Sala Kitchen has to be hands down my favourite Thai restauraunt in all of not only Toronto but the GTA. The staff are amazing, shout to Porruthai who always remembers my drink (Viet iced tea) and the Khao Soi with Beef Rib. This beef rib is cooked so beautifully and perfectly every time I'm there, the meat falls off the bone by just jabbing it with your fork and its so moist and delicious. And the boiled egg split in two is perfectly cooked. Such a small detail but some people overboil eggs and you'll see grey on the egg, but at Sala Kitchen its perfectly yellow and not grey meaning the perfect amount of boiled. I've taken friends here many times and hope to come for many more!

Excellent place delicious Thai food. Street paid parking or green P parking around. On the Danforth. 2nd time going. Ordered app pork jowl, and 3 mains tom yum pad Thai, pineapple curry, larb, and 2 desserts roti and ice cream. Pork Jowl thinly sliced, crispy edges came with dipping sauce was good wasn't expecting that. Mains pineapple curry with chicken hands down my favourite. Then the tom yum pad Thai had a bit more citrus and kick spicy notes to it noodles nicely done ( too busy eating forgot to take pictures). Larb was not my fav hard to share. Missing lemon grass/ mint notes as per menu. Lettuce was held to the core not separated and put in the basket. Sticky rice hard to get out cucumber sliced really thick bigger than lettuce. A bit tricky to assemble. My least favourite nothing bad just not my thing. Also the added shrimp chips were a nice touch. It think the plates huge plate with noodles make plates look small visually. Service okay no complaints took order delivered food took plates. Gave new plates. Only thing is hard to share or eat curry on small flat plates , bowl would be ideal. Table decorations flower blue water bottle nice touches. Also special offer of lobster paid Thai 39$ which we didn't order. Maybe next time Let's talk about the ice cream. I usually don't care for banana flavored anything. But holy heck this banana iced is out of this world. It's like a caramelized roaster banana ice cream. Gosh dang you'll dream about it. Coconut next is delicious and then mango. I think there is some dairy in it for my lactose intolerant friends so check or take your lactase. Roti wise I think too sweet on the inside banana and Nutella over powers the ice cream. I do like the extra crispiness to the roti. Though personally presents very nice with the Coconut shell however looks small for 15 $ There also a flight of spicy sauces in shot glasses if you want to enhance your meal or have a spicy outcome later. It gets busy so RSVP a table. We were offered 10 percent off for cash payment! Accessible there are stairs to go downstairs to washroom. Store front no steps to go in. Smaller dining area about 15 tables. One side is bench seating with cushions other is chairs

August 26, 2025 - I tried the pad Thai from Sala. It was a nice and cozy place. The pad Thai was great and they offered a variety of different sauces to enhance the flavour of the food. Everything from chili oil to a fish sauce. I mainly went with the chili oil and it added a great kick to the already great Chef Mo Pad Thai.

This is a Thai restaurant in the Danforth area. I tried: - Chef Mo Pad Thai - with Chicken ($21) - Khao Soi - with Chicken ($21) - Massaman - (Halal) ($27.5) - Thai Roti ($4.50) - Mango with Sweet Sticky Rice - ($11) Overall, the food is great with a nice balance of flavors but not overly strong. I'd recommend the Khao Soi as I found that to have a good flavor while being quite unique. Personally, I found the Massaman quite oily, with the carrots and potatoes undercooked, but the beef was fresh and the flavors were good here. The rice served in the side is cooked nicely, and the Pad Thai is pretty good as well. The mango sticky rice is good as well. The roti is deep fried and a bit oily as well, but it's nice and crispy if that's the type of roti you are looking for. The interior is nice, and the service is fast. There are some sauces on the side, although I didn't use any of these. The dishes were definitely already flavorful enough. There is also a 10% cash discount.

Ordered UberEats from Sala for the first time and every dish I ordered was amazing and super tasty. We got the mango sticky rice, green curry with coconut rice and chicken pad thai. Pad thai was fragrant and flavourful, also big portion. Green curry was creamy and just the perfect amount of spicy. And the mango sticky rice was to die for. I hope to visit the restaurant one day instead of having it on UberEats!

