Fantastic and now part of my rotation of restaurants. Wife and i have been wanting to go here for over a year and finally had a chance to go and were not disappointed. Had the chef's counter experience which was great because we had the chance to have good conversations with Chef Daniel Cancino. We had the premium tasting menu all dishes were great to excellent. I would note the salmon main was a bit on the average side but everything else was fantastic. Standouts for me were the following: Ensaymada with duck prosciutto: the bread was cooked nicely and formed an excellent base to try with the amazing homemade butter and the burrata supplement. Be sure to save some caviar for this dish with the cheese. Scallop + tuyo: was very refreshing and and had a delightful citrusy taste. The little lime to squeeze on it was an excellent touch. The crisps was amazing. Hamachi grape and Hokkaido Uni: was an amazing mix of freshness, creamy hamachi flavour, sweetness of grape, creamy Uni and a great vinegary sauce. Perhaps my favourite dish of the night. Pineapple and kombu was a unique adventure I've never been on. Delicate slices of pineapple topped by crunchy kombu was a unique experience. Iberico pork collar served as a wrap and once again with the little lime was fantastic. Unctuous sweet pork with a generous portion surrounded by crisp lettuce and the acid of the lime was great. Drinks were also fantastic. Service was also amazing and attentive. You can tell the server is experienced with high end dining as the precision and timing of service was on point. Fast, observant, friendly. After finding out where he worked before it totally made sense. Overall a great restaurant. We will be back a lot. Decor was nice with a modern feel. Visited Mineral for the second time on a Tuesday to try their 7 course tasting menu for $79! It started with a butternut squash amuse buche. We swapped pork collar for scallop inari due to dietary restrictions. A lot of the dishes felt familiar from the 10 course menu. Standouts were: - Ensaymada with truffle butter: the bread was soo soft and fluffy and the honey exterior was just perfect with the whipped truffle butter. HIGHLY recommend adding the buratta. It was cold and creamy with the delicious scallion oil. - Charred Cauliflower: I know this is more of a side but the charred flavour qnd sweet sauce was great! - Miso Marscapone Bibingka: this tasted like gingerbread meets banana cake and was the perfect bite for the holiday season with the accompanying soft serve I would come back to Mineral, it's good value for the quality. I did feel like on my second visit the service wasn't as great. It took us a while to be seated and have our orders taken. The waiter also packed our leftovers for us and oddly packed the fish (which came with broth) in the same container as the side of rice so when we opened it up at home, we discovered the rice had soaked up all the broth. read more

I've been to Mineral twice now--once for the 12-course chef's omakase and more recently for an à la carte dinner--and both visits have been consistently impressive. The service really stands out; the staff is warm, attentive, and makes you feel like a welcomed friend rather than just another table. The dim lighting and intimate setting make it perfect for dates or relaxed conversations, and the central bar gives the space a nice energy, especially later in the evening. The food has been phenomenal across the board. I haven't had a dish I didn't enjoy, but a couple of favorites are the duck prosciutto ensaymada, which balances savory and slightly sweet in a really memorable way, and the pork collar BBQ wraps, which are tender, flavorful, and fun to eat. Overall, Mineral delivers on both ambiance and food, and it's a spot I'd easily recommend whether you're going for omakase or ordering à la carte. read more

Celebrated our anniversary here and had a great experience. Reservations are super easy through Open Table. When we made the reso, only bar seats were available to choose. When we got to the restaurant, they saw we requested a table if possible. There was a table available when we arrived, so they were able to seat us at one. The staff also made sure to wish us a happy anniversary. Right off the bat, we felt they intentionally made sure their customers have a good experience. The interior is very nicely decorated. There are tables around the perimeter of the space and the bar is on the inside. The food was fantastic. We came here because of a recommendation from friends and it did not disappoint. We debated between ordering a la carte or choosing the chef's menu. We ended up doing a la carte because there were a few items not on the chef's menu that we wanted to try. We got the hamachistek crudo, tuna kinilaw, iberico pork collar, beef short rib kare kare and ube leche flan. Everything was presented