Ordered a miso pork ramen and a coke for lunch. The pork was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Though I didn't really taste the miso in the broth. The place was small, but neat and tidy. Service was fairly quick and they were attentive. read more

Hana Ramen - Miso pork ramen - Sushi Bars Near Me - Scarborough, Ontario

Despite its size, Hana Ramen boasts a surprisingly extensive menu. Their tonkotsu ($15.99) seemed like the right place to start, the tried-and-true ramen staple you'll find at nearly every ramen shop. The star of the bowl is the chashu: thick slices of deep-fried pork with a crispy crackling exterior that gives way to rich, fatty meat that melts on the tongue. These honking slabs put the flimsy chashu at other spots to shame. The soft-boiled egg was equally impressive... jammy, well-seasoned, and deeply satisfying. I enjoyed all the garnishes too, from the pickled carrots that add a pop of brightness to the heart-adorned fish cake that's guaranteed to make you smile. Where the bowl falls short is consistency in the noodles. On my first visit, they were overly soft with a faint alkaline aftertaste. On a follow-up visit, though, they had more chew and no lingering finish. The tonkotsu broth is solid and not overly oily, which helps balance the fatty pork, and flavourful without being overly salty. It's a good option for those who don't want an aggressive bowl. You can order the ramen on its own or as part of a combo ($22.99), which includes karaage to start and cheesecake to finish. For rice lovers, the pork chashu don ($13.99) arrives with three thick slices of pork, a soft-boiled egg, caramelized onions, pickled vegetables, and broccoli over a generous portion of sticky rice. I appreciated that the sauce was layered into the rice, so even the bottom bites were full of flavour. There's also a plant-based chashu ramen for those leaning vegetarian. If you're a fan of Shanghainese beef noodles, Hana Ramen's braised beef ramen ($16.99) hits a similar note. Large chunks of tender braised beef are joined by egg, black fungus, bamboo shoots, and vegetables for a hearty, well-rounded bowl. The pork bone broth carries a gentle spiciness here, leaving a pleasant tingle on the tongue. And a nice bonus: all Hana Ramen noodle bowls come with a free noodle refill if the first serving doesn't quite do the trick. read more

Tips: - If you order the fried pork dumplings, they take some time to prepare. - Each washroom is a single stall and has a bidet. Two Wednesdays ago, I was running errands after work. I needed dinner. I felt like ramen. I did a search and found Hana Ramen. Perfect! I drove up Kennedy Road and made a right turn into the parking lot. Getting here was great. However, this eatery is on the northeast corner of Kennedy and Ellesmere. It took me a long time to exit this eatery to head north on Kennedy. It's a busy intersection and the Kennedy 43 bus stops right in front of the exit. A nice man let me into the lane. It's my only gripe about this place. Otherwise, come here! I had no problem backing into a parking spot and walking into this eatery. It's a long restaurant! I was greeted by a nice man. He led me to a table that was close to the kitchen and in the middle of the dining area, by the beverage fridge. You scan the QR code to get the menu. You then order online. I was at table B3 and the app knows. I got these items: - Ho Jun white peach soda - Fried pork dumplings - Miso pork ramen with an extra jammy egg I got a pitcher of water that had a sliced lemon in it. It was refreshing and quenched my thirst. I got my white peach soda that came in a bottle. I got a straw. It was delicious. It was fizzy and the peach flavour was excellent. I'd get it again. Ordering my miso pork ramen was different. There were so many combinations and exceptions that you could specify that it can seem overwhelming. The photo shows what you get in you ramen. In hindsight, it would have been helpful if it listed what toppings you got. I ordered an extra jammy egg. What I couldn't see from the photo is that it had bamboo shoots, which I'm not a fan of. I did manage to remove three slices. The removal was easy and didn't ruin my ramen experience. I specified getting seaweed, green onion, black fungus, and corn kernels. I was not charged extra for these items. It didn't take long for my ramen to arrive. It looked good. It was the best ramen that I have had in a long time. The broth had the perfect miso flavour without it being overly salty. The noodles were chewy and generous. I liked that the roasted seaweed was served on the side. They didn't get soggy until you dunked them into the broth yourself. The carrot slice was pickled. It added a surprisingly nice contrast. The jammy eggs were perfect. The best part was the pork belly. The two slices were crisped up so nicely that it crackled when you took a bite. It had more fat than your typical slice, but it was so flavourful because it was crispy. I dream about the pork from this place. So good! The fried pork dumplings took some time to arrive. I got them halfway through eating my ramen. Yumminess can't be rushed. They were long pan-fried dumplings. They were tasty. The pork filling was flavourful. The wrappers were the perfect thickness that allowed the best searing. They came with dipping sauce that paired nicely. There is free wifi. The password is just under the QR code. I approached the counter to pay for my bill. I tipped and tapped my credit card to pay. Done! I used the washroom before I headed home. There are two washrooms and each one is a single stall. It was my first time using a bidet. It was cool and fun. It felt so fancy! I loved having dinner here. Prices are decent. The food and drinks were fantastic. I'll be back for more. (109) read more

