We were lucky to have come during phase 2/yellow during covid. They were allowed a specific capacity and they really kept the protocols so you would feel safe. They had the front door locked so you couldn't just walk in. Once someone saw us outside for our reso, he told us to wait in the car and he would call us. He did that as soon as we saw people leave. SOOOOO I have decided to brace myself and experience the AYCE right after York Region has entered stage 3 for dine in service. The restaurant HIGHLY RECOMMEND for reservations before coming, which we did. They have markings on the floor to indicate a one-way only and tables were served every other one to allow enough spacing between patrons for social distancing. You also have to write your name and phone number for contact tracing purposed. Their menu has shrunk for obvious purpose- they got rid of beef tongue, some veggie items, ALL sushi products, and limited their desserts to melona popsicle. Some items like pineapple and garden salad, as well as all their appetizers came in a take-out container which I found it a little weird but acceptable for sanitary purposes. Also, this was new: any leftovers would be packed in a take-out box for you at additional cost. Meat qualities has definitely decreased compared to last time I have been here. On my previous review, I have mentioned that their CHAKO beef was a piece of juicy tender steak so I have decided to try it this time as well to see if quality has changed, and boy was I right... The steak was sooooooo not tender and I have extreme difficulty biting it. It still remained juicy but I would prefer it be in cubes so it would be easier to eat. Pineapples were soooo thinly sliced that by the time it was grilled it turned a little sour. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE... the salmons were so juicy and thick cut that we ate 4 rounds of it. Shrimps were all peeled for easy access. Kimchi was still delicious like usual. Overall, I don't think it was worth the $29.99 due to the size of the menu. If it was their pre-COVID menu it would have been worth it more. As usual, service charge (10%) would be added to the final bill so beware of that! read more

I'm a big fan of Korean bbq but I feel like Chako takes it to another level! While I was a fan of the Markham location, I feel like this one excels in every way. The food is really good and I feel like the marinades used are more intense (or marinated for longer) than the Markham location. The sushi is isn't bad considering this isn't a Japanese restaurant. While I wouldn't recommend going just for the sushi, it's pretty good and can rival some Japanese AYCE restaurants. For dessert, they have Melona ice cream bars instead of regular ice cream. While you're only limited to one, I much prefer these and I wouldn't normally want more than one ice cream anyway. The last thing I wanted to comment on is the service. I find the service to be outstanding, definitely a level above any other Korean bbq restaurant I've been to. They're polite, attentive, and readily available. In each of my two visits they proactively offered to change my grill, which I never get! Overall, this Chako location is my favorite Korean bbq that I've been to. Great location right off the 404, very clean and not sticky and smokey like the other ayce kbbq places. Few key notables: -The shrimps are pre peeled unlike other places where the shells stick on the grill -Salmon slices are thick and not soaked in oil which lead to a very nice grilled fillet -Dessert is Melon ice cream bars(Melon, Mango, Coconut). AY YI YI YI...... What a huge disappointment at this location. I've been to all the other Chakos and was super excited when this place opened up near my house. My boyfriend and I, had a long week and were hangry. So we wanted to DRINK and stuff our face, that was our intentions when we arrived to Chakos. Thursday night dinner: $24.99 - fewer selections than all the other Chakos... A lot nicer and smaller than the places I've been to. The service was okay. A bit slow and it wasn't busy. I was disappointed that they gave us the drink menu and asked what we wanted and then later told us that they didn't have their alcohol license yet so they are unable to serve alcohol. 1.) why would you put up drink promos if you did not have your license 2.) This chako has been opened for a couple months and still no LLBO? 3.) why would you give us the DRINK menu and not tell us before hand... -____- Menu: no bean sprouts? isn't that a korean staple at all the korean joints? The corn salad was different.. Shrimp was like the cheaper - already peeled shrimp you would find in a typical grocery store. I missed the full Shrimp - with the head and insides were the best part of grilling a shrimp. The mussels were actually really good. The best that I had at Chakos. The marinate for the beef, pork and short ribs were the norm. Service was a-ok. They added 10% grat onto the bill and urge you to tip more. I don't think we will be coming back here. Food was delicious! Their meat such as the beef ribs are seasoned with kimchi which is amazing! I ordered more than 5 and enjoyed every single one. I loved all their chicken and beef with their seasoning. Not only is the food good, the server I had was incredibly helpful! Always came back multiple times at the right time, was very quick and nice. Their steak is pretty amazing as well. I have short arms and all the KBBQ places that I have gone to, all their grills are high and the table is so large that I constantly have to stand, bend over and reach far which just made the experience tiring. It's in perfect reach which allowed me to focus on the fun rather than the troubles of having to cook the food. Though I do wish their plates were bigger. It wasn't that big of a deal but it definitely couldn't fit much at once. I truly had a great time here and would come again! read more

