Galbi lunch set: Beef was good with a very good seared flavour. The mayo on top weird was a weird touch. The vegetables were not as good: green pepper, underdone broccoli, cabbage, carrot & bean sprouts; they were ok if boring. The miso soup was good.

Don't you just hate it when you finally pry open your takeout and see the meat sitting on top of a hill of rice and they look like they're the few finalists that barely made it out of the kitchen Olympics? Well come to this place, and erase the trauma we share. Appetizer, Takoyaki ($8.99, 5 pieces): 5 pieces of batter goodness, topped with their sweet garlic sauce, bonito flakes, and seaweed that contain a chunk of octopus in each piece. These pieces of octopus were like pearls inside each ball. The taste was great, the texture of the batter was a little overdone but overall, it was an amazing appetizer. Galbi on Rice ($15.49): It came with miso soup which was nice to encourage your appetite. Amazing flavour and texture on these Korean ribs. They're juicy, sweet, savoury, all the while having that grill flavour. Perfectly cooked Korean ribs on top of rice and stir-fried veggies. I was impressed by how much meat you're given. I ran out of rice long before finishing the ribs. Thank you On The Rice for the amazing food, especially for getting the protein to carb portion on point! I will definitely be coming back for more.

DELICIOUS! I wish I could eat this everyday. It was my first time ordering from On The Rice and I was so excited to try after seeing all the photos online of their food. I should've pre-ordered but when I got there and placed my order it was ready within 20 mins. So impressed. The creamy garlic sauce really took the dish to the next level. I can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu.

Torched spicy salmon roll -so yummy

We got the gamjatang jeongol and it was massive for two people. There were raw pork belly slices on top of the gamjatang so I had to make sure they were fully cooked before consuming. It was hard because there was a lot of soup so it made it extra difficult to push the raw items to the bottom. We ordered less spicy but it was still really spicy! It was flavourful and they gave lots of pork bone. We took the rest home and I had to add water to dilute it lol.

For a group of three, we went with budaejjigae (army stew), which is good for two to four people. The server seemed surprised that we weren't ordering more. If the menu lists that it can feed four people, it seemed like plenty for us, and we aren't big eaters. We received four side dishes -- cucumbers, radishes, nappa cabbage kimchi, and one we weren't familiar with. We asked the server what it was, and he said the name, but we still didn't know what it was. I asked him to repeat it, and he appeared quite annoyed that he had to say it more than once. The army stew wasn't cooking once the server had set it down on the table. It looked like the butane gas canister was empty. We used the call button to call the server back, since he was nowhere to be found. The army stew had luncheon meat, sausage, beans, zucchini, kappa cabbage, tofu, rice cakes, instant ramen, and a slice of American cheese. It was delicious.  Overall, the food is good, but the service is quite lacking. We felt like we were bothering the server by inquiring about the side dish, asking for extra chopsticks, and requiring another gas canister.

We ordered the Spicy Cheese Pork Ribs, Gamja Tang, and Corn Cheese, and honestly, everything hit the spot. The spicy cheese pork ribs were really good, a little spicy but not overwhelming, and covered in plenty of melty cheese. The portion was generous too, so I would definitely recommend it for cheese lovers. The Gamja Tang was classic and comforting, with rich broth and very flavorful pork bones that made it feel extra hearty. We also ordered the corn cheese, which is something I almost always get at Korean restaurants, and this one did not disappoint. It wasn't greasy at all, and the balance of sweet and savory made every bite really enjoyable. If you love warm, comforting Korean food and dishes that are fun to share with friends, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I especially liked the dumplings because the outside had a light crisp texture while the filling stayed juicy. The portions were reasonable, and the side dishes helped round out the meal nicely without feeling excessive. Service was friendly, although things slowed down a little once the restaurant became busier. Nothing major, but there was a bit of a wait at times for extra items and the check. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and would come back again if I were in the Richmond Hill area looking for comforting Korean food in a relaxed setting.