It's been 3 years since I've been to this Hana Ramen location. My first time the ramen was full of flavour and karage tender and moist. This time the ramen was missing an umami flavour and not as exciting. Food was mostly okay, just not wow. The service is attentive and prompt. Place is nicely decorated with cute lucky cats and a mural of Fuji mountain. But a very noisy table with kids screaming was disruptive to our meal, which is not something the restaurant could do much about. Overall not as enjoyable nor tasty, as the first time, 3 years ago. read more

After a spontaneous, relaxing beach day, we found Hana Ramen on route home, and decided to grab dinner here ^^ The prices looked absolutely affordable, the meal combos were very appealing, and the staff were friendly and attentive! P.S. The first refill of noodles is FREE! It was my first time having 紅燒牛肉烏冬 Braised Beef Udon, and it was actually pretty good, and has a bit of a kick! Combo 3 also comes with a large side of crab meat salad and agedashi tofu. The Unagi Don, on the other hand, was a bit too saucy for me; the rice was drenched on the bottom. Overall, it was still tasty, but I do prefer more white rice without sauce :p read more

First time visiting this restaurant and I had a great experience. Very nice cosy location with nice seating and not too busy. Perfect for not needing to make reservations or waiting a long time for a table. I liked how the Ramen includes the first refill of noodles for free. I was extra hungry today and asked for the refill to come right away, and ordered an extra portion of the braised beef. I ordered the Combo #2 which includes the Braised Beef Ramen with crab meat salad, and spring rolls. And also an extra side of braised beef. My wife ordered Combo #1 Tonkotsu, with Chicken Karage and a slice of cheesecake. I enjoyed my bowl of noodles and the beef was delicious, the soup broth that I received I perfectly seasoned, not too salty and not too spicy. The server was very considerate seeing my 5 year old daughter was a bit struggling with the seat that she had being slightly too low, and offered to change her to a slightly higher adult chair. I much appreciated this, and the server was very attentive to our needs throughout our lunch. I will be returning to this wonderful restaurant! read more

Hana Ramen - Braised Beef Ramen with black garlic oil and I replaced the pork broth for the veggie broth. - Sushi Bars Near Me - Scarborough, Ontario

The place is not easy to notice from the outside, but the inside is pretty spacious and homey, with cute decorations. The service was nice too. The staff was friendly and patient. The food had a good quantity, and was nice overall. The pork pieces in the ramen were so thick and tender. However, one thing I have to say is that the oil was a bit odd; both my friend and I particularly felt it while eating the karaages and fried dumplings, and we both experienced stomach upset in the afternoon. Hope the owner can look into it. Apart from that, it's a good place for a comfortable ramen meal in Scarborough. The restaurant is a bit small but definitely quite cozy. They have a variety of ramen and we got the original tonkotsu and spicy pork. Both had super tender slices of pork where the meat just melts in your mouth and a generous portion of noodles. They also provide one free portion of noodle refill! We also really enjoyed the egg (the yolk was amazing). The spicy pork broth was more spicy than expected but very good and came out hot. The chicken karaage came out very hot and was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Will be back! read more

What stood out right away for me was the very accommodating service provided by the staff here. There were a lot of times I found myself needing to request things such as extra bowls or utensils, and the server was very nice and prompt in working on them. Two people waited on our table - a guy and an older woman - and both of them were extremely pleasant people. The pricing of the food was great and towards the affordable side. They also have combo meals that offer way better value for the menu items compared to having to order them all individually. We tried the M4 Unagi Don ($15.99), a D8 3 pc Takoyaki ($3.99), and a B4 combo ($19.99), which had Tonkotsu, Karaage, and Cheesecake. Their cheesecake was a little different from what I came to expect, but it was different in a good way. The cheesecake was cold to the bite like ice cream, and there was some jello-like texture to it. Hana Ramen's cheesecake was not fluffy or spongy like with other places. The food taste was good. I only wished their timings were just a little bit better. The karaage that came as part of the combo meal came much later after the ramen. Our group had 4 orders of the B4 combo. 2 from our group ordered the M4 Unagi Don, and that came later after the B4 combo was served. So the people who ordered the Unagi had to start eating later than the rest. The last thing I want to mention is that the place was decorated and themed pretty well. Wallpaper shows a Mount Fuji, and there were also some flowers and Japanese design umbrellas hanging from above. Their washroom's toilet was also very modern and not something you always get from other such places. read more