We are at danfourth so since this place was on my list, I had to try it, we had the chicken khao soi, service was quick the only thing I didn't like was it was really expensive and the portion size was small. The broth was super flavourful just right amount of heat and their chilli oil was dynamite so flavourful, good heat, the noodles were so good and the chicken was very tender and juicy. Yeah it's just their price was the negative for me and there was a wasp inside and if they can clean their glass that would be great. The broth was so good I would say one of the best Thai food I ever had in my life, I wish they added more you are charging so much money and the portion is so small. The best thing to do if you are trying multiple restaurants take one dish from each place, it's cost effective.

This place shows up on many top Thai places in Toronto and it definitely lives up to those high standards. Food here is cooked perfectly with lots of great flavours and beautiful presentation. One visit and you will be hooked. My favorite is the King prawn pad Thai. These Prawns are massive and the pad thai is pairs up perfectly with them. The beef rib Khao Soi is also amazing. The beef really falls off the bone and is enhanced by the tasty curry. A great place to bring your friends.

This place was outstanding! We didn't have a reservation but they snuck us in and told us we had an hour before the next clients came - perfect! Drunken noodles with tofu, pad see yew, and outrageous coconut ice cream - we would definitely come back, every week if we lived nearby!

Sala is a small restaurant located on the danforth. Make sure to make a reservation! The standouts of the meal are the mango sticky rice; beautiful presentation and wonderfully flavourful! The spring rolls were another standout item; crispy and delicious. I also ordered the pad Thai, which was good, but not as wonderful as the other two dishes. They serve a variety of hot sauces on the side.

This is one of the best spots for Thai food in the city! From the flavourful dishes, large portion sizes, and amazing service, everything hits the mark. We tried the Laab and Pineapple Curry, both of which were delicious! Also if you check in on Yelp, you get a free Thai Iced Tea, which was great as well. Will definitely come back to try more dishes!

Came here for lunch. Well decorated restaurant. Washrooms were clean. Food is delicious and portions were good for the price. They also do cute rice cones.

There are many average Thai restaurants in Toronto, a few bad ones, and a few stellar ones. Sala has a laid-back ambience, with a mix of traditional Thai decorations, photos of happy diners, and a testament to Muay-Thai boxing. Service was very efficient. The menu had two things crossed off. I'm not sure whether that's because they were out for the day, or because they haven't had time to reprint the menu. I asked for the Som Tham Thai salad and the Jean's Coconut Noodles. Jean Seow was one of the chefs I followed around town because her food was just that good. Unfortunately, it seems like they missed putting an X through this menu item, because it wasn't available. (Which suggests to me a menu reprint is probably necessary.) So I got the Pad Thai without the tamarind sauce. It's called Tom Yum on their website, but had a different name on the menu. When I ordered the salad, the server asked me if spicy was ok, and I said yes. This was as advertised, a crunchy mix of carrot, papaya, a few chilis, and an umami rich dressing. And it was spicy, not overpowering the flavour, but if you can't handle spicy, then make sure you let them know. The Pad Thai was next. The presentation on both the dishes was amazing. I took a bite, and it was hot. Not hot as in spicy. Hot as in I started thinking how many times I've been served gloopy lukewarm Pad Thai in other restaurants without thinking about it. Sweet, savoury, a bit of heat, this was a phenomenal dish. I always enjoy a good Pad Thai without tamarind, and this was amazing. The shrimp chips tasted like shrimp (something that needs to be said, even though it sounds idiotic), and were a nice textural addition to both dishes. And I can't forget the roasted peanuts in the salad doing the same thing. So, to me this is one of the stellar Thai restaurants in town. I will definitely be returning. And a tip for all patrons: bring folding money, they currently offer a 10% discount if you do.