well, explained thoroughly and tasted so flavourful and balanced. Our favourites were the mushroom noodles and the iberico pork collar. They gave us a candle with our ube leche flan and a sample of their coconut cassave soft serve, which was a nice touch. The soft serve was unexpectedly really good! I came here to celebrate my mom's birthday! We chose to get the tasting menu ($99 pp). The actual menu has a lot of the foods that were on the tasting menu, which when ordered together, would have cost way more money than the tasting menu. We started with the cold appetizers, which were the highlight of the meal. The oysters are a must get, and the raw shrimp is super fresh. Onto the warm dishes, the ensaymada (brioche-like bun with truffle butter and duck prosciutto... omg) was also a highlight. The main dish was a salmon sinigang and my mom and I both found it so disappointing. With the price of the food, you'd think they'd pick a more expensive protein... and the main dish was just really mid compared to the dishes that came before it. The dessert was amazing though. The ube leche flan was amazing and they have rotating soft serve flavours... Ours was coconut cassava and it was so yummy! I think the food itself would be a 3.75/5, but the service elevated our experience. The servers were so friendly and attentive, and we even got a freebie dish in between our meal! TLDR: I think this is a really affordable tasting menu in the city. I think Mineral is worth a try, but I don't think it's a restaurant I would find myself going back to. read more

Came here for a celebration early February and we wanted to try the Omakase. The service was phenomenal. Nothing could beat that. Everybody was happy knowledgeable, and very eager. The atmosphere of this place definitely a chill spot to hang out good vibes good music. The food itself was flavorful. I think it didn't hit for me being a Filipino was the play on the dishes for example, - Lumpia interpretation should have a crunch factor to it perhaps crushed up lumpia wrapper on top. I just felt it to be kind of lackluster. It would be interesting to see if a solo diner decided to participate in the Omakase if they would also get family style dishes as the main entrée. Love the vibe of the bar, my friend and I were welcomed with a smile and had the choice of the table of bar. We chose the bar seats, and they were very accommodating of my tall friend (the bar seats are fixed). We got drinks and a la carte since we weren't too hungry. The drinks were delicious, and the bartender was super nice. For food we shared the Tuna kinilaw, Pork neck, and duck confit noodles. The flavours were all fresh and unique, and I liked the tuna the best. The duck confit noodles were super umami and filling, and the pork neck was good. I've bookemarked this Asian fusion restaurant on my wishlist for a while after seeing some good reviews and finally got to try their dinner. The price is quite expensive (100+ per person) with relatively smaller portion on most dishes. Service throughout the meal was attentive and most of the dishes were decent. We ordered pineapple with seaweed, burrata salad, ensaymada with duck prosciutto, mushroom noodles, pork neck, crispy broccolini, short rib and Uber leche flan to share. Among all the dishes, the stars were the sweet and sour pork neck which was super tender, the refreshing burrata salad and the duck prosciutto. The crispy broccolini was our least favorite dish. It was not crispy enough and overcooked with weird flavouring. The pineapple kombu was a creative dish with interesting combination of flavours. Mushroom noodles were good but missing a wowing factor. The flan was also yummy with very small portion. The short rib was super tender but the meat was a bit stale. Booked the tasting menu to celebrate a birthday and it was such a great experience! I find that filipino food is not commonly seen in Toronto/GTA so it was interesting to try out. Service was great from start to finish as our cutlery and plates were cleared promptly, chefs counter seating was cleaned and water filled in a timely manner. The whole vibe of Mineral was cozy but elevated. We were quite stuffed after this meal and we weren't expecting to be so. The tasting menu started off with the cold dishes, moving to warm and then a fish, rice and veg trio, before moving onto two desserts. The Chef explained everything to us as he presented it. I was surprised there was more truffle involved in the menu, so if you're not the biggest fan, then maybe skip the tasting menu. I enjoyed all the dishes and trying a new cuisine. After reading all the rave reviews about this restaurant on Yelp, my wife and I have been looking for a chance to come try this place out. So we came here for Father's Day. Overall I found this restaurant to be a solid 4 out of 5. Good service, solid food, but didn't