Sometimes when I go to a Noodle Bar, I add ingredients that are usually associated with ramen into my Chinese fish soup. Hana Ramen is what I imagine it would be like if I added Chinese influence to my ramen. I will start off by saying that if you are looking for a ramen shop with traditional flavors, don't come here; none of the dishes here tasted like any other ramen shop I've been to in Toronto. However, if you like Chinese flavors and you like ramen, then this place may be the spot you've been missing. Here are examples of some of the fusion I experienced: -the outside of the charsiu had a sweet and smoky flavor that reminded me of Chinese bbq shops -the chicken karaage tasted similar to Taiwanese fried chicken -the braised beef ramen had some Sichuan Pepper flavor Thankfully I enjoy all of the food I listed above, it was just a but surprising to eat this together in a ramen shop. The service here was good. The staff were friendly and the food came quickly. The restaurant is a bit small, so if you are coming here more than 5 people, there is only 1 table that can seat you. Also bring a sweater because even though I came here on a spring evening, I was a bit cold until I got my soup. read more

A couple of girlfriends and I have been meaning to meet up... sans children and a workday, we decided to find a spot near home/work for a quick bite. Enter Hana! Having replaced the GB hand pulled noodle spot, we thought we'd give this a try. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have refills on their ramen! The first one is free...but we didn't need to ask for more as there was a pretty good amount of noodles in the bowl. I got the braised beef... a good amount of protein along with a deliciously soft boiled egg. The flavours were good but not quite as good as my beloved Taiwanese beef noodle soup. This is definitely good in a pinch but it's still hard for me to accept that a bowl of noodles is $16+ - I'm not meaning to take away from the art of making the broth, the meat... and everything, just me being an old fart and holding onto "old" pricing. The service could have been a little more attentive... and we barely sat down before the waiter stood over us, a little uncomfortably, waiting for us to decide. Either way, might not be my first choice but I wouldn't be opposed to coming back. read more

My new favourite ramen spot! Don't let the location of this place deceive you... while tucked away and unsuspecting from the outside, the food is delicious, service is friendly, and value is fair. One of the highlights of this spot is the menu variety. They have combo options that come with a bowl of ramen, a side dish, drink/dessert, all at a great price. When it comes to ramen, sometimes the portions aren't always the best and especially when I eat with my bf that's a big concern. So the combo option was ideal to make sure we both left full. I ended up getting the tomato tonkatsu while my bf got one of the combos that came with karaage and cheesecake. Another win is that their ramen comes with a free refill on noodles... neither of us had to refill because we were full from the initial portions. They came with more toppings than I'm used to, though I feel they maybe could provide more than the typical 2 pieces of protein (can't dock them for this though as this seems to be the standard amount all ramen places I've been to give). Lastly, I loved that the broth wasn't too salty or rich in MSG. I don't usually drink all the soup at ramen spots because of that reason, but the broth here was lighter and didn't make me feel gross about drinking it. We both looooved the mango cheesecake... so yummy! The only downside if I wanted to get nitty gritty is that while cute, the restaurant space is fairly small and doesn't seem like it'd be ideal to accommodate large groups. Some of the furniture seems a little makeshift and thrown together but that's not a concern at all for me. We will definitely be back to try other dishes or when we need to satisfy a ramen craving. read more

We got the Combo 1 that comes with Tonkatsu Ramen, a side of Karaage, and a slice of Cheesecake. Also got another Shoyu Pork Ramen and a side of Takoyaki. Overall, everything was pretty good, except for the chashu in the ramen that was very chewy and tough to eat. The Karaage was probably the best thing there because every piece was sooo crispy yet juicy and was great with the spicy mayo sauce. The menu also says they give 1 free refill for their ramen, but we didn't get it this time. TL;DR best Karaage we ever had. Worst chashu ever. Definitely would come back. read more

It was a late dinner when we stumbled upon Hana Ramen. The reviews were promising and we were hungry! When we arrived, we were immediately seated and we ordered the tonkatsu and shoyu chicken ramen. Service was excellent and the food came very quickly. When the food came, we knew this was not the type of ramen we were expecting. This was more of an Americanized version of ramen. The chashu was the best part of the dish. It was a thick cut of pork and had a great char. The noodles and soup however, didn't taste like noodles made in store. It lacked an authenticity that you could find in neighbouring ramen shops just west of this area. Although, it is not what we are looking for, I could see this appealing to someone else. Although the customer service was great, we will most likely won't be returning. read more