I LOVE Thai food! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sala Modern Thai Kitchen with a couple of friends and the food was outstanding! I even met the owner, Chef Mo, who is so warm and inviting. She even invited me into the kitchen to shoot a few pics. Spectacular! Our evening started with Golden Baskets and Thai Calamari for appetizers. What a great start! Both were delicious! Our main courses included Chicken Khao Soi, Pad Kee Mao, and Lobster Pad Thai. Each dish was cooked to perfection! The khao soi was beautifully presented, with the chicken and sauce poured over the noodles at our table. The pad kee mao was a more rustic looking dish, while the lobster presentation was a work of art! I was so tempted to defy my shellfish allergy and dig in! The desserts were the perfect finish to this excellent meal. We had Banana Ice Cream, MangCo (Mango Sticky Rice with Mango Ice Cream), and BuddyMe (Roti Pancake with Coconut Ice Cream). The ice creams were all made in-house and were exceptional! What a great meal this was! I highly recommend Sala Modern Thai Kitchen!

Located inside Rival Sports Pub on the Danforth, it is definitely a hidden gem and not something you'd expect. We started off with the Siren Spice Rolls (spring rolls with jerk chicken), which had a nice spice to them and juicy, tender chicken, and the Golden Fire Dumplings (jerk chicken encased in plaintain dumplings). Although neither my partner or I are generally a huge fan of plaintains, the flavours were balanced well and the dough was cooked well without being too dry. Our next course were the velvet oxtail clouds, a steamed bao filled with slow-braised oxtail and pickled beets. The oxtail had a bit of spice and was out-of-this world, especially paired with the tanginess of the beets. I could eat a whole dish of this. Next we were served the Bake & Shark - mini fried bakes with breaded fried Black-Tip Shark with house-made tamarind and mango chutney. This was our favourite dish of the night, with the light airiness of the fried dough and the delicious shark, which tasted like a really good fish at first, but then evolved into a chicken flavour. The mango added a nice freshness to it, along with the slaw. Highly recommend if you stop by! Our last savoury course was the chef's take on steak and potatoes (not on the menu), with thin steak served on mash. We finished off with the Island Dream Crème Brûlée and Coconut Panna Cotta. Every dish was delicious and really highlighted island flavours. Chef Ling mentioned that the tasting menu changes each time, so we will definitely be back as there are several more items on the menu we'd like to try (aka the doubles)! Honourable mention to the wonderful service that was just the right amount of attentiveness!

The curry chickpea has a good heat and heft to it, the flatbread is soft and not overly oily. - Mango Chow: Really sweet and also tangy. Can double as either a great side or even a light dessert. Service is friendly. Menu is diverse. Prices are what prices are these days. Located in Rivals Pub, hope Chef Ling is here to stay!

There's a nice pink flower wall in the entrance and the interior is a bit dark and cozy with velvet booths and a nice bar. We ordered oysters, kaizen toast, tofu, steak, sea bass, lobster spaghetti, and broccolini. A few thoughts: - the oysters are nice, I appreciate the tiny bits of rice that add a bit of a texture. They come with toppings already so if you're looking for just plain raw oysters, don't order these - the kaizen toast is one of their specialities. It's pretty heavy (with the foie gras and unagi) but delicious if you like all the toppings! We split between the three of us and that was the perfect amount - the steak frites were cooked perfectly and I enjoyed that the fries were truffle fries! - I would have preferred the broccolini sauce to be on the side, it was a bit heavy I also tried a lychee fizz, good, but I would probably try something else next time. Overall, a nice time especially for a nice dinner, date tonight, or celebration.

