A few blocks from University Ave, it's conveniently located on Queen street so you can get here by streetcar. The service was quick, the menu is small and you can customize your noodle and broth. They provide sides and sauces in case you want to add some spice to your ramen. The restaurant is clean and open. The broth is clean and feels nourishing. Perfect for a cold day!

I was really excited to try this out for my friend's birthday. They have you an order form per person to fill out, I picked black garlic ramen with hard noodles, light salt . It turned out it was on the bland side, I thought it was because I picked light salt , so I added some of the very salty seasoning liquid , but even with the salt added , the garlic flavor did not really come through. We got free dumplings for my friends birthday ( if you show them your ID that your birthday is on or plus or minus one day from the day of your visit, you get 'your age (in year) ' pieces of free dumplings , so we got 48 pcs! ), They are nicely pan fried with crispy edges , but they are on the salty side. The overall consensus, from our party of 7, was that the ramen was on the bland side. It was overall good experience.

Specializes in chicken broth ramen! You can customize how you like your noodles. I like mine slightly chewy so i opted in for hard and i really like it. Each bowl of ramen offers complimentary condiments and ramen sauce on the table to enhance the flavor for your palate. They also offer chicken kaarage and gyoza for apps!

Great ramen best chicken ramen in the city. Somewhat crowded and I've probably tripped on that one stair next to the front door 100 times. Service is good most of them only speak Japanese but it lowk makes the experience hella authentic yk it's hella chill and I fw the ambiance hella cool.

Didn't know there was a pork and chicken side to Ikkousha Ramen. The pork side seemed busier and we would have had to wait for longer, so we checked out the chicken side. Even then, we had to wait for about 10 minutes. This place was quite busy. The restaurant is small but lots of bright lighting makes it have a cheerful ambiance. This was appreciated on a cold, wintry evening. I ordered the Tori Chintan ramen and added the extra egg for $3. This was honestly such a delicious bowl of ramen. The broth was so flavourful and the ramen had a nice chewy texture to it. I also appreciated the extra toppings available on the table, like ginger and garlic. Portion size was a bit small. Service was great- always courteous and efficient. Our glasses of water were filled several times. I look forward to my next visit.

Ikkousha is my absolute favorite ramen spot, offering an authentic Japanese experience in Toronto. I love their God Fire Ramen--it's flavourful and perfectly spicy for my taste at level 1 spice. I am obsessed with the flavour of this ramen! I've visited both locations, but I prefer the chicken side of the God Fire Ramen because it was less spicy there. Nonetheless, both locations are delicious, and I keep coming back just for this ramen. Not to mention, the loyalty card is a great perk; you can earn stamps for a free gyoza after 5 stamps and a free ramen after 10. The service was great, the waitstaff were quick and friendly, even with the restaurant's busy atmosphere. The workers greet you as you enter and leave the restaurant which was fun and common at Japanese restaurants. This is a fast-paced environment, with the workers constantly moving back and forth so if you want a calm dinner, this might not be the best choice. Definitely worth the visit!!! 10/10

Felt like very authentic Japanese, down to the style of the seating and the ambiance. I had the god fire ramen level 4, which had a nice kick to it. I have a high spice tolerance, so I didn't think it was extremely spicy. The broth was so rich and it had the perfect amount of noodles. Plenty of fixings at the table to adjust the taste as well. Service was quick and efficient. It was snowing like crazy outside, so it was very comforting to have a nice warm bowl of ramen!

So I tried the best ever chicken ramen in Vancouver a few years ago and since then, been on the hunt to find finding the best chicken Ramen in Toronto that can compare. Unfortunately, for me, this one didn't really come close to the one in Vancouver however it was very tasty. I like the option of the customization where you can decide how salty or not salty you want the Ramen to be and the texture of the noodles - that's always a nice touch. The toppings on this chicken Ramen were absolutely cooked to perfection. I paid extra to add a soft boiled egg, and that was cooked perfectly as well. We ordered gyoza too and they were quite small and 5 came in one order. Their service is quite fast and friendly and just a few doors down, there is the pork Ramen spot under the same restaurant group which I've had before and I think I prefer that pork Ramen better than this chicken Ramen, but again, this one is definitely worth a try.

    The perfect portion size!

