I stopped in for a weekday lunch and enjoyed Midori's lunch special which comes with a ramen of your choice (from pre-selected list), 1 appetizer and a drink for $23.99. We tried takoyaki, chicken karaage, Tori paitan shoyu and signature Tori paitan. Since I've never had Tori Paitan, i didn't know what to expect. The broth was milky and had foam at the top which was strange at first. But it only took a few sips for me to be impressed by how well balance the soup was. It was mild, creamy but had nice depth which was lovely. I opted for kale noodles but I couldn't taste the kale. The accompanying chicken chashu and regular chachu were well prepared; not melt in your mouth (pork), but not dry (chicken) either. Both appetizer were excellent. I may return to try out other offering since the first visit was a pleasant one. read more

Location/Service This place is located within the new-ish plaza by Midland and McNicoll. Plenty of parking is available. Interior is pretty nice with a couple tables available for small to medium size groups. Staff is pretty friendly and orders came in on time. Food I'll be honest, I'm not exactly sure how their ramen is different from other chains - but I do like the fact that they have a lot of different seasonal menu items to try. A little while back they had their gyudon ramen and matcha ramen - which was very unique from anything I've experienced. The gyudon was literally like the rice version, but they have it with noodles. It's a little oily after a while cause the way you make it. But quite comforting and heavy for big eaters. Matcha ramen was alright - didn't feel it was anything specialy, but they use duck pieces rather than pork cha siu. It had a better balance that way and didn't felt too heavy. Pricing wise is pretty standard now with inflation. Nice place that it's close to me, but I don't see myself coming too often though. read more

I stopped by during a busy night and finally ordered a ramen bowl. There were a lot of options to choose from and I wish I had the stomach strength to down at least 3 bowls because I wanted to try several. I ended up with just the one and I enjoyed it but wished there was more garlic flavour and other items. This is probably the most expensive ramen I've ever had (I didn't order additional toppings but went with kale noodles). I also ordered the vegetarian app platter (tofu nuggets, edamame, and purple yam fries were good and simple). The bowl comes with 5 slices of duck, nori, a small naruto fish cake, 2 small slices of crunch lotus, and green onion. I wish there were more of the cakes and the lotus chips The place itself was very tiny and fills up fast - it's recommended you call or book a reservation so there's less wait time. read more

Great ramen place! One of the few ramen places with good quality vegetarian ramen! I've tried their meat-based ramen options as well, and the black garlic vegetarian ramen is my favourite! They brought back the mactcha ramen. It smells heavily of matcha but the taste was not too overwhelming. It was a salty take on matcha. I probably won't get it again, but it was a unique dish to try! Usually not too busy. Have never needed to wait for a table for lunch. Waiters checked on us multiple times. When you go, check out their daily specials! When I first walked in, it gave a very cozy relaxing vibe. The restaurant had quite a bit of seating available which was great. They don't accept cash or American express I got the original tori paitan without onions and the favourites flight for appetizer. The broth was thick and creamy, it was very flavorful and delicious. However, I found the chicken karaage really salty which I didn't really like. The service was good, the waitress was very tentative and friendly. Overall, their food was good and I would certainly come back again when I'm craving for ramen. read more

Delicious and wonderful dining experience tonight at Midori. Great service provided as all my drinks and cutlery, table was refilled and taken care of throughout the evening. I ordered the Black garlic ramen with extra pork charsiu and thick noodles. Order was presented to be hot, looked appetizing and tasted delicious. I also ordered the appetizer favorites flight with consisted of chicken karage, takoyaki, and gyozas. These appetizers were fresh, and made with care To finish it off I ordered the almond tofu, which was topped with a mint leaf and a goji berry. This was a very refreshing dessert to finish off the dining experience tonight. It was so good, I ordered another!! Will return! read more

Solid ramen. However I'm not a fan of milky type of broth. I got the spicy ramen and it was not all that spicy which I like. I just wished it had a different type of broth. The original lacked flavor. It was very bland. The takoyaki on the other hand was absolutely amazing! The gyoza was great and stuffed with chicken! read more