We started off with cocktails and got the Lychee Fizz, which is their most popular option. It lived up to the hype: light, flavourful, and incredibly refreshing. A perfect drink to ease into the evening. Appetizers kicked off with the Corn Dog & Caviar, which came as four perfectly crisp bites. The contrast of the crunchy exterior with the melted cheese, sausage, and caviar-mayo topping was indulgent and playful; elevated comfort food at its finest. For mains, we shared the Lobster Spaghetti, Grilled Sea Bass, and the Slaw. The spaghetti was packed with generous chunks of lobster, al dente pasta, and a breadcrumb-like topping that added an unexpected but welcome crunch. The sea bass was tender, flaky, and full of flavour, while the slaw - a sleeper hit - stood out with its mix of veggies, peanut sauce, and crispy wonton strips that gave it depth and texture. We ended the night with the Pandan Cake, a sizable chiffon-style cake topped with passionfruit, dark chocolate, strawberry, raspberry, and sakura dust. Admittedly, I was unsure how all those bold flavours would work together, but somehow it did! Delicate, airy, and perfectly balanced. Jade is the kind of place that impresses not just with its food and cocktails, but with its atmosphere and attention to detail. Had the chef's counter experience which was great because we had the chance to have good conversations with Chef Daniel Cancino. We had the premium tasting menu all dishes were great to excellent. I would note the salmon main was a bit on the average side but everything else was fantastic. Standouts for me were the following: Ensaymada with duck prosciutto: the bread was cooked nicely and formed an excellent base to try with the amazing homemade butter and the burrata supplement. Be sure to save some caviar for this dish with the cheese. Scallop + tuyo: was very refreshing and and had a delightful citrusy taste. The little lime to squeeze on it was an excellent touch. The crisps was amazing. Hamachi grape and Hokkaido Uni: was an amazing mix of freshness, creamy hamachi flavour, sweetness of grape, creamy Uni and a great vinegary sauce. Perhaps my favourite dish of the night. Pineapple and kombu was a unique adventure I've never been on. Delicate slices of pineapple topped by crunchy kombu was a unique experience. Iberico pork collar served as a wrap and once again with the little lime was fantastic. Unctuous sweet pork with a generous portion surrounded by crisp lettuce and the acid of the lime was great. Drinks were also fantastic. Service was also amazing and attentive. You can tell the server is experienced with high end dining as the precision and timing of service was on point. Fast, observant, friendly. After finding out where he worked before it totally made sense. Overall a great restaurant. We will be back a lot. Decor was nice with a modern feel. This comes kind of like kbbq with ssamjang, chimichurri, house pickles, white kimchi, salad and lettuce wraps. The wagyu was perfectly cooked, fatty, melt in your mouth and tasted amazing as is with just some sea salt. Overall, lots of delicious dishes here and I'd be back!

Who would have thought I'd enjoy the spicy scallions and avocado slaw ($11) so much? The simple…read moremixed green and vegetable salad was enhanced with a flavourful sweet and spicy sesame dressing, pickled chili, and crispy shallots. What a refreshing way to start the meal and a good palette cleanser for the heavier dishes as well. We found the scallion slaw was much tastier than the Hakka ginger mushroom salad ($14), where the ginger soy glaze was too pungent and thick against the deep-fried mushrooms, which were great on their own. The dressing almost seemed like a very gingery hoisin and chili bean paste that overpowered all the fungi and vegetables. A lighter vinaigrette tossed with the mixed greens, carrots, and green onions, while leaving the fried mushrooms simply seasoned with salt would have worked better. The jap chae ($14) is large enough that it can even work as a main for one person. While the sweet soy sauce was too liberally added, I liked the abundance of mushrooms, vegetables (bok choy, carrot, bell pepper), and seasoning (pickled chili and crispy shallots) that were evenly distributed amongst the glass noodles. The starch itself was cooked perfectly so there was a bit of bite to the noodles. A sprinkle of scallions or some other herb on top would have added that fresh element that would really round out the dish. As we were working our way through the starters, we realize that Neon Tiger doesn't provide any sharing utensils with each dish. Ultimately, they ended up giving us extra pairs of disposable chopsticks to use, which is environmentally wasteful considering they could just invest in some fork and spoons. My plea to restauranteurs and chefs: if you are going to serve a sharing menu, you need to invest in sharing utensils. It's expected, even more so when we are in a COVID era. The golden curry snapper ($33) was a strong dish with great flavours, the finely chopped gai lan and red cabbage adding a wonderful crunchy contrast against the curry rice. While the menu notes the dish uses steamed basmati, I found the starch almost had a creamy risotto-like consistency; although, I could have done without the hard bits that made its way into some bites. The dish could be improved if the fish were done less - I enjoyed the crispy skin but the flesh was too dry. There's not one thing I would change with the prawn tacos ($17), which were absolutely delicious made from crispy hot prawns, paired with a pickled iceberg lettuce & radish slaw, and creamy Thai remoulade. It all sat on a warm, soft, and chewy tortilla that almost reminded me of a thicker Peking duck wrapper. I could have devoured a whole order of these.