The Problem: Sometimes, you get ramen in other parts of the city, and you don't have a great experience because it's super salty and it's so big that you have to take it home-- even though you know that by the time it gets to your fridge, the noodles will have soaked up all of the broth and you'll just be left with soggy, sad noodles. The Solution: Ikkousha! The portions are smaller than other places so you can actually finish the bowl. Also, the broth isn't too salty; in fact, you have full control over the flavour because they put ramen sauce right on the table for you to add to your liking. I'll definitely be back to try the other flavours!

Consistent quality, light taste, and speedy service Food: I've visited the Ikkousha Tonkotsu restaurant next door several times, but it was my first visit to the Chicken Ramen restaurant. I tried the Tori Gyokai and it was an interesting broth, with the fish having a stronger flavour than the chicken but it was still delicious. The noodles were actually on the softer side even though I chose the firmer/harder noodles. Everything else was as expected, with nice tender chicken slices, a perfectly soft-boiled egg, and crunchy bamboo and a piece of seaweed. The ingredients tasted very fresh and overall, it was well made. Service: The restaurant was on the smaller side but service was very efficient, with the servers welcoming new customers and thanking people as they left. They filled the water regularly and provided the extra noodles when requested, exactly as we ordered with the firmer/harder texture. Atmosphere: It was a clean restaurant with a typical Japanese ramen shop vibe, great for quick meals and smaller groups, but dynamic enough to combine tables for a larger group as well.

I tried this location (they only serve chicken ramen) for the first time because their other location was busy (my fave ramen spot in Toronto). I had the Tori Paitan (white soup) and it was delicious. I love the texture of Ikkousha's noodles and their broth is super tasty. There are a bunch of different ways to customize your bowl on their menu. I like to do less salt, normal noodles, always add an egg, and some ramen sauce too. Next time I'll get the God Fire ramen because it has even more flavour and I do think the spice compliments the dish perfectly (I got to try my sister's). We also had the gyoza as an appetizer and it was great - I loved the ponzu dipping sauce. This place is overall a bit pricier but worth it! They also have a loyalty card. It gets busy during peak mealtimes so be prepared for a potential wait.

    Cin C.

Not to be mixed up with its more porky sibling a couple doors down, this location specializes in chicken based ramen. I had the black garlic ramen with a side of Gyoza. The broth is incredibly rich and thick with flavor. I liked mixing in some of the add ins to cut through the richness and balance it out. The noodles are perfectly cooked and really does satisfy any noodle cravings.

i got the tori paitan ramen which is their most popular dish according to my waitress. unfortunately, this kind of tasted like a glorified chicken noodle soup haha... it was alright but i think pork ramen is more popular for a reason. definitely want to go try the main branch after this one though!

My friend had the King of Kings as our server said this is one of their most popular choices. I opted for the Spicy Charsu. Now I understand some people can't handle heat but I live off of Purple Tongue hot sauce which is made with some pretty hot peppers. I asked for a level one and the lady explained that the spice level on the Charsu was a whole series of levels higher than the King of Kings. I get that . Give me the heat. Anywho, she was comfortable with giving me 0.5 but said I could make it hotter if need be. Ok, better to start smaller I guess. They put some sauce on the side which I added to my bowl. Personally I found the 0.5 a nice tingle; it was good. Made my nose run. But I'm totally getting the level 1 next time. My friend however tried a sip of my broth, spit it out and said poison poison because of the heat Mind you, his King of Kings was a level 1. Which to me tasted creamy and delicious. I love a good pork bone soup and I opted for the Spicy Charsu because of the pork bone base. I loved the broth. It was perfection. The noodles were so fresh . The portion size was enormous. I kept eating and more noodles appeared. The Charsu had an amazing flavor to it . Smoky and delicious . My friend is a larger man and even he commented on the portion size saying he would be ok with a smaller size as he was so full. Good portions for your money. We also had the Gyoza and the TakoYaki. The TakoYaki was soft and loaded with the delicious sauce. The Gyoza were enormous. We were both 100% satisfied with our visit and will be back for sure.

