Small ramen shop right in the whole foods plaza. Staff are friendly, space is nicely decorated but the seating in the middle is a bit odd. Its picnic style so when it gets busy you share with other patrons of the restaurant. Overall the ramen is not bad, flavourful broth and the noodles are well made. However, the portions are really small and it only comes with 2 thin pieces of meat and a few pieces of bamboo shoots and a small egg. You'll most likely end up leaving hungry if you only order a bowl of ramen. The prices are on the higher end too so not really worth it. read more

I previously heard of this restaurant that it was good so decided to give it a try. We went early evening so it was empty. However, by 5:00 people started arriving. I had the Tonkotsu Black Ramen. The broth was rich and flavourful. The meat was tender. Served hot, however it cooled quickly. The thin noodles had just the right firmness. The serving could be a touch larger. The foods storage in the restaurant is a bit unsightly. Overall good. Service was ok. read more

After a few times coming back, it's definitely not my favorite ramen place anymore. The broth is much too salty for our taste. My mouth is always feeling a bit weird after. While it's still a good bowl of noodles, it's not my go to choice. I will say, I like the tonkotsu black with thin noodles. The soft boiled eggs are perfect every time. The bathrooms need work. One is always out of order which I think was their COVID response to make sure only one occupant at a time. But it's still labeled that way. So either they never fixed it or they just aren't allowing patrons to use the second bathroom. It makes no sense given how many people they can seat. Imagine two people have a bathroom emergency. Also, inside the bathroom stalls are only lit up by this weird back wall decor piece. It's not enough light. You can't tell if the toilet seat is clean and there's also no where to hang your purse. It just seems like a huge design flaw. Definitely not my go to choice but a decent option if you're in the area and craving some noodles. The menu is simple. read more

I came on a Friday night and was lucky to get a table. My party of 4 didn't wait at all. I ordered the Spicy Tan-Tan noodles with thick noodles. Flavours are good and the thick noodles are chewy. The rest of my party ordered Tonkotsu Black. They loved it. I did get to try the thin noodles and I would say that I still prefer the thick noodles. I think it's worth it to order a side of extra noodles (+$2). The food comes out fast. It got a little busy later at night and there was only one server around, so the service slowed down. But she was still very attentive and met all our needs. Overall, it's a good ramen spot if you ever want a quick hearty meal. read more

Came here on a Saturday for lunch and we were seated quickly for a table of two. There weren't a lot of tables though and we had to share a six people table with two other people. Service was quick as the server took our order almost right away. Food also came quickly. We had the Tonkotsu Black and it was really good. It was a quick meal for us as we had to go somewhere else after and it did not disappoint since we were able to get in, eat quickly, and leave. read more

Came here on Saturday lunch time. The place was full, and we waited for about 5 mins. Ordered: MISO BLACK TOMATO TONKOTSU BLACK Gyoza with green onion and ginger The gyoza was OK, nothing special. A plenty of chopped green onion pieces were sprinkled over Gyoza, which added refreshing taste, flavor and texture. But the chopping skill was so armature and rough. Also from the way gyoza tasted (both the skin and filling), I thought it was cooked from frozen. I may be wrong. Definitely not freshly-made quality. All the ramens arrived somewhat warm, not hot. That was disappointing to me. The Tonkotu and Miso broth tasted great, but wished it would have come with hot-hot soup! One of the meat pieces on the Miso ramen had a strong Chinese herb scent, the meat itself is good, but is unsuitable for typical Japanese style ramen. The small shiitake pieces were also untypical and I did not think they were a good match for the Tonkotsu ramen. I heard that Tomato was one of the most popular ramens in the restaurant. I was very curious about this ramen, because Tomato ramen is never the "most popular" item in Japan. The broth was thick, but somewhat lacking. And it was a bit too sweet to my liking. Yet, the Chashu (meat slice) was tasty, and eggs were cooked perfectly with the custardy jammy egg yolk and umami flavor. Although it had a large scallop as a topping, it did not integrate with the rest of the ingredients, may be because the broth did not have enough seafood flavor. Overall, the food was OK, and the food came fairly quick. read more

got the pork shoyu ramen here with some friends for about $17. I thought the ramen was tasty and the broth was good but it feels super pricey for a bowl of noodles. I enjoyed it but wouldn't come back too often. Theres a lot of other options, especially noodles, for $17 in Markham. read more

