Sansotei has leveled up their game, maybe due to increasing competition in the area such as Midori. The to kotsu was delicious, noodles al dente, broth was on point, meat was thick enough, and egg was appropriately runny. Great job Sansotei
A friend recommended this place so I gave it a try. Service - 3.5/5: the service is fast initially but it took time to get our bill. She checked in on us a few times. There were 2 servers and it seems they stick to their own side. Ambiance - 3/5: it is a small restaurant and the 2-seat tables are very tight on space. I would also appreciate a little more padding on my seat. Food - 3/5: it's ok. I got the simple set - came with shio ramen, bamboo shoot and green onions with a chashu don. I added chasu to my noodles for an extra $4. The chashu in the don was flavourful but dry in my opinion. The chashu in the ramen was much more tender but that might be because it had time to soak in the broth. Overall - 3/5. It's ok. It is a little out of my way so maybe I'll go to this place if I'm in the area and crave ramen.
Ramen is a must on chilly nights! We got two ramens and one appetizer. The corn croquette was kinda like a deep fried mozzarella stick but with corn and cream. It was $5 for 2 and they weren't big. Kinda pricey.. The tomato ramen base was delicious and I like how you can adjust the saltiness. We asked for less salty for both. It wasn't too busy on a Friday night about 7pm. No line up but a little bit nosy.
Sansotei Ramen is always a hit up spot for me, when I'm craving some good old ramen. I come here for my favourite spicy tan tan ramen, and If not avail, their tonkatsu ramen is a hit. Love the runny ramen egg, pork slices, creamy soup base MMMmMmMmm! Pair it with a Sapporo, and it definitely satisfies your ramen cravings. Why not come here????? You'd be missing out.
You can never go wrong with ramen! I've been to Sansotei Ramen in the past but this is the only time that I've captured it. I went around 2-3pm and it was fairly dead (which I guess it makes sense since it's not peak time). I ordered Black Tonkotsu with thick noodles and less sodium...the less sodium option was new to me but it was very appealing. I don't think that option is normally given in other ramen spots...so I will definitely come back when I don't feel like MSG Overall, ramen is always a good option and the service was great!
Sansotei is one of the better ramen establishments in Toronto and I was excited to see it available in the Richmond Hill area. The restaurant is very clean and I like the modern interior. There are plenty of tables for groups of up to two. Since I generally prefer creamier broths, I ordered the tonkotsku ramen. The broth was rich and creamy. The chashu was thick, though a little tougher than I generally prefer. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of chewiness. The black fungus and freshly cut green onions went well with the broth and noodles. The soft-boiled egg yolk was runny. Yum! I'll definitely have to come back when I'm in the neighborhood.
Sansotei is a ramen shop tucked in a small plaza on Yonge. For a Sunday afternoon, the plaza is quiet. There's ample parking and there were no wait times to get a table. When you first walk in, you're greeted instantly by the waitresses. The restaurant has multiple tables, most that would seat two people. Any more, you'd be sitting in the aisle or cramped in the corner. I would say that the largest number of party that could seat comfortably in there would be about 4. Any more you'll be splitting off to different tables. The menu is small, which is nice. You're going to get ramen. You have a choice of thick or thin noodles and less salt in the broth. I ordered the regular tonkotsu ramen, thick noodles, less salt. We also ordered a bowl of fried chicken to go with the meal. For an addition quarter you can get the tonkotsu with black garlic oil, adding an additional layer of flavour. Tap water is served. The ramen came. The broth is creamy. It has a strong depth of flavour and it's hot, which is nice. It comes with two slices of char siu, woodear mushrooms and an egg. The egg was perfectly runny. Tender. Light in flavour. The noodles had a good texture to it as well: there was a bite that worked very well with the broth. The downfall of the bowl was the char siu. There's a good amount on there. They panfry it. It's not roasted or melt in your mouth. However it does have a good amount of flavour. Although I ordered it with less salt, it is quite salty to taste. So it's great if you like bold, salty flavors. The chicken is fried dark meat, served with a wedge of lemon to squirt on top. It's tender. There's enough flavour for you to want to eat it. For how much the dish was, it's ok. Boneless chicken. Overall, it was an average experience. Nothing that blows your mind. For a quick ramen meal, it's place on the map that's available. 7/10
Finally a descent/ famous ramen place in the upper Richmond Hill area! This location is very close to Hillcrest Mall, perfect for those of you who's hungry after all the shopping. I came here on a weekday, it was not busy at all. I opted in for their MIX & MATCH combo w/ miso black ramen. Their dessert would be whatever they had in stock. The noodles pairing was not a disappointment. The recommendations from the waitress was not wrong. Thicker broth needs a thicker noodle to absorb and allows the broth to stick to the noodle so that you would be able to taste that rich pork bone in every bite. I have been to other Sansotei locations before (a while ago, before I discovered YELP), and I always found their broth to be too salty yet flavorful. Because of the saltiness, I was always hesitant to choose Sansotei. But now that they have the option to choose the salt level, that's a game changer for me. With the less salt option, the broth was still as flavorful as usual. At this location ONLY, if you save your receipt, you will get 10% your next purchase within 14 days. But only for regular price items, basically just order whatever it's on the menu they give you. Do not order the combo if you are planning to honour this discount!!
