3.5 stars. The ramen was so comforting and savory. Definitely hit the spot. Had the Pork Shoyu with thin noodles. The pork was tender and the broth was tasty. I liked the toppings though having an option of heat level would have been nice. Service was so so. The host greeted us and when we asked for a table along the back she very reluctantly gave us one saying they are saved for the dinner rush. We were there at 6:30pm so would think we are part of that "rush". When we left an hour later there were only a few her diners and two single diners were given Seats along the wall. So much for that dinner rush. Also no one ever came to check on us. Had to flag down for anything even the check. Though servers were grouped together on the side talking most of the time. Checked out this location last Saturday evening. I liked the atmosphere of this place - it was very bright and vibrant with a steady stream of customers. Service was pretty good too. Our waitress tried her best and was very pleasant. We did have to ask for things twice, but it was a busy Saturday evening. I ordered the chilled tsukemen which I really enjoyed. I liked that it came with an egg and the pork was very tender and had a nice smoky flavour to it. I also thought the portion size at this location was pretty big. I got the pork shoyu and my mom got the original pork ramen. This place is really close to downtown toronto which is convenient if you're near the area of the cn tower and ripley's. I really liked the vibes of this place and it looked really nice. I thought the ramen and the broth in general tasted really good. The ramen broth lacked taste but yet no matter what flavour you order had some spice (like heavy black pepper) to it. So my kids kept drinking water. My husband's value combo original pork's broth was runny like water and white in colour. I ordered the same pork ramen but regular menu which was not great but at least was more brown in colour which you would expect for a pork ramen. The whole family unanimously said we would not go back to this Kinton ever again and would go back to Sansotei at Union station food court which always tastes proper. We have had a lot of ramen before and even different Kinton location (and my husband had gone to this location before too), never had a bad ramen until this one. read more

We came here on a Saturday evening after a Jays game, and there was a long waiting list. The host offered us the bar seats and we agreed since we were quite hungry. There were hooks under the bar and we were able to hang out tote bags (instead of placing them on the ground) which is always great. The food was consistent with what I would expect from a KINTON. You can customize the hardness and thickness of the noodles. My only complaint was that they didn't give us water although we had reminded them twice. read more

There really is nothing quite so comforting as a tasty bowl of ramen on a cold winter night. My sisters and I decided to grab a quick but here before a Second City improv show in the same building, and it was such a great choice! When we first walked in at around 6:45pm, it was still pretty busy with the dinner crowd. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, that when you first walk in, they all shout hello to you in Japanese. It really makes you smile. We were seated by our lovely server, who was very attentive. I love getting the Pork Spicy Garlic Ramen, it's definitely my favourite, and always hits the spot. My sister, loves to get the vegetarian ramen, and we were so excited to see that they've added more veggie options recently. They have the Original Vegetarian Ramen, Shoyu Vegetarian Ramen, and the Spicy Garlic Ramen just to name a few! Kinton is criminally underrated nowadays! I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience last month at the Harbourfront location. It is close to my workplace and my coworkers and I picked it as a spontaneous Friday lunch spot. The menu has a great assortment of combos and individual sets that can be tailored to any group. For our group of 5, we ordered the Meal For Four (4 Signature Ramen, 1 Gyoza (Pork/Veggie), 1 Tokyo Fries or 1 Edamame, 4 Soft Drinks) and one individual ramen. My pork shoyu was delicious - I liked the texture of the noodles and tenderness of the pork. The broth was nothing too special but it was definitely tasty. The portion was great and I drank up all the soup. The gyoza was also a nice addition - as a tip, you can get one free gyoza for each ramen ordered if you show your Presto card, which is actually a fantastic value. Expect to spend $20-$25 per person including tax and tip. For the area (right by the Harbourfront), I think this is a good value. read more