The concerned server told me that it may be painful, but being the chili head that I am, I gladly took on the challenge. It was a larger bowl than their regular size and my ramen came topped with lots of corn, some mushrooms, bean sprouts and 6 large pieces of chasu. The broth was magma red, but it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it was spicy but not to the point where it would warrant a warning. The spicy broth tasted like a mix of Buldak sauce and Capsaicin, but didn't have much depth. I finished my ramen, broth and all and enjoyed most of the experience. The least favorite was the chasu and the egg as chasu did not taste fresh, and I could not taste the char on them at all. The egg was over-cooked and under marinated which was disappointing. It's still one of the few ramen options in Durham but can't say it's comparable to the other Kenzo locations.

Reach ten stamps and you get a free bowl of ramen. - The chashu is excellent! My rating is 4.5 stars. I'm rounding down. Last Tuesday, I had my monthly 7 am meeting with a bunch of technical writing peers from around the world. It's quite the meeting that typically lasts for four hours. Luckily, we ended earlier than usual. It meant that my workday ended at around 3:30 pm. It was perfect, as I had a concert to attend several hours later. Normally, I don't do dinner before a concert. I grab a quick bite to each before I head downtown. This time, since I was done work early, I felt that having an early dinner was worthwhile. I drove downtown and parked in a lot that seems to be my usual spot whenever I'm attending a concert at Massey Hall. My original plan was to find an eatery close to the concert venue. I spotted Hokkaido Ramen Santouka steps away. I wanted ramen! I walked in and there was a sign that said to wait. I had no wait time. A woman and the entire staff greeted me. I asked for a table for me and got one. It was great. Seating between tables and diners is close together. You definitely overhear conversations and you can't help it. The man next to me had stretched his foot under my table. I didn't notice that he was in my space until I uncrossed my leg and my foot hit his. I listened to two friends next to me. The man seemed to take charge over what he and his female friend should eat, which was interesting. He gave the impression that he was an expert until the server came over and he had a ton of questions. It's always fun being an observer and listener. I had no choice but to listen to her dating experiences. I got a menu. I knew what I wanted. My server came over and was ready to take my order. I got these items: - Diet Coke - Miso chachu ramen, with bamboo shoot held - Jammy egg and corn as extra toppings The menu doesn't tell you what ingredients you get in each type of ramen. However, it does come with a photo. I asked how large a large bowl of ramen was. My server was great pointing up to a display of three bowls. I went large. The photo indicated that my miso ramen had bamboo shoots. I'm not a fan of them, so I asked that they be omitted. I also added a jammy egg and corn. I got a cold can of Diet Coke. A frosted glass with ice accompanied it. I was happy. I love an icy cold drink. This one was excellent. I loved that it was extra cold. My bowl of ramen had arrived. I was excited to dive in. My miso chachu ramen was delicious. The miso flavour was on point. I drank most of the broth, which speaks volumes on how yummy it was. The chachu was tender and had the best balance of pork and fattiness. The number of slices was generous. The ramen was chewy and perfectly done. I loved the corn and jammy egg. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed my ramen without these two key toppings. They worked nicely with the green onions. What prevents me from giving this place a perfect rating is flagging a server to get me water, or to frankly flag any staffer for something, such as ordering dessert or getting the bill. It took effort and hand-waving to get their attention. It took two tries to get a glass of water with ice. I was happy when I got some after I had finished my Diet Coke. It was equally as cold and yummy. I ordered dessert. The menu is stuck on each table. I asked what ice cream flavours were available. There were two flavours and I went with matcha. It was rich, creamy, and full of strong matcha flavour. The scoop of ice cream was generous. I loved the small spoon, which allowed this dessert to last a lot longer. I asked for the bill. I got a payment machine. I used my credit card to pay and tip. All was great. I used the washroom before I headed over to explore the downtown area. The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so accessibility is an issue. There are two single-stall washrooms. The one that I used was clean. Because it's an older building, the ceiling is low. I am just shy of six feet in height. I made it without hitting my head on the ceiling. If you are six feet and taller, you'll need to duck to make sure you don't bang your head. Staff say goodbye to you when you leave. It was a nice touch, although I don't know what they are saying to me in Japanese. They could be swearing at me and I wouldn't know. I had a wonderful experience here. If you don't mind sitting close to folks and waving your arms like a maniac to get your server's attention, come here. This ramen joint appeared as a Michelin place in 2017. I can see why. The food quality is excellent. (200)