Tucked away in a plaza behind all the yonge street construction, one can taste delicious Ramen. Similar to the other locations in decor style, but the bowls are prepared slightly different here than the Dundas location which I'm used to frequenting. It's very tasty still, the noodles have the perfect chew and all the ingredients are flavorful. Just some small changes in bowl ingredients such as the chopped wood ear fungus to small whole shitake. Soup is flavorful but the protein is still very limited. Shrimp in the Tomato Red bowl had one small shrimp 30/35 size on top with a slice of pork underneath. The eggs are perfect softness with just cooked egg yolk. The place has nice upbeat music and the servers are friendly and attentive. It's a really nice addition to the Richmond Hill restaurants in this area. Great place to visit for lunch or bring a date.
Came by here for dinner with my friends. I never knew this area was so developed since the last time I was here. Anyhow... so I was trying to find this restaurant. This signage is tucked below a roof ledge of sort, so it is not that evident unless either you live in the area or pay really close attention. So I had a party of 8 and luckily we got a table. Inside is clean and smells of yummy cooking of ramen. I ordered the ramen and Sapporo combo, which include the Miso Black with thick noodle and the Sapporo. My bowl of ramen came out not long after. I must say this ain't bad: the chashu was yummy and has just right amount of fattiness. The noodle had just the right amount of texture and chewiness, I always like noodles al-dente even ramen. As for the soup, I asked for low sodium. And I am glad I did cause I can taste the flavour of the miso instead of just salt. Overall experience not bad. Wish they got better furniture over the plastic and flimsy chairs.
Sansotei Ramen probably one of the more authentic Japanese Ramen experience in the neighbourhood. I have been to other Sansotei Ramen's location in Toronto and Markham so I do know what to expect. A great tasty bowl of Ramen! I do like the set up of this location as there are more smaller tables as it is great for single diner like myself. Tonkotsu Black with Thin Noodle was yummy and really hit the spot. I would be back when I have this ramen urge again!
I came for lunch on a weekday and was seated promptly. It was comfortable enough in comparison to other ramen places and I had enough space to put my jacket on the bench as well. My colleague and I ordered the Spicy Tan Tan and Tonkotsu Black. The Spicy Tan Tan was good and more mild than what I expected. The egg was made perfectly and was probably my favourite part of the dish. Portion size is decent and I wasn't able to finish my ramen. I loved the taste of the Tonkotsu Black that my colleague ordered. I think it had just the right amount of flavour with a little kick of spice. What I didn't like about Sansotei's ramen is their broth. I felt that it could've been more rich and flavourful. It felt like it was lacking something. I was very excited for dessert ever since we sat down and saw the sign for the Black Sesame Millie Crepe Cake. We ended up ordering one to share even though I wanted one slice all to myself! I'm so glad we ended up sharing because I was not a fan. I was craving the the taste of black sesame; maybe I had my expectations set too high. It was very creamy (almost too creamy) and I couldn't taste the black sesame at all. I honestly wouldn't have been able to tell that it was supposed to be black sesame just by the taste. I would return for the ramen but I wouldn't order dessert again. At least not a millie crepe cake!
This incarnation of Sansotei recently opened for soft opening. A lot of their staff are still being trained, but so far service has been very attentive. There are roughly 10 booths for 2 people facing each other, and one center area to accommodate a group up to roughly 12 people if you combine the tables. So for example, a small family would likely take up this area fully. So multiple large groups may cause some waiting, better to call ahead. Otherwise if your on a date there's no problem with seating. The menu is pretty simple and straight forward, which is totally fine as long as the food is good. This was our second visit here already, and the broth is nice and thick. We tried the black miso, black tonkatsu and tantan noodles. The tantan was the least appealing, while the black tonkatsu was very tasty. It comes with two different cuts of meat, some seasoned mushrooms and a nice thick broth. For sides we have tried the slow cooked wings and zangi (deep fried) chicken. The slow cooked wings were very uninspired. Tasty, but it's $6 for 5 wings that is wet flavored (think spicy soy cooked). The zangi chicke is quite tasty, not the usual thick breaded crunchy kaarage, a lightly battered chicken pieces. Overall this place is a welcome addition to the Yonge street corridor in Richmond Hill. The next closest ramen place that I consider good is another 10 minute drive from this location, so you bet I will be coming back.