We found this place on google and it was nearby and wanted to try ramen. I've never had ramen and this place didn't disappoint. We sat down immediately after walking in around 8:30pm on Friday. Ryan helped us by guiding us which Ramen to try and we selected the pork shoyu a special on the menu. The ramen tasted Smokey and it was very DELICIOUS! I would definitely have to try other ramen spots. Everything was cooked to perfection and the hot sauce added a kick. I was so full I couldn't finish everything I wish I was able to take it home but I'm pretty sure ramen is better fresh. The pomegranate lemonade was very sweet and had soda in it. I'm not a fan of very sweet drinks but it was tasty. You are able to have a conversation and everyone was pleasant. I am a regular here but I never formally reviewed the food. Got the meal for two and had a spicy garlic and shoyu ramen as well as veg gyoza for the side. I think the ramen portions have decreased in size sadly. Also disappointed that they up charge for the spicy ramen in the meal deal. If I remember correctly they used to give 6 pieces of gyoza as well but I guess that's inflation for you. Flavour is still great and will continue eating here. The harbourfront Kinton is well positioned to take on the lunch rush, but we also came in for an after work dinner. The restaurant is fairly large and still had quick service. The choices are simple and so we picked the Burnt Shoyu Ramen and the Original Chicken Ramen. The chicken broth was deep and flavourful, while the burnt shoyu really delivered on the smoky flavour. The egg was marinated well and had a gooey center. The pork had a nice distribution of fat and torched well, a bit stingy on the meat though as it only came with two small pieces, whereas the chicken was notably larger. A critical issue though is that their noodles did not catch the broth well. The broth is a bit thinner than expected, and the quality of the noodles allow the flavours to slide right off, leaving only a minimal of broth being slurped. The noodles were cooked well and had a good bite though. Overall, this Kinton is decent for a good quick bite especially after work. read more

Walking in, we were greeted right away. We were a bit reluctant to try this restaurant because of the low rating, but I am glad we gave it a try. It says a lot when my mom raves about it because she tends to only like her cooking and a very small selection of restaurants. My group got the family meal, which comes with 4 signature ramens, 1 gyoza, 1 takoyaki or edamame (we chose the takoyaki), and 4 pops. I thought it was a steal. My mom and I shared a bowl of spicy pork ramen, which I thought was actually pretty spicy, so I would not recommend to anyone who cannot handle their spice. I, on the other hand thought it was delicious, the ramen was the perfect consistency, the meat was well made, and the broth was perfectly seasoned. After awhile the spice does take a toll, so I couldn't finish it, but everything from the meat, noodles, and other ingredient were all consumed. read more

This review is a little late. We were in Toronto in October for a convention. We were starving when we arrived in Toronto and hadn't had dinner yet after getting off the plane. We drove by Kinton Ramen and that sounded really good. Plus they were open late. It was close enough to the convention center and hotels that we could walk there. We ordered the Meal for two which has two specialty ramen, 4 piece gyoza, and 2 sodas. We were so hungry I totally forgot to take photos of our meal. I decided to walk to Kinton ramen from my hotel to get some steps in and save an uber and somehow I left spending more than the uber eats deals & not for the right reasons. I ordered the meal w ramen (I chose Spicy beef) , vege Goza ( to my surprise OR/ fries), and a beverage ( I choose San Prllegrino) I added the chicken Karaage. Every step of the way was up charged, I understood asking for a few additional topings (I chose 2 which cost 4 dollars for seaweed and an egg) but the yam noodles was an absurd 6.00!, the spicy beef was 2.00 and I was not clearly told the San Pellegrino would be another 2.00 charge. I went in wanting to save on uber eats and bad hotel/upcharged food and wound up spending way more 53.62 to be exact. What's worse is the chicken was a tiny portion 3 small & fatty pieces for 9.00 and when I arrived back at the hotel I realized that not only did the sauce leak seafood smelling liquid everywhere but the "brisket that cost the original 23+ dollars was dry, tiny portioned 2 tiny pieces and like beef jerky & the ramen broth was barely portioned a cup. I also left a tip! It has been a long long long time since I have been this upset with any order. If the ramen was quality I would have seen justification but each step of the meal just felt like an outright gouge. I lived in Japan, I've never been charged for every single classic ingredient, I also can't see the justification for the price in any part of the meal. Save yourself frustration and disappointment / wasting your money at this establishment. The only thing that would make me happy is forgetting this experience ever happened. read more