So happy that they opened up a location in Scarborough! Took my dad here and he enjoyed the ramen. I like how they serve both chicken and pork in the ramen bowls. Pork had good torch and egg was cooked well. This is a new space perfect size for the area it's in. Service was quick as we came for lunch on a weekday. Hopefully service would be the same on a weekend but I'm sure it's a lot busier. Will be returning again to try out some of the other ramen options but loved my bowl. read more

We ordered a spicy tantan noodle, a few paitan noodle bowls, a duck shoyu, and a red spicy noodle. It was alright and nothing really special. It's just an ordinary ramen place with small portions. I was meeting with a friend who told me of this ramen place. Toronto has plentiful ramen places so it was good to try places I haven't been yet. Heard of and saw friends coming to this place, so I decided to try. Came with 2 others, so we ordered a few items. Not sure if other locations have, but we ordered a appetizer that consisted of chicken karage, tako yaki & dumplings. This was really good, 2 pcs of each, perfect sharing size for 3 ladies. We got 2 ramens: duck shoyu & truffle. Duck shoyu was very good but the truffle was a bit on the salty side. We also got a tori don which was a smaller rice bowl and it was yummy. Overall, everything we tried was pretty decent and I'd come back if I was having a ramen craving. read more

A bit disappointed in the red spicy ramen. What made it fire was the chili pepper you see in the picture. Otherwise, the ramen was great. The soup for both was rich and creamy. It was our first visit. I came with my family and we ordered a bowl of ramen noodle for each of us, Karaage and mini buta don. Underneath the chairs there was a basket to put your purse or small items. The chairs have a low curved backing. The ramen was good and the flavour of the soup base was more creamy based not oily but I did wish it was hotter. I like when the soup base is piping hot. We ordered the duck shoyu, shoyu tori paitan & signature tori paitan. There is a choice of thin, thick or kale noodles. There is a surcharge for kale noodles. The Karaage was really good (juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside). The service was very good. They were friendly and attentive. Midori Ramen just vaulted to the top of my Scarborough noodle list. Their new Gyudon Ramen is a double‑threat: silky paitan chicken broth meets a mountain of sweet‑soy beef. Pay an extra dollar for rice, slide some beef on top, perch the onsen egg, and you've built gyudon before the first slurp. Rich broth, black‑garlic oil, and fresh scallion keep each sip lively. Portions are huge--easily enough for two lighter appetites. Start with the Favourites Flight. Karaage lands ultra‑crisp and juicy, takoyaki melts in the middle, and gyoza arrive with a spicy‑mayo kick. At twelve bucks it's an easy yes. Service is prompt, staff friendly, dining room spotless, and even the washroom gleams. For extra savings, check their set meals: the combo for two brings two ramen, two sides, and two canned drinks for $46--great date‑night insurance. If creamy broth and tender beef are your love language, add Midori to your must‑try list. read more

