I was excited about coming to Dear Saigon because I saw on the menu what looks like bone marrow pho, and I have been craving bone marrow. I asked the waiter if the marrow part is soft, and he said yes, but when I got it, it was hard and couldn't dig into it. I told the waiter that the marrow is hard, but he did nothing. So that was disappointing. The noodles was an extra charge on top. The taste of the soup was decent, but there were mostly fatty meat in the bowl. They also had an impressive drink menu, but sadly the drinks we wanted were unavailable. The spring rolls we ordered were good and crispy, so that was a plus.

Ever since opening their doors across the street from UofT St. George, Dear Saigon continues to impress the entire GTA community with their take on Vietnamese cuisine. They've definitely got our favourite classics such as the 3 Layer Pho with Beef Rib and the Dear Saigon Platter with humble appetizers such as Chao Tom and Spring Rolls. However, you definitely need to try the new dishes such as the Beef Ribeye Carpaccio which is a great representation of Vietnamese flavours of salty, sweet, sour, and spice. A great flavour combination that is a great appetizer to share with your friends and family. The drinks are quite refreshing especially with new drinks like the Pandan Cloud and Thai Green Tea! Be sure to swing by the downtown location of Dear Saigon for a small trip to Vietnam!

A great place for Vietnamese food. Food comes out quick and portion sizes are large. My favorite was the grilled pork and shrimp vermicelli plate. Meats were grilled perfectly and all ingredients on the plate was well presented. The pho was also very good. The broth was tasty and the beef had a nice tender chew. The drinks here are also tasty and pairs up with the food well.

Lined up here in the early morning for their grand opening. Got the house special pho (P7). It had rare beef, brisket, tendon, tripe and beef balls. The broth was rich and light with that beef bone flavour. You get served with the usual bean sprouts, lime and mint leaves on the side. In the soup they include onions and green onions. One of the best pho around. They also have pad Thai on the menu here.

Spread of delish creations.

Suffice it to say, I love "Dear Saigon" as one of my fav Viet places in the GTA. I've been going to the one in Richmond Hill since they opened under the banner of "Little Saigon." This little place was so busy and they only opened for 6 hours a day and when they ran out of broth, they closed for the day too! Wow... and they were the most popular spot. I remember lining up 15-30mins before opening to score a coveted seating for lunch or dinner Fast track to today and a little name change, a fresh look, and new locations opening to let those fans outside of Richmond Hill get a little bit of great Viet Food in their lives. My fav here are their crispy spring rolls and satay pho. I also think their fresh cold rolls are fantastic. As menus go in GTA, food is constantly changing and adding viet flavours to regular street eats - well you just have to try it. Give their wings, tacos, and other fusion foods a try. I'm sure you'll find many items that you will crave just as you leave the place. The place here is well decorated - the obligatory instaworld flowers, neon signs, and photo-opp corners are present and waiting for your selfies. Service is excellent - just like their food. CHEERS!!!

When Dear Saigon opened up over the spring, I was an immediate fan. Based on other recent reviews, it looks like everything has gone downhill now. The service is non-existent even though it was not busy when I went. There were about 7 tables of customers, 2 wait staff and I could see 3 people in the kitchen. It still took a few minutes for someone to notice me and I sat myself down at an empty table. I had to ask for the QR code to order and then I sat waiting for 10 minutes with no water or utensils. I finally decided to flag down a waitress who was serving a table but she ignored me and I asked a second waitress instead. She then walked around doing other things so I went to the cash register where she was to ask again. Finally, the brisket and beef ball pho came and it was the smallest portion I've ever seen. They didn't have any proper pieces of brisket - just tiny little pieces floating around and they didn't even bother to give me bean sprouts like the other tables. I was tired of servicing myself so I didn't bother to talk to the waitress yet again. For $20 including tax, you can get fed better and get better service elsewhere!

Was very excited to try their satay pho, so went on a rainy day. The deco was very cute, so many flowers on the ceiling and it was bright and clean. Ordered the 3 things below: 1. The grilled pork roll: I really wished it tasted better, cuz I love viet rolls, it was to be honest very salty, with the salty peanut sauce, I had to chug 2 glasses of water afterwards. 2. House special pho: the soup was good, they had a sigh on the door saying they were out of tendon but they did give us tendon so it was pleasant. Flavors r good! 3. Satay pho with tripe and rare beef: this is what I came here for, but it was disappointing, it doesn't have flavors, after adding tons of oyster sauce to it I finally was able to taste something, the tripe was very hard to chew. Overall disappointing. Above is worth taking a star off, but why another star off? There was a delivery driver waiting to pick up their food, keep in mind it was POURING RAIN outside, and we saw the waitress rudely telling him to get out, and he was literally soaked in the rain, like please? It was heartbreaking to watch him wait outside, and totally ruined our appetite. Prob won't come back again.

Cute little place to eat at! The inside is clean, and there are utensils and a couple of sauces already at each table when you sit down. We got two rice plates, beef and pork, and a chicken and shrimp pad Thai. Food was good, only the chicken was a little bland but everything else tastes great. The portion sizes were pretty filling. We also got the pandan latte and a mango juice drink, which were very refreshing.

