Redeemed myself and got the correct one this time! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Got seated in the middle communal tables so you may get a chance of sharing table with other guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The pork with cheese was amazing and cheese was oozing out in each bite. As usual the portions are huge and had to pack the leftovers :) Loved the entire meal and can't wait to go back again!

Tried their signature donkatsu and the portion size was huge. It was a bit sweeter than my personal preference, but that's pretty typical for donkatsu so I wouldn't count that against them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place itself is spacious and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices are on the higher side, but overall still a good experience.

A very busy tonkatsu and ramen place in Markham at the FMP. Long line except if you come as early as 5PM for dinner. Crispy pork with good portion. Good Japanese curry flavor. The pork meat was tender and tasty. The food quality justifies the prices. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Noisy and crowded with squish tables. Just come here to eat and leave. Not the best comfy place to enjoy the meal unfortunately.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Super good donkatsu spot! The portions are HUGE and everything is super crispy. I got the combo katsu, which came with carbonara sauce and a spicy one. I chose level 3 spicy (the highest), and honestly it wasn't extremely spicy, but I still really enjoyed it. My friend got the "everything set," which comes with pork, shrimp, and fish katsu they love it and always order that one. I really want to try the hot and spicy cheese one next time, it looks amazing. They don't take reservations, so it's walk in only. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is a bit on the smaller side, with a good amount of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also can push tables together if you have large tables but on weekends it can get quite busy even later at night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We waited about 30 minutes, but it was definitely worth it.

This was my first time trying brown donkatsu and I thought it was amazing! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location is nestled inside of the first Markham place plaza. This is the perfect place for a bite to eat after you do a bit of shopping in the surrounding plaza.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I opted for the combo that came with pork and chicken katsu so I could try a bit of both, this was a great choice and could easily feed two people. The portions sizes are huge here, and the service is fast. Pro tip, you can ask for additional brown sauce at no cost (at least in my experience).

Food 4/5 Service 3.75/5 Ambience The servings are huge! We got the Teri Tonkatsu and the Cheese Stick Combo A. Both were delicious and crisp. The pork was cooked well but not dry. At first glance at the photos posted, the katsu looked thin and spread out. But, once I started to eat, I realized there were two layers! After lunch, I still had 3/4 of my plate to go. It looked like I had barely started. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a small restaurant. We were there on a Monday for lunch at 1:00pm and there were several tables available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant is amongst several restaurants in this huge plaza at First Markham Place. Huge parking lot with cars coming and going. You will find a parking spot and sometimes a bit of patience is needed.

We went to Brown Donkatsu which is located at First Markham Place. First off, parking here is a nightmare. It took awhile for us to find a spot at prime dinner time. Luckily, we got a table with no wait, but people came after us were waiting awhile. We got the tonkotsu ramen and katsu combo (fish, pork and shrimp). The portions for the katsu were massive! The breading was not too thick and it didn't feel heavy. The ramen wasn't that astonishing. The katsu definitely stole the show. We ended up taking this home as it was too much for two. We left stuffed and satisfied.

I traveled to Richmond Hill for vacation, mostly for food. Brown Donkatsu was the best food I had during the 5 days I was there! This place is located in First Markham Place (FMP) with lots of parking available. What sets this place a part is the quality of their food, the portion sizes (Humongous) and presentation. The staff was friendly as well, and the service is quick. The food is cooked in fresh oil...just something you can tell based on smell and tastes. We odered Cheese Stick Tonkatsu, Teri Tonkatsu, Cheese bomb Tonkatsu, Everything Set A. Everything is a 10/10...do yourself a favor and visit this place if you are in the area! I can't wait to come back!

Wow. This place is good. Also just a warning portions are huge here. I went here in a Friday night. Wait time was about an hour and the time was around 8 pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was pretty busy, and for good reason[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I tried the fried fish. It comes with a salad (wasn't a fan, it's shredded cabbage with some kind of thousand island), corn and rice. The rice portion seems a bit small, but they go heavy on the protein, could be why it seems like there isn't much rice. The star is the fish. It was so tasty. The perfect fry on it. The fish was moist and went well with the tartar sauce they give you. My friends ordered different things that I was able to try. One had a cheesy and spicy chicken dish. Wow they give you a lot of cheese and meat. The other friend grabbed a chicken curry. This was very tasty and once again, huge portion. You get 3 pieces of breaded chicken. The dishes were in the $20 to $25 and because the portions are so big, you get 2 meals out of this. The value is definitely there and their food is delicious. Our server was really nice , even apologizing for the wsit time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is not very big, which is why the wait time could be long[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The place is clean and they did make good use of the space. You don't feel to tight and cramped inside. I definitely have to go back here. This one is definitely one to try

It's a Japanese-style restaurant. We had passed by it many times but never entered it. We finally stepped inside this restaurant tonight. We ordered the Brown Donkatsu and Donkatsu Ramen. The size of the Brown Donkatsu is super BIG! It's because the pork chop is pounded until very thin and then fried. Its breadcrumb coat is very crispy and taste good! So we are satisfied with the Brown Donkatsu. On the other hand, I'm pretty disappointed with the ramen. However, I have to say that I'm very picky at ramen because I've had so many different ramen restaurants around the world. I don't think their ramen can be called ramen...If they're called something like soup noodles, it would be more appropriate...although I still finished the whole bowl. I just had a feeling of imbalance and confusion: Is it really ramen? The broth is not flavourful enough, the chiashu is too greasy, the vegetable in the dish don't match, etc. I suggest you ordering their rice rather then ramen!