Bear in mind that when you do come here, the side dishes are limited to two free rounds. The main dishes however are large enough portions that you will probably need to take them home. Ambiance is casual, interior is clean, and service is fast and attentive. We ordered a couple of dishes and they all came out relatively quickly. The banchan (small side dishes) are refillable once only. My favourite banchan of the day were the bean sprouts and eggplant. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Vegetables Bibimbap, Mushrooms Bibimbap, Vegetables Udon, Vegetables Fried Rice, Kimchi Pancake, Soondubu-jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) in different variations, and more. The menu was pretty extensive, covering the most typical Korean dishes from the stews and grilled items, to a few Korean-Chinese dishes (such as Jajangmyeon) and everything in between. Steamed Vegetables Dumplings were quite small individually, but came in a sizeable portion. I liked the green onion garnish. Taste-wise, they were alright. Vegetables Bibimbap was excellent - good amount of mixed vegetables (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, carrot strips, lettuce, bean sprouts) and the fried egg was perfectly crispy on the outer edges, with a still gooey and runny yolk. Grilled Croaker was also decent. It had a lot of small bones as it was a whole fish. It came served with purple rice, and we chose to add on extra lettuce. Seafood Knife Cut Noodles came in a big portion - with lots of slippery, thick udon noodles, pieces of seafood (mussels, clams, squid, shrimps, octopus), and a little big of vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion). They came in a nice seafood-infused broth - perfect for a cold winter day. I'd come again for the variety of menu items they offer (especially the wide selection of vegetarian options), satisfying tastes, and great & efficient service.

The restaurant is relatively small, but the flavours are great, and the hospitality is first class. It was easy to like the restaurant right from the first visit as the first dish I've tried was the Korean pancake. A very generous in size with two options (seafood and a vegetable one). This, with an excellent selection of side dishes made the first trip an invitation to repeat visits to try some other dishes on the menu. Since that first visit, I've had a chance to enjoy dinner at Gamasot a few more times. My favourite dishes are Hot Pot Bulgogi, Galbitang, Pork Cutlet and Stir-Fried Beef. The portions are very generous, and all of them have that touch of home-made cooking. Overall, an excellent experience, and the one that you feel will never disappoint

Ordered takeout from this place…read more Ambiance - 4/5: it is a small Korean restaurant located in the Starbucks/No Frills plaza. Since it is in a plaza, there are plenty of parking spots. The place is small but they have maximized their seating arrangments. Decor is simple and clean. Service - 4.5/5: I called in the order. They were pretty fast with food prep too. Unfortunately, no takeout menu available. I found the menu on Uber Eats. They said that they don't make takeout menus anymore because they change their menu often. Food - 3.5/5: ordered the following: Banchan (came with the food) Seaweed salad - tangy, had shredded cabbage Kimchi Cucumber - smoky spiciness, slow burn Kimchi radish - crunchy, more spicy than the cucumber, tangy Oxbone soup: - came with salt on the side, add to taste. I only needed to add in about 1/3 of the salt - broth is bland at first but the ox flavour comes through later - no bone, just beef brisket slices - comes with glass noodles Pork belly - small for a whole pork belly, came on a bed of raw onions, a little dry - the nappa cabbage was shredded so I couldn't make it as a 1 bite wrap - the garlic was not fully cooked but surprisingly did not that raw spiciness (which I appreciate) - came with saamjang on the side. I didn't use much. I found it too salty and overpowered the pork belly - not sure if the rice is for this or the oxbone soup but I ate this with the rice Bulgogi dolsot bibimbap - not dine in so no hot stone bowl - lots of rice but there were still a decent amount of toppings!¡à - bland, came with gochujang on the side - added soy sauce, seasame oil and a small amount of gochujang when I ate it Accepts debit/credit/cash. 5% discount with cash, 10% if order is more than $100 before tax Overall 4/5: I would like to try dine in and take a look at the physical menu