Sansotei is a solid ramen chain and I was particularly impressed with this location's food. I ordered the tomato ramen (which is a first for me). At first the broth wasn't that impressive, but it definitely grew on me as I ate. I loved the flavour on the chashu (none of that bland unflavored pork here) and the shiitake mushrooms were also marinated very well (though they were a bit on the sweet side). Don't be fooled by the photo - there is a lot of noodle in there! They also offer a free kids meal deal for kids under 12 with an order of two bowls of ramen, which is pretty nice if you're eating out as a family. read more
We were here for dinner on a Saturday night because we came for a winter carnival at Richmond Green, where it was close by. The restaurant was at a busy location, which was the end of the driveway, everyone sees it before making a turn. The staff was nice when we walked in. We were greeted and directed to a corner table where was better with a baby. We showed them 2 coupons, 1 for ramen and 1 for fried chicken. The staff needed to talk to the owner about them. After a few seconds, she came back and said only 1 coupon per visit. We were a bit disappointed, because we were so hard to dine out with a baby, and not able to come again with a long drive and a baby. We talked to their owner, he was nice to let us try both at the same time. Oh yeah! So we have 1 original ramen with black garlic oil, and 1 tomato base. It won't take long to wait. The fried chicken came first, it was not like the breaded chicken, it fried from original, but after marinated; it has taste, but not salty. The 2 ramen came at the same time. They both really rich, but not so salty, because the salt level could be altered; the noodle size could be chosen as well, we did 1 thick and 1 thin. They both looked similar. Overall, the ramen and the chicken all looked good and tasty. I would like to come again if next time I come around this area, even though they were a bit pricey. read more

