    Jjamppong (15.99)
    Bosco H.

Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night. Pretty small shop overall and it got decently busy throughout the night. They offer a very typical set of korean dishes that you'd expect that every restaurant. I ordered the Jjamppong (15.99) and thought it was just ok. It was actually a very large bowl but I thought in terms of taste it was spicy. I couldn't really taste anything else other than spice. The noodles were good and there was a ton of seafood and vegetables so I was definitely full after finishing the bowl. Service was surprisingly slow and we waited probably 25-30 minutes before everything showed up at our table. Wouldn't come back since the food was very average at best.

My friend recommended this place and normally I wouldn't even really trust his judgement when it comes to food as we have different palettes. But then our friend had said that she's been there quite a few times too and she's compared it to another place we've both been to. So then I thought, okay I'm willing to give this a try. The place is a hole in the wall in Scarborough and these places generally have really good food. Fried Pumpkin in Salted Egg - Sorry, I don't know what it's actually called but this was delicious. Not overly greasy but it had enough crisp to it. If you like tempura, then I'd recommend this. Would definitely order this again. 5/5. Pork Bone Soup with Ramen - I love me some pork bone soup so I got excited especially since I've been craving for a nice hot bowl of soup with the rainy weather we've been having. I generally get the original with just the potatoes but I figured why not try the one with ramen since I also love noodles. The broth was delicious with just the right amount of heat. The amount of pork bone was also quite generous, as well as the ramen which was all at the bottom. One thing though is that the noodles will absorb most of the broth, so not great if you have leftovers. What was very sweet though was that I had asked for some extra broth to take home and the woman (possibly the owner), gave me an entire to-go container. So my friend took some and I still had most of it left. I offered to pay for it but she just comped it. Very generous! 5/5. Their prices were definitely reasonable given the amount of food you get. I still have my leftovers which probably taste even better now.

    Salmon Bibimbap

Ordered the salmon bibimbap for delivery (through Uber eats) was surprised to find that it was cold (on purpose) but just as delicious! Especially the Chili paste (spicy and delicious!) Only feedback is online ordering could be a bit more detailed ... otherwise price is right and quality ingredients for sure!

    Tonkatsu with rice

My family tried this Korean place thinking it was own by Korean but were talking in traditional Chinese. The food I ordered is salmon bibimbap is so so, not impress but the tonkatsu is pretty good.

Went to this place on a weekday night, and it is a pretty hidden spot in scarborough that serves korean food. This restaurant has been around for quite some time. I have to say though that overall i'm a bit disappointed in this restaurant. Although the price was decent, and the food selection was wide, the actual food itself wasn't that great. We had ordered several dishes included the hot plate pork belly that korean are famous for, and the chinese inspired korean sweet and sour chicken, along with the pork bone soup. Overall the food isn't that great, and doesn't stand out. The side dishes are slightly better as the side dishes are not bad and pretty average. i would say if your in the area and you crave korean food, you can go to the place if you want to simply satisfy that craving, but i wouldn't go here if given a choice, and probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Customer service was mediocre. Once they get your orders, the waitress will rarely check up on you to see what you need. Sometimes, it's very hard to get their attention too, so I consistently had to put my hand up for them to notice. Their side dishes isn't my favourite either. Their kimchi tastes a little dry and different from what I'm used to. The food itself is good. The pork bone soup is my favourite, and I usually get deep fried dumplings.

    E9 bulgogi
    Amirtha U.

Let me start firstly by saying this place is literally the hardest little hole in the wall to find, but it's in the plaza that is right next to Sheppard road if that helps! I got the E9 bulgogi with rice and I really enjoyed it! I love bulgogi and this did not disappoint! We also got the spicy rice cakes to share and I really enjoyed those as well, def spicy! Its not the best koreon place in the area, but I was satisfied with my food! (3.5 more than a 3)

We did not dabble in much, we only ate the buddae jung-chol (?) For 2 people $30. In English it's called Army Stew. It's basically ramen noodles in a spicy broth with everything in it (pork, hotdogs, spam, rice cakes, tofu, beansprouts, kimchi). It's pretty awesome for a cold day if you ask me. And honestly , you can't really mess it up . It's on the spicier side, as the broth cooks it gets spicier. Comes with 2 rice. It was nicely heated inside and there were maybe a few empty tables . Considering it was boxing day, and none of the nearby sushi houses were open we were happy with our visit. Waitress was attentive but didn't talk much.