leave me craving more. Our group was 3 adults and one kindergartener. So it made more sense for us to order a la carte instead of doing the tasting menu. We had: - pineapple kombu: an inventive dish with an interesting combination of flavours. I didn't expect it to be spicy, and maybe it didn't work as well with the pineapple. - burrata salad: solid dish. Good portion of burrata. - ensaymada with duck prosciutto add on: These sweet buns really hit the spot! You really can't stop at just one! The duck prosciutto complemented this dish well - mushroom noodles: a generally forgettable dish. Not bad, not spectacular. - pork neck: This was one of the stars of the evening. It's sweet and sour with a lettuce wrap. The pork was cooked perfectly tender with deep flavours. Definitely would order again! - beef short rib: rib singular. This dish felt like the opposite of the pork neck. The meat was a bit dry and relied heavily on the sauce for flavour, which was not well absorbed into the meat. - crispy broccolini; not crispy. The flavour was too sour for my taste. Did not like this dish at all. - purple flan.: As someone who generally doesn't order dessert, I found this little gem a delight! Our favorite restaurant we ate at during our first trip to Toronto. Everything was perfect - starting from the interior design & ambiance - then the friendly staff, and the food! This is a Filipino/Asian/Canadian fusion restaurant and I love how innovative their menu items are. I would have loved to try every item here but my bank account would not be happy. I like how they start your experience with an amuse bouche (stimulate your palate). They served a winter squash soup I think? Whatever it was it tasted amazing. I wanted to have a whole bowl of it. We ordered the Filipino bread, Inari scallops dish with garlic rice and the ube panna cotta as dessert. We noticed this place because of the ube panna cotta. And let me tell you - it was one of the BEST dessert I've had at a restaurant. Everything from presentation, texture, to taste - it was perfect! We savored every bite. Mineral is aesthetically beautiful. My friend treated me to this wonderful dinner for my birthday. The service was top notch. From bringing over a light to help us see the menu to cleaning our plates at the precise moments without being over bearing. Every staff was attentive and personable. They did a fantastic job hiring such a genuine team who look like they all enjoy working together. The cocktails were delightful, I asked the bartender/owner to surprise me and he did a fantastic job creating an unique and delicious whiskey cocktail. Food wise, everything was good but the stand out was the pineapple kombu. Such a simple dish but executed so beautifully with a burst of flavour and textures. The pork neck was soooo tender! We didn't care too much for the wrapped cod, it was good but nothing too special. The jumbo crab was well prepared but in my opinion it was too pricey, $36 for 2 legs. The mushroom noodles were quite rich and decadent, wasn't as inventive as I had hoped for. I found the prices were quite high but the service and ambiance made up for it! (An open letter to Mineral) My Dearest Mineral, I think I'm in love with you. When we first met back in 2019, I was instantly intrigued by your Filipino fusion ways. You had a pork neck wrap that I couldn't stop nibbling, a duck leg that was so tender, and seafood noodles that had me seeing stars upon first slurp. I wasn't completely head over heels about you yet then, given you're a bit pricey and offered a limited menu. But I went back a few times and knew I wanted to get to know you more. Then suddenly, you left for someone called Covid, and I wasn't sure whether it would be out-of-sight-out-of-mind or absence-makes-the-heart-grow-fonder. But now you're back, and after seeing you a couple of times since, I know it's the latter. Yes, you've changed a bit. Your Filipino roots are still there, but you've branched out more. And the change is good. Tried a few things at our last date and thought they were really good. The scallop inari pockets are not just a thing of beauty but also really tasty and well executed. The crispy brocollini is easily one of the best veggie dishes I've had in the city. The wrapped cod wasn't my favourite, but was flavourfully nuanced and delicately executed. The pairing of foie gras with your butter-golden ensaymada buns just brought it to another level. And the miso and pear torte had just the right level of sweetness, and that coconut pandan sorbet was the perfect complement to it. But I'm a sucker for your Filipino-based dishes. And the absolute standouts to me were a new dish and an old classic. The beef shortrib sinigang I tried for the first time was soooooo good. The beef was fall-of-the-bone tender and glazed perfectly. But it was the sinigang broth with its