One of our go-to ramen spots! We typically get the Tonkotsu Black which is flavourful and a bit on the saltier side, as well as Gyoza for appetizers. This time, we also got Zangi and Ramune as well. For ramen, there aren't too many options on the menu. You also have a choice of thin or thick noodles. I love this place for their chashu which is always cooked so soft and tender, and their soft-boiled eggs which have runny yolks. Everything else is pretty average. read more

This is my go-to ramen spot in markham! The service is always friendly & the food is served fairly quickly. My go-to order is the tonkatsu ramen with thin noodles which is served with perfectly torched chashu topped with black fungus, ramen egg & green onions. The broth is delicious & served piping hot with perfectly cooked ramen noodles. Sansotei Ramen - Tonkatsu - Japanese Near Me - Markham, Ontario

When this Sansotei Ramen opened several years ago, I could never find the right time to dine in. It was always packed when I was in the vicinity. I gave up trying to eat here. During this pandemic, I have visited the Sansotei Ramen in Richmond Hill a few times and enjoyed my takeout. Recently, I was browsing deals on Uber Eats and found a BOGO deal on gyoza at this location. I am such a fan that little thought was needed for me to fetch dinner here last Saturday. I ordered the following items: - Tonkotsu black ramen, with corn and chashu as extras - Gyoza (BOGO) - Yuzu cheesecake (BOGO) I was running errands last Saturday and scheduled my food pickup at around 6 pm. This place was promp getting my order ready. I drove over to the eatery. It's in plaaza between LCBO and Panera Bread, with Whole Foods diagonally across from it. I parked fairly close to the restaurant and headed over. It looked eerily dark when I approached the place. I wasn't sure whether it was open. When I tugged on the door handle, I was relieved that it was open. I had the nicest woman help fetch my order. I said my name and mentioned that I had an Uber Eats order. It was ready. She was so kind by wishing me a great evening. I reciprocated and left with my food. I had one more errand to do before I headed home. When I got home, I was more than ready for dinner. Everything was meticulously packed and labelled in the bag. It was impressive! I asked that the broth be separated from the ramen. I started with the gyoza. You get five in a box. I had a box for dinner and the other one the following day. Each gyoza was pan-fried. The wrapper was thin and it had the right amount of pork filling. I loved each one. The dipping sauce sealed the deal. Delicious! I then added the broth to my ramen. I loved the garlic oil in this tonkotsu black ramen. It was perfect. By default, it came with chashu, black fungus, egg, and green onion. It is my favourite combination in ramen. I added more chashu because more pork is best. I also love corn that it had to be a part of my ramen. So good and comforting on a soggy evening. I had a slice of the yuzu cheesecake. Cheesecake at ramen places tends to be a tiny little wedge. I like this portion size when I've devoured a bowl of ramen. I realized with this BOGO that two cheesecake slices together make up a regular slice elsewhere... haha! I love yuzu. I normally do the matcha, but I felt like a citrusy dessert. OMG! I may not go back to matcha cheesecake. It was creamy, bright, and the perfect dessert to have. Yum! I had the other slice the following evening and it held up nicely. I had a great experience here. I need to drop by this location more often for my ramen fix. (54) read more