Lunch date with my daughter this past weekend at Midori Ramen in Scarborough!! Also, our first time checking out this ramen spot! Around 12:30 pm on a Sat afternoon, both of us were so hungry!! Luckily we got seated immediately by the friendly staff!! We've ordered: Limited edition till end of Nov -- Yuzu Ramen ($18.99) Red Spicy Ramen ($15.49) Chicken karaage ($6.99) Both ramen came with a piece of chicken & pork belly. Yuzu Ramen's soup was super creamy, flavorful & yet not too heavy. We got medium hot for red spicy ramen & would probably opt for the most spicy level next time! The chicken karaage was so crunchy on the outside while tendered & juicy on the inside! Highly recommend as an appetizer! Gotta mention the staffs were super prompt, friendly & helpful! Love the downtown location and awesome they've expanded uptown. If you're looking for the Tori Tori Paitan, look no further. Midori does one of the best chicken based broth ramen around. It's lighter than your classic Tonkatsu and a refreshing way to have ramen. This location is in the Midland area where there are a ton of options for food. It's a great addition to the area. Featuring their signature tori paitan ramen, black garlic ramen, chicken karaange! Noodles are chewy and everything tasted great! However we had to wait outside for 30 mins past opening time before we were seated because they didn't open the restaurant until then (I was second in line), but I figure since they are still settling in hop Definitely check it out if you haven't had the chance to do so! Came during their soft launch. Not all dishes were available but got some of their staples, tori paitan shoyu and black garlic ramen. Both were flavourful as you would expect of most decent ramen restaurants. The chicken was extremely soft due to their method of cooking, perhaps a bit unnaturally so. The paitan broth was very rich and delicious. This is a good alternative if you want something other than pork based ramen (ie tonkotsu ramen). They have a good beverage menu and also offer some delicious choices from Godspeed brewery as well. Interestingly, this chain is owned by a pair of Japanese chefs who have brought their cuisine to Canada which adds authenticity to the flair. The wait time was a bit long and was asked to wait for a table despite the location being half full. This is understandable given it was the soft launch but hope this will improve going forward. The staff were friendly and polite. Though the food was good, the ramen didn't stand out from other similar ramen restaurants, other than having tori paitan. Though I would consider coming back for the variety, I think there are many other places which offer comparable ramen at similar or better prices. read more

Overall I would say this is a solid option for ramen. We opted for the classic & spicy ramen and enjoyed them both. The broth is quite rich so it can feel a bit heavy and hard to finish but it is very tasty. The noodles were well cooked - nice and chewy, not overcooked. We also ordered an appetizer of karaage and it was good, but we found the portion very small. Staff were very attentive - no issues there. I'd return for sure. read more

Midori Ramen's signature tori paitan ramen ($17.49) seemingly was developed for me... the broth wasn't overly salty, yet it was still creamy and hearty enough to satisfy. It didn't leave me with an overwhelming need to drink tons of water after the meal and given was less oily, my stomach didn't have an adverse reaction either. I can see how some diners find their broth bland as it's not as powerful as some competitors, but I found it was flavourful enough without being too much. If you're in the mood for a punch of flavour, their spicy ramen ($15.49) could work. I liked that they offer a scale of spiciness as we found the "mild" already had a sufficient kick. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the thick version springy enough with bite. I just wasn't overly fond of the ingredients included in the signature ramen: the red onions were too raw and needed ample time in the broth before the stingy acid subsided; the finely shredded aosa sea lettuce was lost in the soup not adding any flavour or texture; and the fried bogo (burdock root) was too hard and made me feel like I was eating hay. Moo.... I would have liked the two pieces of cha shu (pork and chicken) to be hotter. At Midori, they don't seem to blowtorch the meat before it's presented so they are also pale and pasty. Their onsen egg was just bordering on becoming overcooked, the edges solidifying against the molten texture, yet still ice cold in the centre, despite sitting in the broth. If anything, the chicken karaage ($6.99) was probably the best part of the meal and I would have happily had it with a bowl of plain ramen with scallions. Left in three palm-sized pieces, the larger cuts meant the chicken was juicy. The breading also included an ideal amount of spices for flavour. Maybe my experience will encourage ramen restaurants to offer a "build your own bowl" menu item. Because as much as I enjoyed Midori's noodles and broth, the ingredients included in a bowl of ramen is still an integral part of the meal. And unfortunately, these all fell flat. read more

3.5 stars Chicken broth ramen! As not many places offer chicken broth or even specialise in it, we were quite excited to try. They also have another location in downtown Toronto. They were not too busy on a weeknight around 6:30pm and we got a table for four easily. There was a constant steam of patrons in and out the entire time though. I ordered the original ramen with thick noodles, no scallions, and added corn for an extra charge. A friend did recommend their spicy version. We also shared a side of chicken karaage (note it is only 3pcs). The staff were very friendly and recommended the thin noodles. I got thick haha. The noodles came pretty quickly. Visually it was a bit difficult to see the difference between the thin and thick but I enjoyed my thick noodles. They were definitely a lot thinner than most places they offer a thick noodle alternative. The soup base was surprisingly quite creamy but not super rich or heavy. I did feel a slight need to drink more water after the meal though! The pork slice in the ramen was quite average but the chicken slice was so good. Super tender and soft! The chicken karaage was fried nicely and was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It was served with a small plop of mayo. Overall the meal was good and if I crave ramen and am in the area, I will come back. But I probably would not make a special trip for this. read more