distinct sour-savoury that made this dish one of my favourite beef dishes in the city, period. And of course, your classic ube leche flan dessert is still one of the best fusion desserts I've had. So yeah, I'll scream it from the rooftops: I love you, Mineral. I know you are still a bit pricey and have a smaller space and a short menu. But you are absolutely perfect in how you create dishes that are comfortingly familiar but excitingly new. I hope you'll accept my proposal for a long-term relationship. First impressions - very nice welcome staff very welcoming... amazing. First reading of menu - your choice of tasting menu or à la cart we decided all's cart- tasting menu 95$pp. we got 2 appetizers and 4 mains. Food - food was very good, ingredients were all fresh and well presented. Portions were very small. Even the pasta dish, $36 too small. Burata salad $40., Overall, food was very good, great service, however the restaurant is trying to be something it's not , high end exclusive. Mineral is a Midtown newcomer offering Filipino dishes that's infused with other cultures. Yes, dare I use the F-word? It's fusion. There's Japanese elements in my favourite dish of the night, the seafood noodles ($26). The squid ink pasta tossed in a white wine (?) broth that gets creamier when the uni gets mixed in, creating a simple sauce with a pleasant briny ocean taste. They don't skimp on the seafood with large prawns and chunks of scallop, a fried shrimp head tasty to munch on if you're not squeamish about eating that sort of thing. Similar Asian flavours continue with the pineapple and kombu ($9), the fruit intensifying from being roasted and then topped with a kombu (kelp) chili oil that's reminiscent of a milder XO sauce, adding a sense of umami and heat to the dish. Who would have thought fruit could be so savoury? Their roasted duck leg ($28) is less Chinese BBQ and closer to duck confit. Except, in lieu of a red wine jus it sits in a lovely peanut curry and is paired with steamed rice... if only there was more of the sauce for the grains! If you wanted a bit more flavour, a red crab paste sits on the side, which was rather light for something that's so intensely red. The side of miso wok fried broccolini ($18) was a great idea, the seasoning adding an unexpected richness to the vegetables for something that looks like it's just topped with almonds. A bit of citrus gives it a fresh finish, pairing well with the richer duck. Two dishes that seemed more traditional were the first and last bites. We started with an ensaymada ($3), a sweet egg bun topped with melted aged white cheddar and smoked butter. I've never had many chances to have Filipino food but this upscale spot has been on my list forever, and I'm so glad we gave it a try! Tuna Kinilaw: This was their take on a tuna tartare. The tuna was plentiful and had a great balance of flavors, not to mention the crab chips were so good! They were crispy and not oily at all Ensaymada: This was like a really soft and warm butter roll, with cheddar and honey with truffle butter on the side, it was DELICIOUS! We added the optional foie gras and it was so rich and decadant! Lingcod: This was roasted in a banana leaf with caramelized coconut and a tomato dill salad. The fish was tender, however I think I was expecting more umami flavors. Confit Duck Leg: This was actually really good. The duck was so tender, and the peanut jus at the bottom was fragrant and aromatic Ube Leche Flan: This dessert was unreal, it had this creamy ube flan with pieces of honeydew, as well as crunchy bits. I can't wait to come back for this The service was great, even though we only booked a bar spot, they had a table open up and offered for us to sit at a more comfier booth. Mineral is a high-end Filipino restaurant with great vibes and good quality food, however I was hoping for a stronger Filipino flair. I thought it would be traditional Filipino food with a twist, but was more Asian fusion than pure Filipino cuisine. The Ensaymada with Duck Prosciutto and truffle butter was my favourite. It was my first time having duck prosciutto and I fell in love with it - the only prosciutto I want is duck from now on . The pineapple with Kombu is also a surprisingly good combo. The duck confit was made very well, the duck was very juicy inside and crispy on the outside. Their Kare Kare sauce tasted very much like Chinese peanut sauce to me. Kare Kare is supposed to be a peanut butter based beef & oxtail stew. This peanut sauce was sweet and bright but was lacking the heartiness that the oxtail and beef innards would have brought. It was served with their house XO sauce. I've never had Filipino cuisine that tasted so similar to Chinese cuisine, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to taste like this. As for service, staff is very attentive and friendly, but it would be more