Every time I come here, it's good. Always satisfying. Feels like a bowl of soul warming Asian home food. Got the Shoyu (less green onions) and everything was tasty, tastier than trying to make your own at home. I had originally asked for the Tonkotsu but they didn't have. My friend and I were looking for something quick and easy to eat before we head out to the mall. I had my daughter with me that day. It was around 11am so it wasn't too crowded yet. We had our vaccine proofs checked as well. We waiting a little over 5mins before being seated. There were plastic borders to separate the guests during dine-in. Side note: the washroom sink was so high, definitely not kid friendly as there was no stool or something to step up. I guess that's how many of these restaurant washrooms are. I wanted to order something different and got the scallop tomato ramen. I didn't look at the menu photo close enough to see that they put the whole scallop inside. I thought it would just be the white part. (I didn't eat the outer part shhh) I enjoyed the broth, it was just the perfect flavour. The noodles were great, I picked thin ones, and the eggs were nice and marinated. I'd definitely go here again. read more

Been to quite a few ramen places in the area and Sansotei is pretty similar to others. Portion sizes, prices, and seating are all similar to other places - so just average, nothing commendable. Service, however, is better than others, but I'm not sure if it's just because it wasn't that busy when we went. Also take into consideration that this was just COVID times, so only about half the tables were occupied. They do have a wait-list, but we were seated pretty quickly since I guess the people on the wait-list gave up on waiting (lucky us!). Food quality and taste here is pretty good. Their ramens offer either thin or thick noodles and the broth is flavourful, matching well with the toppings. Chasiu is thicker than most places and egg was kinda cold in the middle, but that's okay. We also wanted the slow cooked wings, but they were sold out by then (we were there around 8pm on a Sunday). Got the karaage instead and it was really yummy! It wasn't dry at all. You can expect each bowl of ramen to be about $15-20. There are several other ramen options east or west of here that I much prefer. read more

Sansotei is one of my favourite ramen places to go after a night of heavily drinking and maybe puking...? You know what I mean.. I really enjoy their shoyu (soy sauce) ramen and mr. Tran enjoys the tomato ramen. Their broth is deep, yet not overly salty just the right umami flavour you're looking for after a night of drinking. There are different toppings that go with every kind of ramen. The toppings are simple, but they just match perfectly to every bowl of ramen they offer. You can always add extra toppings to your ramen for extra $$. They give you the option of thick or thin ramen noodles. Zangi chicken (Hokkaido version of karaage chicken) is a must order! read more

The lady seems a bit all over the place, but she is very nice. Be a little more more patient with her~ Ordered the tonkotsu ramen (regular pork bone soup ramen) and dan dan ramen (spicy minced pork ramen). I would suggest thick noodle! More texture on the noodle! Soup is very favourable and thick, but the dandan noodles is a bit oily. I basically scooped the top oil off for mines~ Overall 4/5. Given there are so many ramen places, its hard to compete, but while sansotei is quite nice at their downtown location the last time I went, the Markham location seem to be lacking. The shoyu ramen was nice but nothing out of the ordinary. The broth was a bit on the salty side for me, but it was flavourful. Ramen was cooked nicely, and chasu was not tough, but overall there was nothing that stood out. read more

I was craving ramen last Thursday and dined in at Sansotei Ramen. Before dining in, we had to show our vaccine receipt and ID. The staff were very diligent with this and even asked me to provide proof of vaccination with my birthdate on it. For a Thursday night, it was a pretty packed restaurant. As we were leaving, there was a line out the door. I ordered the Tonkotsu with thick noodle and my boyfriend ordered the Spicy Tan Tan with thick noodle. We ordered a side of extra noodles knowing the usual portions are never enough. Both bowls of ramen were so good. The broth wasn't too salty, the noodles were nice and chewy and there was a fair portion of meat. Not as great as before. I used to be a big fan of this ramen shop. However as more ramen places from downtown migrate to Markham, this place has slowly lost its charm. There is just so many other competitive prices at their price point that made this restaurant become average. We went during a weekday lunch and had their black garlic ramen. It was ok at best. The broth as tasty but really nothing to write home about. The noodles were bouncy and was well paired with the broth. I do have to say though, you do notice the pressure inflation has had with these restaurants. Not only have the prices increased significantly but the toppings on the ramen were also affected. The bowl of ramen just felt lacking. It was less plentiful as before and sadly, I am not sure if I will be returning. What used to be a big bowl of noodles and food, is now much smaller. The broth and noodles have not changed but the amount of food and toppings and ingredients have definitely changed. read more