I'm leaving a review on yelp because the owner pissed me off in their response to my Google review :) To sum up the experience of my family and I- the food is actually terrible. Their server reconfirmed our order 4 seperate times, their seating arrangements left my family and I right in the middle of heavy traffic where we were quite literally 1 foot away from other customers, and the cherry on top is the accountability they refuse to take on every single negative google review they're left with. In fact they almost always mention their "surveillance system" in their responses almost as if to scare away the person leaving the review. As if they would intentionally return to this dump. Please avoid this place. It's not worth the money, uncomfortableness and the hours on the toilet you'll spend after consuming this "food". read more

I've been coming to this place pretty often, it's not too busy and I love the service. The restaurant is small inside but it's so beautiful and cozy. The decor is really cute Japanese styled dining. My go to is the spicy pork ramen; it is so flavourful and has a wonderful kick. The place isn't even pricy either, if you want a main dish; extra toppings, a drink and a side it's like $30-40 per person. I've eaten out many places in Toronto, this is local and sweet. read more

Hana Ramen - Spicy Pork Ramen with extra egg and chashu - Sushi Bars Near Me - Scarborough, Ontario

Discovered this ramen shop beside the pho restaurant that I was originally going to and decided to try it out instead. Was quickly greeted and led to a table by the owner who was very friendly. She asked if this was my first time here and went over the menu options. I ordered their tonkatsu ramen since it was my first time and I went with the safest option. Was pleasantly surprised with the meal. The egg was made perfectly and the chasiu pork was the perfect blend of juicy and fatty. I do prefer my broth a bit thicker but overall it was delicious. My only wish is different noodle thickness options in the future. Would return here whenever I am passing through the area. read more

1. Ramen was good and broth was flavourful 2. Pork char siu was overcooked and as a result, was burnt and tough to eat 3. We asked for a refill on the noodles and it didn't come for 20 mins so we reminded them and it took an extra 20 mins just to arrive (waited a total of 40 mins while the store was at 30% capacity) read more

There used to be 2 hidden gems on this busy Kennedy/Ellesmere corner. Now with the closure of our favorite Pho place, we're still thrilled to go to Hana Ramen for lunch or dinner. They have a nice variety of ramen and rice dishes. They even have karage chicken that is better IMHO than Katsuya's. Portions are good, the different broths I tried were wonderful, and the ramen bowls have free noodle refills. Plus they have a specials menu where you can order a set meal that includes an appetizer (their seafood salad is great), a main dish, and a slice of Japanese cheesecake. Service is very good although the design of the kitchen counter means staff may not see you waving for attention.:) Decor and ambiance is like a casual Japanese family restaurant with hand painting murals, bamboo dividers. They have one of those fancy Japanese toilets (more for novelty) and there is ample parking. Highly recommended! read more

Great food, perfect service, awesome ambiance. My son and I go once a week. We absolutely love this place.!!!

Chicken and eggs were cold in the middle, I don't understand. The broth was like water. My 7 year old nephew cooks better than this.

First things first Food was absolutely amazing, the service was also outstanding and they were very understanding and accommodating to our needs. The feel and vibe of the restaurant itself was so chill it made me feel like I was in Japan. The food I ordered was combo number B4, it comes with tonkatsu ramen, karaage and a slice of mango cheesecake. My friend however wanted to order combo B1 which normally comes with chicken ramen, agedashi tofu and seaweed salad. But since she didn't like chicken in her ramen she asked to change it to a shoyu tonkostu ramen. And which the waiter did without hesitation. the food itself was very good and the price was amazing The tonkatsu ramen had a good pork taste and was very creamy and savoury. The noodles were very tasty and springy which is always a good thing. it came with a soft boiled marinated egg which was definitely soft boiled and had a very delicate egg taste while not being overpowering. The chasu itself was cut very thick and had been fried to a point where the pork skin was crispy, which was an interesting take on chasu but nonetheless was very delicious and added some needed crunch and meaty feel. The additional toppings added to the ramen were: wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, Naruto, onions and seaweed sheets All ramens and noodle bowls had a very nice addition to it, extra noodles/refills of noodles were free. onto the last part of my review The toilet The washrooms were very clean and had a Japanese bidet on the toilet, the toilet seats were pre warmed and the toilet itself had multiple different features all useable via a remote to control the toilet. All functions that could be used were all on paper taped to a wall in front of the toilet labeling all functions in details to make sure you know what each buttons does. When you leave the toilet it automatically flushes and then proceeds to refill with water. All in all. I will be back to this lovely place. PS- they don't have sushi read more

The pork charshiu is not the type from Japanese, it's like siumei. And the ramen is not good too