The good: I love how this is chicken broth and not pork broth! I like to think it's a bit healthier :) and a great alternative for those that don't eat pork. I ordered the black garlic ramen and it was flavourful and delicious. It came with a slice of pork and a slice of chicken but no egg. Other ramens include an egg. I also ordered the purple yam fries and they were very tasty. The restaurant is clean and modern with fast service. So happy there's another chicken ramen place added to the game! The bad: The chairs are modern but heavy! Haha just use some extra strength when you pull out the chairs to sit. read more

Came here during the soft opening and had a decent experience. We had reservations and were seated on time. The restaurant is nice with modern organic decor. Service was good. We were checked up on quite frequently and our water was always topped up. Since it was their soft opening, they didn't have their liquor license yet and we couldn't order any alcohol. They also didn't have the spicy tan tan ramen, which we wanted to try. We ended up getting the duck shoyu and the red spicy ramen. Both very quite good. If you're anything like me, I always taste the broth first. Both broths were very tasty. The duck shoyu was very flavourful and you could really taste the duck. We got mild spice for the spicy ramen, but if you like spicy I would say to do the full spice level - it wasn't really spicy imo. We got the thick noodles and it was exactly how we liked it. Adding the egg was also a must. Portion wise, I would say it's average. I was content but not super full. Definitely had room for dessert. Overall, I would come back to try the different ramen and appetizers but not in a rush to do so; more so for if we're in the area. read more

Chicken-based ramen! Midori Ramen opened a new location in Scarborough; don't hold high expectations. We were the first table as they opened for Saturday lunch service. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed with the food - maybe we ordered the wrong items or we're not fans of creamy chicken broths. Something that immediately took us aback was when the waiter mentioned they didn't have hot water readily available, and could only provide a glass of warm water at the time. It's definitely shocking for a restaurant not to have hot water readily available (though, where did the warm water come from if the restaurant didn't have hot water?). All ramen orders get the choice between thin/thick noodles. Our waiter suggested the thin noodles (chef's choice), but mentioned if you wanted to slurp the soup alongside noodle strands, thick was the better option. Taking that into consideration, we ordered the Black Garlic and Duck Shoyu with thin noodles, Red Spicy with thick noodles. Overall, there was a surprisingly bland broth across the 3 dishes. The Duck Shoyu was the worst of three, with a large amount of oil coating the broth and tough duck with unrendered fat. My girlfriend could only finish the Duck Shoyu by masking the flavour with the Red Spicy broth (which disappointingly, wasn't really spicy). The Red Spicy came with both pork chashu and chicken breast - however, the latter was a bit too dry for my preference. The saving grace? Both thin and thick noodles, respectively, had a great firmness to them. However, the semi-bland broth ruined the experience for us. I'm not sure if we'll be going back anytime soon, but if we do, you'll see us there maybe a year down the road. read more

TRUFFLE RAMEN!! With truffle oil and truffle paste! All ramen are made with chicken base broth. It was so rich and creamy I finished the broth. It was delicious. The one thing I would change is the thickness of the noodles. I chose thick and they were "thin". If those were thick I can't imagine what thin would be. They also offer kale noodles as an option and extra $$. Also the chair are so heavy!! I could not move it with one hand. U have to move it with your whole body into it. It's a workout! read more

I decided to come here tonight for dinner with my family. We ordered the 2 duck ramen which was BOGO 50%, special Midori ramen and Midori ramen without egg, gyoza and yam fries. The yam fries were good however doesn't justify the $7 price tag with 10-fries, likewise for the gyoza which was $6-7. All rames itself was good, broth was delicious and noodles were good. However, the amount of meat slices on it was ridiculous small and little, especially for the duck one. Unfortunately it was 4 slices of tiny thin cut meat for $18. I could not justify my satisfaction with the price tag as other ramen places have a more meat to ramen ratio. read more

