chicken appetizer. Unfortunately the chicken was extremely saturated with numbing spice, and we weren't able to taste anything afterwards so I'm actually not sure what my broth or noodles tasted like. However, the service was prompt and straightforward, and there were lots of seating and booths inside of the restaurant. I would be down to try again, but maybe will avoid the chicken next time. read more

Fast and friendly service. Clean looking interior. Pretty simple menu. Bonus: our server asked us if we like green onions and cilantro because of the soup we ordered. We are ok when they are used as toppings but I have friends who can't do cilantro (soap gene) so I know they would've appreciated that! We came here for a late lunch around 2 on a weekday, and we had no issues getting seated right away. This location is right outside the Eaton Centre mall. We had the lamb skewers, chicken wings, braised beef noodle soup (thin flat noodles), and the fish "buns" for dessert. Everything was so delicious and flavorful except the chicken wings were kind of basic and small. Would probably skip next time. But they tasted fine. Everything came out quickly and was nice and hot! The lamb skewers had that perfectly seasoned cumin flavor and was pretty tender. The braised beef noodle soup had a yummy (a little bit salty) broth, tender beef, and the noodles were so yummy and definitely tasted handmade. We also added their spiced egg to our soup, and the egg was so good! Should've gotten 2... The fish bun desserts were nice and fresh from the fryer. They were filled with red bean, also tasty. Definitely recommend checking this spot out. Decent prices and fast/friendly service! It looks like there are a few other locations around downtown also. They accept credit cards. read more

This restaurant has been on my bookmarks list ever since I tried their food as part of a Yelp event, and so naturally thought of it when a craving for noodles came on. Although prices did increase as expected compared to the past, I'm happy to report no simultaneous shrinkflation or quality decline. Their bowls of steaming, flavourful soups and chewy, perfectly cooked noodles are as huge and delicious as I remembered. Another pleasant surprise was that the service has not backslid at all either. The waitress was conversational and welcoming (disclaimer that the place was not extremely busy when we were there), patiently explaining the different noodle types, efficiently bringing us water without being asked, and generally making our experience there very enjoyable. There's a reason this noodle chain has maintained its high Yelp ratings! Would definitely revisit. read more

We were quickly sat and order was taken. Everything came out pretty fast too. Our favorite thing here were the lamb skewers. The meat was tender and flavorful. The beef skewers were not as tender, but a bit dry. We ordered the braised beef noodle soup and the dan dan noodles, both at level 3 spice. Not sure if the spice level also affects the salt level, but I could only eat half my noodles. My bf forced himself to finish the rest of his. We drank so much water. read more

WOW! You know the spot is good, when you get there at 1137 (opens at 1130) and there are already people seated!! I was super excited to try this spot after seeing the noodles being made fresh when walking by! They did not disappoint! After being seated, we placed our order. We got: the Braised beef noodle soup..2 spice level, small noodles and hard boiled egg. - Chicken skewers - Passion fruit iced tea Note: If you're not sharing or not super hungry get the small soup! The soup - Everything was amazing about this. The presentation, serving, flavors, spices, hotness of the broth, fresh soft noodles!!! The braised beef was packed with flavor and soft! Everything complimented each other! The passion fruit tea was sooo refreshing, and not sweet! The size was enough for 2 people! The chicken skewers were a little on the super thinly sliced side..which gave it a dehydrated look and bite! It was well seasoned though! If I lived close I'd definitely be a regular! read more
Was walking past a row of Asian restaurants and stopped to watch the guy making fresh noodles in the window. Did not expect to find authentic Lanzhou noodles inside! This is a real treasure and the only bad part was I couldn't finish everything in the regular sized serving. Great service, cozy atmosphere and so glad I stopped in! read more

The service was pretty fast (highly important when you're hungry lol) Our waiter was efficient and funny with recommendations and order taking! The interior felt a bit tiny but that's typical downtown spaces. Dishes were freshly made, tastes decent and pretty authentic! The beef slices on their classic noodles tasted really good with the broth! read more

Was a fun and different experience. Found this on yelp and walked from our hotel. Took a bit for our server to come but he was great. He provided good suggestions. We ordered the beef skewers and signature noodles with shrimp. Food came out quickly. Skewers were different but very good. Noodles was a huge serving. We got little scissors to cut the noodles since they were so long. Shrimp was also very good. read more

The food here was incredible, fast, and a great value. The staff is so friendly and made great recommendations for us. The location is smaller but clean and in a great location. Those that were dining ranged from a table of 1 to a table of 14. Can't wait to come back here again! read more