This location definitely has a more upscale feel to it compared to the others though I wish it was less dimly lit so that I could actually see whether my food was cooked. I was impressed with the quality of the meats - the chako select beef is a more thickly cut piece of steak, the chicken is very tender and the short ribs were fatty and very good! We even got a few rolls that we were impressed with, especially the tempura shrimp roll. Food wise, it was great. Service was attentive when we first sat down, after that we found it difficult to flag someone down. With the first round of food, the waitress knocked over a glass of water but they were quick to address that. Second round, another waitress dropped a dish of meat into the grill and the sauce splashed onto our clothes. Again they brought wet wipes right away. Accidents happen, I get that. What really grossed me out was that I saw the waitress drop a tea bag, pick it up, toss it on her tray, then put it back in a patron's tea cup and carried on. It is a tea bag! I'm sure it would not have been a huge loss to toss it. Then a table that had finished had two plates of meat left on the table, and the waitress blatantly took it right back to the kitchen where food was coming out. I'm pretty sure that has to be against all health food standards. The food is actually mot bad and the service is actually not bad as well. Our waitress kept on checking and see if we need anything more. What makes it uncomfortable is when we were paying out the bill, our waitress made an emphasize on the tip option on the debit machine, which is the tips are divided between the kitchen and the waiters. So if we are really satisfied with her service she recommended leaving cash on the table as an addition. Out of the three Chako locations I've been to, this one is simply the best one for multiple reasons. Food is better here than the other two locations. Even though it's the exact same meat from location to location, it's got way more flavour. Meat is all of good quality. I can't speak to the sushi or fish, as neither my girlfriend or I eat those. Service is also improved here vs the other two locations. Servers check up on you fairly often (which is a FAR improvement on the other two) and none of our food was ever missed. Drinks came a little late, but that's a minor problem at worst. The owner / manager personally likes to check up on tables as well, which is a nice touch. This location is slightly smaller, but it's a bit out of the way so it's tough to judge how employees would react to getting much busier. Price is the same as the other locations, but they really gotta ditch the 10% "service charge". I've never been a fan of forcing customers into a tip and it feels like they had this same price and tacked on the service charge at some point when inflation got out of hand. Parking was fairly empty when my girlfriend and I went as the plaza itself never really gets overcrowded. This will be the Chako I return to. And it will happen multiple times. The fact that it's closer than the other two isn't a factor either. If you like Chako, go here, and I'll bet you you'll like it more. read more

So happy that Chako has opened in Aurora! After going to the location in Richmond Hill for years, I was super excited to see it in construction. First night visiting the new location, I was super impressed by the design, cleanliness and service. Top notch. Especially because I already knew what to expect coming from the Richmond Hill location. Servers are attentive and atmosphere is fun and welcoming. Good quality food, sushi and dessert! Nice addition to aurora! We've previously dined at the Richmond hill location and it was about as good as we remembered. I wasn't a fan of the calamari or white fish but everything else was awesome. It's an all you can eat menu and the choices are pretty limited but I don't think the prices are unreasonable considering how much meat you could end up ordering. We were there during holiday season so it was $20/person for lunch. The icecream popsicle dessert was really good too - we tried the mango and coconut, both delicious. I'd love to see an a la carte menu added.. for some reason I thought the Richmond hill location had chap chae as part of their offering but it was so long ago that I might be confusing it with somewhere else. Regardless I want chap chae on their menu! It would fit in so well. Anyways, it is a fun dining experience and very tasty meat. read more

I have been to the Richmond Hill location a few times, and the one in Aurora is definitely better. Overall, the menu at the Aurora location seems to be a bit smaller, but the quality is much better. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the beef and the flavour. Service was excellent, maybe because there wasnt a lot of customers, but definitely the service was impeccable. Staff is very friendly and attentive, and the food comes out very quickly. I plan on adding Chako in Aurora to the rotation of dine out options. read more

The service was great, our waitress kept walking by to see if we need more food. The food though, leaves alot to be desired. All the meat tastes the same, the marinade was very light, there is little to no taste to all of them, the beef ribs is acceptable, but pork was chewy, beef were sliced very coarsely, the seafood taste like it came straight out of a bag from the fridge, basically the kimchi itself taste better than the meat, and as another review mentioned, no bean sprouts ... So happy Chako opened in Aurora! I have already dined there several times since it opened. It's definitely way better than the Richmond Hill location in terms of quality of meat and breathable air. I don't smell like a chimney after eating there. Since it's new, they were able to build in proper exhaust for the smoke. Service is very friendly and attentive when they see you. You might have to flag them down once in a while. The only disappointment is the popsicle dessert (mango, honeydew, coconut). I wish they served ice cream like in the other locations. read more