Came here for a quick dinner on a cold day. Ambience: Vibrant, green space with lots of good lighting. Cozy restaurant with a handful of tables + bar seating. Service: Service was OK. We ordered fairly quickly with our server when we stepped in. Menu: Small menu, not much selection which is good because they can focus on higher quality dishes versus having a huge selection and variety of mediocre foods. The Food: Takowasabi (octopus, wasabi wrapped in seaweed): NOT PICTURED Good, nothing special or out of the ordinary, the wasabi kick is nice when/if your nose is runny and the flavor was just on point. Signature Tori Paitan Ramen You have the choice of thin or thick noodles, my wife ordered the thick, I ordered the thin. (Egg, chicken chashu, pork chashu, scallion, onion, some other veggies) Taste of the broth is very clean, not too salty, lots of depth and umami flavor in the broth. The broth is creamy and rich, will warm you up if you are feeling cold. The pork chashu was tender, a little chewy at first bite but still flavorful. The chicken chashu was very tender and juicy, not as flavorful as the pork but still very good. The rest of the ingredients contributed to the ramen in harmony with one another, nothing was too powerful, nothing was overkill it was very well balanced. I did not need to drink a lot of water afterwards which was nice. We will have to come back as the restaurant does have a special truffle ramen they bring back from time to time. read more

Midori is known for their milky chicken based ramen broth. They have a special duck ramen that I was really keen to try. I haven't seen any duck ramens offered anywhere else in the city! This location is sort of small and is limited in the number of 4 person tables. They had a number of open tables but these were two seaters. They weren't able to make a 4 person table for whatever reason so we were asked to put our names down on a digital waitlist. They said they would text us when ready. We didn't have to wait too long. The restaurant itself is very clean and comfortable. The seats are pretty clever as they have compartments for your bags or jackets. I liked my duck ramen a lot! I got mine with thick noodles upon recommendation from my friends who have been to Midori before. The thick noodles aren't excessively thick, still much smaller than an udon noodle. The duck breast was excellent. My new favourite topping for ramen! The broth was warming and comforting. read more

After a lot of hype involving long waits during opening, I was excited to finally try this place out. Midori specializes in a healthier alternative to other ramen places, but unfortunately I found the taste lacking as well. Firstly, I don't often eat chicken based ramen broths normally, and I prefer my broths rich and not milky, so maybe this was just an issue of my palette not matching a restaurant. Nevertheless, I ordered the signature ramen in hopes of getting an idea for what this place specializes in and left feeling underwhelmed. Each ingredient was great quality, but the bowl of ramen as a whole felt lacking for me. Also, I love red onions, but it seemed out of place in my bowl of ramen this time around. The takoyaki was good, but it seemed pretty standard and similar to what I can get at any other restaurant. This may be the perfect ramen shop for someone else, but I can't see myself returning when there are so many other places I'd rather go in this area. read more

Gave Midori a try after learning about them through the Insta and drooling over what they got. Don't know about their other locations but the Scarborough one at Midland/McNicoll is a bit on the small side capacity-wise--perhaps fitting at most 25-ish diners. They all though have custom made chairs with a large purse basket, but I am not the only one who find the chairs to be very big, heavy and bulky, borderline comfortable, hard to move around and with low backs. You can for whatever ramen you pick have it with thin, thick (always thick for me), or for a bit extra go for kale noodles. The kale noodles however I didn't find to be any more different flavour-wise, but hey it's green. And chewy, and medium thick. I find their broths creamy and not so salty, and they even have chicken based broth. While I wasn't too fond of their tan tan ramen as it seemed more broth than ground pork and light on the spicy side, the killer so far has got to be their truffle ramen. This special bowl graced with truffle in different forms, was a smashing decadent delight that melted me away. read more