Normally I rate Sansotei Ramen quite highly, as I frequent the Toronto locations, however, the Markham location does not seem to be on par with the others. Located at the Hwy 7/Birchmount location, the plaza has a decent number of parking spaces. However, many of the spaces have a time limit of only 30 mins, but when I parked there for Saturday lunch, they didn't seem to enforce that rule. The restaurant was really busy for Saturday lunch and there were a few small groups ahead of us. The wait was about 15mins to get a table since customers usually finish their ramen pretty quickly, so it wasn't too big of an issue. We ordered a bowl of Tonkotsu and a bowl of Tonkotsu Black ramen. I specifically told the waiter for less salt and he wrote it down, but it didn't seem like the kitchen followed my request, as the soup turned out really salty that I didn't want to drink any of that after I had finished the noodles. I got my usual thick noodles and the texture of the noodles here seemed harder than the other Sansotei places, which I didn't like as much. Finally, the pork Chashu had a strange taste to it that felt kinda stale, and that was a huge red flag for me. Overall, the quality of the ramen here just wasn't on par with the other locations in Toronto, and I would definitely not return to this location in the future. But with that being said, the Sansotei brand still makes really good ramen, just this location felt off putting. read more

This was my first time coming to a Sansotei and it did not disappoint. Customer service was excellent. Although I waited about 30 minutes to get a table, they were prompt to take down my number and give me details on wait times. I found their COVID-19 protocols safe and thorough. I enjoyed my food. The ramen was tasty and filling. I think it's presentation was excellent as well. I was lucky enough to get to try the slow cooked wings (I hear it's often sold out). They were delicious. Came here today for lunch and I must say that their safety health protocols are top notch. Hand sanitizers was accessible at the front entrance and on each table. The noodle was cooked to perfection with the right amount chew to it. Soup base was a bit salty for my taste but was still delicious. Craving Ramen for dinner so decided to go to Sansotei Ramen. I came on a Thursday evening and put my name down since they were full. Mentioned it was about 15 - 20 min wait but we waited around half an hour. I recommend to plan your visit and anticipate the wait so you don't get Hangry. Once the text came in, I was seated fairly quickly. Collected the proof of vaccine and scanned the covid questionnaire. One tiny downside is that the ramen took long to come. The gyoza also came when I was almost finish with my ramen. For the food, I got the Shoyu and the Tomato. My go-to ramen is always Shoyu but wanted to try the Tomato for the Hokkaido Scallop. Let me start with the Tomato. The broth had good flavour and very savoury. It was also thick and you can taste the richness of the tomato. The scallop is incredibly massive. I recommend you to try this if you're a big fan of tomato soup. The Shoyu on the other hand, is normal. Not the best, but not the worst. The Gyoza had good wrapping. It was put together well and the texture was just right. Only downside is the filling. They could add a bit more. Overall, this place is not the best, but it's definitely not the worst. I would possibly come back here if I am craving ramen and near the area. But it won't be my top choice. read more

I am leaning towards 3.5 rating. The good: The ramen is so good when you're craving some warm, tasty, and soupy goodness. This location is bigger than the downtown one but the wait isn't too bad for a table since ramen is quick. I had the spicy tan tan, and when you've had it, the salt and spice is so satisfying with those thick noodles and perfectly made egg. The bad: For anyone who cannot have a high sodium intake, I would avoid at all costs. The broth is extremely salty...to the point I worry that it's a health hazard consuming this. I think it definitely surmounts the amount an average person can have in a day. Dine on but beware. read more