I've been here a handful of times already and haven't been disappointed once. There's plenty of seats available from tables to booths to two seater booths. You get seated instantly and service is prompt. The chef in the back would come out and serve you too if it's not busy. I always order the tonkotsu black which has always been the best each time. You can choose if you want thin or thick noodles, I always pick thin noodles. They put plenty of garlic in there for that nice aroma and taste with each bite! The chashu is soft and perfectly cooked. It's not hard or so thin like other ramen places. It costs 18 plus tax which comes to a little over $20. I highly recommend this place and would come here again if I'm in the area! read more

New location, haven't been to the others. Decor is very nice, but seating wasn't very comfy (wooden benches). Service: Waiteresses were very attentive, as there weren't too many customers and it was relatively early. Japanese greeting and farewell (thanks) were a nice touch. Food: Tonkotsu broth was very rich, although on the salty side (similar to that of ramen in Japan). Texture of the noodles was al dente, ideal for ramen. Soft boiled eggs cooked perfectly with a runny yolk. Garlic flavour was good for the tonkotsu black, recommended over the spicy tan tan. Overall: Go to ramen spot for Richmond Hill, saves the trip to Markham or downtown. read more

Just as delicious as the downtown Dundas location which I've been to several times. I believe they are still in their soft opening (have not announced a grand opening date). The decor is nice and bright. Oddly placed right next to a popular and family run pho place though. This time I got the spicy tan tan, which was delicious. My friends all enjoyed what they ordered. It's definitely our favourite ramen joint. I also loved how they had a black seasame crepe cake which was very tempting to order. We ordered a fried chicken appetizer which had an interesting/unique seasoning. Wasn't as crispy as some may like and its a bit greasy. Several of my friends ordered a black garlic ramen, but only one of theirs came with a lovely purple and edible orchid flower. read more

Hi, Rochelle! Thank you for visit! I am so glad to hear that you…
3.5 What does a vegetarian/halal foodie eat when they go to a pork broth ramen place? ...not much. I saw a new Sansotei location opened up in Richmond Hill, but consistent with their other menus, they didn't have a vegetarian option. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted in Japanese. The restaurant is clean and aesthetic providing a really great ambience. Having a lot of friends who enjoy ramen, I usually just get side dishes or whatever vegetarian option they have. The downtown location of Sansotei once made me fried rice which was quite delicious, but I was not able to get that here though I requested. According to my friend who is somewhat of an expert in Japanese culture, requesting a dish off the menu is not common and usually provides the servers with anxiety. Despite that, the staff did point out which side dishes I could get and were accommodating. So I ended up getting that, the lovely side dishes. The Kaedama chilled thick noodles were delicious - in fact I think this experience really helped me appreciate the quality of the ingredients. The soft boiled egg was cooked excellently, and the shiitake mushrooms were delicious! The best thing was this option was so cheap! I think it came to under $7. I can't comment on the ramen dishes, but everyone always says it's great. I wish there was more vegetarian ramen available, but despite that, Sansotei was a nice experience. read more

My dinner at Sansotei was a spontaneous decision, as another restaurant in a nearby plaza wouldn't allow dine-in clientele. Despite the spontaneity, I'm glad to have stumbled upon some great ramen. I recall once trying to get into the Downtown Sansotei location and giving up after seeing the lineup. Here, there was absolutely no lineup and only several tables were taken. What surprised me the most is how fresh the restaurants decor looks. The restaurant has been up-kept well and looks as if it only opened a week ago. I like how most all of the seating consists of booths and there's even a seating option for three (for the third-wheelers out there). We ordered the Tomato Ramen ($12.50), which came with chashu, egg and a Hokkaido scallop & the Spicy Tantan Ramen ($12.75), which came with ground pork, egg and bamboo shoots. The ramen came fairly quickly, we only waited about 10 minutes. The kitchen is also a semi open-concept, so you can see your ramen being prepared. The only criticism I have is that the plating could've been a little neater. The broth was spilled all over the sides of the bowl, which makes for messy pictures. Overall, a great restaurant to grab some ramen. read more

We were actually driving by looking for Pho for a late lunch. Wife saw the Sensotei signature on the mall sign so we went straight in. We totally forgot it was father's day so the popular Soho restaurant next door was jam packed. Sensotei was able to sit us down tight away so we took it. I got the spicy tantan with thin noodles and wife got the tonkatsu. Also ordered a side of gyoza on the side. I guess they were busy cuz the gyoza came slightly after the ramen. The spicey tantan was just the right amount of heat and full of flavour. The thin noodles werent too bad either and soaked up all the broth. Egg was slightly cold but still delicious. The meat was perfect though. With the right amount of fat. To be honest I enjoyed the wife's soup much more. That pork boje broth alone was worth it. The gyoza was pretty good but didn't have as much flavour as expected. Probably cuz I had it after the ramen broth. Service was great and we were in and out within half an hour. We will be coming back when too lazy to Cook read more