I haven't been to many ramen restaurants. This would be my second time. And I might say, it's on the top of my list. The place is a bit small but comfortable, the ambience is very chill, you eat and you go. The team were very attentive, even though the line outside continuously growing. There were six of us and we all decided to get different flavours to try from each other's bowl. We opt for the 2 set and 4 set deal. It came with gyoza's and takoyaki . Might I say Yum!!!! We liked the sauce spread for them. So I am a spicy girlie and I suggest for anyone who is to the their Gekikara Chili Ramen. Best flavour I ever had and a good spice level. I quite enjoyed their summer maze (dry) ramen. It was different from others I've had and the portion was large. I believe it is 2x the noodles since there is no broth. Due to the amount of noodles, next time I would add extra meat of veggies. The sauce is a mayo based and heavy with fresh garlic. I also liked the spicy fire soup that they had on 9.99 special last month. ALSO, of the 3 vegetarian ramen i've had so far, the one from Kinton was my favourite! However, the boiled egg wasn't very good...It was overcooked and lacked flavor. The thin noodles were harder than I would have liked but that can be personal preference. You know a ramen place has bad broth when you have to ask for salt to give it any sort of flavor. Even that wasn't enough to get me to finish my noodles. I got the pork original with several added vegetable toppings. It was by far the blandest bowl of ramen I've ever had in my life. A huge disappointment. Did I get a severely watered down version or something? The karaage (fried chicken appetizer), chashu (barbecued pork belly), and ajitsuke tamago (seasoned egg) were all nice, but nothing special. The restaurant was clean with pleasant decor, and I appreciated the enclosed waiting area. The wooden benches were hard on my friend's bad back. The staff was fast and friendly, too, which is why I didn't give this place 1 star. This is based on take-out during the pandemic. It just isn't so great. It doesn't come together the way it should after you combine it together at home. I'll assume that it is a lot better if you eat-in and give it another chance once the restrictions are lifted. The restaurant looks nice inside and the service is friendly. Came here for the dinetogether special (one ramen + appetizer) - good overall dining experience. The place had outdoor seating on the street and service was pretty fast. The ton ton don came out within minutes after ordering. It looked unappetizing but had good umami flavours, texture reminds me of pork floss. However, it was a bit dry and needed more sauce in my opinion. I ended up adding some ramen broth to it which made it taste better. In terms of the ramen, I got the original which came with 2 fat slices of pork and an egg. The presentation was good. The noodles had a nice chewy texture to it. The creamy broth looked rich but lacked a depth of pork flavour you'd get from traditional ramen. The perfectly charred pork slices added a smoky flavour to the bowl, which I liked. The highlight for me is the egg - soft, runny orange yolk with a light umami soy flavour. This is an add-on side I recommend everyone get. Overall, a good bowl of ramen. read more

Good ramen spot! This is a very crowded location on weekday lunch hours, especially with all the offices around. I hadn't noticed before, but it seems like Kinton has changed their menu? I used to not like their ramen since I thought it was too salty, but now I find it pretty bearable! Their chicken options are definitely less salty than their pork counterparts, but all quite tasty. Their broths are nice and flavourful, and noodles are springy. Came here for work lunch. The ramen was good, pliable and smooth. Broth was a bit too rich for shaoyu, I prefer not too greasy, their Shaoyu I could see a layer of oil on top of the soup. Ordered takeaway through the website. Easy to use and ready for pickup very quickly. I like how they package the broth separately so the noodles stay firm and can be reheated before eating. We had the two dinner special which includes two bowls of noodles, gyoza (yum!), and drinks. Pretty good deal! Flavour wise, the noodles were tasty. I was surprised by how much broth they gave. A solid dinner experience with friends - reasonable quality, reasonable service, reasonable variety, reasonable prices - but as a Japanese person it's not where I go for ramen in Toronto. At Kinton I've ordered the tonkotsu miso and the classic tonkotsu (at the Queen location), and they're very heavily seasoned - pepper certainly, perhaps garlic as well. I find that this overwhelms the actual creamy, savory flavour of the tonkotsu. The toppings also aren't very generous - the miso offering doesn't include seaweed or the seasoned egg. Again, if your aim is a good meal with friends rather then the most gourmet or most authentic ramen experience, then Kinton Ramen absolutely checks all of the boxes. Their decor is clean, they have a wide range of side dishes, they have combos with sake (which I enjoyed), and they have seasonal offerings. Their multiple locations mean there's probably one nearby if you're hungry. read more
