Isaan Der is an iconic Thai restaurant. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-13. This is their newest location (with 80 seats). Their Queen St E location (with 50 seats) has been moved to this location; the old location is now closed. This location is now their flagship location, with a newly expanded menu. Their kitchen is twice the size! The menu is also greatly expanded, with many new items! We ordered the following: 1. Thai Iced Tea ($7). 2. Thai Green Tea ($7). 3. Thong Pong Grob 6 pcs ($12). 4. Golden Bag 5 pcs ($16). 5. Pad See Ew ($22). 6. Mango Coconut Sticky Rice ($15). The customer service was excellent. As usual, the food presentation was good and the taste, excellent! The Mango Coconut Sticky Rice was in the shape of a heart, which was appropriate, since we were there on Valentine's Day. The interior was tastefully decorated with Thai items, including that basement washroom area. There was plenty of indoor seating. There is one TV screen if you want to watch it but most people ignored it. We managed to meet the owner there, which is always a pleasure. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-openbutton. There are separate male/female washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-024

This newly opened Thai restaurant in Toronto Chinatown, led by Chef Ko, is serving unique dishes! Chef Ko brought her dreams and aspirations from Thailand to Canada and now is opening her 3rd location in Spadina Chinatown. Tum Tang (cucumber salad) - not a fan of cucumber in general, but my friends loved it Laab Moo Tod (Pork Meat Balls seasoned with lime juice and Thai spices) - I find this a little plain Pad see ew (Thai Stir Fried Noodles) - typical in every Thai restaurant Yaang Platter (sausage, shrimp, pork liver, squid, sticky rice patties) - this was a must-try, never had this before in a Thai restaurant Khao Piek (housemade noodle with minced pork and boiled egg in thick pork broth) - MY FAVE Pla Neung Manao (seabass in lime sauce and lemongrass) - perfect during the cold weather Mhok Pla (steamed sea bass with herbs in a banana leaf) Mango Coconut Sticky Rice - cannot go wrong with this dessert Exterior creates an ambiance that brings you back to Thailand!

Finally got to try Isaan at their new Chinatown location. Got plenty of dishes to share: Papaya salad, fried chicken, green curry, pad see ew, khao soi, pineapple fried rice, mixed meat platter. I enjoyed everything except the pad see ew, lacked wok hei, and wasn't too flavourful. The same with the pineapple fried rice but I usually would get this. The items that's stood out were the fried chicken and khao soi. The chicken tasted like crispy roast chicken and very juicy inside. The khao soi was also rich and came in a generous portion. Very nicely decorated from the front entrance to the washroom. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. Also got to meet the chef a the end, very sweet lady and wish her all the best!

I was so excited for Isaan Der to open their 3rd location in the heart of downtown, closer to me now. I'm always craving their pad see ew noodles and fish green curry. Chef Ko was the first Thai chef to use fresh wide rice noodles for the Pad See Ew. Chef and owner Ko is such a lovely person and is so passionate about her food, if you haven't tried her authentic Thai food you're missing out. The original restaurant is in the junction area, they opened their second location in Richmond Hill and now in Chinatown. I am predicting success at this location as well since I'm sure she will get regulars coming for her delicious food. When you walk in, the colours look rich and vibrant and the decor is welcoming. They have a ton of seating that's great for larger groups. This restaurant has specific items that are unique to the location. I loved the Piing Pla (grilled sea bass fish with Thai seafood sauce), Tom Zaap Leng Valcano (tangy with a bit of heat pork bone soup), Gai Tod Der(Isaan Style fried chicken),Tum Taang (spicy cucumber salad) and the Khao Piek (house made noodle soup with pork) this dish brings back childhood memories of when my mom used to make this soup, it's a Lao Thai dish and the texture of the noodles and the comforting flavour of the soup will make you want to go back for more! Don't forget to get their delicious Thai iced tea, or finish off with some refreshing tea from ChaTraMue just up the street. Will have to come back to try their dessert since we were stuffed.

We saw this place while driving in Chinatown and decided to visit it. The service is excellent and the restaurant has a lot of seating space. The decor is amazing and thoughtful. We ordered for Pad Thuk and Golden Bag, along with Thai Ice Tea. We also tried the home made coconut ice cream. All items were flavorful. We also got to meet the owner who shared her inspiration and vision for the restaurant.

New location with traditional Thai inspired ambiance. Food is amazing with new items that you cannot get at the other locations. Moving from Queen East to Chinatown was a great move as it is more central to all. Defitely great to order the classics but would recommend coming to try the exclusive items.

That was legitimately the best pad Thai I've ever had! The Tom Kat soup was also excellent.

However, the quality of the dim sums seemed to have declined since I've last been there. Makes me wonder if they've changed chefs. A few comments: Har gow- average. Siu Mai - under seasoned and a little too porky in flavour. Wo kok - I keep forgetting to use curry in this. I really don't prefer that. Char Siu rice noodle - solid. Fried pork and shrimp dumpling - not good. Steamed spinach and shrimp dumpling - slightly below average. Sesame ball with black sesame - Excellent. Fried garlic shrimp dumpling. - Dumpling itself is fine. However, the dip should be the salad dressing sauce, not just simple mayonnaise. There should be a tanginess to it.

We ordered a bottle of Rose and some bbq buns...which I forgot to snap a picture of. The buns were excellent and the wine was quite nice. Most of their dim sum had shrimp and my wife doesn't like shrimp so we pivoted and ordered sweet and sour pork and pineapple fried rice. The sweet and sour pork was very good, but would have liked more sauce. The pineapple fried rice was kind of bland, but when mixed with the pork it was amazing! We enjoyed our dinner and the amazing view. We will be back!

I didn't see this deal advertised outside, but Kinton Ramen Harbourfront has a summer deal where you can get a ramen, drink, and gyozas for under $20. It was well worth the price, except the drink was watered down a lot. The service was alright in that the waiter didn't talk much at all. The food came quickly though. The ambiance is casual and great for when you want to dine alone.

We decided to walk up to Queen Street to see something we hadn't seen and seemed like a good area with a wide variety of restaurants. I was almost writing this review for the one on Dundas Street, but realized there are a few locations in downtown. Glad I double checked. We walked up along Spadina to Queen, not all the way up to Dundas. We were weighing options, but we were unsure what we wanted and struggled. We almost ended up at another restaurant with live music outside, but we weren't being served and wasn't enthusiastic about their menu. So, we looked at a couple of options. We didn't want Chipotle or Chick Fil-A; I can get that anytime as I live near those in Maryland. Also, I wanted cuisine that was harder to find near where I live. Ultimately, we settled on Mogouyan Hand-Pulled Noodles. After a lot of hunger trying to decide, this ended up being an excellent choice. Server was friendly answering our questions. It was moderately priced. We got their hand-pulled noodles, which was a large bowl, and was delicious with beef, veggies, & plenty of noodles. I also got their Japanese Toki brand whiskey. This was a FINE choice at a reasonable price. We got into some conversation with the server about being from the US and various other topics. This was an excellent experience, highly recommend.