    My favourite dish! Noodle Omelete

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Tight seating that will get quite busy (wait) during busy (and even non busy times).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is very good. As per the name, you gotta try the katsu which is great. Too bad they don't have any of the side dishes (like their competitor). The portion sizes are good but I had issue with the "sauces" that was not enough for the meat and hence I had to eat the last little bit "dry" Be careful of the spice level. Even at 2 (of three) it was HOT! Proceed with caution :)

    Nadine C.

The portions just continue to blow me away. One serving is definitely enough for 2 people with a side of appetizer or another smaller dish. Our favourite is the carbonara, so creamy and pairs well with the deep fried crispyness of the katsu. This location also has other Japanese items so we tried the Ebi don. The rice is flavourful and very umami. The only qualm I have is the cabbage and rice serving is quite small so you'll need to order extra to finish your katsu which is $1 each refill whereas in the other location, it was free.

    Deceptive advertising

I won't be ordering from them again. I ordered the pork and chicken cutlet with cabbage salad and rice from Brown Donkatsu and Ramen, and honestly, it was pretty disappointing. First, I received the pork and chicken cutlets in the same container, both sliced into pieces. That made it hard for me to distinguish which one was the pork and which one was the chicken. I ordered the combo specifically so I could compare them and figure out what I should order next time, whether the chicken only or the pork only. But because both cutlets were sliced and mixed together, I could not tell which was which, and it did not allow me to taste the difference and decide which one was better. Also, in the photo, the pork and chicken cutlets did not look sliced, but when I received them, they were sliced. So, in a way, it is deceptive advertising. The second issue is the cabbage salad. In the photo, it looked like it came with dressing. However, in my order, it was just plain cabbage with some black sesame seeds on top, which did not seem special at all. Also, the pork and chicken cutlets I received, which again I could not identify, did not taste anything special either. I noticed they have high star rating reviews, so I ordered from Brown Donkatsu expecting something really good, but honestly it was nothing special. They have a similar dish at Cyan Cafe Lounge in Richmond Hill called chicken schnitzel and beef schnitzel, which in my opinion tastes much better. I really enjoyed the beef schnitzel at Cyan Cafe Lounge. It is just that they use panko-type breadcrumbs on their katsus, which makes it crispy. Crispy, but honestly, I was going to give this a one star, but I will be nice by giving it a two star, two out of five star review.

The taste is at pat or even better than the well-known Korean places around while the portions are much bigger. We ordered takeout a few times already. The owner is super friendly and even prepared some special side dish for us as my son has a particular one that he liked from another Korean place. Overall, if you are craving takeout for a big group, their family pack is the way to go. Do order a few hours in advance of lunch or dinner time as the prep time can require some time. Patience is a virtue that carries a lot of "wait". As they say, you can't rush "art" (in Korean food prep and cooking). We ordered the bossam, seafood pancake, and budae jeongol and the bill came to ~$100. The bossam was quite a large portion and the flavour was quite delicious. Our favourite item was the seafood pancake. We devoured that and if given a choice to only order one dish, I would definitely recommend the seafood pancake. The budae jeongol (as a solo dish) could easily feed two people. They pack the soup in two large circular soup-like takeout containers and the ingredients in a square container - same as the ones that the bossam and seafood pancake came in. There were plenty of tteokbokki, sausages, cabbage, and ramen noodles. We put the dish together in a wok and kept it heated on a portable induction cooktop. They gave four containers of banchan: fish cakes, japchae, radish kimchi, and mandu. My only complaint about this experience (4.5/5) was their inaccurate waiting time. I called in around 5 PM on a Wednesday to place my order and they quoted that the order would take around 20 to 25 minutes. I showed up ~30 mins after I called and they didn't have the food ready until 5:50/5:55 PM. I understand that they're busy, but I would have appreciated a more accurate wait time.

Diners tuck these soft meat slices into lettuce, Napa cabbage, and turnip with a smear of the savoury bean sauce for a protein packed bite. Our table was split about the haemui pa jeon ($28.99). The size of a medium pizza, it's made for a group. Personally, I found it way too thick and didn't contain enough ingredients to balance out the doughiness of the Korean style pancake. Conversely, my relatives preferred the heft as it contrasted the crispy exterior and soft interior. I guess it depends if you're a thin versus pan crust type of pizza lover. I'm firmly in the Neapolitan camp. I thoroughly enjoyed the crust that develops on the bottom of yachae dolsot bibimbap ($18.99). And the hot stone rice bowl contained a good combination of ingredients to ensure there was plenty of vegetables and beef to go around. De Chou's LA kalbi ($34.99) was rather neutral with very little sauce, so you mostly taste the beef.
