This place is located in a plaza off of Major McKenzie and Woodbine right beside a Canadian Tire. The location is smaller so a bit harder to find but very worth it. My other half and I came on a Tuesday for lunch and at first seeing the pricing I was a bit skeptical given the interior is almost cafeteria like with one country you order from and you go sit down. The noodles were well portioned and al dente, the pork cartilage was genourous, flavorful, and excellent mouth chew. The Cha Siu was also thick cut and full of flavor. Been to their location up at Hwy 7 & Chalmers plenty of times but haven't gone since they moved a bit more north. They did a little rebrand and cleaned up the menu offering but it's pretty much the same as before where their signature Hokkaido ramen is on full display as well as a host of other broth options. They do contactless ordering even if you're dining in where you scan the QR code on the table for the ordering platform which you also pay for right on the site as well. Food came promptly after placing the order on my phone. They use paper cups for water as well as the wooden chopsticks, which tbh I really prefer having some "real" cups or chopsticks. Ordered the Hokkaido Ramen (16.50), which was exactly as I remembered from their other location. Very milky and rich broth. They are one of few ramen spots that definitely don't skimp out on portions with 3 pieces of pork along with ample amount of noodle, and other toppings like the naruto, corn and fungus. Then, when ready to leave, go back up to the cashier to pay. The ramen was as expected. It was a decent sized portion of noodles with a variety of toppings. Tasted like the regular ramen from most places and wasn't extremely thirsty after eating it, so not too much msg. The broth was okay but didn't have the depth like the real Japanese places. While Downtown and mid town ramen chains are slowly creeping up north and expanding their footprints, we have an independent ramen place that popped up in the last year near the Cathedral Town area by the name of Koi Sakana. This ramen place is tiny even in comparison to other small ramen places. It's a Chinese operated place but clearly shows effort in wanting to put a quality product on the table. I've tried Koi Sakana twice, once as a Uber pickup and the second time as a dine in experience. The experience could be summarized by the analogy 'the body is present but the soul is clearly missing'. What I mean by that is that toppings generally were decent but the soup, which essentially is the soul of a bowl of ramen, is not quite there yet. The first go at it, I took advantage of the buy one get one free deal on Uber for the maple wood duck breast shoyu ramen. It's a more new age ramen. The duck breast had an appropriate amount of Smokey taste, the shoyu soup based was adequate and the noodle was passable. For the second visit, we ordered the Hokkaido Ramen with karaage, the tonkotsu ramen and the pork cartilage ramen. All three had some sort of pork bone soup base to it. The plus is that the soup was not overly salty, but it was on the heavy side and had a bit of a porky taste that I'm not used to. I'm guessing that has to do with the quality of bones and meat that were chosen or maybe the preparation process. Again, the noodle is passable. The toppings in general were fine. The eggs had a runny center and were well marinated. The chashu tasted good but could be sliced slightly thinner and the fat portion is not fully there from a melt in your mouth standpoint. The cartilage was surprisingly well marinated but I wish it had a higher ratio of cartilage vs meat. Finally, although the karaage was not totally authentic but the batter was nice and crunchy and the chicken was moist. I'm very much a traditionalist when it comes to ramen. Surprisingly, I'm a bigger fan of the smoked duck ramen with a modern slant as opposed to the good old fashion tonkotsu ramen. The service in general was alright. If I just don't feel like driving anywhere far to satisfy my ramen craving, I might drop by Koi Sakana again, but it's not going to be a place that I must come back to. read more

To my surprise, the size of the pork cutlet is even bigger than the promo picture. the plate is 10" in diameter and the the length of the pork is more than 9" the pork is tender. All the ordering is done through your phone. I think it's a great way to order post pandemic. You order everything online once they get your order they go to work. We ordered 2 ramen bowls, a chicken karaage side and a wafer sandwich for dessert. The ramen is just as good as it was at the previous location. Same taste and portion sizes. Nothing has changed too much in terms of food. The chicken karaage could of been seasoned more, but they do give you a sauce to dip it in. The wafer was very good. You can choose between vanilla, chocolate or matcha. It is filled to the brim and so worth the 3 dollars. The seating is the only thing to take a hit in my opinion. There used to be multiple booth tables at their previous location. The new location only has 2 tables of 4 that could be called booths. 2 of the seats at these tables are just have square cushions with no backs for seats. It's more of a half booth if you ask me. The other 2 tables are reminiscent of what would you find at an izakaya. Long tables with the same square cushions for seats. There are no chairs to speak of here. It's not the ideal seating for families with young children. I'm still a fan of Koi Sakana despite it not being as user friendly for my young kids. Anybody looking for a good bowl of ramen should definitely check this place out. read more

We waited for 15-20 minutes before we got a text message that our table was ready. We ordered the ice cream volcano ramen special because I was intrigued. It looked better than it tastes. The vanilla ice cream melted into the broth and gave a spicy and sweet taste at the beginning. But once I mixed the broth, I couldn't tell the ice cream was there. I expected a creamier broth but the spiciness overpowered everything else. I do enjoyed their onsen eggs! They were perfection. I ordered an extra piece of bbq pork for my ramen as well since it only came with ham and bacons. I was a bit disappointed that for $3 more, I only got one slice of bbq pork.