interesting if they explained the origins of the dishes in further detail. We tried the tasting menu at $90 per person & below is what we tried. Apps - complimentary amuse bouche: cold creamy soup. such a firecracker start to the meal. Took me a couple months to get around to writing this review (oops), but I really enjoyed this restaurant! The vibe inside is super nice and a bit upscale, but still feels casual. Great service, and really tasty food, though a bit on the higher end. Seafood noodles: honestly, probably one of my favorite noodle dishes I've had so far. The noodles themselves were really delicate, but still al-dente, and had a slight squid ink taste to them. The broth is a bit sour, but coats the noodles well and is super flavorful. Scallop was cooked perfectly, ikura was juicy, and prawns were pretty fat. Only gripe is that the uni was a bit bland, but otherwise, I thought the dish was pretty spot-on. Ensaymada: never really had this before, so wasn't too sure what to expect, but it tasted like bread? It sounded really fancy (cheddar, smoked butter, hojicha honey), but I couldn't really pick up the hojicha -- some bites had a faint cheesy flavor though. Miso flan: I actually really liked the dessert: salty and sweet, and luscious. Had some fun crunchies to break up the texture, and the red dots changed up the flavor. Cake: pretty good, but I'm kind of impartial to cake. My friend liked it though. Mineral adds a much needed daring paint stroke to the culinary landscape of Summerhill/Rosedale. With some great if not dated restaurants surrounding it, Mineral stands out by putting as much care in the details of the experience as it does the food. The wraparound, black-slab marbel countertop invites a feeling of community as groups of two and single diners swap glances at each other's food choices. The blue velvet benches and bar stools hark back to the eighties, but the design of said seats bring the material to modernity. The general feeling is comfortable, classy, and social. I came in for lunch, choosing the silken tofu from a focused menu with not more than ten items. The dish came thoughtfully presented with splashes of autumn colour which ultimately reflected the warm, hearty flavours on the plate. The tofu itself is sealed inside a thin, chewy exterior which introduced a mochi-esque bounce to the otherwise fantastically soft tofu. Everything is submerged in a balanced dashi broth that adds umami without drowning out the flavours in salt. In addition to the kabocha squash and brussel sprouts are chopped pieces of delicious, thick cut bacon, which adds a meaty bite - almost a crunch, but not quite - marrying the savoury flavour of the broth with the almost sweet tofu. It's a neat place. Love the blues, the designs on the ceilings and the walls. The place was half full when we came in November and we were seated at the bar. The chairs were surprisingly comfortable and there is a hook underneath but there's really not enough room for your legs and your bag. We got the Scallop & Apple ($14) to start. The dish has six large scallops in a gooey liquid, topped with diced apples. I loved the scallop, but the sauce was way to salty. My friend and I ended up wiping off some of the sauce on the plate which made it much more enjoyable. I'm not sure if we would have been able to finish the dish if we hadn't. Seafood Noodles ($26) came next and the dish was smaller than I expected. It's in a sour and spicy sauce which I wasn't really a fan of and the seasoning on the scallops were too salty. The uni taste was very faint but I didn't care for the noodles anyways so it wouldn't have changed anything. I was looking forward to this dish the most and was disappointed. The Wagyu Flat Iron ($57) is the priciest item on the menu and even though the Wagyu was very good, I'm not sure it's worth the price. I STG I don't hate on salt nor do I eat very bland, but the chimichurri was too salty. Compared to the other two salt disasters, this one wasn't as bad. I ended up really just eating it with just the bone marrow butter, which was good, but not $57 good. I really don't think the chimichurri and sea asparagus would have made it worth it even if it wasn't overly salty. We added the rice ($5) because it was recommended for the dish and that really helped with the saltiness. It's pretty pricey for rice though and it wasn't anything special. I feel like their food would be so good if there was just less salt, so I want to give them 4 stars because I know they can do it. At the same time though, I can't because it was honestly just very salty. read more

Excellent execution of contemporary south East Asian fusion cuisine (with recognizable Filipino accents). Everything was delicious, fresh (both food and conceptually) but starters were particularly strong. Service (Ashley) was professional, attentive and personal.