This Vietnamese restaurant serves both modern and traditional Vietnamese dishes like pho to banhmi tacos. Customers have to order from a QR code placed on the table. The orders came very quickly and the servers were attentive to our needs. I really like the satay pho and chicken wings. The dish sizes to prices ratio are proportionate. They also played Vietnamese music Jordan are visit there. The only negative thing that I observed was that the place is not accessible as there are a few steps customers needed to take before reaching the door.

My boyfriend and I wanted to give this place a chance, but we both regretted it so much. The Vermicelli was undercooked so it was just a bunch of overcooked pork on top of a bed of hard rice noodles. The best part of this dish was by far the egg-roll. Also, we both got really sick after eating from here, so definitely wouldn't come back anytime soon.

House Special Pho

Amazing new pho spot! Tried out a couple different dishes, including the House Special Pho and the Satay Pho with Rare Beef and Beef Ball. I love how there were sooo many toppings (lots of beef!) in both dishes. The flavours of both broths were super delicious, the classic pho is a clean yet rich broth while the satay pho has a thicker peanut-y taste to it. The Satay Pho is definitely a nice twist to the classic Pho. We also tried out two drinks. The Mango Smoothie which was perfectly sweet and so refreshing. Our favourite though was the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, it's strong, sweet, and so so good. Highly recommend both! Overall, an amazing addition to the downtown area, especially so close to U of T and OCAD. Lots of noodle and rice options on the menu. Definitely will be back to try some of their other dishes!

Tom Yum - in store

I've been to Dear Saigon, the downtown Toronto location twice and both times were amazing! There are not many restaurants to choose from near UofT and I am so happy that they opened up a Vietnamese restaurant near the school. The first time I went to the restaurant, they were very packed and I decided to grab take out home instead. I got their grilled pork vermicelli bowl with a spring roll. I have to say their portions were perfect and I love the balance of the fish sauce, the fresh vegetables and the delicious grilled pork. To add on, the spring rolls were hot and crispy still and it took me 20 minutes to walk home. 10/10 would recommend getting this if you are grabbing take out! The second time I came back, I actually got a seat at the restaurant, so I had to try their pho! There were so many choices, but I always loved a good Tom Yum soup. Their Tom Yum was absolutely divine and I would come back for it again. It had the perfect amount of sweetness, sour, and spice, making it really appetizing. They also gave large pieces of shrimps and a lot of chicken too. I even finished drinking their soup, which is shocking for me at a pho restaurant. I have tried many pho places before, but I can definitely say that their Tom Yum is unique to Dear Saigon only. I want to come back next time to try their Satay Pho and their Pad Thai!

Curry Pad Thai

Walked in starving, left satisfied. Place was busy, good noise in crowd. I ordered fresh rolls, chicken and shrimp curry pad Thai and a smoothie for my daughter 1. Fresh rolls were terrific 2. Smoothie was next level 3. Pad Thai was tasty, however dry 4. Service a bit slow. 5. Co-Owner I spoke to seemed like a really decent guy It's hard to trash the overall experience. I would come back again.

Quick service and the food tastes good. Not a big space but it's cozy. Also super accessible to campus if you're on UofT St George campus.

As I…read morewas working in the vicinity and interested in a lighter lunch, I decided to give them a shot. Plus, I appreciated their nod to the famous Seinfeld episode. I was surprised that there was no line on a weekday during lunch time ~12:00, especially since other reviewers made mention of long wait times. I guess I was lucky. Anyway, since there was no line, I got my meal quickly. The soups are waiting in pots at the front, so the service is fast as they just need to scoop up your soup of choice. I got a small soup meal, so I was able to choose 2 sides from a collection of breads and fruits/veggies. I decided to go for the Moroccan Madness Vegetable Medley with sides of a multigrain ciabatta bun and apple. The soup was good, definitely fresh, flavourful, and better than your average canned soup, but I wasn't blown away. Plus, the meal was kind of pricey for what I got. For these reasons I only rated them as 3 stars. However, I'm really only basing my review on one out of many different soup options. Maybe some of the other flavours are better. I would go back to try a different soup.

I placed an order for a soup and decided to get some falafel as well. You have a choice of a few dipping sauces and I went with the harissa one. They told me it'd be a couple of minutes before it'd be ready. I stood by the windows to see what was happening on Yonge St but it was a pretty quiet night. They gave me a call out and I was off with my soup and falafel in no time. After getting back to my place, I popped the lids for my orders. The soup smelled great and the falafel looked alright. I started with the soup. It was nice and packed with a lot of flavour. It was also pretty light and what I was looking for. I took a bite of the falafel. I'm unsure how to feel about it as it felt really when chewing through it. I dipped it into the sauce and it still felt a little dry. I finished this during the hockey game and I'm glad it was close. Would grab the soup again and try other things on the menu but would skip the falafel as it wasn't my favourite thing even though the dipping sauce was nice.