I am not a ramen connoisseur but my friends are and they love this place. My friend had asked me to go to pmall and it was a minus 3 billion degrees cold ass day. So I actually suggested we go for ramen if he wanted to, cuz all I wanted was soup. Bet. After pmall we headed over as they re-open for dinner at 5pm. The place was rammed just after 5 but we only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. I don't know the different types of ramen but my friend does. He suggested I get the misoblack but I made up my own damn mind and got the tonkotsu based on the description lol. He got the tonkotsublack. I have to admit their ramen was noticeably delicious. I've tried a couple ramen places in my life but this place was actually a standout. My broth was pretty flavourful but my friend's soup was way tastier. That garlic oil makes all the difference. Always get the garlic oil. I now know this. Also, our broths weren't too salty as other reviews have mentioned. I opted for the thin noodles as the server said the thicker noodles were a bit chewier. Noodles were great and just the right about. My friend and I were both stuffed after but I did manage to finish all the noodles. I couldn't finish the pork though. It was one or the other, or I would have exploded lol. I would defs recommend this place. I've found that other ramen places are so basic or so salty. Great spot for a nice hot bowl of ramen. We use to always dine in in the downtown location, but since moving uptown, we were happy to know that Sansotei was also in the markham area so whenever we had a hankering for soupy bowl of ramen, its close by. Our go to is always the tonkatsu black and the tan tan ramen. Tonkatsu black is super flavourful and it comes with a good amount of pork belly, bamboo shoots and egg. Noodles are always nice and bouncy and is never overcooked. The tantan ramen has a nice spice and the ground pork is cooked nicely in the mix, definitely a go to if you're feeling a little spicy. Chicken Karaage is also delicious, wish there was more in an order (only comes with about 4-5 pieces), but it never disappoints. Service is also always great. read more

I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with bamboo shoots and extra noodles (thick) as well as a side of Zangi (marinated karaage). Overall the bowl was meh, but I've outlined how I thought of each individual part of the bowl. Broth 1.5/5: The broth tasted very weak. It lacked a lot of umami and pork flavors, making the whole broth taste almost watered down. It didn't taste bad by any means but also didn't taste much like a nice tonkotsu. Mouth feel was about average, so they may be using too much trotters and not enough bones like back or neck. Tare 3/5: The tare on it's own tastes about average, but it could definitely use a lot more umami to make up for the below average broth. On any other broth it would be fine but because the broth is so weak it doesn't do much to help. I'd imagine the stronger tasting tares, like the shoyu or miso, would be a lot better. Will definitely try ordering one of those two next time. Aromatic Oil 4/5: The oil definitely made up for the lack of flavor in the broth. I'd imagine that most of the pork flavors coming from the ramen bowl is from the oil which is probably just lard. It helps to save the bowl overall. Toppings 3/5: Some toppings were okay while some I didn't like. The kikurage and green onions both tasted fine, but the bamboo shoots had a bitter taste to them which I really didn't like. The chashu pork didn't really taste like most chashu's I've had. The chashu flavor reminded me of Carnitas of all things. Not a bad flavor on its own but didn't really fit in with the ramen. The ajitama however was great, definitely one of the better tasting toppings on the menu. I also ordered kaedama (extra noodles) thinking the bowl wouldn't be enough to fill me up. Definitely next time I'll order my kaedama after I finish the first set of noodles since it was plenty to fill me up. Noodles 3/5: I ordered the thick noodles which was a mistake. You can definitely taste a lot more flavor (mostly from the kansui) from these noodles but it doesn't work too well with the weaker tasting broth. These noodles are better for stronger broths or tsukemen. Ordering the thin noodles next time. Sides: The Zangi was good. Not the best but also not bad. Next time I'll order a ramen with a stronger tare (black miso or shoyu), or the brothless ramen (mazemen limited time special). read more

Food: One of my favourite ramen places! I always get the tonkatsu black oil with thin noodles. The black oil adds an extra kick to the thick and dense pork soup base, which is the reason why I cannot resist finishing the whole bowl of soup every time. Their pork is also grilled to the perfect level as it is only crunch to the sides but not the whole piece of pork like crunchy bacons. I prefer thin noodles because the amount of soup it brings up in a bite is a good ratio between the two. Thick noodles is also good however I personally think thin is better Portion: Normal Environment: Normal, pretty full every time I come read more

We ordered two guida (fried dumplings) but the second one took about 40 minutes to arrive.