    Pork Bone Soup!

I ordered a pork bone soup ahead of time on the phone. The order was ready by the time I arrived (10 minutes). I was welcomed by the hostess in a friendly manner. She processed my transaction and gave me my order; which came with three complimentary sides. The soup came with an order of rice. The portion size is generous and the broth is well seasoned. I'll definitely be going back.

Just your standard Korean food place is Scarborough that opens till 11. I ordered the pork bone soup and it taste like your standard. There's a lot of room to sit so getting seated there was no problem. The lady was really nice and the service was great! Food came out quickly. The price isn't too bad either. $10 for pork bone soup is pretty common. They do take card

I was reeeeeeally craving don katsu, and didn't want to drive far. Opened up Yelp and this is what I got. A 5minute drive to satisfy my craving. Small place, watch your step before you enter. The katsu was exactly what I wanted, and the side salad was yummy. My bfs noodles were verrrrrrry bland, and the kimchi lacked flavour on all fronts. This pace also offered sushi, but we didn't try any. Would've been nice if they had bento boxes with the Don katsu. Probably won't return, unless craving katsu again.

Pretty disappointing 2nd visit. Not really happy with the side dish selection and didn't taste all that great either. They had my favorite soy bean side dish but its just not done the same like other Korean restaurants. Got the Bibimbap with Kalbi for $15.99 - ribs were really fatty Also got the fried ramen with rice cake for $9.99 - it was very salty and got boring after a few bites. Since this is the closest Korean restaurant to where I live, I would only come back if I was lazy to travel and was really craving Korean food. 2.5 stars

THE Salmon lover maki. For salmon lovers ONLY! Lol
    Veronica J.

Had to come back and write about the thing I love from here the most- the salmon lover maki. Maybe it's the different play of textures with the spicy salmon sashimi on the inside, the extra layer of salmon sashimi on the outside, sprinkled with tempura bits on the outside and then drizzled with spicy mayo. Or maybe it's their sushi rice mixture...something about this maki keeps me going back for more. So much so that the waitress told me today, "it's been an long time" (since I last saw her). Well I'm back. And sharing with you this yummy dish. Yes it's a Korean resto. But what the heck- they serve a really damn good salmon maki! Call me a Salmon lover for real!

Kimchi fried rice! One of my fav dishes from here :)

There's no reservation system but they do have a waitlist on Yelp which gets you in line (highly recommended). First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

We got a bunch of dishes to share and overall liked most things but some things (like the oyster) unfortunately didn't hit as well. Wagyu - thin slices but very tender and very flavorful with the cheese - surprised by how well the flavor combo worked out. Tofu - easily one of my fave agedashi tofu. Huge tofu slices with very chewy outer texture, a bit gelatinous . Really went well with the sauce and toppings Carbonara - nice chewy texture to the udon, not too soft and not too firm. The sauce was nice and creamy. Not as truffley as I thought it would be, wish it was a little more but it was still pretty good Oyster - least favorite of all the dishes we got today. It was a bit sour and the cheese felt like it didn't really help the flavor profile of the oysters. It was super oily from the cheese, felt like it was drowning in cheese/oil flavor Cod - it looks good but something is lacking, maybe in taste? Feel like maybe the marinade did not penetrate enough. The texture is still nice and soft , with a crisp skin . Also was a bit too oily for our liking, compared to other miso cod we have had. It was also a relatively smaller piece of cod. Overall, the appetizers were really good! The oyster and cod were a bit disappointing. Would come back for the carbonara and the other appetizers mentioned though!