I never patronized Ramen places before Sansotei Ramen (mistakenly thought Ramen is just souped up instant noodles). And now that I've been to Sansotei, I don't think I need to find another Ramen place. Their Tonkatsu Black (with Garlic Oil) beckons me every time. I don't even think to order other items on their menu. It's an illogical craving to revisit the bliss I attained first time I ate there. On my initial visit, I thought to spice things up a bit and asked if they could make my soup spicy. They couldn't do that in the kitchen so my only option was a bottle of "Japanese chilli powder" (in photo). And to my surprise, I didn't need it: The broth had an intense body, the noodles were firm yet slurpy, the thinly-sliced black fungus presented a fun crackle and pop, the thin pork slice flavourful, and the runny eggs were thick and smooth. So I keep to my preferences: - Tonkatsu Black - Thin noodles (al dente) - Less salty broth, please I did add bamboo shoots once - didn't hugely affect my experience one way or the other. And I did taste my husband's Tonkatsu ramen once ~ it seemed plain without the garlic oil. One day, I will convince him to order the Miso ramen so I can taste it (and still eat my usual fare). After each meal here, as I go on with the rest of my day, I'm reminded of why I keep coming back: the delicious burps, like little love songs that bring back happy memories of a crush. read more

I've been to most of the Sansotei locations and the service and quality is consistent. My friend and I both ordered Tonkotsu Raman with thin noodles and a side of gyoza. The ramen came out first and was delicious as always. The egg was perfect with the runny yolk and I like how their broth isn't too rich and salty. The gyoza took a little bit longer to come. It tastes like a typical gyoza, nothing special. It's a good side though. The servers here are more attentive than other locations, it may be because they recently opened. They made sure our hot teas were refilled and took our finished bowls away soon after we finished eating. Overall, good food, good company, and good service. Will definitely come again. read more

Great, delicious, simple and so gorgeous! The restaurant is very clean and its fairly open concept, can see in the kitchen - it is pristine clean. You can see how your bowl is being prepared - with care and great attention. Very happy they opened a location in Richmond hill, hope to see another one in Aurora/Newmarket! (There is a T&T coming soon)) read more
We haven't been back in a long time. So we decided to see if they have kept their standards. Kids who require booster seats and high chairs are not recommended for this place, because of their choices of chairs and booth styles, they provide little to no safety to anchor your booster seats. Their target market is families who doesn't require these seats, and teens to adults. Atmosphere 3/5 Sleek and modern look. Not a place for people to sit and chat. You can tell by the chairs and booths available for quick turnovers. Service 3.5/5 Nice and friendly. The staff will greet you when you are entering and exiting the restaurant. Food 4/5 Delicious. They definitely maintained their standard. We ordered the black garlic ramen and the tomato scallop ramen, with extra noodles and black fungus. Their soup base is definitely more concentrated and heavy than other places that we tried. Overall, definitely worth coming back. It is pretty much on par with respect to ramen joints in the area. But if you just compare to soup with noodles only than it is definitely higher (i.e. pho, wonton noodles, etc) read more

Haven't dined at Sansotei for a long time and thought about its new location at Yonge and 16th. Ordered a bowl of spicy tantan noodle + extra noodle and a slow cooked wings. Wing came shortly after I placed the order. They looked like the authentic Chinese soy sauce marinated brine chicken. I was surprised that the sauce was spicy. Perhaps that I have not studied the menu carefully. There were 5 wings. Other than the spiciness, there's no difference from the Chinese brine chicken. This order is too pricy!! $6.00 for 5 wings. On the other hand, Spicy Tantan Noodle was not too spicy. The extra noodle came in a separate bowl but the noodle was kind of stuck together. One would have to separate the noodle with the chopsticks. Anyway, the broth did taste delicious and rich. The egg was soft and the slices of meat were slightly torched. Overall, the noodle was not too bad. read more

We have eaten here a couple of times and it is always delicious! The food is great and the staff was very friendly. We had the Tonkatsu Black, seaweed salad, and the gyoza. All amazing read more
Revisted with a large group of friends (11 in total). The table arrangements were mainly booth styled. I believe only 1 big group can be served at one time, with some booths holding up to 4 guests. The noodles have improved since my last visit. The tonkosu soup was hot, and the chashu meat were grilled and tasty. It also comes with my favourite ramen egg. The zangi is a tasty side dish and I'd choose that over the slow-cooked wings. As I remembered, this location is still not as busy as other Sansotei locations. The price is also reasonable. I'm glad the owner and managers takes their customer's reviews in mind and improve their service. read more
